Title: DAMN Sets
Post by: Diggis on May 26, 2008, 06:46:07 AM
OK, To keep the development thread clean I have started a new thread to keep track of the DAMN sets that have been created or are being created:

BSC Forest Tracks
BSC Goobers Canal Base Set
BSC Park Trails
Jeronij Modular Zoo
JRJ New Walls Set 1
JRJ New Walls Set 2
JRJ New Walls Set 3
JRJ New Walls Set 4
JRJ New Walls Set 5
SFBT GLR Coloured Mod - Normal Stations (In testing)
SFBT GLR Coloured Mod - Ave GLR Stations (In testing)
SNM Accomodation
SNM Health and Safety
SNM Motorpool
SNM Offices
SNM Training
SNM Utilities

If you are working on a set let us know here so we don't end up with lots of people doing the same set.  No point in wasting time eh?  :D

Try here Cogeo.

http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=2917.0

They are the custom submenus Daeley has developed.
Title: Re: DAMN Sets
Post by: Diggis on May 26, 2008, 10:42:01 AM
DAMN uses the advisor popups as sub menus. You can hide the icons from the normal menus but that causes the single plop issue like the MMLs do.
There is no wait as these are always available and you don't need to modify the original files.

I've started working on getting a DAMN Set for Jeronij's Canal Set and my Modular Parking Set (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=19350) ;)
It might take awhile until they are  finished tho

One more thing, does it matter if there are conflicting PIDs and LUA IIDs?
If so you should put the PID/LUA IID used for the set next to the list on the first post?

Good Question.  Can you post it in the development thread as Daeley is more likely to see it there, and I have no idea really.

I think I might test myself out by doing the NHP Hole Diggers/Raisers, if that is alright with people?

EDIT: can i quickly ask, which menu should these be added to?....

OK, I just realised that some of the sets that I have listed above weren't released by Daeley.  I couldn't figure out why untill I realised that I never sent them to him.  He only got the ones I was having problems with.  :D

So I will put the whole lot into that thread in the next couple of days after I have checked a few things.

Well , I think I have completed the functionality of a set (manually may I add hehehe) I just never have very much luck with icons... and the such....

Is there some turorial or example lots?

Do players need to install any dependencies?

Download the damn set, there's a tutorial inside.

OK, I would reccomend going to that thread I posted and go to page 8 or so and find the download from Dealey.  Then read the thread fromt here, and maybe a few pages back.  If oyu concentrate on posts from Daeley and myself that will help keep the info you need to read down.  I know you don't want to read 11 pages but I don't want to clutter this thread condensing 11 pages of information.

cogeo, this thread is to keep track of all the DAMN sets being made. Please post any DAMN questions you have in the DAMN development thread (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=2917.0), so not to clutter this one.

cool.  It might pay just to hold off on the final creation of these (you can still do the grunt work) as Daeley is working out Warriors idea so there will be some minor changes to how they are done.

I think I am going to hold off until we see if the new setup works as well as we are hoping it will. Besides, I think my sets may need to be revamped again anyway.

Damn! (As in Drat / Oh dear / etc. - pun obviously intentional!)

I've just spotted yet another way to expand OWWx...

Bye bye weekends!  %confuso (that icon's the closest to "Burning the midnight oil" in the set...)

(If you didn't understand that, visit SimPeg - it'll be quicker than me attempting to explain it here...)

But, hey ho, from what I've read it should be marginally less painful than MMLing all the lots...
OWWx - 55 (33 brick, 12 tarmac, 10 parking)
OWWr2 - 19

And for users, a darn sight easier to locate the lot they want!

I'll probably experiment with a DAMN version of one of my MMLs first, as they're slightly fewer lots! Best to iron out any teething problems with a handful of lots than with 74!

No promises yet (so don't classify them as under development yet!), but if they're relatively painless, I'll get all three of my MMLs DAMNified (Homer's Beachset, Beaches for Irregular Coasts, Smoncrie's Hole Digging Lots), then possibly start exploring that rather large plugins folder called PEGPROD...

Evidently, if I do start development on anything other than OWWx, I'll let you know!

Casper, can I encourage you to go for a LEX candidancy for these, to get them up with the DAMN file?

Also, if we release a compiled set (much like the original MML's were released) would we have your permission to include these?
Title: Re: DAMN Sets

Diggis: You, and the DAMN Team, have full permission to use any of the DAMN-menu's that I create in compilation packs. I think it is much better for the end-user to be able to download everything at once, from one link.

Just made some sets for

Deadwood Raised Parks
http://www.file-upload.net/download-1823570/DAE-Raised-Parks.zip.html

Deadwood City Walls
http://www.file-upload.net/download-1823561/DAMN-Menu_1250156263609.dat.html

Might someone give me brief reply wheter they work outfine? They do on my PC, but .... :P

If so, I will put them on the lex.

BTW: Is it considered unpolite not to ask the creator of the lots whether I might create a DAMN menue file for them?  ()what()
Title: Re: DAMN Sets
Post by: Diggis on August 13, 2009, 07:05:41 AM
Rady,

Thanks for these files.  What I suggest you do is look at this thread here:

http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=492.0

And then post your lots in this board here:

http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?board=5.0

and apply for a LEX candidancy.  I'm away this week so won't be able to look at these for about 10 days but will when I get back.

Additionally, it's polite to ask the creator if you are planning to DAMN anything, but not necessary.  In this case, I wouldn't worry about it as DW won't mind.
Title: Re: DAMN Sets
Post by: Rady on August 13, 2009, 08:24:49 AM
Diggis, thanks, will do that.

Anyway i figured out by myself that the Raised Parks Menue wont work .. the icons show up properly an can be selevted, but cannot be places afterwards. In addition, after selecting one item you cannot select another until you completly close the DAMN menu and open it again.

WIll have a look at the DAMN thread over here to find out what's going wrong.

Hate to bump an old thread, but rather than starting a new topic I would just like to say that I have created a DAMN set for JBSimio's University of Clayhurst.

It's attached to this post [linkie], (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=7014.msg284170#msg284170) and includes an icon for Stefan97's SSPTool.

I am also working on a DAMN set for MAS71's Japanese River Project.

EDIT: Removed the download as some parts of the menu were not working correctly.
