Well, we'd have everyone over for a 3RR holiday deck party...

...but we had another couple of inches/cm of snow last night.

There's probably 20 inches/one-half meter on the ground now.  No more is expected over the weekend, but that can change up here pretty quickly.

* * *

LOL, un1 and Allan (allan_kuan1992)- I should have had "Also Sprach Zarathustra" [linkie] cued up.

...daaaaaaah-daaaaaaah-daaaaaaaaaaaaaaah-daaah- DAH-DAH!...

We did, in fact, hit 200K page views (thanks, AJ (Alfred.Jones)) just past the stroke of midnight this morning.  I set the 3RR OdometerTM to catch that last digit clicking into place.

At the rate you folks are currently looking in, we could pick up almost a quarter-million more page views in 2009.  Thank you once again so very much for making 3RR what it is today.

* * *

The official 3RR Christmas Tree was especially nice this year.  Two of my favorite pics.

Heh, we're a long way down the road from, "You can't get to Kenora without changing canoes in Pineshore" [linkie].

I think we'll leave that tree up for a while.

* * *

On a 3RR railroad note, I found the RL models for the "game" signals while in Austin, Texas.

I always thought the SC4 versions were a bit oversized.  No more.

And, in the "Boy, did we get that one right" department, where have you seen this recently?

Life imitates art, eh?

Later.

Congratulations on 200K, David!

I've been under the weather since Christmas morning, so I wasn't around when the odometer flipped over. Sorry about that, my friend! I hope you had a great holiday!

Oh, and my New Year's choice...204,812!

Does it work like the first part of The Price is Right--closest to the number without going over?

Either way, I can't wait to see where we end up!

Take care,

Dustin

EDITClosest to the number without going over it is, Dustin.  Here's the latest updated list of guesses.

I'll cut this off at midnight Alaska time tonight, so as to not give the folks who predict later too much of an advantage.  We had two 1,000 page view days in a row on the 24th and 25th, and are on track for another 800 or so today, so it's anyone's guess.  If you want to give it a shot, you've got about 10 hours left. -DE

Congrats on 200k views, David!  &apls

Sorry I haven't had time to test STR; I've been working on other SC4 projects. I'll throw my hat into the ring and give a prediction of 205,925 views for New Year's.

David wow!!! Then in this case I wonder if I was off in my math and well I was never good at doing hypathecal forumals to begin with lol.... Congrats on over 200,000 page views!!! The deck party looks like it would be a blast for the summer, but for the winter naw I dont think it would work either  ;D

You do honestly have to love the Getting it right factor here  ;)

catch you soon,

Pat

Beautiful white Christmas photos, David! I think I'll pass on the deck party too, though. Nice RR pix. There's a rather unusual setup I see occasionally but keep forgetting to take my camera. It's a rather sharp incline from a siding to the main track. But one of these days...

I love The Price Is Right.  Shame I don't get to watch it.  I hear Drew Carey does a good job.

David does a better job wowing us with these SC4 goodies.

Congratulations on 200,000 posts - and here's to 200,000 more!

dedgren

And I thought I was done with these.

I forgot about this one.  Honest.  Until our friend Rusty (RustyXL) reminded me.  I had the textures done.  The puzzle piece, from scratch, took about three and one-half hours this evening.  Now I'm done.

Last half hour to enter your prediction as to how many page views 3RR will have at midnight (Alaska Standard Time - GMT-9), December 31, 2008.  Who knows, maybe the winner gets to come over and help me shovel the snow off my deck.

Tomorrow.

I wish we had snow like that over here for once, it was just cold and wet here (as usual).

I'd guess 204900 views.

Great to see that this texture is done! And nice work on it!

BTW, my 6550th post!

I a just less of a week, I´ve read through the whole thread, all 307 pages, and I love it! The STR and such look great, so now I´ve got to start planning in railroads to my cities, just for this, and the FARR! My prediction for New Years day is 205200, based on the assumption that there´ll be 800 page views for the following days, with a couple more based on the time difference.

Pozzessed

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Christmas *hic* oops!  :D
I think I'll have a guess if it's not too late 205320 but don't worry, I've never won anything in my life .. LoL
I'm really looking forward to playing with the STR ...  :)

I didn't even bother trying to ask for it because i figured you were working on it but just hadn't finished it yet  :D So thanks for actually remembering it. There are a few places where I could use it...
My days here are numbered. It's been great and I've had a lot of fun, but I've moved on to bigger and better things.

What in the world have you done, David?

:shocked2:

Country FAR?  I hope my monitor is adjusted right...

...it is.  If this is what you meant by getting "back to 3RR," I'm ready for every minute of it.

Ha!  The one thing FAR has been missing has been made!

Any plans to reverse this? (wide FAR to diagonal curve)

And great work with rail and STR!  Your latest model looks wonderful for us DTR (double track rail) users!  :P

Best,

Let's push the envelope a little further.

Rural intersections without crosswalks and stoplights have been kicking around in my head for a while.

4.68 mag earthquake about 75 miles/120 kilometers northwest of here (and 57 miles/95 kilometers underground) about 20 minutes ago.  Pictures shook and hanging plants rocked a bit, but it wasn't as strong feeling as the last one I mentioned.

Final list.  We'll know the winner in a couple of days.

And I hope there aren't any bad aftershocks!

Hope everything is all right after the quake. Sounds like they are, but quakes are always interesting. The FAR and intersection stuff is amazing. Does the signal-less intersection override the regular intersections, or can you have those out in the country and lights in the towns? Hope all is well.
-Matt

EDITThe latter, Matt.  That's the big attraction for me. -DE
