Good idea, I've moved this to the appropriate board, and signed the petition.  ;)

CasperVg

Signed, altho I highly doubt that EA will take notice of this.

Maybe, maybe not.

We won't know unless we try.

Thanks for the support!!!

I've signed. If we get enough signatures, maybe EA will at least look at the petition. I have to say that I doubt that just because we got 50,000 signatures (If we can even do that) that EA will go ahead and make a true SimCity 5. It just seems unlikely.

Nonetheless, it's worth a shot just to show them how much we love this game!

Mr_Maison

I signed it too. This petition should be more visible. I had to dig to find this thread. And over at Simtropolis, I happen to look under the "make a avatar T-shirt" and found out there is a petition. This petition need to be splashed all over the front pages of any Sim City site.

I originally had it set to 500,000.
It wasn't long before I realized that 500k may be a reach at that point in time. The few signature we had

So I figure if we can get  50,000 signatures, the what can stop us from getting 50,000 more and so on.

Let's assume for every signature, we have one person willing to buy a copy of SC5 if the day ever comes.

$60(usd)*50,000= $3,000,000

There are 300,000+ members on Simtropolis and 34,000+ members here.

If we can get at least half the members from each site to sign, you have about 167,000 who would buy a copy of the game if it came out.

Sell each copy at about $60 a pop, EA makes a gross of $10,020,000.

If you factor in the number of new comers SC5 could attract, that number only goes up and up.

We've got to show EA that starting work on SC5 would be worth their while in the end.

I disagree, EA would be more interested in making fun/exciting games with cool trailers to be played for a couple hours then forgotten about with little care about the community. The customization is what makes us still play SC4.

I would rather see, (and do whatever I could to help) an independent venture (perhaps even open source). A simcity-like game that is still 2.5d, but developed with the idea of adding on, and customizing. In other words a game that is like a raw sandbox, that can be downloaded. I mean a basic 3d engine could handle the roads and what not, and the buildings could be sprites etc, you won't need much of a expensive game engine for that.

I'd rather see a game developed by people like us, not big corporations interested in making money.

dragonshardz

JonM, there is one. Here. But don't knock a game developed by EA/Maxis. Nique is a genius, but he doesn't have the money to do this all by himself.

Also, signed. There's a chance that this will work, however slim, and I want to be part of it.

Patricius Maximus

Signed. It is just like the wasted vote phenomenon -- not believing you can make a difference becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. We need to communicate our desires by all avenues available.

Pat

I loved the video and most important I signed........

Rady

Signed!! After beta-testing CitiesXL (lord, don't want to get that experience back in my mind ..) the need for a real SC 5 became even stronger.
If it's a good idea, go ahead and do it. It's much easier to apologize than it is to get permission.

Dreamcat

We already got a Simcity 5.  It was Simcity Societies.  I honestly doubt that we'll get a real sequel, and even if we do get a Simcity 5, who says it won't be crap like Societies was?

Still...I'll sign the petition, OK...?

I had that idea in mind for Simtropolis, but they've closed/deleted all of my threads announcing the petition.

Hmm, I wonder if Monte Cristo's presence on the site has anything to do with it.....

Nonetheless, we appreciate the support. I believe there is strength in numbers.

At the end of it all, at the least, I want EA to see that the franchise is still a marketable venture.

earwax_man

If they had 2 difficulty levels for complexity that you could choose from, then it would solve a bunch of problems of newcommers not being able to play. Even a free play mode would be nice.
Warning: This person may use sacasm, do not feed, touch, or provide fodder for his twisted sense of humour, doing so will result in sudden, disasterous outbreaks of sarcasm. You have been warned.

Jonathan

SimCity 5 = overrated
I just want an update to SC4, to fix the bugs we can't fix, saves having to start again with all the BATs as well. Or maybe even opening things up to more modding and getting rid of some of the links to the EXE(menus networks etc)

Gaston

Okay I signed and added my 2 cents worth as well.
