At the top of the Coat of Arms is a fleur de Lys, Tientsin has been a french concession since 1835, Supporting the shield are a Lion protecting the city and a Dragon representing chinese culture and St George. In the shield, there is a Lion (the saint of the city is Saint Mark) and two chinese boats.

If I start a topic without picture , it is because I had a problems to create my region, the new NHP one " NHP Whitefall By Shadow Assassin ", on ST ( http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=19047 ) is amazing, but SC4M or T doesn"t work on my computer ( I had the picture of NHP production, but then nothing appears....) So If someone could help me I would be very pleased !

Looks like a very interesting region to have a city. Interesting to see what the cities are like.

What is the extend of current French influence in Tientsin??

Is it possible that some foreign characters have caused your problem with the mapper? I know some characters can mess up some of the tools.. and if you are trying to use chinese characters, etc that MAY be a problem.. Good luck.

Thanks all !! (still don't have all the mlugins I need, but Simtro search is buging...) The region planing has started. Today a little preview of Tai Po (the Tientsin's Pudong) and a map of "Ile de Tientsin"

As Emperor Stormont asked. Here lillte recap of how France interact in Tientsin since 1830. Today France has a powerful influence in Tientsin. The French Consulat is the largest one in China (located in Fort-Bayart Town), located in the former Presidential Palace. Now Tienstin is a SAR, like Honk Kong? Tientsin has inherirted from France the aim to promote Human Rights and Democracy.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg175.imageshack.us%2Fimg175%2F6525%2Ffortbayart1ld6.jpg&hash=fa0f9a5361e04e8ca15503c2d1c088e102df92c1)

Old Town (tientsin): is a quite large square  where the Tientsin Castle is located and some old town now listed on Tientsin "monuments historiques"'s list.

French Town
( Fort Bayart) is the french part of Tientsin built in from 1834 to 1867 with a "beaux arts" plan and a replica of Notre Dame of Paris

Louis-Philippe Park borders the Old Town and the French Town, created to honnor Louis Philippe king of France ( July Monarchy)

Lafayette-Ville contains most of the 20s and 30s buildings. People compare Lafayette-ville to the Bund in Shanghai

St George's Presqu'ile was the summer location for FortBayart's Happy Few. Today the presqu'ile is a protected area to preserve this architectural heritage

St Genevieve University
is largerst French University in Asia, founded in 1856 by Napolean III

Tai Po
was the former Tientsin harbour. Today Tai Po is a ever growing CBD of Tientsin.

Funny, I thought I posted here.

Well, I like how the teaser's going, and good choice of location for the city, by the way.

Still having one or two problems with your plugins folder, or did you forget to get a dependency - there's a huge box just below the 'e' in French Town.

But I love how that covered walkway fits in between the buildings.

Pat : thanks, it's just so comfy to get a game that bugged less :)
oldrogue: thanks
bat : thanks, it didn't go as speed as I want since I have to get that "Asian feeling" with a touch of Europe.
Une_ame: merci beaucoup !
suplado! : thank you , this region (by SA) is wonderful !
Filasimo ! thanks. For the covered walkway, I've found it on a japanese website (I've search it again and again, the only thing I'm sure fo i that it's on Snoreli's japanses websites list), it's called Arcade.
Shadow Assassin : thanks !! (I had some problems (hte St panras station, when Simtropolis wasn't working, no it's repair) Your map is awesome, just enought big and full of possibility !!
kwakelaar : It needed something more challenging, something fresh, and I think recreation of a former chiniese concession was a great thing to do
: sauron620: thanks

So like the previous updates, the city isn"t enough advanced to get a proper updates. Let's start with a map of Tientsi-Ile

This map shows the 4 administrative divisions of the Municipality of Tientsin (the municipality is a part of Tientsin SAR) and the highway and railway system.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg340.imageshack.us%2Fimg340%2F710%2Fregionjo9.jpg&hash=a7c36231d8cc6128fe457f64f964bb1866fc3631)

Transportation System : The Island of Tientsin is quite higly iragted by public transportation with metro , el-rail and tramway lines. The regional Railway system has 6 stations on the island. The Motorway system is not well developed on the Island, due to the prescence of a lot of large roads. Highways are free

In blue, Fort Bayart-Tientsin's District is the what we called the "Old Town", It hosts the Tientsin-Ile Town Hall, St George Cathedral, the Tientsin SAR Parliament and most of the embassy.

In Orange, Kennedy-Baoshan District is mostly a residential district with a lot of "à la Hong Kong" public housings.

In Yellow, Tai Po-Shai Pek District was a rural area until the construction of Lafayette boulevard in the 20s. Today it's the hearth of Tai Po Buissness Developement Zone (TPBDZ), the burstling new downtown of Tientsin.

In Green, (http://xn--saint%20george%20et%20sainte%20geneivive%20dsitrict-vpe) is the less populous part of Tientsin(s Island. It's protected space. It hosts the Sainte Geneviève University.

Actual developement of the region:

Quick History Facts

The territory of Tientsin was ceded to France in 1830, when the Monarchy has been re-established. When France took the soverignity in Tientsin, François, last of child of the Duke of Nemours and exil compagnion of Louis Philippe, was apointed to be the Duke-Governor of Tientsin, He was the First Duke of Fort Bayart.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fupload.wikimedia.org%2Fwikipedia%2Fcommons%2Fthumb%2F3%2F35%2FLodewijkNemours.jpg%2F180px-LodewijkNemours.jpg&hash=545a7a98ed53979c17946ac573543003c08278d1)
Franois, Duc de Fort Bayart
[/i]

In 1875, Charles Duke of Fort Boyart is deposed, he still the Duke of Tientsin, but the Governor-power is transfered to Prefect-Governor named byt the President of the French Republic.

Even if the Duke has no more political power, he still a strong personality in Tientsin.

No pic sorry !

Hello,
Thanks you very much for the comments !! TOday it's time to look at Saint George Avenue, the central promenade of the french Town.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg204.imageshack.us%2Fimg204%2F222%2F02zu8.jpg&hash=d9846322291ebeeb12a715623833ad667ba57842)
Avenue Saint George was the fashionable promedanade for bourgeoise people back in the XIXth Century. Now Saint George Avenue resumes quite clearly was the french town is now : a pot pouris of old and low-quality buildings. A major restructuration plan is curruntly in porject at the Town Hall to requalify the "Place Saint George" in front of the Cathedral.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg253.imageshack.us%2Fimg253%2F2285%2F01ng1.jpg&hash=616ddaa4c83c0515296b11fbf9553ef63c5afb2b)
In the 90s, a unused park on Avenue Saint George has been open to construction. The Duc de Nemours tower has been errected. It's the highest point of the french town. Many people called it the "90s Mistake". It shows how the city has been managed from the 80s to 90s at the begining of the Economic Boom.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg242.imageshack.us%2Fimg242%2F2643%2F03zw6.jpg&hash=e66420f5f4abd53ce4a1da2b013463d9bdd7e2ea)
Behind Saint George Cathedral, starts Louis Philippe Park with a statue of the french monark.

Next time the banks of Saint George...

Excellent update here, you've managed to combine European and Asian elements really well. Just two things that irk me a little but don't really distract from the quality of the pictures. First the sidewalks I don't think fit very well. And perhaps one way streets instead of two two ways?

Anyway looking forward to more.

Wow...you combine Asian and European buildings really well here!  And I love those strip-plazas...they look awesome!  Heh heh...you took a bit more time with that cathedral in your town than I did in mine (I just plopped it in the first block I found that would fit it...%wrd).

One thing, though...some of your skyscrapers appear to come out of nowhere; nice mid-sized buildingsSKYSCRAPERnice mid-sized buildings, you know?   Just something I noticed...

I like what's going on in here, though !  I'll try and come around more often... ;)

Today we didn't go far awat from "Promenade Saint George", just on the banks, a part of one of the longest boulevard of Tientsin: Boulevard Lafayette. There's it "Quai de Nemours" '(Nemours' Banks).

Nemours' Banks is an important point on Tientsin public transportation map, here , most of the subway, buses, tramway's lines stop and The Saint George Railway Station, the biggest one is just metter away . During Rush hours it's quite a dangerous place !

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg151.imageshack.us%2Fimg151%2F7682%2F05mb5.jpg&hash=b041039760ca3ac9356ed5bfb37850bb9d451a9d)
"Quai de Nemours" are directly connected to the "Promenade Saint George" (the prespective of the cathedral); The Gates are callled Napoleon Gates, it came from the wall of the old fort, which has been destroyed to create the "New Town"

Nemours's Bank is quite a busy place.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg204.imageshack.us%2Fimg204%2F3896%2F04af9.jpg&hash=b19df97c0dcf53895eb7b159c05c4fc66380c018)(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg204.imageshack.us%2Fimg204%2F4220%2F048sy2.jpg&hash=7f0c7695b66abc190dee5198c97ede404a2587d8)
Nemours' Banks and a little overview of Bayart-South, an old "getho" area, complety destroyed by japanese during WWII. After the War, the area became one of the First Skycraper Nest in Tientsin.

and Tientsin's wiki is under construction ....

Back on the tracks !

So today, some parts of the Old City.

The old City of Tientsin (Vielle Ville), also know the chinese town is a roughly a rectangle, formerly circled by walls, destroyed in the late XIXth. The old city is quite well preserved, some european architecture can be found inside the walls, but mostly is hasn't been touched. We canot say that for the others districts outside the walls, all of them has been detroyed in the XIXth century.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg300.imageshack.us%2Fimg300%2F8738%2F04xk8.jpg&hash=b3448dd3206b75d3401beac2da46bfe3cb990b92)
In light blue, the pre-french urbanization, in Dark blue the Walled City of Tientsin. In less than 70 years, more than 50% of the traditional urbanization on Tientsin Isle has been detroyed. Since the Preservation Act of 1972, all those heritage is protected. Outside of Tientsin Isle on Tientsin Mainland, the situation is far better, most of the old cities has been preserved with view european intrusian , so do the monastries and temples.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg45.imageshack.us%2Fimg45%2F1259%2F01yp8.jpg&hash=1036f21de55f3ca11f4df9ddba6b14264a74aff7)
Before the city had a very important canal system, but know only two remains, named Xianz Canals.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg170.imageshack.us%2Fimg170%2F5657%2F02fk8.jpg&hash=64930f239755ac7e050af102efa6f172e5880f5a)
Facing the Tientsin Castle, the Palais des Jesuistes ( Company of Jesus Palace) is one of the only example of the "Jesuits" era in Tientsin among the Holy Mary of Tientsin Church.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg135.imageshack.us%2Fimg135%2F6425%2F03ajg1.jpg&hash=1ca7b3b23867baa86454980ffc96d649110449db)

The former walls of the city has been replaced by large avenue in the 1870s, making the old city an island in an ocean of bigger structure.

QuoteYet the place of the Simplypic games has to be decided. Jean Duval-Teng, NOC president, has told the press that during a recent meeting with Fort Bayart Mayor and Prefect Governor, the location of the Olympics wouldn"t been held on Tientsin Isle but in Lachine or Carrière Districts : first to not but more presure on the real estate market in Tientsin Isle and to have a unique chance to develop modern infrastructure in Lachine or Carrière district.

Today it's Roc-à-Pic time !

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi217.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fcc318%2Fvesfalo%2Fheader.jpg&hash=b60d4ced0bad33eae26bdf7fb470f3bab418fc10)

Roc-à-Pic lies just next to Fort Bayart, crossed by the 10km long Boulevard Lafayette. Roc-à-Pic was at the end of the XIXth century a summer destination for some wealthy famillies of Fort Bayart, it's was nicknammed the litle tientsinese Riviera.
During WWII the japanese bombed most of the houses, today just a few remain. In the 60s with the will of George Pompidou, Roc-à-Pic was rebuilted around the project of France-Expo.

Dugommier Street is now dominated by the Centre Admnistratif Dugommier , built in 1981. As you can see, just a few structures remain from the WWII

thanks folks ! Well , let's have a break from Independant Cup , History break !!!

First a region shot, as you can see Tientsin is growing fast :)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg22.imageshack.us%2Fimg22%2F690%2Fregionsamplest1.jpg&hash=87ccf844339aad88952a166ef1eed6a8d62e6e2a) (http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc318/vesfalo/region1.jpg)

1-What Historians call Tientsin Dynastic Period started around 120 BC. A Engraved stone had been found in a temple in Sainte Genevieve. On the " Temple Stone" is written the priest of Hau (候), who describe himself as King of Tientsin.
From 120 BC from XVIth century AD, not much happened; usal things, conquests, things like that, you can picture :)
The reign of Li Hongzhang (李鴻章) starded the real growth of Tientsin Kingdom. Tientsin Castle was built, the City Walls as well, and some summer castle.
In 1589, Tientsin Dinasty acorded the right of setlement to the Compagny of Jesus. 50 years latter, Kangxi (康熙), son of Li Hongzhang became christian. He will not be followed by his sons, but a certain tolerance has been instaured in Tientsin. At the begining of the XVIIth century about an half of Tientsin Population was Catholic.
In 1640, Portugal Kingdom signed a land leased with Tientsin for  a liltle island as well as a trading post in Tientsin Harbour.

2-Due to a sucession problem, Tientsin fall into civil wars. Although, the civil war ened in 1662,this resulted of the weakness of Tientsin's army against China.
In 1670, The Ming Dinasty declated war against Tientsin. On April 1671, , last of king of Tientsin, has been sent to jail in Beijing. The kingdom became a vasal of China, and a new Dinasty coming from Beijin. This new Dinasty will act more governor that king. During this period, Tientsin wasn't a secure city with many riots and crime. The Tientsin people tried hard to gain their freedom back.
The Portugal trading post lease was transfered to the Ming Dinasty and  extended in 1720 to Saõ Cristofao, Ilha Grande and Wo Shau Island.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg18.imageshack.us%2Fimg18%2F402%2F81131495mq2.jpg&hash=8257cc43345e66ea370a6b2f0a541f45489449f3)
1- In 1820, Tientsin was incorporated to Imperial China, causing riots. With the restoration of the Company of Jesus in 1810, a French Jesuits Hipolythe de Couet was sent to a mission in China. He heard of the situation of Tientsin. Hipolythe tries to make France intervene in the conflict, but the french political instability didn't help his aim and no other european countries wanted to intervene. His dream was to create a Chinese Catholic State.
He begged the French Monarchy for help, with no respond.

2-In 1840,The recently created July Monarchy, searching a "fait d'armes" to proof its legitimity try to convince China to sell Tientsin to France.Because of the nightmarish positions of Chinese Representants and the un-strategic position of Tientsin, China accepted to sell Tientsin Island, where most of the Catholics resided, but keep the control over Tientsin Mainland. With the Convention of Tientsin, the Duchee of Fort Bayart is created.
