Most of the above is also seen in my train car package Volume 11.
The one with colors is either new or there are more colors schemes from the same railroad in Volume 11.

(Sorry about the links to model railroad pictures. Most real life pictures of older train cars are in black and white.)

It's so cool to see these cars in color

c.p.

They all look excellent   I like the darker glass of the last 5 versions better than the blue glass.

Thank you for your comments.

Yes c.p. The darker glass is a keeper.

A new car, a new color scheme:

Illinois Central.

The colors of this one was a bit difficult to get right. The colors in the pictures varies a lot.

These colors can again be seen around America. The Iowa Pacific has taken up the colors on their Pullman Rail Journeys and some their other trains.

Here is one that came in from the side line, while working on the IC:

Gulf, Mobile and Ohio.

romualdillo

Last two are spectacular!!!  &apls

Thank you Daniel.

New car, new colors:

Simcoug

Awesome!  Your on a roll!

Thank you Simcoug.

Rolling on....

Two New York railroads:

Erie Railroad

Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad or just Lackawanna

EDIT: Looking at the Erie car, I probaly end up turning down the saturation of the green.

From the east coast to the west coast and the Golf coast:

Southern Pacific, Daylight.

Southern Pacific, Lark.

You can check the status of this project in the second post on this side.
Updating the post along the way.

Thank you Daniel.

On to the successor of Southern Pacific....

Well I couldn't really make up my mind today:

Sort of like the last old style one. You can recognize the colors.
I have only seen it as model train, but inspiration non the less.
Have tried to add some dirt to the template. Do you like it ?

Looking at the roof, I might have to do something to them..... add some plates or something !

Next up something from the north !?!

Simcoug

Yep, I like the last one as well with the solid crimson stripe on top.  I also like the added dirt/grime.
The roof is pretty smooth... If you take a look at this picture you can see some fine lines where the roof panels are joined.  Maybe that will add some character to the roof.

On the other hands, some roofs on the picture looks very smooth.

Here are some more pictures.
First we have sort of the real successor of Southern Pacific:

The industri behind Rio Grande bought SP, but kept the name.

Up north we go:

Northern Pacific

... and we end up back in the northeast:

New York Central.

EDIT: A little quick and dirty editing:

romualdillo

Like the dirty editing. I think the sharper roof hides the edges of the low poly model.

Loving the progress of details, and the variety of colors and rail companies of these cars. Excellent work!  &apls
All metropolitan dreams start somewhere... in the minds of many, in the feet of less, but in the hands and hearts of only few.

Thank you both.

Got a bit sidetracked:

That is either one you love or you hate.

EDIT: Small request again: Chesapeake and Ohio lettering on the letterboard. Any one that can help with that ?

Here is one of the planned color schemes:

and one that wasn't planned:

Sort had something like that in mind, a color scheme that I have seen in a add for a model train, but then I stumble over this pictures:

Not quite like it but... still looks good.

I might just have to do a few EMD F-units to complement these passenger cars.

Would you consider rendering these as props in addition to automata?  They would look great in railroad sidings and such.

Forgot to answer this. There is a plug-in that can turn automata into props, as long as you don't need diagonal ect.
I used one for EL/GLR trains on my tram depot and if you have a 3d program that can read the 3ds files the reader export you can rotate them to fit your needs.
(Think the problem is solved with the new reader v1.+. )

So I don't need to render them as such. Just need to do some modding, but it will have to wait at first.
