Adam,
welcome back my friend, good to hear you on the mend. Just don't give us all a shock like that again,

What a comeback. Stunning  &apls &apls

Where to start, the ferry port, the roads, bridge and slopes, the castle the photoshopping ?

All truly inspirational work. I just love the placement of the castle with the surrounding gardens. its a landmark that is not easy to use but has great potential which you've shown here.

Great to see this MD back in action

regards
Derry

Welcome back Adam, and I see that you're back with a bang!

That first photo is a real show stopper! You do have a natural talent for working with slopes and blending development into the environment.

And the castle is to die for as others have already said. Also I'm glad you showed it from several different angles -- it looks great from all directions and that in itself can be a tricky accomplishment.

As for Photo Shopping, spicing things up a bit is one thing, a complete departure from in-game reality is quite another IMO. Minor adjustments to Hue, Saturation and Sharpness brighten things up, and I like nedalezz's lens flares because they seem appropriate to a desert setting. Anyway, whatever you're doing looks great to me, and I'll be staring at your photos long after this note is posted!

Until next time...
Joan

Yoman

Hey Adam, first of all its great to see that your still working on this. Glad your feeling better also, being in the hospital is never any fun.

Now about the update....where to start...uh I guess I'll start with that cruise ship / ferry terminal. Or maybe the roads.

The new version looks somehow even better than the old one, particularly the retaining walls, reminds me of driving along the side of a valley in Italy with retaining walls to my right and a valley to the left, or is it the other way around, I forget. Only thing is you may want to upgrade those tunnel entrances to Blahdy's Big Dig 2.0, if he saw you using the old ones he'd come and hunt you down. Well and the new ones look better.

First of all the placement is genius. On a side note throughout the update I was copying pictures and showing them to Glenni, because I needed to show the genius in your design to someone. Using the airport terminals as a ferry terminal is spectacular. Especially the placement, overlooking the river. I can imagine driving off that incredible bridge, down the slope, and into the tunnel of Sommy's cruise ship thinger. The feeling of density and using every foot of land on that island is clearly shown in your pictures brilliantly.

That bridge made by Lars looks spectacular. Darn you for not showing a close up!!! And the castles placement, is well...incredible. Overlooking the entire bay I assume. On top of a huge cliff. Once again I can think of driving  up that little cobblestone road, parking the car, and having a dinner overlooking the bay (you must have some sort of restaurant in that castle :P).

I have two major criticisms. One is that the pictures were so incredible that I was really pissed when I got to the last one :P And two the lack of closeups on some things such as that bridge your testing! Make the update longer with em :P

Oh, and to help with your container terminal I dropped off something in your email (or will shortly :P).

Tarkus

Adam, it's fantastic to see you back in the MDing realm, and I have to agree with everyone else before me--this update was absolutely fantastic!  I see you discovered the Wide Radius Avenue Curves, and you've done an absolutely stunning job with them--that's the smoothest looking road I've ever seen in game.  I'm just in awe right now.  And the scenery is just breathtaking, as always.

Good to see you back here again.  I love the curved avenue, looks very realistic.  I think you used the castle perfectly.  I like how you placed it on the cliffs edge, over looking the river.  Stunning, absolutely stunning.

I am speechless! Amazing work man! How on earth did you come up with such a great looking an working overpass connecting to avenues using NAM's curves... WOW! Must have taken you a lot of time.

I was wondering what flora combination you use. I just loved and I would like to adapt it to my region. Keep up the good work.

By the way thank you for releasing your slope mod. I just loved it.

Pat

Adam stunning just stunning job here wow!!!!

Hi Adam,

Welcome back, I've missed you and your updates.

I think everyone has already pretty much said it all.  That cruise terminal is just a fantastic piece of placement.  It's all put together so well.

The castle is amazing.  I've not seen it before.  The whole layout is brilliant - you say you're going to re-wrok it but I'm trying to figure out what you don't like.  Even the little parking lot is a nice additional touch.

The forest you've created there is also stunning - I'm looking forward to seeing the work you have planned for forests in future.

All the best - Paul

Yes, I will do it - you are right, the 2.0 version looks much better

Yes, I like this bridge too! I will show some closeups next time, when I will develop it's surrounding a bit  ;D. I can't say if it will be released or not. Making such lots is not easy, there are problems with their positioning, everything looks perfect in max, but not the same in game.
And the castle... yes you imagined it very good! Of course there is a nice restaurant inside, with some hidden rooms for special guests, you can also spend a romantic night in the castle (prices from 1500$ per night  :D)
It reminds me a small nice castle at the Bodensee in Germany. I stayed there only for a while, but I was thinking intensively about a dinner there - I found an information you can order a special dinner arrangement, with two fanfares at the moment of your entrance  :D And after dinner you can rent a Rolls-Royce and drive slowly along the lakeside...

OK Owen, this update is dedicated especially for you - 12 pictures, 12 closeups  :D (without a bridge - sorry, next time...)
I don't know what will I find in my inbox, but knowing your fantastic work with the port stuff I'm sure it will be something amazing

Tarkus: Thank you very much Alex, I appreciate you opinion - you are one of the best transit networks specialists
I saw a great development in your MD too - really huge roadworks there!  :)

mightygoose: First of all - thank you for posting your curvy roads and the rail and bridge! This is really professional work
Yes, it is easy to adjust the network slope using another one first, and then drag what you want. This is one of reasons why rail, El-Rail and Mono Rail have different parameters - they enable to make roads, highways etc. in many ways.
You make excellent intersections, I hope my slope mod will help you a bit...

thundercrack83: Hello Dustin, as you see I'm back, thank you for your continous support!

kimcar: Thank you, I'm glad you like it!

figui: Hello Mauricio, thank you for you comment! We will stay close to the sea during a few next updates, so maybe you will find something interesting for you here?

bat: Thank you very much, nice to see you here!

rooker1: Hello Robin, Thank you very much for your visit! Building this city will be really challenging, so I'm glad at least a castle will be on the right place  :D

sebes: Hey sebes, thank you very much! Do you like the castle? Ok, today more of it for you!

gmavignier: Thank you, I'm glad you like it!

Pat: Hello my friend, good to see you here!

Hello Paul, thank you for your visit!
This castle is Burg Eltz made by Xannepan, you can find in LEX. Placing it is a very interesting work, the castle is much bigger than the lot, castle walls can be arranged by terraforming. The castle entrance can look as on my pictures, but it can look different too if it would be built on the slope, you would see a longer entrance and additional, very original stairs.
I was not quite satisfied by the BSC Parks arrangement. I wanted to have something special near the castle, so I put a monument (it is OK) and a fountain (it is perfect by itself but at this place it is too big and aggressive, it damages a composition of the castle hill). Also the paths texture was too bright. I changed the texture and replaced the fountain by something less aggressive (Crepe Myrtle Park).

Yes, I'm going to show some forests and forest placing techniques, but it is a long way to go and many experiments - it will take some time  :)

warconstruct: Thank you very much, I hope I will see you here again!

Update time

I stayed at the castle hill for some time. I tried to find an apropriate surrounding for Burg Eltz. And I found something excellent too: the Schiffenberg set. Thank you Xannepan and Kwakelaar!  &apls

More views of the castle...

An art gallery and a nice restaurant (the second one and exclusive appartments are on the castle, a few rooms are always reserved for SC4D members, you don't need 1500$ per night to stay here - you are Mayor's Ennedi guests  ;))

The castle surrounding - Schiffenberg buildings (an unique library with rare old manuscripts, another art gallery, a few last monks who take care about a large wine collection  :P You can stay here too, monks organize retreats for people who need a relax and like really good food  ;))

...And a few night shots - it is very quiet outside, but who knows what happens behind these windows  ::)

Best regards
Adam

Wow.

Wow.

WOW.

Those shots are something else, really.

Incredible. Simply incredible. The first shot is my favorite, and....wow.

Yoman

Hey Adam,

Your and Emilin's update's have been the perfect thing to relax me after a terrible travel ordeal (four flights to get from Miami to New York...:P). Must say Im a bit tired to this comment won't be quite as detailed as the last.

First of all, ban Delta Airlines from flying to your airport :P. And once that is done, book me a room in that castle. Sounds incredible.

The street / pathway system in the castle grounds look great. Not too many, not too little, and the amount of trees is perfect. The photo shopping on the first picture is great also, looks like early morning where the sun isn't quite high enough to shine on the opposite side of the castle.

Great work, and thanks for the closeups

Owen

Btw, did I send the crane to your email, I have been out of it for a week so I can't remember :P

bat

That's a very beautiful area there! And some very nice night shots, also the at day are looking great!
