Ile aux Oiseaux - PART I



Today we visit "Ile aux Oiseaux" - the bird island


Ile aux Oiseaux is a small, largely uninhabited island and a nature reserve.


The island has been designated since 1924 as a nature reserve. The conservation goal is to preserve the island as a habitat for shore birds, which is dominated by gulls, ducks, wild geese and terns

In 1957 the weather and oceanographic station "Oie Sauvage" was built in a small bay.


The station has been explored for 50 years the weather and the marine life around Rondnoir.




20 people of the natural authority live permanently on the island.






In 1998, the radio and transmission tower was built.




Next time we visit the lighttower "Oiseaux" and Yvonne's new home - the LaPae-Farm; home of the lighthouse keeper.
