Although no replies,

Her is some more.

First of all: I moved the two trees to the correct location. The lot is now finished.

Then I lotted the Dutch Advanced Research complex
Again the Maxis building was not so bad, therefore I kept it in place.

And the Dutch Bureau of Bureacucracy.
The building by Haarlemmergold is a real life Bureau of Bureaucracy: the Sociale Verzekerings Bank (social insurance company?).
It is located in Leiden. Here to be precise.

So.... what do you think?

Frank

I like!
Especially the research complex and the grass on the parking spaces on the last picture.
the traffic lights are a bit out of scale (compared to both buildings & cars) and especially compared to the small entrance building with the gates(see first picture). But that's probably inevitable in sc4...

MFG

Flatron

It's nice, but I'm not sure about all those fences at the research centres. I'd prefer a more 'open' layout, that could be incorporated with the University and propably a large clinic... (to keep distances between testers and testees short, so to say :D :D)

Sim.Rico

WOW I love it.   it wilo go well as one of the FrankUniversity Campus Admin towers.   I have some updates for you too, Frank, but please pardon my absence,  I am on training and transitioning at w0rk.   will be back to normal in another week.

PS:   Oh I see an update about new cruise terminals?   Yes Peyton-Stepford USN  has a need for new upgrades to our ports, ship channels and cruise hubs!   Cant wait to strike up a contract with your peeps!

c.p.

Great lotting as usual.  And I like the fence and gate around the research complex.  It gives the impression that something important (and maybe a little dangerous or shady) is going on there. :)

The building for the bureau of bureaucracy is very fitting, nice find!

The research centers look good too. Though I like Flatron's idea of making them modular lots so to fit with the university as well.  :-\

Jack_wilds

making more than one variation...

with some wanting a version to be able to 'blend' with a campus setting -I vote for the second one to fit that purpose...   :)

otherwise nothing to nit pick...  :satisfied:

however, that third one, its just so very dutch  :P ...

well done so far

mave94

Great work, Frank! There are so many details to look at, as always.

Nice lots. :)

I prefer VIP's cars instead of CP, but that's just my taste.
I'll take a quiet life... A handshake of carbon monoxide.

FrankU

Thanks you all for your feedback,

I always thought the two research centres did secret things that were to be kept form the public... So I added good fences.
But the idea of making them a part of a university complex, and thus having no fences, is a nice thought.
I always can make two versions: one with and one without fence. No problem. But this also gives me a direction for the university that is still waiting on the list.

And uhh, the VIP cars are indeed much better, but as I always worked with CP props I used his cars, because that makes one dependency less.

But this morning I thought I'd add some Dutch props by WA Soethout and the Murimk bicycles. As they are already in your plugins folder, because you need them for earlier lots in my series, I'd better make them useful. So new versions will come one of these days.

kelis

Dutch props by WA and the Murimk bicycles MUST be ALWAYS part of your lots  $%Grinno$%

@ All

I uploaded three lots just this morning!

The Medical Research
The Advanced Research
The Bureau of Bureaucracy

On a STEX and a LEX near you!

Please download and rate!

Thank you for your suggestions, help, criticism and support!

Next will be..... uhh, the University?

....Uploading the MFP 1.... (.........Finishing the MFP1)

FrankU

After I finished the above three lots I went back to the University project.

After quite some research I decided to make the university a campus, inspired by the campus of Delft University of Technology where I once studied architecture.
You can find an aerial here. Interesting enough we can see the Faculty of Architecture where I studied still standing. It has burned down in may 2008, so more than six years ago. Bing maps are not very recent!

I guess the images show enough, so without further ado:

The main building is the Boston City Hall, BATted by Frogface. Then there is the Faculty of Air and Space Technologies, which is sponsored by Lufthansa and BATted by Bandito. Opposite to it find the highrise Faculty of Electrical Enigineering and Computer Science, BATted by Equnox.
The Faculty of Civil Enigneering resides in a doubled version of Glenni's Brutalist College.
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering resides in a building by HDorriker.
And finally the Faculty of Architecture (not burned down this time) can be found in the rear building by Glenni.

Because it is meant as a Dutch project we find a lot of brick and bicycles.....

Do you like it? Please comment.

Hey FrankU,
There are many different buildings, which is good, it gives the impression that the university was expanded over time and not just "plopped' there. Maybe you could add some low park fences/hedges around the grass areas. I don't really like it when sidewalk transitions into grass without phisical boundary.

Intriguing project and great selection of bats and props  &apls

Nice ensemble of buildings you've put together, reminds me of the University of Utrecht as well (the Uithof that is). Some of the space in between buildings still looks a bit empty though, maybe add more street furniture. Or maybe you could liven the place up a bit with a secondary pavement texture to indicate walk ways and / or cycle lanes?  &Thk/(

Also I'm wondering, since it has more and larger buildings than the vanilla university, are you going to increase the number of students as well?

Anyway, it'll be a great university for sure!

Cant wait to get back online and check out the new Frank U.   Will the university campus come in a pack 0f lot ensamles sobwe could plop a variety of campus layouts?   i have.som old pics for you , will pm

FrankU

Wow, that was quick!

Thanks for the replies.

@ Catalyst
Actually the project is inspired by the Delft University of Technology, at least the Mekelweg part of it. This series of buildings was erected in more or less the same era. Only for each faculty they chose a different architect and hence the buildings have very different looks. Although brutalism prevails.
The fences I am not yet sure about. Without the fences you can add the Medical Research and the Advanced Research as addons into one campus. Or you can add park lots... So there is advantages and disadvantages.

@ noahclem
Thanks!

@ Vortex
Hi Erik, thank you too. Yes, some areas are a bit empty. I am still considering if I should add a "square" with some greeneries, or just different pavings or something else.
Different pavings look so totally different that I could not convince myself to add them.
I did something with the same pavement, but in different directions though. Can you see it?
And although the lot is larger I did not consider to change the properties. Like I did with all previous replacement lots. I did not want to tinker with properties, because I probably would bring unbalance in the game.

@ Sim.Rico
Sorry that I could not wait until your images arrived....
This campus is one large 10x20 lot. It is meant to replace the Maxis one, which is also just one item.

@ all
Of course it would be possible to split the lot in several small ones. It would be nice if the add-on lots appear when the main lot is plopped after it had come available. Is that possible with some kind of MML technique? Can someone tell me about this?
One of the remaining lots  its the zoo. I will probably use Jeronij's modular zoo as inspiration for my personal Dutch zoo. It consists of many small lots and it would be good if those only appear when the zoo has come available.
