The City Of South City

I started a project called "South City" about 3 months ago and abandoned it... It was going very well until I couldn't get it to load, but i used a mod to compile some plugins I have, and today I'm here to give you a preview of some of the coming attractions South City has to offer, I'm just going to give you a quick tour here.

Now I welcome you to South City.



The setting in this city is very similar to a Los Angeles area, with almost roads in a graph, compiled houses with little space apart, and rich suburbs. Today I will be giving you a tour of some of both the Southgrove Expressway Exits, And some of the South Valley Freeway exits...



Image of the South Valley Fwy, Oakwood Road exit, Beautiful exit ramps along the interstate with sound walls and palm trees, and excellently thought out diagonal road systems.

Next, we will be heading to the Eastern Suburbs where major planning has been made to build a high class suburb called Princeton Park, and a new shopping plaza will be build right near it promoting people to look into nearby real estate and commerical building oppertunities.

Many sims complain that the Eastside is taking a highly suburban turn for the worst, congested traffic, and the need for constant rehibilitation of nearby transportation networks, but we say... It makes money doesn't it?

A great start, Natalie. One suggestion I have to better the overview of your whole cities would be to remove those signs and to turn off the UDI icons and the zots. (To turn off the zots enter 'tastyzots' into the cheat box!  )

Hello Natalie, you've made a great start there with your south city.
I like how the highways are crossing by the houses and the commercial areas. Also, nice work with the construction areas. Maybe I can suggest you to use a bit the terraforming, because the roads and streets and avenues looks like... a coaster..  And same suggestion as my friend Ethan about the UDI icons and the signs.

Well, the roads have many bumps, it's not flat.. :I hope you understand.  But sometime it's not bad to have non-flat roads, it gives some volume to the city, but with a slope mod, it could be already better (the slope are a bit hard..  )

Today, on may 10'th, the contract for the Central Fwy Construction Project was signed...

              This is a notification regaurding future plans for the future Central Freeway Construction Project, meant to enhance traffic flow along the Interstate 75 corridor. The City of South City has granted you 84.6 Million Dollars to both enhance traffic flow on the interstate, and to beautify and update the surrounding areas within the range of the project. The signage to be used on the travel routes will and must be placed on freeway thoroughfares by 12:00 AM May13'th. If the deadline isn't met, contractors from Westerville Construction Agency will take your position. This is a privalege, the money is to be used appropriately. Freeways are to be widened with RHW style and have 3 travel lanes, 1 auxilary lane, and one express lane on each side/median if neccesary. Thank you for your cooperation.

Some interesting things going on here lately. Glad to see that you are getting a lot of work out of your cities.

You will notice that some of your pictures are gone because they are .pngs. It is very important that you convert them to .jpgs before posting because pngs are much larger files and take up more of the site's bandwidth, which is not free. (So the smaller the site, the less to run it, I think.) The most easy way in my opinion to do this is IrfanView.

Hope you can get this sorted out as your pictures are very nice and your progress is excellent! 

I'm sure Dave gave you some excellent other suggestions in his PM as well.

Fantastic start so far, although the roads have made me a little motion sick.  HA!
Peg's pond kit is having those texture problems because the land needs to be flat under them.

SOUTH CITY BRIEF NEWS REPORT

Progress on the South City construction zone signage will be made today, please be patient people commuting on the Central Fwy and/or any neighboring transportation networks.

New construction project being considered by the SCDOT on widening Red Mountain-Gano Road from one lane on each side to one lane on each side with one center ongoing turnlane.

New construction project being considered by the SCDOT on transforming the Southcentral interchange with new flora, sound walls, electronic message boards, and a new exit, on Glendale Blvd.

That project seems very good for South city, the traffic jams i've seen on firsts images, are colosal! I like the pond

Project Map, notice how it says the area was made by my cousin Byon, he started the region and i haven't yet bothered to change the  mayors name since i forgot the cheat to do so. As you can see, the Central Fwy is a major vein for transportation, a major North, South, transportation network, that feeds people in the Southside, and leads them straight to the Downtown Fwy. As of 5/14/10, time from the southernmost strip of interstate to the Downtown Fwy is 2 hours on average, and in early 2006 used to be 1 hour and 15 minutes on average. How is this? Neighboring freeways such as the South Valley Fwy, and the Basin Fwy have been under construction. And to add on to that, many public works projects on neighboring roads and boulevards have clogged up traffic on the transportation artery. Current project goals are to add mast lighting, sound walls, an additional lane in each direction along with 2 lane carpool lanes in the center, new modern exits, using the NWM to remodel nearby roads, and to overall improve traffic conditions. In total, the interstate will have 6 lanes on each side including HOV lanes. There has been a delay in the creation of construction signs suitable to the project, so we will have that update tomorrow.

Red Mountain - Gano Rd. Has been receiving a section of road widened in the past days, the project was indeed recently passed and major construction has been started quickly. The results so far have been amazing

If you haven't noticed yet... This project was made using the new NWM, i love how much you can do with this game =) . This is expected to be finished by tomorrow so we will keep you posted on that.

In other news... The Central Freeway's ability to push traffic through constrution on new road signs have brought lane closures and heavy traffic, this photo will easily show you just how frustrated drivers must be, this is at the Southside Drive Exit.

Hello, Natalie here with a HUGE UPDATE!

RED MOUNTAIN - GANO ROAD PROJECT

Status:Complete

Yes, the project is complete, and there are mixed emotions from SCDOT members, but here are some before and after photo's.



Huge difference here, this is the southernmost tip of the construction project, the intersection of Red Mountain-Gano Rd and Stone Mountain-Branchland Rd. On the left, you can see pointless power lines driving their way through the mountainous terrain, and they have been removed and rerouted elsewhere. You can see that a new area of construction was started at the corner for leveling. Speaking of leveling, the whole area of the intersection was leveled as seen in the after picture (right just in case you didn't know). Overall, SCDOT thinks its a success, but other members think its a lackluster job by South County Construction Agency. Byon Higgins was questioned on his workers payload, and the amount was 42,000$ a year. This was startling, that much for workers? But to the mayor of the city it was a success, but the mayor decided to listen to workers at SCDOT and redo the section of road work with a new intersection pictured here.



As you can see, major turn lanes have been elongated, and new ones added, with only one shortened. The valley was dug out into a valley, and on the upper right hand side, a new neighborhood has been built since the prior completion. If the traffic becomes greater and new widening is necessary, we will be widening it to 2 lanes on each side with a continuous turn lane in the center.
