On christmas 2012, the king of the romantic movie score himself, Ennio Morricone, conducted the orchestra of the italian national broadcasting company (RAI) in the great basilica of San Francis in the town of Assisi.

You may know, in 1997, after a heavy earthquake, this basilica looked like this:

Two terrible mistakes.

First what are those doves in the video? Doves aren't songbirds. :angrymore:

Second: those women look so moronic into the camera as if they had some serious brain surgery before recording. :satisfied:

But still, nice harmonies ...

Imagine an alternate universe in which Neu! was fronted by Damo Suzuki of Can.  Also, befitting the title, this is totally music for blasting down the desert highways in Nevada.

Sunny sunday afternoon ... and on radio they announced that Tomasz Stanko died today.

From his music I took so much inspiration, like a cozy rebozo women put around their neck when it's becoming fresher in the late evening hour... or maybe like those embracements after a long travel you get from your car, your back aches, you're a littel stiff, but the grandchilds and your daughter come out of the house and all want to to hug you at the same time ... and suddenly the aching falls apart and you feel fresh an young ...

... like this was is the music of Tomasz Stanko to me. The kind of drink that satisfies the thirst of my soul.

How sad. How sad. Hope eternity rocks him in her finest tune now.

You can imagine - I hear this now while I can't avoid salty water gathers in the corner of my eyes.

I listen to his album "Suspended Nights" atm, a short impression you can get here:

https://vimeo.com/170327614 You may notice his extraodinary expression on this tune, how he drags and aspirates the tones of the trumpet - making it some "talking device".

Here he presents his last recorded album:

Beak> - "The Brazilian", off their new album ">>>" (yes, that's the name of the album--it's pronounced "three chevrons").  Just came out today.

Fantastic stuff--looking forward to seeing them next month when they play the western US for the first time.

Rachel Yamagata, I'll find a way

Strange thing, huh? If you feel you have to cry just turn on some music. And the feeling deep inside easily goes through your eyes and straight into the sea.

As if music was some kind of midwife to the things kept inside.

A tribute to Tomasz Stanko by ECM Records, compiled (pictures and music) by the founder of ECM, Manfred Eicher, himself and released july 30, one day after Stanko's death, on YouTube.

Sadly we are living in times where they call every newly released album or book a once-in-a-hundred-years event and they forget about it after some weeks. Sadly most of all the so called "experts" act with no sense for art and aren't able to recognize the mouments from within their consciouness. As if music and literature are drugs to them. Sadly some of the most beautiful artist get forgotten through time. And every "history of arts" is nothing else to cover the disgrace of "Kulturkritik" that surfes the waves and then fall asleep.

Broken Bells - "The Ghost Inside"

This song grooves so hard . . . and it's in E Dorian, to boot.
