"$Deal"$ Seeing how Sim City 4 only has 3 real looking indoor mall B.A.T.S (-Simgoober's suburban mall, RiverRock by Jawood, and the Plaza Mall by Heblem or the LBT) I thought it would be nice to have a few more opitions. What I am thinking of is a plop-a-department store mall pack somewhat like SimGoober's plop-a-shop-pack. There would be a main mall part that is on it's own lot (and has it's own jobs, etc.) and at the end of each hallway (make sure its w2w) the person playing could choose from a list of department stores that they would like to plop as anchors for that mall. These anchors aren't on the same lot as the mall. They are on their own lot and have there own jobs, etc also. Just make sure the amount of parking matches and everything connects together like in a real life mall. Example: I plop a "T" shaped mall lot and on the left end I choose to plop a Sears, on the right end a JCPenny, and on the bottom a Dillards. It would also be nice to have many different shaped mall lots. Here's a few-
"X" shaped mall lot where the player could plop anchors on each point.

"+" shaped (player plop anchor on each point)

"L" shape (plop anchor on each point)

As for the department stores, it would be cool to have these
National U.S.A stores- SEARS, JCPenny, Macy's
Regional U.S.A stores- Dillard's, Belk, Carson Pirie Scott,
Out of Business U.S.A stores- Montgomery Wards, etc.
Upscale U.S.A stores- Saks fifth Ave, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Lord&Taylor, Nieman Marcus, etc.
Here is a great site that can be a real help with designs, layouts, and other department stores for this project-
http://www.labelscar.com/ - if your interested, take a look at the different states and there malls/ pictures. ;D

Also, these department stores don't have to just be U.S stores. We should have stores from different countries too and some could be fictional. ;)

:D    Hello Opkl

One or two of those have been done by SimGoober. I'm sure that someone will get the bug and bat those things eventually. Right now I'm knee deep in CAM2 testing - then I've got a list of 14 or 15 bats I've done but just need little bit of polish.

How are your bat skills??

F Y I - I got tired of seeing the same old Maxis farm lots over and again. That is what got me batting. Many of us who create bats do so for the recreation, have full time day jobs, and families. Batting for me is a nice way to spend the evening (instead of watching TV) ... Making a department store right now sounds more like a chore or work. It may be something that I'll do way into the future.

Good Luck to you in all your endeavors.

I don't think anyone has made this yet, but maybe an otudoor mall/ lifestyle center/ outlet mall would be nice. I believe Heblem had an old thread about a mall he was doing but might have forgot it.?.? ()what()

How about out door market?  in Kuwait we call this harag..  typical name for it is the Friday market.  all that area with pavilions. it's open air.. like one big flea market...  so many people like to come there to get there good's. can really get good price.. you only have to barter...  so take a look.. this can be in SimCity 4 http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=41.174261,-87.846658&spn=0.006525,0.013411&t=h&z=16.. Hope you enjoy..
God Bless

I have been considering making a modular mall set, but making it functional has been the only draw back. It would not be very hard to have jobs in the anchor stores, as they could be set on a street or road, it's the inner lot that could be problematic. However, with the SAM, one could run a fancy street around the building, then add lots of parking around the outer perimeter.

Let me think it over for a bit, and see what I can come up with.

Yeah! Thank you very much for taking interest in this project. It sounds good. I will try to help out as much as I could. The only problem is i'm not good at batting. :P

You might want to go and look over at SimPeg as Pegasus has done a modular subterranean shopping mall

here  http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=downloads;cat=10  I think they are also available on the STEX as well

a close up of one of the pieces

:)

I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?" DEATH thought about it. "CATS," he said eventually, "CATS ARE NICE.

Yes I saw PEG's canal mall and it is very nice, but im interested in a regular mall like the ones I linked from google maps. :)

Opkl

Does anyone know if SimGoober might BAT a second mall? I know Heblem over on Simtropolis said that all of his BATS are on hold until December.

It would be great to to have something like the Sint - Hubertusgalerijen in Brussels. A shopping street that has a glass roofcap. You can see them also in France and other citiy's in Belgium. If anyone is willing to make this i'm sure i'm not the only will who will find that fantastic.

wallasey

There is a modular shopping mall set on the Stex somewhere, but it isn't functional.

Ah yes, that would indeed be nice to have, although the point of having these in SC4 somewhat dissapears because of the lack of a street view

Yes indeed, but it adds some West - European (and in my case Belgian) realism to my city's. especially my capitol city.

WC_EEND

Hehe, I understand that desire all too well, seeing the distinct lack of Belgian buildings (although that has improved lately with the "Boekentoren" being on the STEX and the "Belfort" of Gent being BATed) for SC4

I already have the boekentoren BAT (it really was nice to see my old faculty of the university (Letteren en Wijsbegeerte) and to use it in my cite as university. It's only a pity he hasn't made all the Blandijnberg (the whole building)). Right now, i'm trying to solve that lack by building city's with a dutch look, or to use several European styles in a mixed way. But there is indeed a lack of Belgian Bats.
