So I have decided to make an MD  ;D . This region is fictional and not based on any real cities. I do draw upon influences however to showcase my city building abilities.

Some of you may notice unreleased content. As a NAM Team member I will try to only showcase work that I have made. If it is made by someone else I will give credit accordingly.

I will appreciate any comments about how things can be done better.

I hope to update this MD every 2 weeks but Sometimes things may pop up in RL

Nice rail curves in picture 2. I'm not good at rail systems so I like to see complex rail works like yours  :thumbsup:

Stephen, it's fantastic to see you MDing! :thumbsup:  Definitely a great demonstration of FlexTrack in there, and what looks to be a couple of rather nice smaller/rural towns as well.  The way you've dealt with the terrain in the first town pic is especially masterful--the way the farms are sitting especially caught my eye.

Thanks Kergelen  :thumbsup: Well when the Flextrack gets released there will be so many options for all of you to make the railways that you desire. I can't wait to see what people think of the new track.

Thanks Alex  :thumbsup: I do try to use engineering principals for realism in my region. The demonstration of the RRW FlexTrack is to Test the files and show what the FlexTrack can do. I especially like the comments about dealing with the terrain. Thank you  :)

Thanks Erik  :thumbsup: The region is 24 x 26 kilometers in size. It is quite small but I like small but diverse regions  :D

As for the lake I do plan to showcase it when I finish it with spillways and have textured the dam wall  ;)

Quite a wonderful MD you've been working on there, Eggman. I have to say I didn't expect you to start one, nice. :)

Some really nice stuff there.. Of course what catches my eyes the most is the RRW development (BTW, don't forget your OSITM. ;) )

I see I'm not the only one who likes to build on islands. :)

This is Eggman's sandbox test city. Only he can do certain things with the railway and other networks  ;D

Thanks Art128. I am using the Rural Roads for my main basic highway system. So stay tuned for more additional road content.

I am starting to get some time to work on the Rails. Most of what is functional is in NAM 34 already. As for the road I have plans for further expansion  ::)

I think it looks great! We always need more RRW bridges, especially of the more grungy modern kinds. If I really had to be critical, though, I'd say the concrete beneath the rail bed is surprisingly untainted considering how weathered the steel beams are... But anyway, that's nitpicking on a very detailed level and again the bridge looks really great! (Beside a maxis bridge it looks rather out of this world :D)

Nice looking bridge! However the part of the bridge deck underneath the truss section of the bridge looks a bit too bulky. Generally you don't find truss bridges looking like that in the real world. The way that deck looks is fine for the beam bridge approaches, but where the truss section of the bridge is, not so much.

I like the bridge construction much better, but the deck still suffers from being too clean.

Either some check rails, or the standard rail textures would be better, in my opinion. The concrete deck looks far too clean for how weathered the beams are, and tbh I liked it better when the beams were weathered more. :-\

This is a very nice bridge indeed. Of course it still needs some work (specially the pillar's texture) but otherwise that's a solid alternative to Maxis' truss bridge!

Thanks APSMS. I have updated the bridge with a new deck. Modeling can be quite challenging and I still need to get a good grasp of it in the future  ;)

Ok So with the new FlexTrack taking shape I have been able to get this one out.

I don't know if I'd go as far as using OWR for actual long stretches of fast roads. But the ability to make proper turning lanes and spurs with OWR is certainly something that's been missing until now. Are the spurs based on the NWM OWR-1? Because that would really increase my usage of it if you can do this.

Ditto.  Only one question, if one is using one-way roads for both the highway and ramps, what color will the ramps show up in the Region view?  Also I notice some awesome new road intersections.  Would love to see the same for ramp intersections also. &idea

Hello everyone!

My region of Emerald Island is back and this time I would like to showcase some of the new Real Railway texture sets I have been auto generating. It is next to impossible to maintain a MD while heavily creating content. Luckily I make backups of my region (Lots of them) so if I don,t like some thing in my region I can fix it. I have gone back to one of my earlier copies. Near to where I started. This was brought upon by the the new seaports by Tyberius06 and his new seaport lotting which IMHO are more to my liking than the BSC ones.

Stephen, welcome back to the realm of MDing! :thumbsup:  Emerald Landing looks like a nice rural town of yore, and I really enjoy seeing the way you've seamlessly incorporated a sampling of your many substantial and amazing NAM projects into the equation.  I'm certainly getting inspired on the rail front for a possible next region based on this here.  Top notch stuff all around, for sure.

Edit: Also, I'll use my admin powers and put your MD back in the active Recently Published area.

Very beautiful scenery, the texture of the rails is great too! I like the rail viaduct which passes above the street SAM. Great update! &apls

You are too kind Alex  :) I think the "your" should be "we" It has been an amazing ride and We are both now ready to bear the fruits of our work! I am so humbled to be part of a great and helpful community.

Too mention a few (Too many great contributors to mention  ;D ) Rivit, MGB204, Simmer2 and myself have Been the pass and key to unlocking the full potential of the RRW with the Automated Re-texturing Mod by ourselves, Various Lots from MGB204 and Simmer2 and of course Rivit who has been behind the scenes to make a vast quantity of this work and be fully automated!

The NAM Team who we are part of have made alot of this possible. We see long time members coming back too rediscover SC4 with new content. Really the whole community needs a pat on the back.

I am starting a rural region and will modernize as time goes on too keep a timely touch  ;)

Yeah. Many thanks too Swordmaster for setting the framework when he was last active. The ERRW should be another game changer when it makes its long last debut in NAM 36!

Stephen, this is amazing stuff here.  You really have a unique style with your rural building, and the way you've handled the undulating terrain is quite remarkable.  It's also great to see all these new NAM 36 features on display here as well--I have a feeling I'm going to be using a lot more SAM here soon.

I meant to comment on your last update because it caused me to go searching for smooth curves for my SAM dirt roads - but then I found them (under rural roads in my roads menu funnily enough!) and have since been too busy smoothing out all my previously too boxy curves.

Great work on your city. I too like the gentle undulations. Initially I thought you were teasing us with FAR for SAM but I think it is just the hills in some spots playing tricks on my eyes.

Bear in mind that what is shown is not the old outdated puzzle pieces, but the newer draggable functionality which won't be available until NAM36 is released. This will allow proper wealth textures and expand support to more pieces, including all the previously unsupported SAM networks. So maybe hold off on converting everything, since the draggable ones will be much better when you get them.
