Welcome to the Colossus Addon Mod (CAM)!
The CAM manual is attached to this post.
It is also included in the CAM 1.0 available at BSC LEX:
- CAM 1.0 Windows Installer version (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1008)
- CAM 1.0 MacOS ZIP version (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1009)
Note that you have to register separately at the
BSC LEX (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/) before you can access the downloads.
Whenever minor additions and/or corrections are made, they will be updated here first, so that you can redownload the manual without having to reinstall the CAM.

For those wanting an introduction in another language, take a look at the following posts:

And if you're wondering about those strange numbers in the filenames: Those are language codes, that will be used by the installer script to place a link to the proper language file into the start menu if you have a German, Japanese etc. version of Windows. :)
I cant download the CAM, there no link to download it on your page...the http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1008 does absolutly nothing...where i can DL it please.
You need to register at the BSC LEX before you can access any files in there.

That would be highly appreciated, gmavignier!
Reading over the manual, page 7:
"E.g. in the example above you could have border crossings between A and B, as well as between C and D, but not between B and C nor between D and A in those cases."
1) It sounds as if ferry transit would be subject to this problem as well, and even more that you can't direct ferry traffic north/south only as opposedd to east-west without denying adjacent ferries in that direction a ferry terminal.
2) Would 'freight only' transit tiles be sufficent to allow the APPEARANCE of cities A, B, C and D without Eternal Commuters?
My apologies if this info is to be found elsewhere, and you are invited to move my message if it is not appropriate here. I wasn't sure where to ask the questions. When I started this post I was going to ask for a pattern that works on a larger scale, but then I felt 'transit only' bars could be placed to break circles, and the only real pattern you need is 'don't make circles'. Ferries and 'no non-freight' puzzle pieces might be mentioned in the manual as offering solutions that save the appearance without the Eternal Commuter effect.
Last December when I finally took the plunge and started using custom content I set up freeway circles at all the four corner junctions of the cities. My goal was since this region is my testing area to try getting these eternal commuters at least out of my way while I am having fun with the new buildings and such. All the cities have developed well and I have no significant red transportation lines. Its true though these sim love to go in circles if you let them. When I start my Cam region I am thinking about doing the same thing just to see how sims respond with very large population numbers. To try and keep all car and bus traffic totally away from all corners for an enitire region is a lot of work, I know because I have tried it.

That's a very interesting note. In other words, you would want to avoid having ferrry terminals close to the corners of a map. ;)

Yes, that is exactly the way I lay out my cities, having freight rails crossing close to the corners.
Freight only moves up to the border crossing, it won't appear as incoming traffic in the neighbouring city.
i have made a small explanation about CAM in spanish site of CSC:

The pictures from LEX are not available from CSC, since the LEX cannot check that you're logged in when accessing the pics.
You might want to host these pics somewhere else ;)
I can't download the file because either my login is invalid, my login is invalid or my login is invalid.

You need to register separately for the BSC LEX. It's not the same as the SC4Devotion Forums.
I registered, but when I clicked on the activation link, it said an error message.
I'll notify one of the LEX moderators as soon as one of them is available ;)

I registered as "bscmaster4"
You actually registered as bscmaster 4 so don't forget the space when you log in. I have activated you so enjoy the LEX.
copy the link into the address bar... activation links sometimes have bogus hyperlinks attached to them
Problem Solved! I logged in and downloaded CAM.

I have a question. What happens if I download more lots and models from other websites (such as japanese)? Does the CAM cause SimCIty to ignore them or will they still appear in my city?
They will still appear in your city.
just to make sure, I mean AFTER installing CAM i download them. Then I install them. Then I try them out. I like growables, and I saw to may chocolate boutiques so sorry if you feel I'm doubting you.
All original growable buildings will still grow when CAM is installed. The will grow in their specific growth stage as created by the uploader. CAM gives you a number of extra growth stages. In order for your city to get buildings grow into these extra growth stages you need extra modded lot files ( CAMeLOTs ). The CAM only gives but doesn't take away ;)

I have installed the CAM over the past few days and played a region with it.. (just moved all my plugins out and started with new plugin and new region). I started from the docs and built it up.. took a long time.. I'm sure I probably did WAY more than I needed to, but was not really confident as to what I was doing and what the effects were.
I wonder if there is an "install CAM for dummies" kind of like this old Greyveil thread (http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=110&threadid=58510&highlight_key=y) on installing SC4? I realize it is pushing 4 years old now and is somewhat out of date, but it was the definitive "SC4 startup thread" for many years. Or maybe I'm just slow? :) Its too late for me, but some newer players might really benefit from somethiing like that.

Sorry for a late reply. I've been gone travelling for the past 24 hours.
At the moment there is no "CAM for dummies".
If someone wants to compile one, I would be grateful.
Otherwise, I have been thinking about adding something like that in the manual for the next release and/or in a thread here. ;)
Hmm, you have a point, SC4BOY. After I finish my current technical writing project of decoding what NVIDIA's Ubuntu drivers actually DO I'll take a crack at a CAM "cheat sheet."
Cheers,
Kevin
Well, I think I need somethiing. I have put literally hundreds of hours (SC4 related and "exploring" methods and items.. not just "put in CAM".. but very related) and dl'd several gigabytes of material and tried to religiously follow the threads and tools. And I am far from a computer illiterate.. yet I think I'm actually going backwards. There is a serious hole between the basic install (and where it would be a good idea to stop and play safely for a while) and where you start trying to follow the myriad threads on it. Cleanitol has been a MIRACLE in many ways, but it also is a serious CURSE.. everyone puts a cleanitol text out, but using it without CLEARLY UNDERSTANDING how out of date, or how it fits into the big picture is critical. I had things pretty good until I started (after having put all the base material in and dl's all things marked "CAM" pretty much. Then I went back to the CAM thread and started DL'ing links from the updates and using the cleanitol file. What actually happened is that I was overlaying and distroying in many ways the work I had already done. I dont know what the "magic answer" is but there has to be some kind of overview and revision control or I think we may be back into a very messy situation.. Sure things can usually be recovered in some form, but the work is HUGE and very frustrating when you start UNDOING things, yet thinking you are following the thread.
I love the idea.. probably the best idea since NAM but it is fraught with danger because its tentacles spread through and cascade across so many things..
Just the fact that there are now hundreds of CAMeLots available for download, doesn't mean you have to download them all! $%Grinno$%
Nobody playing RH would download all buildings available for RH either... ::)
Every CAMeLot being created is quite as optional as any custom content.
Actually, you don't need to download a single CAMeLot to start playing with the CAM.
There are quite a few CAMeLots included in the CAM mod itself, based on Maxis stage 8 buildings and landmarks. ;)
Once you had downloaded a few CAMeLots you love, you could have started to play.
Then you can continue to add more CAMeLots whenever you find an attractive one.

I am not sure just what you mean by this. Do you mean the way the lots were made and distributed? Unless we are given permission to make packs of the models the only way to produce the original lots was to link to the original models wherever they might be. Unfortunately that also meant that the original lots should be removed and only the models kept so Remove Lists needed to be supplied.
If you don't mean that, perhaps you could be a little more explicit in exactly what you do mean.

I am completely aware of WHY it is as it is.. this doesn't make it any less convoluted.. not much you can do about it.
But this interlinking and intertwining of links means that the ORDER in which things are done is critical in order to not mess up. There is nothing to prevent older items from overlaying and undoing or even messing up things that are already correct. Also "revision control" becomes a similar problem.. if you get a download and it is older than a more recent one and inadvertantly run it in the wrong order, it undoes and overlays what should not be changed or extracted.
I wish I had a suggestion as to how to control this and make it clear to the end user when to do what and how to avoid running something again later, thinking it is "right" but instead undoing what you had already made correct. If I had some clever idea, I'd offer it.. even offer to help if I could..
Only thought I had was to date updates so one could check. RippleJet said he'd try to do that.. at least that may prevent someone who's done the "CAM Install" process from going back and thinking that a change was new, only to mess up something he had already done.
I don't know how to handle the cleanitol sequence problem.
Don't know how clear I've been.. feel free to ask questions. Until you mess it up, you don't see this trap.. hehe.. at least I didn't. If I had a better memory maybe that would help.. they say that is the second thing that goes when you get old.. :)
You guys are working hard to make this work... don't take it personally.
Quote from: SC4BOY on December 08, 2007, 02:26:05 PM
I don't know how to handle the cleanitol sequence problem.
Normally there isn't really a problem.
The most common Cleanitol sequencing problem occurs in this way:
1. Batter A makes a bat and a Prop P, and uploads it, maybe as part of a lot.
2. Lotter B makes a lot and uses Prop P from the upload by A, which will be a dependency.
3. Batter A notices (s)he has made several props that are now scattered among several uploads.
4. Batter A decides to merge all his props into one big megapack and creates a Cleanitol file for it.
5. User C notices the recent megapack by Batter A and downloads it. He also runs the Cleanitol to remove outdated prop files.
6. User C finds and downloads the lot made by lotter B, and gets directed to the first upload by A for depencendy Prop P.
7. User C downloads Prop P in the first upload and installs it.
At this stage User C has Prop P in his plugins folder twice; the original one and included in the megapack.
This will, very marginally, slow down startup time when all exemplar files (e.g. props) are checked for links.
Once Prop P is appearing in the game, only one instance of the model file is loaded though, and won't make any difference.
If user C is an ordinary user, he won't even notice anything. ::)
If user C is a perfectionist, he saves the Cleanitol files that come with all megapacks and runs them every now and then, just to be sure he hasn't reinstalled any of the outdated prop files. He might also occasionally re-run Cleanitol with the
BSC Cleanitol MEGA files (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1329) that
capo made, to make sure he's always up-to-date.
To start demanding that all lotters, B1, B2, B3, ... would correct their uploads and point to the correct megapack for dependencies is futile. $%Grinno$%
The most critical problem the end user might encounter is the dreadful brown box. ()lurker()
At that stage, nothing is simpler than querying the lot with the brown box to get its name.
Then, post a question here, with a picture, asking what dependency is missing, and usually within an hour the problem is solved.

I downloaded everything here and ran the removal program on each list; however, when I start it up, the startup screens do not come up and with a Ctrl+alt+del, I get a message that GDriver Window--direct X is not responding.
I reinstalled DirectX and uninstalled / reinstalled SC4...no dice.
Can you help me?

As a follow up, the Cam Essentials Windows Pre-fetch is the culprit. I deleted it and SC4 came up as normal.
I assume this file is necessary for Cam to run properly. Any ideas why there is a conflict between this file and, I am guessing, Direct X? I'd like to fix this as I really like the idea behind this and would like to run it.
Thanks in advance.
One additional item...ALL of my previous plug in installations are not recognized even though they remain in the plug in directory.
Is that supposed to happen, or do I have to reinstall everything...weeks of downloads.

Neither the CAM nor the CAM Essentials (the query windows) has anything to do with the game's interaction with Direct X.
Actually none of the custom content for the game interferes with the game's internal graphics processor.
For diagnosing Direct X problems, Click <Start>, <Run> and enter
dxdiag.
Check all tabs and see if everything appears to be working correctly.
If that looks ok, reinstalling the game might be the best option.
Back up your plugins folder and regions folder, since you should still be able to put them back after reinstalling.

DX is fine. Installed, re-installed, uninstalled, reinstalled...tried to remove all CAM components but clearly something remains and is screwing up my game.
Now, it will boot, but after choosing a part of a region, as the screen blacks after prepping, the game stops and goes right back to my desktop.
I don't mean to sound like a jerk; however, I did not have these problems until I installed all components of the CAM. At this point, I just want it back as it was.
Can you give me a listing of files to look for that should be removed? I am truly at a loss and a bit irritated by all of this.

It is usually a very bad idea to install everything you've downloaded at once without testrunning the game in between.
The CAM itself is very small and won't use any of your RAM or Video memory.
However, if you've downloaded every available CAMeLot, maybe your computer resources simple are not adequate to handle them all...

If that won't help, then you would first have to reinstall the game itself.

I did this and everything was fine. By process of elimination, I tracked the problem to a specific .dat file. The name of the file is CP_Diagonalfix_Standard.dat. I am not sure which package it came with, but since deleting it, SC4 is back to normal...including CAM files.
My computer has plenty of resources; however, I will test run in between major installations in the future.
My apologies...THIS PROBLEM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CAM...that's for anyone who read this. I also apologize for my grumbling. My diagnostic mind was not running well when I posted for help.
Thanks for your assistance.

I wish I had a suggestion as to how to control this and make it clear to the end user when to do what and how to avoid running something again later, thinking it is "right" but instead undoing what you had already made correct. If I had some clever idea, I'd offer it.. even offer to help if I could..
I think that it is necessary for a cheat sheet of some sort. My best advice for installing CAM, and all the available CAMelots (or at least the ones you like), would be to do the following, in this order.
Preparing for CAM:
1) Move all other downloads out of your PlugIns folder, with the exception of NAM, and possibly any Civic buildings.
2) Download and thoroughly READ the CAM Manual.
3) Download and install CAM.
4) Play the game. It is best to start a new region.
Now that you have played CAM, it should be safe to re-insert your other PlugIns back into the folder. This should be done carefully, a little at a time, testing to make sure everything still works the way it did. Run Cleanitol periodically to check for InCAMpatible Mods. It is inadvisible to reinsert ANY skyscrapers or other Stage 8 buildings you have have downloaded in the past, as using these will throw off the CAM's process. If you insist on keeping these, it is best to keep them out of your PlugIns folder until the XTool is released, and you are able to make them CAMelots.
Installing All Available CAMelots, or at least the ones you like:
1) Download the CAM Megapacks.
2) Thoroughly read the README's for each one and gather the necessary dependencies.
3) Install Dependencies. Remember that sometimes even dependencies have dependencies, so again, READ the README's.
4) Run BSC Cleanitol to remove all of the original lots. (It should be safe to keep the Landmark versions if you'd like, but the original Stage 8 lots have to go.)
5) Install the CAMelots.
*It is best to play the game periodically, to make sure that everything is installing correctly, and that you aren't encountering any problems along the way.
*If possible, keep all of the Install Zips on your hard drive, or backed up to cd/dvd, for the inevitable re-install.
*It may be necessary to re-install the NAM, and any add-ons for it, upping the capacities and/or speeds to avoid overly clogged transit networks.
*If game start-up is slowing down too much, you should download and use DatPacker.
Also, from here on out, avoid downloading ANY stage 8 skyscrapers until the XTool arrives. (Or at least avoid installing them, as it will mess up your game.)
Hope this helps.
Thank you, xxdita! &apls
Well written and to the point!
Thanks RippleJet, hopefully at least someone will be able to learn from my mistakes.
I think what confuses people a lot is that the ReadMe files pops up at the end of the installation process, even though it also generally available in the zip file, as is the Cleanitol file. But that's looking at the instruction manual wondering where all the extra screws go after you've put your brand new entertainment center together. And using the Cleanitol AFTER installing the new lots could very well undo the entire installation, if by chance the same file name has been used for the lots. Though I've found that most CAMelots are named with the new Growth Stage, I did run into this problem with the new SG Education pack. So, better safe than sorry.

CP_Diagonalfix_Standard.dat is a plugin from the Diagonal Jagged Edges Mod (there are two of them, the player choose only one).
If you will remove them, you will have to make higher slopes (more than 28 m) to make good looking diagonal walls.
This mod causes some other side effects and needs a bit researching

Hi all, sorry for a possibly stupid question: After browsing tons of threads I still cannot figure out the sole purpose of CAM. Is "only" to append further growth stages (behind the normal maxis one) with bigger buildings? Or is there another important function that I missed to recognize?
That is the most importance addition provided by the CAM, especially for residentials and commercials,
which now can grow more naturally and above all can keep developing after the region has surpassed the old final thresholds as set in Rush Hour:
- 19,846 for R§, CS§, I-R and I-D
- 125,267 for R§§, R§§§, CS§§, CS§§§, CO§§, CO§§§, I-M and I-HT
With CAM, the region will continue to develop (change shape and not just grow) well up into the millions in occupancy.
These changes are far from the only ones though... :)
For industrials it was much a case of having the growth stages make sense...
The ingame lots wouldn't really upgrade the way they were set in Rush Hour.
Let's take a look at the ingame IM anchor lots to show this...
The table below shows the occupancy density for the ingame
IM Anchor lots as set by Maxis:
Growth Stage: | 1 | 2 | 3 |
Smallest Density: | 2.78 | 2.00 | 2.13 |
Highest Density: | 5.75 | 4.17 | 3.56 |
In order for lots to upgrade, they need to upgrade to a higher stage and to a higher density.
If most higher stage lots have a lower density, they lots simply won't upgrade though...
Now, one might think this was a single mistake by Maxis.
In addition to Anchor Lots, there are also so called Filler Lots, "Mechanical" and "Out".
The table below shows the occupancy density for the ingame
IM Mechanical lots as set by Maxis:
Growth Stage: | 1 | 2 | 3 |
Smallest Density: | 6.00 | 7.00 | 6.00 |
Highest Density: | 24.00 | 12.00 | 12.00 |
The next table shows the occupancy density for the ingame
IM Out lots as set by Maxis:
Growth Stage: | 1 | 2 | 3 |
Smallest Density: | 2.78 | 2.65 | 2.40 |
Highest Density: | 5.25 | 4.17 | 5.80 |
Finally, the last table shows the average density for all ingame
IM lots as set by Maxis:
Growth Stage: | 1 | 2 | 3 |
Average Density: | 5.50 | 4.01 | 4.24 |
As you can see, most ingame stage 1 IM lots simply have too high a density to ever upgrade into stage 2 or 3.
This same anomality appears also with ingame
IHT lots, especially from Growth Stage 2 to 3:
Growth Stage: | 1 | 2 | 3 |
Average Density: | 5.30 | 6.63 | 5.99 |
Only ingame ID lots appear to grow normally from stage 1 to 2 and further to stage 3.
CAM fixes the growth stages and occupancies of all ingame industrial lots, so that they can expand from growth stage 1 up, all the way to stage 10.
Farming is enhanced quite a lot in CAM.
Each additional Growth Stage in Farming is given a special purpose.
For more details, please read the CAM manual.
CAM also addresses some other fixes, that were not very well modded by Maxis:
- CAM takes into use two additional Stage CAPs that Maxis had left unused; the Park CAP and the Fire Station CAP
- CAM increases the desireability thresholds for §§ and §§§ lots, which won't grow as easy in CAM, and thus won't dilapidate immediately after they have grown
- CAM increases the Crime Attenuation vs. Police Protection, which helps to reduce crime in especially mega lots
- CAM fixes the Grand Railroad Station's reward requirements, so that it can be rewarded in the first place
RippleJet,
thanks for this comprehensive information . Judging the facts it looks like I now need to go through the manual in order to get CAM up and running asap ;D ... it was just that in my first attempt of reading the manual I discovered tons of restrictions, Do's and Dont's which than would result in "only" the city growing a bit larger.
Hey,
first of all my english is bad so.^^

well thx for the help and about the CAM mod i cant say now anything about it bc i dont used it(need to wait for the manual to do everything right).
The manual that is attached to the first post here does open up correctly. ;)
Thus, if you didn't get it downloaded completely, you might want to reset your internet cache (remove all temporary files) before trying to download it again.
Otherwise you probably get the same incomplete file every time.

The CAM Manual is also copied onto your hard disk when you install CAM itself.
However, I have also sent you the manual in an e-mail.
Let me know if you are able to open it from there.
does the inital CAM download come with any new buildings ?
No, it would be a lot bigger if it did.

I am running Sc4 deluxe. I downloaded CAM earlier today, and also downloaded some of bixels CAM lots. I started a new city on a previously used region with around 3-5 million people, I think like 5 million, and the only thing that grew was R$ I did not delete all of my non CAMeLots because I spent a very long time getting all of them. The non CAMeLots grew :), and even though I got tons of high wealth commercial, all I got was R$ why is that? If this problem persists I will be forced to delete CAM ()sad() It is very frustrating :angrymore: Please help.
P.S. I got the CAMpatible Block maxis buildings.
Obviously you've encourage the growth of R§§ and R§§§ more than R§ before in your region. Thus, it is quite normal that a newly established city only will get R§. This happens regardless of the CAM.
It's worth mentioning that even high wealth commercial offices and services (which will grow a lot if you have encouraged R§§§ earlier in your region), do not employ only R§§§:

Census Drives (Demand of Workforce)
The table below should be read from top to bottom for each column separately.
Eg. the column named CO$$ tells you that middle-class offices employ 10% R$$$, 50% R$$ and 40% R$:
Employer: | CO§§§ | CO§§ | CS§§§ | CS§§ | CS§ | I-HT | I-M | I-D | I-R |
Employs |
R§§§ | 15 % | 10 % | 8 % | 5 % | 0 % | 10 % | 5 % | 0 % | 0 % |
R§§ | 65 % | 50 % | 30 % | 27 % | 0 % | 80 % | 45 % | 0 % | 0 % |
R§ | 20 % | 40 % | 62 % | 68 % | 100 % | 10 % | 50 % | 100 % | 20 % |
Just a minor request.. I think the info in Workforce and Occupation Demands (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=963.0) and in CAM Workforce and Occupation Demands (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=1878.0) are both contained in the 1.0 CAM Manual.. however the remaining piece of the puzzle CAM Stage Limits and Threshholds (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=3578.0#lastPost) is not.
Of course I know that the release of the next version of CAM is imminent ;), I'd like to ask that that last item be added to the manual. Its among the goodies that are too wide on the message boards for me to read on my pc (but I can read it in pdf files.. :) ).. Thx
Hi to everyone. I need help about the CAM!!
I installed it just few days ago, with a lot of Camelots i found around. I also downloaded some new regions and i tried to start a new one using CAM for my first time.
I was then incredibly disappointed when i saw that, even after lots of attempts, all my buildings couldn't overhead the Growth Stage 3.... EVERYTHING, (commercial and residential) excepting Industrial buildings, blocked in GStage 1!!!!!! :((((
Pratically everything is blocked like when there isn't any kind of water supply, even when all my zones are fully supplied.
The weird thing is that CAM seems to work in old standard regions with previous started cities. I'm gonna think that the problem is in the new regions, above all.....but it's unprobable that both my new downloaded regions have the same bug :/
Anyway....please HELP!! I don't want remove CAM, not having tried it at least once! :(
Hi, please forgive me as this may have already been answered, I did look but could not find.
I have just discovered this game and after looking at a few help guides I was referred to here to download CAM. I've downloaded it but cannot find where I should extract the files to. In addition, I had a look at the cleanitol folder and it opens up in notepad with a load of .dat files in it. Is this all it is supposed to do or am I missing something?
Please don't kill the puppy.
First of all, I assume you're running the Windows version, with an installer?
Within the zip file you downloaded, you will find a setup program,
ColossusAddonMod_Setup.exe, which needs to extract the files into a temporary folder.
It doesn't matter where you extract them to, that folder can be deleted after the installation is complete.
Once you've extracted the files, open that newly created folder and run the ordinary installation program from there, also called
ColossusAddonMod_Setup.exe.
When you run that one, CAM will be installed, by default into the folder a_CAM under plugins. Do not select any of the traffic plugins though!

Hey guys.
I've been playing SC4D for a while and downloaded most lots and modds through STEX and LEX. When I saw this CAM thing I thought it was a great idea but the problem was I didn't know whether or not I had to delete the old lots and modds. I need to know what to do after I download CAM.
Plus Clearitol won't work for some reason.
Thanks,

I would at least delete all skyscrapers that you downloaded from STEX.
Replace them with the ones found on the LEX (everything on the LEX is CAMpatible).

Make sure you do have the two DLL files, which are listed as dependencies early in the
Cleanitol Guide for Users (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=3795.0).
Thanks RippleJet.
Good advice, but the bad side is that I got most if not all of my file from STEX... Ha!
So i guess a lot of work is in my future.
As for the Cleanitol, I'm confused as to where the DLL files go.
I put them in my Windows System32 folder ... I believe cleanitall will work if you put the DLL's in the cleanitall root. But all the neat tools that Wouanagaine has made for us gamers use those same DLL's - hence that's why I put them along with the other DLL's in the sys32 folder.
If you need the Cam Book in Tagalog or Arabic. I would be happy to help. God bless
Let me know when V2 is out and can send me the master so can do in my spare time...
There can't be that many people speaking both Tagalog and Arabic, in addition to English... I'm impressed! :)
I'd be delighted for any translations, but at this moment I'd ask you to wait for version 2.0.
CAM 1.0 and its manual will become obsolete later this year. ;)
While CAM seems like a great mod, what would really be nice is if someone could clump together all dependencies into the main download for each respective "starter pack" of custom lots (i.e. R, CO, CS, etc.). Otherwise, it's quite a disorganized headache to try installing them manually (and sometimes being rewarded with those notorious carboard boxes in your cities). Just a thought. Probably not an original one, but still my own two cents.
Still a great idea and mod, though.
Thanks,
farmerjohn
There are no dependencies for the actual CAM mod, only for the buildings to make full use of CAM. And, unfortunately, it would be a huge undertaking to clump together all the dependencies for all the buildings, as permission would have to be gotten from every single person that made every single building/prop/texture... And more than likely that would never happen
@travismking
Ah, well that's too bad. Looking at the comments sections for the building downloads, you can see some people who are disgusted with the lists of dependencies for the building packs. If this were to be done, it would probably be more appealing to a wider range of SC4 players - and it could really be marketed to the base of SC4 players like an expansion pack to the game itself (like the NAM).
Thanks for your response,
-farmerjohn

And got the 1606 error. Again. :'(
Is there a chance that this readme could come in a Notepad document or a URL?

There are many alternatives to Adobe as well. Try looking through Sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/directory/os:windows/?q=pdf%20reader). Just make sure that whatever you get is made for windows.
Is NAM a part in CAM?
Welcome malik01 :)
No. NAM modifies the transportation network, and CAM modifies the city growth simulator. There is a "promote bicycles" file in CAM, but it is old and should not be used.

there's a way (mod or somethings to) to know the "ACTUAL GROWTH STAGE" of a selected growable lot...??? that's for keep trace of all buildings that have abnormal capacity in paragon with camelot...

The answer is ... no mod.
This is how I do it in my game as I wonder at times what is growing and when. I mod all the buildings I've been downloading recently to provide the answers. I know when I query the below building that it is a high wealth commercial office growing at stage 7. I know the title of the building and the creator is JasonCW.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fileden.com%2Ffiles%2F2007%2F7%2F4%2F1237795%2Fcq1.jpg&hash=e178bdc2d354281393669c2f56b00a2206fba3d5)
The
other answer is ... time to get motivated.
I went through all my plugins way back when. Making sure all the building's had consistent statistics using the XTool. A right click will set the stats. The lots will open up and ask if you want to update. Click yes a couple of time. Click save a couple of times. Open the next building, repeat. I did it systematically by author. I did it over time so the process was broken down into manageable tasks.
Adding properties so the CAMeLOT counter will count and customizing the queries require additional modding. CAMeLOTs on the LEX already have that done for you. Buildings from other sites set to grow at stage 8, which really should grow at stage 12, need to be Xtooled to perform properly in a CAM environment.

I think it is safe to say that CAM 2 is not going to happen. It was an ambitious project. In the end, there were some problems that could not be ironed out.
There is a patch for CAM 1 in the works. It fixes the double demand bug of the original CAM. A release candidate is being tested by myself and a couple of others.

I am in the process of reinstalling Simcity, like last time I did this I want to use CAM, but decided then not to because of the double demand bug.
I think I read somewhere that there is a way to fix this on a fresh install. But since it isn't mentioned in the first post I am not sure if it actually do fix it.
So my question is. Is there a fix?
As far as I know there isn't an official patch for the double workforce bug yet, like Jim alluded to. However, if you follow the steps described here (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=14574.msg419326#msg419326) the bug will be fixed!

As far as I know there isn't an official patch for the double workforce bug yet, like Jim alluded to. However, if you follow the steps described here (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=14574.msg419326#msg419326) the bug will be fixed!
Thanks... I really don't understand why that isn't pinned or linked in the first post.. it is somewhat essential for a install.
I agree. Stickied and I'll add a link in the opening post.
Hi !
Thanks for the great mod - however I've got a problem, I downloaded your recomended .lot pack + the grafik packs but I still get alot of brown boxes ... am I doing anything wrong?
I just used the installer and the default path ...
edit : I checked the brown box files but the lot (for example the NVIDIA one, is not there)
Hey everyone, i'm glad to be a part of this awesome site, i love sc4 and i wish to add a little more life to it, i've already installed the NAM mod, and now i wanted to install the CAM, but there seems to be a problem, or maybe i missed something, as you can see i logged in successfully and was able to leave this reply, but when i go to download the CAM windows installer the site doesn't recognize my username and password.
Is the download mirror a third-party website where i got to make an account as well?
I'm sorry to ask such a dumb question, but i seriously can't seem to understand why the site won't let me download the file.
Best regards to all.
Edit : I read the Lex carefully and created an account, already downloaded. ;)
Glad you found a solution, Sol.Invictus.7k, and welcome to the site! :) I'm also relatively new to the site and there is just so much to find and explore with mods.
I really need some help here. Ever since I installed CAM, as well as many building mods, there is one thing that never happens...The Commercial Zone NEVER builds anything!!! It might build one or two building, and that is it, nothing more. Also, I have the BSC No Maxic mod as well. Please help!!!
As you blocked the Maxis buildings from growing, you probably lack for buildings to fill stages 1-8 and you haven't reached the population limits where skyscrapers grow like weeds.
How can I get 1-7 buildings?
The quickest way would be to remove the Maxis blocker :P. However, the LEX contains most everything you need or want, you'll just be doing a lot of downloading. Just start going after the different categories: Residential, commercial, industrial and you'll begin forming an idea of what you want out of this.
Any links you could give me? I have been modding the game for the last 3 days and this is the last thing I need.

Just go to the LEX, select Power Search from the Search drop down. In the LEX category field, select the type of CAM buildings you want and start downloading.
Be very careful and meticulous. Make sure you use the Cleanitol files, and make sure you read the Readmes to make sure there are not additional steps after the installer.
I concur the best thing is to get rid of the Maxis blocker. There are some very nice Maxis buildings, and once you have enough other bats installed it is not too much hassle to bulldoze the bad ones when they pop up.
A bit unrelated, but I really like most Maxis buildings/lots. The majority of models are highly detailed, scaling is close enough to not be noticeable most of the time, and to this day there are a few occupant groups that would have no/few lots for certain sizes without including the Maxis ones.
I'd say the biggest problem, with CAM, is the way Maxis did stage 8. You have some buildings in stage 8 that should be much higher, others that should be stage 7. While RippleJet and others did alter these stages, they did so without severing the small buildings from the group so it can turn into a bit of a mess.
Well, not sure if this thread is still alive? But it ssems to be the official CAM thread. I just downloaded CAM and tried to install the "CAM standard". However when it comes to the point where "SimCity_1" should be DatPacked, I just receive an error ("Errors occured - see ".../SC4DatPacker.exe.log for details"), and this logfile states:

I'm running Win10 ..
Thanks
I take it you're trying to install CAM 2,1? Try installing the dll dependencies for DatPacker, then run the installer again.
The dependencies for DatPacker (https://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=26) are available via link by clicking the Dependency button on that download page.
Well, yes, indeed, the first problem was the dll thing of the Datpacker itself. Shame on me.
However, even though the DatPacker now runs fine when started independently, it cannot be called by the CAM installer, I receive the same error message. To come around this, I maually packed the resulting SimCity_1 directory.
But now, after finishing the install, the installer tells me: "Installatoin finished. Uninstalling" - and then moves on and uses the Cleanitol to remove some filed from the plugins directory.
So I've deleted all CAM directories in the plugins folder and started over. At the point of the failed call of the DatPacker, I have the following files in my plugin folder:
/SimCity_1/SimCity_1.dat
/SimCity_1/z_CAM_2.1.0_Stand_Permanent Merge.dat
For these, I do the manual DatPacking, which gives me the following within the Plugins folder:
Plugins_Compressed/SimCity_1.dat
/SimCity_1/SimCity_1.dat
/SimCity_1/z_CAM_2.1.0_Stand_Permanent Merge.dat
/a_CAM
The installer tells me to not forget to merge the files .. well, done that already. Now here comes the weird message box: "CAM has been installed. Uninstalling." ()what() ()what()
Now it starts the Cleanitol and whoops there goes my compressed SimCity_1.dat.
FInal message is: "You have sucessfully installed CAM 2.0". Well, kind of ... :D
However, my final question is: are the compressed SimCity_1.dat and the a_CAM the only files necessary for CAM to work? In that case ican just copy it back and remove the uncompressed ones.
Thanks
If you're manually installing, then you should leave the installer alone. Exit out of it, if you have to.
I didn't follow the directions precisely for my own install of CAM 2.1, as I have extra stuff datpacked into SC1.dat. But if you're doing a manual install, then I would recommend downloading the MAC version, so that you have all the different playstyles to choose from, as you please.
But yes, you should only need the DatPacked SimCity_1.dat and at least one playstyle in your a_CAM folder. In that a_CAM folder, you should have 2 subfolders: a_Core, with the CAM Main Controller and the playstyle you choose, and Core Maxis Buildings, which will have in it CAM_2.1.0_Buildings.dat.
You should be able to find any files removed by Cleanitol in your Documents\SimCity 4\BSC_Cleanitol folder, in a subfolder with the proper date.
If you see anything in that folder that you'd like to use with CAM, then I can take a look at it to see what sort of compatibility issues there may be.
