Highway Transportation and Regional Access

Here is Your Highway Challenge 10, soulchaser.

This is the most difficult Challenge in the series of Eleven Challenges in all (Plus the final/conclusion in 12). This challenge is to test your mayorly patience and logical sense of planning and construction. Use all your Mayor skills to make it practical, logical and beautiful looking.

The highway itself  is shown in RED and is allowed to change into an Avenue (Boulevard) on 3 different tiles only, so choose your locations well. You may build only 50% or so of an avenue in each tile though, the rest will have to be highway (any form of it). You are not allowed to build any avenue in the country, only within town- or city- limits. Building an Avenue is an option (maybe even a relief in some cases) and is not demanded for.

RED CIRCLES indicate where the 2 Highway Intersections demanded should be, it may differ from one Player to another whether it is three, four or more directions.

YELLOW CIRCLES indicate where we would like to see the access ramps to the highway. You may build as many access ramps as you wish, as long we see these 3 indicated ones in their locations.

Remember that the *PLAN* can be discussed and negociated and may be alternated to a certain degree. Up to you to give us your suggestions. First study your situation with the plan given and then offer us the results of capability and/or demands for alternations before starting building. It is the Governor's final decision who should be respected at the end, and of course, be executed as such. Only a certain amount of alternation though can be negciated and/or will be accepted. In general the plan should be executed as drawn as much as possible (shown) on the map above, unless you have valid good reasons to ask for needed changes or alternations.
ONLY after the Governor has given his official confirmation and the *Green* light, you may start the regional construction.

After the Governor's confirmation of construction, you may show us your progress with several posts and pictures while you're constructing through the region. Only once finished the Challenge, we will ask you for the pictures needed for the judgement, again, they will be individually demanded.

In Your case...

...the highway will start in tile G on the northern quarter and will also have its first intersection there with one part heading north into tile D and the other part not far ending with a on/off ramp into the town. Then northern part will be more tricky because we demad you to build your highway onto the small peninsula and cross the river to reach the big island in tile D. From there a sharp curve and hops.....over the other river heading east following the shore without demolishing anything that was there on the river's banks. In other words you will have to do some terraforming (do some filling) here and there so that the highway will be right on the river banks. On tile B, just near the foot of the mountains and before the borders of tile C will be the second intersection with one part going back straight into the south and crossing the river again and exiting to the neighbor and the other part continuing its way to the east and ending with a on/off ramps to the airport. Ha, that should be easy, right? ;)

Pictures needed of Your Challenge 10:

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

..........(coming up after confirmation of Construction from the Governor and after the end of the regional construction).........

We wish you good luck with this last enormous Project of GRV II and hopefully enjoy while executing it. No rush, take your time. ;)
We also will be anxious to see your project advancing as you hopefully will show us with pictures as you slowly wind through the region.

Fred (Lynn will be present for the judgements later)

To:

Governour B.

The Traffic Department of Bordertown welcomes the Governour's plans on a Highway, but has some complaints to the Head of Planning.

There are some problems on who is responsible for the work.

In Part A, the problem is small: We could displace the Highway a bit to the north, so all the responsibility will be with the small village.

In Part B, the problem is bigger: Most of the Highway is right on the borders of the departments, what is quite hard to handle.

                                Suggestions:

    • Adjust the East-West-Passage to the about 500 m to the North, so it will be crossing the whole settlements till it's finally bypassing the eastern part on the north. That way, the southern part of the small mining settlement could also benefit from the Highway.

    • Move the North-South-Axis east, so the Harbour could also benefit.

Yours Sincerely

O.-W. Roads
Head of TDB

Mayor Soulchaser,

I cannot see Part anywhere on your picture, if you have uploaded 2 pictures, then I only see 1 with Part B. Before I make any comment on your suggestions I will have to see Part A. Thank you

Governor

Mayor Soulchaser,

Thanks for the picture, I still haven't figured out why I cannot see it. Anyways, your suggestions have been studied over and are fully accepted. The most important thing we would like to see is the construction on the river without destroying or changing the natural and build-over riverbanks as indicated on the map.
Good luck, we are eager to see the progress.

Governor

Nice going! I really enjoyed the *fitting in* of your highway with only taking the minimum space needed. Especially the rail over Highway is well done. I loved that part personnally. Excellent work sofar.

Nice job, Soulchaser.

I liked the construction lot ahead of the highway, gave a nice feel to something being built.
