News #1 - SCJU

Yes, no update. I'm sorry, but I have been REALLY busy keeping an eye on Pheonoia and New Rhodesia's conflict. This thread on the SCJU website will explain all that happened. A quick synopsis IS in order though.

Basically, the Pheonoian Senate went behind the President's back and filed a complaint with the International Court of Justice. The complaint was that New Rhodesia used nuclear weapons in a battle with the RNAI when it was not necessary. New Rhodesia denied it (of course) and the Pheonoian President eventually sought sanctuary in New Rhodesia. President Gabreles did eventually return to his country.

However, a civil war soon started. The Pheonoian Senate led one faction (the Isolationists) and President Gabreles led the other (the Unionists). Most SCJU nations sided with the Unionists, though a few sided with the Isolationists at the start of this trouble.

Jenress started as a neutral nation, however we soon came to the aid of the Unionists, who were ensconced in the town of Mt. Fresca and were under heavy attack by Isolationist forces. All SCJU nations sent some form of aid to Pheonoia. Some sent food and other necessities to the population, others sent soldiers. In fact most nations ended up sending soldiers.

Jenress stayed out of most of this, however, when we heard that our allies, the Imperial Kingdom of Atlantis, had been attacked while defending the only route into Mt. Fresca, the entire nation erupted into a war frenzy. The King sent 1000 soldiers and 500 support staff to the aid of Atlantean troops. Not long afterward an additional 1000 troops and 500 support staf were sent, along with 4 aerospacefighters. The transports were also available for use.

In a raid, daring but due to communications errors, unnecessary, New Burgundian soldiers captured the city of Paradise Valley after it had already surrendered to Coalition (Jenress, Atlantis and other nations that sided with the Unionist gov't) forces. This led to threats being exchanged, however, tempers were the only things that flared.

In a nation already decimated by the RNAI War, a civil war was the last thing Pheonoia had needed. Currently, Atlantean citizens continue to rebuild Pheonoia. Jenress soldiers have been pulled out, leaving behind 750 of the support staff to "clean tech". An excerpt from Jenress Military Code explains.

"After conflict is resolved, soldiers and naval craft* will be removed from planet and sent home. Any and all support staff will remain behind with the needed amount of transport to remove any technology that the planet of conflict {POC} does not currently possess or have the capability to manufacture without any influence from Jenress citizens. Support staff will remain on POC for a period of one (1) month for every 2000 soldiers. Cleanup crew must be armed only with current technology level weapons (see Appendix 1: Technology Levels) and may not bring any citizen of POC into transport. Doing so will result in immediate confinement to the transport's brig and a Level 10 Infraction (see Appendix 2: Infraction Levels)."

*Naval craft mean both types of ship: the ones that are constrained to water and aerospacecraft.
