CAM - Workforce and Occupation Demands (Drives)

"What workforce is required by my industries and commercial buildings?"
"What occupation is my population asking for?"

These questions can be answered by looking at certain RCI exemplars in simcity_1.dat.
The properties are called Drives, and there are two kinds of them; I've decided to call them Census Drives and Workforce Drives (mainly based on the names of the exemplars where they are given).

These properties have been slightly changed for the CAM in order to achieve a smooth development through all available 15 growth stages.

Census Drives (Demand of Workforce)

These drives tell us what kind of workforce (residential working population) is required for different kinds of jobs.
They are given in the following exemplars: CS$ Census, CS$$ Census, CS$$$ Census, CO$$ Census, CO$$$ Census, IR Census, ID Census, IM Census and IH Census.


The table below should be read from top to bottom for each column separately.
Eg. the column named CO$$ tells you that middle-class offices employ 10% R$$$, 50% R$$ and 40% R$:

Workforce Drives (Demand of Occupation)

These drives tell us what kind of occupation (commercial and industrial) is accepted by the workforce (population), based on their wealth and education.
They are given in the following exemplars: TotalWF$EQ1, TotalWF$EQ2, TotalWF$EQ3, TotalWF$EQ4, TotalWF$$EQ1, TotalWF$$EQ2, TotalWF$$EQ3, TotalWF$$EQ4, TotalWF$$$EQ1, TotalWF$$$EQ2, TotalWF$$$EQ3, and TotalWF$$$EQ4


The table below should be read from left to right for each row separately. Eg. the row named R$$ 150...200 tells you that well-educated middle-class residents may be working in CO$$$ (45%), CO$$ (15%), CS$$$ (10%), CS$$ (30%), and I-HT (45%). The total of each row is between 140% and 165%, telling you that people can accept more than one type of occupation. Farming (I-R) is treated in its own way and separately from the others.

Agricultural demand is handled in its own way, and I have to admit that I don't fully understand it myself either.
One thing that might play some significance, is the fact that each field tile also employs one sim.
Thus, if the demand wasn't high enough, one single farm with a large field could kill all demand for I-R.

1600% means that each uneducated R§ sim raises the demand for 16 I-R jobs.
At least we know that having only uneducated R§ sims, the demand for farms can never be fulfilled. ::)

Does CAM change the number of residents who work? I know in the normal game about half the residents work in C or I jobs, but since I installed CAM the number or C+I jobs in my regions has been close to equal to the number of residents. Couldn't find this anywhere in the readme or manual. It is a great mod.

That's because CAM double the residential capacity, e.g. the game thinks there are twice more residents then there actually are, and thus double the amount of jobs is required.

 Hey Tage (Ripplejet),
After reading through all this information it looks like I don't want the Sims EQ to go above 150 if I want to have I-D and I-M to grow in my cities. If I understand this fully, the EQ directly and ultimately determines what kind of city you are going to have.  I can't help but wonder if there are some better numbers that could be up there for a more rounded city.  There is only the four levels for each R stage right? 0-50, 50-100, 100-150, 150-200. 
Now I'm going to have to think harder while playing the game.  Going to do a slightly different city tonight. ;) Less educated and try not to pass that 150 threshold.
In the end I just wish for a city with a little of everything.....but more dirty than not.  ;)

Being new to CAM I want clarification on something.
All the Stage limits noted in the manual have been based on "Regional Capacity." Does this mean in a region that has, say 7 cities wherein the regional capacity for R$$$-15 has been breached, that stage 15 buildings will pop up irrespective of the city I'm in (Of course depending on the probability of their appearance as prescribed in the manual)?
I'm asking this b'coz, after I grew a new city in a region of 7 cities I had a Stage-15 R$$ grow while I understood the city to be in eeither Stage 4 or 5 as witnessed from the growing buildings.
