You're adding it to your profile? Just click on Forum Profile Information, then scroll down to signature. Make sure you click on save profile when you're finished. There have been times I've not been able to update my sig, but I can't remember what the problem was.

RippleJet

Note also that the signature accepts all BBC Codes, but no HTML codes.
In order to test your signature you can design it in a post (preview it but don't post it)...
Then copy the content from that (previewed but unposted) post into your profile's signature.

Examples:

This is Nate's signature (see its appearance in the post before mine):

Um... uh... [url=http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=3639.0]Cleanitols for free![/url]
[img width=50 height=50]http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k301/ditareinvented/YoYo%20and%20CiCi/yoyo147.gif[/img][url=http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=7120.0]LEX Scrutineers - Making sure Santa can get down the chimney[/url]

And this is my signature (see it's appearance below):

thanks guys,
I don't really understand much about either BBC or HTML. What I am entering is this [*url=http://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=9362.0[/url] (minus the star)

I have just copied and pasted one of your examples and changed the address.

It's only showing up in preview mode when I get rid of the url= bit, when I enter my thing (minus the star) it shows up blank.
What am I doing wrong?

JoeST

Hey, you dont need any bbcode in that field, just but the url in it (the http:// bit)

But if you are trying to add a signature, you should put the code in the big blank field above that bit. just copy this in, and change what you want to change:

[url=http://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=9362.0]thingfishs BAT thread[/url]

which will appear as below:

thingfishs BAT thread

I get it now, thankyou all for the swift responses

You also need to remember to close the field. So it should be [*url=blahblahblah]type stuff here[/url] without the *.

hmmm.. I've tried to search for a specific number (any one, but for example 24653) and the search shows no match... Is there some code delimiters that need to be put around the number? I tried a couple off top of my head, but decided it's easier to ask. I also looked for an "advanced search" that gives me more options, but didn't find one. Send me to a page if its already available.. sorry.

xxdita

Actually, I'm not sure about this. A search for 737, which I would expect to lead me to SCAG's 737 project, turned up nothing. But a search for 747 lead me appropriately to an AC thread. Strange behavior.

jeronij

Close your string wiht "" quotes  ;)  - membership permissions do also affect the search results list -
I am currently not active - Please, contact Tarkus for any site related matter. Thanks for enjoying SC4D :D

Also, you can try doing an Advanced Search if your search doesn't pan out any results.

SC4BOY

Hmm.. well I had already tried both of those with no results. Tried it again just to verify. I was specifically looking for some threads which were discussing texture files and I know they were 256, 512, 1024, etc. It doesn't matter if I use quotes or advanced search, it always shows no result, yet I know those are in the message threads.

xxdita

Too weird. I'm able to search for 1024 and find results quickly. Searching for 256 or 512 gives me nothing, even with Advanced Search. Although a search for 16 does...

But, there's always the Google Search Bar as well.

Just remember to add the string site:http://sc4devotion.com/forums to get results strictly from here.

RippleJet

Obviously words like 128, 256 and 512 are not indexed in MySQL...
The only mentioning is in the help text to the search index:

Quote from: SMF Search Index Help
Note that a search index can take up quite some space. A fulltext index is a built-in index of MySQL. It's relatively compact (approximately the same size as the message table), but a lot of words aren't indexed and it can, in some search queries, turn out to be very slow. The custom index is often bigger (depending on your configuration it can be up to 3 times the size of the messages table) but it's performance is better than fulltext and relatively stable.

Our search is currently based on the fulltext index.

Hi ,

I've a problem ... ( sorry , no monkey to show  :P )

As guest , I can see and read  SFBT Creations as child board of SFBT Place , but , wanting to comment , as soon as I'm logged in , this child board disappears and when I try to log in directly on the child board I've got this reply instead : « The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you. »
I tried to browse Andreas' last posts through his profile and all his posts concerning that child board are missing too ... any idea of what's happens ? I'm using IE 8 but I don't notice such problem elsewhere . ::)

Thanks .

Cédric.

Apparently, your permission settings are screwed up - maybe due to the "SC4D Subscriptor" member group (which is, of course, very unfortunate ;) ). One of the SC4D admins should be able to have a look, though.
Andreas

RippleJet

Not permissions, but access rights... SFBT Creations wasn't the only board you did not have access to... ::)
Hopefully, everything is now the way it should for you, Cédric. Let me know otherwise! ;)

I know this is a little bug, but I'll tell you anyway!

When I Googled SC4D, it came up with the normal results, but the link to the site says its offline ??? Of course it's wrong, and I can still access the site, but is anyone else having this problem?

Ryan

@carkid1998,
I know the reason
The URL address we usually use is started with "http://sc4devotion.com/*", but the results of the address are started with "http://www.sc4devotion.com/*"
When we access the site with that address, the browser doesn't use the cookie of "http://sc4devotion.com/*" and create a new cookie of "http://www.sc4devotion.com/*", so it said you're offline. ::)

Edit: Grammar...

2010.8.4 - I get on SC4D with PSP. So cool.:D
2010.8.14 - I can get on the Internet at home.:)

JoeST

bobbie has it in one ;)

it should probably be changed...
