Guillaume (Sciurus): Thank you, my friend! I prefer the first texture, too!

Arthur (art128): Thank you, Arthur! As for the fences, they are part of the Gare du Nord, but I'm not sure of their name exactly off the top of my head. I'll find out and get back to you on it, though!

metarvo: Thank you so much! Now that I know what I'm doing a bit more, things to seem as daunting. Thanks for stopping by!

Piotr (Sheep49): Thank you for your wonderful comments, Piotr! And also for your very helpful advice. I do have a tendency to get irritated rather quickly, but when you put into the perspective that you have, it makes me feel much better! Thanks again!

bat: Thanks so much!

Joan (Jmouse): Thank you, Joan! And you're right about the trees, too—I'll have to try that!

deathtopumpkins: Ha! Yes it is! Thanks, my friend!

Pat: Hi, there! I haven't gotten around to the parking situation yet...I've got about three things going on in Marathon simultaneously! But, I will definitely be checking out your ideas, though. From the sketch you posted, it looks like it will work splendidly! Thanks again, my friend, for your help and support!

I think I'm getting the hang of this "no-slope-conforming" lot stuff. Here's the Grand Banks Tunnel on Grand Banks Avenue East...

There are crowds of people that should be on the lots, but I haven't quite figured when exactly they pop up!

In the meantime, though, I'm still plugging away at a few different things. Where will we end up next? For now, it's 6:00 AM here in Pennsylvania, I need to get some sleep!

Until then!

These two pictures are splendid Dustin, excellent work with these lots , they looks exactly what I was thinking !
The trees you used looks wonderful there my friend and the same for the buildings !  &apls
Excellent attention to details.
( I saw that it's your 5555th post !  $%Grinno$% :D )

Hello Dustin,

wow....
Great work one this one.  It really looks like you have figured out your way around LE.
I'm sure I have said this many times before but I am really amazed at how far SC4 has come and it's players.  You can no longer just grab the game and play, but now you need a full custom filled plugins.  The NAM is now essential along with a few others.  It aslo looks like the player needs and know how to use the LE.  Not only is the custom look needed and wanted for that matter but your own personel touch here and there.
Anyways, Dustin, I like this one.  &apls

See you later,
Robin
Call me Robin, please.

HI Dustin that is looking real sweet how it turned out there with the tunnel area!!! I like that plaza area alot!!!  Just let me know when you can take a looksie over yonder  ;)

That's something I loke a lot here, you show us every part of the development, LE problems, explain a lot of things, it's very very instructive. Despite I'm way too lazy for LE, LE is more and more important.

Anyway, this tunnel entrance is really great ! even if I didn't understood this non-slope conforming things :)

Sheep49

...You know what? This update has just made me to change my sidewalk textures back to the Meaxis' ones. Seriosly, I've seen those two pics and started to miss its flexibility and, of course, the option to use SFBT's diagonal fillers. ;)

Anyway, back to the update itself... What can I say, great as always. The choice of buildings is extremly good, everythhing seems just to be right. Good work with those lots, too! I really like trees on them. The billboard is also a nice touch I have to admit. That said, I can also tell you another thing. You've definitely improved your lotting skills. Big applause for you! &apls

Hmmm... When will those people show up? Well, that's the question for 1,000,000$! I have never figured it out, it seems like it's entirely random. But if I were you, I wouldn't believe me, since me and LOTting is like a fist and a nose: doesn't fit to each other at all $%Grinno$%

Great work! Can't wait for more!

That tunnel entrance is looking really good, Dustin.  I think that your latest choice of walls looks even better than the last one.

You are, indeed, getting the hang of it, Dustin. The tunnel looks terrific in both photos. The billboard in the second pic is a nice touch, and the whole scene has a very realistic look.

Later...

Wow, that is a nice lot!  &apls I might try a few of these out myself...

And guess what I did today? I used a technique from your map-making tutorial a few pages back when doing a map for my GIS clas.  ;D Thanks again for that...

Wow, excellent retaining walls.
Are you planning to make transit enabled ones like Marrast M-TEL in the future?

Arthur (art128): Thank you, Arthur! And yes, it was my 5555th, wasn't it? I didn't notice that! Thanks so much for catching it! Oh, and those fences props on those first lots are: JENXProp_Gare_du_Nord_Wall_v4d, Prop ID number 0x70b6bb4. There are four different versions—A, B, C, D—but they only vary in length, and they are all together in the list. Hope that helps, my friend!

Robin (rooker1): Hi, Robin! Thanks so much, my friend! I'm glad you like the lots—I have a pretty good teacher! And you are certainly right, the game and its players have come so far in the past few years! I couldn't even imagine what it would be like to play the game as it is, right out of the box and freshly installed!

bat: Thank you, bat!

Pat: Thanks so much, my friend! And don't worry I'll be visiting very shortly!

nova vesfalo: Hi, my friend! I'm so glad you like it! I was the same way about the LE at first, too, but once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad!

Piotr (Sheep49): Thank you so very much, Piotr! You've been so supportive while I've been toiling in the LE these past couple of days, I appreciate so much, my friend! I can definitely see my skills improving, too, as I get the hang of the program and how to get things to work the way I want them to, and I couldn't have done it without your help! Thanks again and take care!

metarvo: Thank you, my friend! I like these walls better, too, actually. Though, the two lots that I've been showing are for two different places, and you have to switch it up a bit, right? Thanks for stopping by!

Joan (Jmouse): Thank you, Joan! I think things are starting to come together!

deathtopumpkins: Hey, thanks! It makes me so happy to hear that you've gotten some use out of the map tutorial, too, especially since you were able to use it in school! Please feel free to post your finished product here, if you're comfortable doing so, of course! Thanks!

LE0: Hi! Thank you so much! As for transit-enabled ones, that's certainly something I can looking to—it's a bit above my pay grade right now, though! Thanks for coming by and I hope to see you again here soon!

Alan (alan_vzla): Thank you, Alan! It's always great to see you here!

Our good friend nova vesfalo—author of Tientsin - Fort Bayart—said the following above:

Actually, it's a very easy thing to take care of, and I learned it thanks to a wonderful tutorial by Dan (dsrwhat316), How to Build a Sloped Underpass. Dan's tutorial covered a more in-depth process of which the non-slope conforming process is just a section, so in an effort to make it a bit easier—since it is only a two-step process—I thought I'd post it here for quick reference. But before we start, let m extend my many thanks to Dan for this and his other great tutorials he's posted for us. You're a wealth of great information, my friend!

Here we go!

All you have to do is adjust some settings under the Lot Tab:

1. "Threshold" to 0.0.
2. "Lot Max" to 90.0, "Lot Min" to 0.0 (this may be the default value for "Lot Min," I don't remember off the top of my head. Sorry!)

Also, one bit of advice, just make sure that the section of the lot you want face out is not facing the road. As shown in this picture, I wanted the billboard to face out towards the avenue, so I had it facing away from the road in the LE. Other than that, just make your lots as you would normally!

I hope this was able to help you, nova vesfalo, and anyone looking to try this out!

A proper update is on the way, though we'll be heading somewhere different, I think!

dsrwhat316

Nice to see my tutorials put to good use

As pointed out by metasmurf earlier, there are props that give you a bit more choice with foundations. Lately, I've used the ones that are on Pegasus' marina lots, but there are others to use, as well. Can't remember any, though...  ::)

Just a small critique; the fences you are using do look nice, but to me they seem out of proportion compared to the people. I know there is a way to resize the props using the Reader, but I can't seem to remember that, either  :D If you need any more help with the LE, feel free to drop me a PM. I'm always willing to lend a hand  Can't wait to see more lots, Dustin!

Now I really think I'll try that out!  :D

And sure Dustin, I don't mind posting the finished map here. It'll be at least a few weeks though. It's a map of Suffolk, VA by the way...

hey dustin, nice work on the sloped underpass.  i noticed last page you were looking for an easier way to check out the lot foundations. well, the only thing i know of is to edit the lot, then choose 'save as' and then edit it for a new foundation and 'save as'. then you can check them all out at once. it still time consuming but not nearly as much as exiting the LE. anyways, keep up the good work!

Pat

Dustin simply sweet looking there with the second set there!!!

Heh, nice and useful tutorial based on another nice and useful tutorial. Now making non-slope conforming lots will be even easier. Oh, and don't forget to choose some lot foundation! $%Grinno$%

That said, let's move on to the lot itself. i know we've seen it in the last update, though now we can se it with people! Yay! I have to say this looks much better with all those Sims who are talking while standing around. One problem, though. One of the Amill Medium (No, I don't remeber it's name ;)) props looks like its levitating to the front of the billboard ???, and that looks strange to say the least.

'Somewhere different', huh? I wonder where... But that and the other things will be revealed in the next episode of 'Commonwealth of Marathon', only on SC4D Channel! :P

Keep up the great work ;)
