Hello all, it's my first post here :)
I would like to present something i'm currently working on: (sorry for the bright colors :-[)
Bethesda Fountain from Central Park in New York City:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-03.jpg&hash=b9055410f68a6fda0bf2948f965c311e64c7a806)
and New York Supreme Court:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-19-2.jpg&hash=49c70120331b90490b18b27383dbff987b054f1b)
Very good start. Keep up the great work.
Do you play Team Fortress 2 Seraf? I was playing today and saw someone in the server I was on with your name. Also this bat looks like it might be interesting
The more new york architecture in the game the happier i become, and anything neo-roman is always welcome. Your court hourse looks very much like an old train station we have here in our town. My only suggestion would to dirty up the textures a bit, but regardless it's fantastic.
Bud
moin Seraf,
that looks awesome, ...
good to see more guys doing "new york furniture" ! :P
if there are more guys around who wanna do stuff from the big apple then maybe we should group ...
keep us updated ...
b_schlurf
RebaLynnTS - Thanks :)
SimNation - No, I don't play TF2 so it must've been some coincidence :)
buddybud - Personally I like the "clean" look of buildings, but some dirt may be good for the sake of realism ;)
beutelschlurf - I love NY and its architecture, so maybe it's a good idea with a group.
At now the Bethesda Fountain is almost finished :)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-08.jpg&hash=e64e9fd63c2fbdf8b7a3ee76bdf235462cd46b15)
I finished my work with bethesda fountain:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-11-3.jpg&hash=23e4db57dee84ed50f8f60ec17b1491e56057180)
and start making another model :)
Lovely work.
&apls &apls Very well done. Can`t wait for see the next
RebaLynnTS , kimcar - thanks :)
I've started making a terrace :)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-02-1.jpg&hash=1fb636c8bc7019b26573f27365a3e5c5669593af)
:o Oh wow. That give another great looking at your fountain. Very well done. &apls &apls
looking good!
and I believe game really needs more of such a large public spaces.
Do you plan to make the plaza as a model or as a texture? What do you plan in terms of shadow?
Thank you kimcar :)
SimFox - well.... you are in minority ;D So far I've only heard that it's too big. :D Plaza is fully 3d (If you meant these white lines on brick surface) For shadows; if you mean another method of rendering I think I'll stick to default method :)
well I think people pack buildings in cities like there is no tomorrow...
Looks neither unrealistic no good...
About shadows I meant the way game casts shadows on the objects. As you know the shadow is never cast onto buildings, but if falls on say plazas...
The key here is for game to know that object is indeed flat and very low. This is, in turn determined by the hight of the LODs. The key number here is 0,3 meters. if LODs are under this number your object will receive shadow for other game building as it would be flat land. If it is exactly 0,3 meters tall tit will display combing effect. It it greater no shadow will be cast onto it. More details about this issue could be found here:
http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=7646.0
I asked about this because such a large and ground level object as your plaza may look a bit odd without shadow on it. So you can make the whole thing made of two parts. One - plaza itself, with very low LODs, but not too low - don't go under 0,2 meters in hight or you will have graphical glitches. And another with taller things, like fountain itself . You an then assemble whole thing in LOT editor. This way your plaza will receive shadows from both fountain itself and other buildings, trees etc
beautifull work &apls &apls
I've lost my jaw &apls
Would like to see the fountain in-game.
At the moment the center piece looks to small compared to the square and the fountain,
but then again,...
...an in-game picture would help.
SimFox - The fountain will be made as a whole with the plaza, otherwise I'd have to make it as a prop and for some reasons I don't want to make the fountain a separate object.
jacqulina, Neofita - Thanks :)
vester - Dimensions are taken from the real object, so any complaints should be directed to the architect ;)
you can make a plaza as a prop...
I finished the plaza around the fountain :)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-09.jpg&hash=fe769a037f4a2bf394944eb9987f110dff59f6d1)
moin seraf,
looks great
... you can make it as a prop and do a nice lot with it to have it on the LEX!
... and after that, you can finish the New York Supreme Court, ... :P
well done!
b_schlurf
p.s. welcome to your "first" second page!
Very nice Seraf
I hope to see it very soon in the lex :)
Me too! It looks very cool.
&apls &apls Great work. Can`t wait too
beutelschlurf - Thanks :) NYSC is suspended for a while ;) I'm working on the central park pack :)
Girafe, Driftmaster07, kimcar - Thanks so much :) But I don't have an authorization to upload on lex ^^"
And little update ;)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-11-4.jpg&hash=a3d232ed444c5f3a6a3c954404d431a92234392f)

moin Seraf,
looking really good, keep it up!
... to upload to the stex you have to go through the scrutineering-process. have a look into this sub-forum (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?board=5.0).
b_schlurf
:( Maybe you don`t have but you can upload at another site ;D Do you have a pic for see what is gonna look like when is gonna be finnish?
Woah, the detail is amazing :o! Too bad most of it is lost in SC4. Are you using 3dsmax?
Excellent work! love the details, specially the way you modelled each stone piece of the arches and trims, they will never be seen in game but it is nice to know they are there.
beutelschlurf - Thank you :)
kimcar - I'm going to try getting upload rights ;)
just_a_guy - Thank you and yes, I'm using 3dsmax.
DebussyMan - Thank you! ^^
And update:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-14a.jpg&hash=db26eba0318b363f47dc3f52e50c3ff23a095c4e)
Looks great! Do you have a real life overview shot to show what it will look like?
CabraBuitre - Yes, here you are;
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm3.static.flickr.com%2F2172%2F2418952669_5d3a7c816f.jpg&hash=9c96a64f712aeb73d12d8b24c56d3bbb8c269076)

Excellent attention to detail! &apls
Just one question, what antialiasing filter are you using? because your pics look a little blurry.
I'm really impressed by the work you have done. This stair is .. wow &apls
Seraf I've been watching you since you first posted and now I come out to say OMG WOW!!! That stairway and fountain is turning out great!!!
DebussyMan - Thank you :) I think the picture is blurry because it was big and photobucket blurred it during reduction :) (Sorry for my english ^^")
Orange_o_ , Pat - Thanks :)
Have you thought about how you would orient this lot in terms of changing height between tiles?
What I mean is... the base will be on the first plane... and the second could reach to a second, higher plane (that would seem to be the logical way to do it).
But... if you oriented the lot in such a way that part of it was overhanging, then it would be oriented in such a way that the "top" of the stairs would match up with the higher plane.
I dunno if that makes any sense... but it would be neat if it worked in this way!
This is just wonderful, congrats! &apls
But it reminds me a bit Metz, with La Place de la République :)
Guillaume
This fountain is really splendid, bravo. &apls
You really have worries of the detail.
&apls &apls Amazing . Hope you continu this baby
Like I said on the NYBT thread, AMAZING. &apls &apls
CabraBuitre - I don't know if I understood correctly, but I haven't thought about arraging the BAT in game.
Sciurus - Thank you :) I think both places are very beautiful :) By the way, architects who designed Bethesda Terrace took inspiration from Château de Versailles :D
Earth quake - Yes, I love the detail ;)
kimcar, serebii666 - Thank you :)
And a small announcement from me:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-max-11.jpg&hash=5e61a372128459193a3fde40eb4a2c83746867a7)
I could never show my creations as close &apls &apls &apls
Orange_o_ - Why? :) Thank you for comment :)
And a moment ago I finished the front of the arcades :) (sorry for big size)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-max-12.jpg&hash=97ac54e51c1847387817e25592620d8c58e1e647)
This is wonderfullllllll &apls &apls &apls :o
Guillaume
Amazing work &apls &apls &apls
lot of details which made all the difference
Sciurus, Girafe - Thank you :)
update; Render in mental ray with new water material;
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-18-3.jpg&hash=83aa9939599deac616f7112b772bbaf3d857bc1e)
It's coming along nicely. It's amazing how much detail you're putting into this! Great Job  &apls
Ah, mental ray, I don't understand why people insist in rendering their BATs with it ()sad() I find them sticking out way too much in game, and the result feels unnatural. Please consider at least making a scanline version as well. Otherwise your progress looks great
serebii666 - Thank you :)
DebussyMan - What can I say..... I am also not very fond of mental ray, and also think the result looks a bit unnatural, but a lot of details is lost in scanline ... :( Anyway - thank you for comment :)
Update:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-max-15.jpg&hash=8588a86ac73eaf525e7b3fbafe9aaceee450a465)
I am always very impressed by the details that you
&apls &apls always nice to see an update
Orange, kimcar - thank you :)
I'm experiencing some problems with Max at the moment, but I managed to render a part of the model :)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-26.jpg&hash=13db34934004721009ca9e26dbd1e89107761c82)
I solved my problem with max and I can show a little progress on model :)

Ouf! ;D Great update . Still a lot to do but still very great looking
Thank you kimcar :)
... I was forced to hold work on Bethesda Terrace, so ... I started working on this small orangery :)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-06-2.jpg&hash=4b518e4234363a6198910bc16d9278026e3e3cd5)
Water lily House is almost finished :)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-20-2.jpg&hash=0786022dfe82645c0535e137f60336f32d402898)
I like the "orangery", another new word for me, I looked it up on wiki. Are they/could you have, growing plants in such an arrangement?
Very beautiful work, but you're going to need more support for that very wide, flat roof span. Interior columns, and some pretty big trusses too.
This "orangery" is beautiful. &apls
It's just :o.
That's looking great...really good work, but as gottago said, you need more support for the roof
thingfishs - I used the wrong word. This type of buildings is rather called "glasshouse" or "greenhouse". :) And sorry, but I don't understand your question ^^"
gottago - It wasn't finished yet when you made your comment. Now that I finished it, I hope that the structural details are visible. By the way, it used to be the widest single span glasshouse in the world ;)
Earth quake - Thank you :)
delija21 - Thank you :)
Final look:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-21-2.jpg&hash=ce5fd28a7fe9d0944222cdc8120a41f771b5dec2)
that looks beautiful seraf, when can I get it? ;)
As for my question I'm sure it's a stupid one (I've been asking a few of them today, but I figure it's how you learn quickly) but I was wondering if it were possible to have a see through building like this in which you could actually see flora props growing? (that would just be the icing on the cake)
It'll be on STEX tomorrow. I don't have access to LEX yet ^^" It's the idea of a glasshouse to be see-through, I think ;) There are tropical plants growing inside, so a lot of sun and heat is required :)
(I hope I understand correctly)
Impressive as you are building your project! Wonderful work with great details that make the entirety to be phenomenal!!
Amazing feat then that that greenhouse stands in RL with such fine structure--impressive, I'll check it out. I'd only say the lily pads look pretty big--but then there might be ones that size, I'm no botanist. Anyway, beautiful work &apls
&apls &aplsExcellent work mate.
Thanks guys :)
Update from Supreme Court:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-24-3.jpg&hash=b3ae62c83be4e09d2e4b1cf0d01de5d77db432f7)
The details of Supreme Court are amazing!
Thank you! :)
Update from SC:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-28-1.jpg&hash=b51f3c2ab0bbc22d82088e6e365437b723aa45aa)
wow, that's a very cool & unusual "roof", nice work.
Still loving that greenhouse, very keen to see more like that as well.
Wow, I didn't know thats how the Supreme Court looked like. Very elaborate set of rooms and such on the inside, and therefore very fun to look at :P - It looks great! keep it up!
&apls &aplsExcellent choice. I like the shape very much
&apls &apls
Fantastic bat.
I want can see more.
Wonderful, impressive, no more words! :o
Guillaume &apls
Fantastic! &apls
it's so amazing &apls
Thank you all. :)
thingfishs - yes I know that roof is very unusual :D
baconrocky - I think this building has very interesting and unusual shape, a nice change from rectangular NYC buildings. :)
And I can say that my work on the courthouse is almost finished :)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-34-1.jpg&hash=bfca14198cd11835c30d6ff89fc8dc734465056c)
really impressive , love the design. I think the lower, marble-like texture on the peaked roof at the front looks real nice.
Shame we won't be able to see it in game looking this good, one day...
My next project is finished:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-18-4.jpg&hash=7a26cbec74032cb9a1009a1ff1afaecfa3de2429)
It looks nice Seraf, if a little empty.
It's some kind of eating area? I think it needs more, be it tables, or plants, something.
I like the ivy or whatever they are on the outside wall. Good work
Great work &apls, but i agree with thingfishs , miss somethings inside. Is it from a real building this creation?
thingfishs - Thank you :) It's some kind of school centre; I saw tables and chairs in some of my pictures, so I decided to make them instead of scietific exhibition :) I'm glad you like the ivy, I spent a lot of time to create it :D
kimcar - Yes :) This is Nash conservatory from Kew Gardens :)
I finished one of fife props for my Kew Gardens Prop Pack :)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-05-2.jpg&hash=4c298c55540df3b42fef3cb3af5197ace99d0c49)
I keep thinking about winter version of this prop and all the rest. But I don't know if anyone needs this...
&apls &apls Great props. And that will be very nice the winter version
The rotonda is very good, and the greenhouse too, but you need to add some opacity to the glass roof--it looks like nothing is there right now.
It's a great project to do Kew--beautiful and very important in the history of landscape architecture.

I agree... the glass is too transparent. Your works are excellent though!
I don't know much about the Kew Gardens but they look beautiful. The Chicago Botanic garden is only a few miles from my house and I've tried to use it as inspiration... but there is a lack of quality garden BATS that you're filling quite nicely! The Chicago Botanic Garden doesn't have the architecture or structures that other gardens like the Kew have... but they've got wonderful plantlife!
As I said, I live near Chicago and I've always wanted to recreate the 1893 World Columbian Exposition that was held in Chicago. I think I'd be able to use some of your garden buildings to recreate it.
Check out some (obviously very old) pictures: http://images.google.com/images?q=Columbian+Exposition&rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7SUNA&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi
Thank you all :)
CabraBuitre - I've heard about Chicago Botanical Garden. Indeed they don't have any typical victorian glasshouses but it's not a flaw for me :)
Regarding CE - I keep thinking about making Agricultural Building but my timetable is full and I don't know when this could change :-[
I've finished the second prop for KGPP. I hope the glass is better than last version :)

Looking good man. Cannot wait to see what new green goods you have coming out next. Greenhouses are a much needed thing for sc4 and I for one am glade your doing many.
Completely agreed, the more greenhouses the better and seraf is making some really nice ones.
Great rotunda as well. I was going to say it reminded me of one we have here in Adelaide but when I checked a photo I realised they look nothing the same. :)
It was shipped out here from Scotland a long time ago. I hope to get around to this beauty one day, but if you're ever feeling bored...

&apls &aplsBravo very nice
SimNation - Thank you, I would make a few more glasshouses, like a Palm House from Kew or Schönbrunn :)
thingfish - I think I should find some time for this beautiful gazebo :)
kimcar - Thank you :)
I'm working on a few projects at the moment, one of which is Michigan Central Station :)

The beginning of the station looks truly excellent, and the small fountain in Central Park as well. Please export it in HD to preserve as much of the detail as possible. &apls
The fountain is AWESOME &apls &apls and the other things, too
how do you do the water of the foutain ??
;)
great work seraf
I'm a big fan of gardens and value all your great garden themed creations, like that fountain.
I'm glad you like the gazebo and if you do ever find the time that would be amazing.
&apls &apls Awesome. Excellent project that you have. Have fun
Thanks all, :)

your work here is crazy good, i cant wait to seee MCS finished.
:o I just can`t wait too to see your project finish. That will be a masterpiece for sure &apls &apls
Absolutely incredible.
&apls
Robin
Brilliant work Seraf &apls
I love those bridges, (esp. the first one) awesome for a nice park.
And that terrace you keep working on is nuts. (I assume the texturing etc still has work to be done?)
Thanks for all comments :)
MCS is finished. Model has 2.8M poly and I can't do anthing more :)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-38-2.jpg&hash=83549669733988622d509872aac2ea57a94faf7d)
wow, very impressive seraf &apls
I particularly like the roof of the lower section and the grills on the arched entrances revealing the shadows behind
So I take it that's the maximum polygon count one could achieve on a single model?
Some very beautiful looking projects, hope we will see them all released to the community.
That is superb! &apls &apls I hope you'll release it soon! $%Grinno$%
my only criticism is that the textures are very plain (the roof) and quite repetative (the main brick texture) if you were to tweak those a little bit, and maybe add abit more roofjunk you would have a magnificent creation.
Thank you thingfishs :) Not at all - It's just the polygon count when my computer goes on strike :D
kwakelaar - But of course, I always release my BATs once they are finished :)
io_bg - I think it will be on stex in a couple of hours :)
mightygoose - In fact MCS is exported, I must only finish installer, readme, etc. But thank you for that notices, and I hope MCS will be good BAT even without corrections :)
&apls
Cool MCS, now abandoned version. ;)
I have to agree with mightygoose that the textures and the roofs look pristine and schematic--right now, the building looks like a highly detailed model, not a building.
There is no age, no variation, and no roofjunk at all. The floor of the main hall is too dark, and you can barely see the grill-work, and I assume there is glass behind those grills but it doesn't look like like you have included any there; in fact it doesn't look like any windows have glass--they are pure black.
It's a shame you won't revisit it, because it is beautifully modeled and there is no rush to upload it until it is as good as it can be, and also because changing textures and adding some roofjunk is not going to increase your poly count in any significant way. It would take another day's work to make it much better, and it is worth it, considering all the time you have invested so far and the quality of the modeling. There's no rush, do it right.
Edit to add: Also, looking at it some more, the cornices of the main hall have a strange gradient on them, going from light to dark, from left to right. That alone should be fixed. It also occurs on the steps.
MikulkaSP - Thanks, but I'm not planning to make devastated version of MCS. I find no pleasure in looking at its horrible current condition :)
gottago - Well... maybe you are right, I can delay the upload... but in this case, MCS will stay incomplete for a long time. I have other projects that need taking care of :) My intention was to make a building that looks like new. And I think I accomplished that. Regarding textures - many people like them, many don't. I can't make everyone happy ^^" I know that experiments with textures and roofjunk are easy with small models, but my MCS is quite large, and it makes things more complicated :)
Edit: Yes, I know about this gradient, but I don't know the cause. Something like that appears with any texture mapping as well as without mapping. I checked the geometry and everything looks OK. If you have any idea what it could be, I'd be glad to hear from you :)
When you are working with a large building, texturing it will take as long as modeling. You can't just tile a large roof area or a facade; the textures must be made 1-to-1 and worked in photoshop to avoid tiling. Even if you are looking for a "brand new" look, all the materials will show variations and differences that will give the building life.
The green roof, for example, has simply no change in color or tone. The texture represents standing-seam copper that when originally built looked like copper--bright reddish-brown metal--but has weathered to verdigris from exposure to air and rain. The weathering of copper will never be so perfect, and the copper will never be so dark--and that is a problem with your specularity/glossiness settings. This is another problem with the model--though there are a variety of materials--brick, stone, asphalt roofing, zinc, copper, glass (at least I hope there is glass)--all of them have the same matte quality to them--none of them are differentiated by their reaction to light. This is where you have to use the specularity and glossiness settings to achieve differences in reflectivity and gloss/matte. It will do much to make the model come to life and look more realistic.
Also, the roof coping--there are no joints, the textures do not look like metal, which is what would be used. Rather, they look like a solid color and that no texture has been applied to them. The attic story as well---the columns, though beautifully modeled, do not look as if they have a texture applied, but rather that the light ochre color has been done by using the Max color wheel function. This makes things look plastic-y and unrealistic.
I know this criticism sounds harsh, but it is not meant to be; this is a wonderful model and deserves that equal attention be paid to texturing it. Invest the time and it will pay off handsomely.
Edit re: the gradients: Did you boolean-merge the cornices into one element from a number of smaller elements? This will often cause strange texture warping like what is going on there. The texture maps just can't handle complex geometry, and using boolean will often create objects that have a faulty internal geometry and so will not render correctly. If so, the only way to fix it is to rebuild the piece and don't merge all elements--leave it as separate pieces and texture each separately.
"New" doesn't necessarily mean "freshly built". What I meant is that the building is undamaged and not devastated. By the way it's easy to create patina on the roof in a short time ;) I appreciate your opinion about not "tiling" large areas, but I think that if texture is good, it's perfectly acceptable to do this. On the other hand, I have showed my progress with textures some time ago - and there was no criticism. At this stage, it's impossible for me to modify all instances of textures in model (brick texture alone has at least 15 variations)...
About the look of attic floor - at this zoom, it would be difficult to distinguish the nuances of texture on the columns, I hope that is understandable.
I am grateful for any constructive criticism and presenting your point of view, even if I (partially) disagree with it :)
Edit: all cornice elements are separate - I didn't use boolean there.
Oh, and are you going to make the train sheds at the back of the station?
Not wanting to change something because you like it that way is one thing, and that's fine with me--it's your work, after all--but it would only be "impossible" to change the tiling of the brick textures, or "too late" to comment upon the whole, if you had a hard-drive crash or otherwise lost the model file, or if this was already uploaded. Having already exported it is hardly a reason--you have to export any number of times to plop the model in-game to see what it looks like and tweak it. The only deadline you are meeting is one of your own making.
Regarding the attic floor, in real life, the material there is same whitish stone as used on all the other architectural details, and indeed it is possible to distinguish the overall effect of the texturing, if not the nuance.
[Re: the gradients--did you change several things about the UVW maps on the cornices? If you change UVW parameters several times, the render of the texture can become messed up and you need to delete the UVW maps entirely and apply them again fresh.]
I assume you are posting here to improve your work as well as to display it, and to have it praised as well as critiqued by others who will see things in it that you did not, because they are looking through different eyes (and might not see your posts immediately). The praise is always welcome; the criticism, sometimes not. In any case, the model is first-rate and impressive, and it will be a very handsome addition to the game
Textures may be changed all right, but at this point it would be particularly annoying.
Regarding UVW maps - I checked it several times. I made a new cornice but effect was still the same. I don't know why it happens and I agree that this shadow is unrealistic and not nice...
Anyway, the BAT is already exported and uploaded. I don't reject your criticism, I just can't seem to be able to make it any better at this moment. I'll get back to this model after some hardware upgrade when work won't be so awkward. I uploaded it now because I know that a few people are waiting for it.
In fact - Thank you for your criticism because it's important for me after all :)
I made another prop for Kew Garden:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-09-3.jpg&hash=0c8805417c744e3db079a4ac5af7d0f599ad261f)(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-10-4.jpg&hash=c9b2dbb3c83e20fd7c89bd572da868c1096190d3)
very nice
I'm a big fan of your Kew garden stuff.
FWIW I'd love to see the MCS finished off one day, I just find it a bit flat & lifeless - and I know you can do it. It's sad to see such great BATs as this not be everything they could be... :)
Hi Seraf
I like the gold ring at the base of the dome. You've found a very nice texture.
- Jim
thingfishs - Thank you :) As I said I'll get back to MCS when I upgrade my computer.
jmyers2043 - Thanks :)

I'll make remaining small buildings later, for Kew Garden Prop Pack 2 ;)
&apls &aplsMarvelous work
Wowo ! All of tour are superb ! You make very good things &apls , and your two props are beautiful
Seraf, just want to say how much I like your work. I'm very late to the thread but have been using your Kew Gardens and NY Supreme Court for some time now and really like them both. I look forward to the completion of the Bethesda Fountain!
Ok, update after long time. In fact I'm working on exposition in my city and I have no time for other projects lately. I uploaded some announcement of the exposition buildings ;)

Wow, this is stunning! &apls &apls
some gorgeous work there seraf &apls
I am very excited by the rotunda base I see there. ;D If I'm not mistaken that's the one from Adelaide, great to see it's in the works.
So have you been able to find suitable images? I pass this rotunda all the time so if you want I can get any photos you need.
Awesome! Would it be possible to do the fountain apart from the plaza too? It'd be really good as a stand alone.
Can't wait to see more!
Seraf your work is amazing &apls &apls &apls
you pay so attention to little details
A wonderfully detailed BAT. &apls This looks inspired by buildings from the White City at the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago.
BTW, is there any progress on Bethesda Fountain?
io_bg - Thanks.
thingfishs - Yes, I found some shots and I think they're sufficient to make the model :) Thank you for your offer ^^
CabraBuitre - Of course, if there is demand for stand-alone fountain, I will upload it :)
Girafe - Thank you :)
Ehanson - Correct :D Some buildings on my exposition are the buildings from Columbian Exposition :) Bethesda Terrace is close to finish but I have much work with exposition buildings in last time.
And some new shots:

wow this is really good work seraf &apls &apls &apls
WOW!!! you are a hero. you work is breath taking. I have to say you have a great, great, great, great, gift. Work like this need to be put in a museum. &apls
It's really an amazing work &apls &apls
what a pity that you have decided to not export in HD with the quality of details you bring in your BATs. Anyway I hope you will share these jewels with the community ::)
Wow is right...! Keep it up!
Your Bats always blow me away.
Thanks all for comments :)
Girafe - to tell the truth... it's not my decision to not export that building in HD :( It's VERY big and when I tested the LODs, gmax showed me export error. After some experiments it seems that the only way to export that building is to divide it into three parts and export in SD :(
Update:
Main building of the exposition is close to finish :)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-05-7.jpg&hash=686160a6aa2a357f85ec62b99ebd16d6b76236ae)

Glass still needs some work :D
Impressive building... But it looks a bit like gamma had been applied twice...
also you would be better off it you'll put MR Physical Sky as a background map, particularly if you gonna have glass (or warret) or anything else reflective and facing up in your scene...
SimFox - Gamma is ok, ttextures are very bright, even white. It's because these buildings are from Columbian Exposition also known as White City.
In my native sc4 site (simcitypolska) there is something like SCJU. My country is the host of exposition in this year, and some people may guess that I try to recreate Columbian Exposition in SC4.
This task at this moment is impossible for me. Buildings are too big, as well as main basin. Splitting them into smaller parts and rendering in SD is useless, as I lose most of details and merging process itself is inconvenient in LE.
I don't know if this makes any sense, but maybe someone will be interested: a segment of main basin:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-03-9.jpg&hash=01d299ca9863d16e856821badafa965297e991aa)
and unfinished peristile:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-02-12.jpg&hash=8b8f51dcfa544fec4d5109ef42dc990562b08446)
Please remember max size of pics, 1024x768. I have resized your pic for you this time. Robin - Global Moserator.
After some hardships I'm back to work ;) I decided to divide the main axis of basin into two parts. Also, I put MR Physical Sky as a background map as SimFox advised, but I don't see any difference.. :(
(Of course this smaller roof on the right will be also glazed later.

I have resized your picture as it was breaking the page for me (it was about double my monitor's resolution). You can still view the pic in full size by clicking on it. (CasperVg - 06/22/10 CET)
Wow....that is spectacular! All the detail has me stunned!! &apls
Looks good! I had always pictured it with SG's canal sets... but that's what I usually use, so it made the most sense to me! That's really ambitious to create one all your own!
Some graet work  &apls &apls
Absolutely stunning work!!

Robin
Cannot wait to see the completion of this behemoth :)
Impressive. But the textures are way too bright and it all seems very artificial. You should use warmer and more worn-out textures like in the RL ones:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dadsgonebad.net%2FINTA%2FImages%2FUse%2Fscience_industry.jpg&hash=eda1b33c67ea49db203e57b7f9fdf6e3e93fe683)
DCMetro2834 - Thank you :)
CabraBuitre - Well, I'm more BATer than player and making my own buildings and custom stuff is no big deal :) Thank you for comment.
manchou - Thank you :)
rooker1 - Thank you :)
SimNation - Yeah ... me too :D
DebussyMan - Thank you Debussy for your input :) Building on the photo was the only one made from brick on the whole expo if I remember correctly. According to old photos and descriptions all other buildings were made from stucco on metal framework and painted white. I agree with you about the roof texture. But I must have the building ready in a week and have no time for tweaking now :( I think I will fix it before making it public (if anyone wants such a huge building). This looks spectacular!
Highrise99 - Thanks :)
For now I'm done with Exposition buildings; Maybe I'll finish main basin and peristile once in a while - I need some rest.
This time a small update from another fountain I make: Pulitzer Fountain from New York City:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-02-13.jpg&hash=2906cfbae0e36cfd8855e81a932cb080d4f37e0b)
Here are the two versions of water material but I think I'll use the greener one...
I love the Cherry Hill Fountain just released (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=24300) on the STEX... Simple and beautiful. Great job!

Wow, Seraf I must say, your bats are not safe to admire, cause they're so breathtaking i almost suffocate! ;D
It's simply stunning work. All those ornaments and sculptures must took you a lot of time to model them. I can't wait to see those bats in mys city. Again, stunning and fabulous bats :)

Leo
good models Seraf, and good job &apls
however what a pitty that they are not in action
ortiz75 - Haha thank you ;D and yes, ornaments always require more work than the rest :)
Girafe - Thank you :) I made "action" version of my exposition fountain but I was not satisfied with result and abandoned it:

I'm sorry to hear you abandoned your 'action' version of the fountain. It's excellent and the most realistic version of non-animated water I've seen.
You are quite good with this foutain in action :)
One of the best foutain made for sc4 according to me, it's from Vnaoned, TSC :

I love the classical architecture. What exactly is the oval thing in the center?
It's roof of the rotunda :)

absolutely stunning! :o
It's Gorgeous! I cant wait to use it!
How's the Chicago World's Fair coming along?
Buzzit - thanks :)
serebii666 - I'm afraid not very well. Buildings are so big than I cannot export them in one piece and I didn't any nightlights because I was in hurry ... that and a few other bugs prevent me from uploading the buildings... :(

One thing that jump into my eyes is the roof.
Would split up the roof into smaller pieces, so the textures can be aligned with the edges of the roof.
and the roof needs some sort of slope, not a lot but just a little, like on this drawing:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi40.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe242%2Fvester_DK%2FMisc%2Fkbhtagetop.jpg&hash=636476713e8270abc2c2cd02151d5c84f4e9bb3d)
adding a few more lines to the roof:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi40.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe242%2Fvester_DK%2FMisc%2Frender-17-2b.jpg&hash=a816156495745180d874674187c26f96c0e76d27)
(and a few more around the small houses)
Thank you vester! :)
What do you think now?

I'm liking it! &apls
Wonderful work and can't say much on the roof because I have to look at the real life building again.
Thank you Evillions and Aaron. I think the custom house is complete, only few mistakes left to correct.

You have to place your roof textures so it's either perdicular to the gutter or parallel to the gutter:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg97.imageshack.us%2Fimg97%2F3562%2Frender333.jpg&hash=b39fdeff62c70ab646370ce3326550695c8ef78d)
Here is indicated a texture direction parallel to the gutter.
Not sure if this is a tar roof or ?
I guess it could also be a metal roof like zinc, but a bit expensive for something you normally can't see.
If it is metal, you could visit rheinzink.com (http://www.rheinzink.com), to see some references.
Just for fun could you post a rendering from the top of the building ?
vester sorry but I don't understand what you mean. It's a flat roof so it won't have anything in the middle, if that's what you mean. Look at this photo:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ryanbudhu/4706592820/
I changed the color because I don't like this ugly blue-purple. And I think the directions of shingles on flat roof won't change because of minor inclination for water :)
Could be a zinc roof. Its hard to tell.
The blue color is a bit strange. Maybe it is the light.
If you use shingles on a flat roof, you will be sure to get water through it. You will need use a metal roof or a tar roof on a flat roof.
Just let the lanes run all the way through.
Maybe you could use this texture of mine:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi40.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe242%2Fvester_DK%2Ftextures%2FHotTarRoof01c.jpg&hash=b148753f855f1741c62bc90a7aa4caa8332ac88d)
with this bumb map:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi40.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe242%2Fvester_DK%2Ftextures%2FHotTarRoof01_bumb.jpg&hash=c32c8a1da5405a59d076cfc00fda545ecb34327e)
(maybe adding a few grey lines between the white)
Use that texture on this bat. (http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e242/vester_DK/CCRF/CCRF_v144.jpg)
A zink roof:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi40.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe242%2Fvester_DK%2Ftextures%2FZinkVorFrue_V8rs.jpg&hash=34d95b90112ff363e929efdac0cd6038dceb2e98)
I believe blue color is a bad over-processing of the image - just look at the insanely blue roof of the building in the foreground.
The rood is most definitely not metallic - it is not really reflective - look at the metallic reflective AC unites and how they react to light.
I think I even know the sequence of steps that lead to such a color, but that doesn't matter, what, on the other hand does is that you can ask author of the photo for the original RAW file. I think if you explain the reason, show him your model and say that you will credit his help he would give it to you; I know I would! Even with not promise oof any credit, just because anyone putting so much effort into what is a public good deserves any and every help!
Once you have Raw file (given that it is from Canon 7D) you would get tons of info on the roof material from it!

Sorry but I don't follow you there. Some metal have are reflective, others on the other hand aren't.
What about the green roofs ? Not metals, as well ?
I would say zinc roofs is after some years not that reflective:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg705.imageshack.us%2Fimg705%2F2613%2Frtemagiccbilleder2007ma.jpg&hash=634e147bd35df9a3f18047bcae8774022a2a11f7)
Ventilation ducts and the units on the other hand is mostly made up of reflective metals.
Had a look first at google maps: the building was in the shadows
then I went to bing maps:

To me it looks more or less like a tar roof, put out in long lanes,
but then again I would write out an old zink roof !
I hope they wouldn't put tar on a building like that, but I believe it.
It is a red slate according to this site: http://www.oldnycustomhouse.gov/history/architecture.asp (http://www.oldnycustomhouse.gov/history/architecture.asp). Perhaps they are talking about the red around the windows though...
Looks like rolled on roofing to me! Definitely not metal or shingles.
Great building so far. The modelling is superb
On the other hand, the texturing is a real turn-off. It looks completely sterile, cold and plastic. &ops
About the roof: I also agree that it is more likely to be tar than a metal cover; however, if you don't mind taking an artistic licence, I think it would look good with zinc.

And some metals are liquid, so no roofs could be made out of them - would you say that NO roof could be metal because of this? Also "green roofs" are just that - green. If that is only characteristic you gonna mention than I would say yes perhaps they are not metal.
But to the point, I've said metallic, not metal. Metallic is more a definition of certain properties of metals, like luster, rather than simple indication of the composition (like in made out of metal). And all the pictures of the roof of this building very clearly indicate that it hasn't got metallic look. Particularly like those of zinc.
So if you wanna say that this is zinc that doesn't look like one, doesn't interact with light like zinc, but still zinc - go ahead. But what is the point?
Besides, to make something look realistically metallic one must be concern first and for the most with properties of material rather than bitmap texture.
And the picture of Zinc roofing you used is actually reflective, not glossy reflective, but reflective non the less. Would it not be all the ridges would have had same color, yet on the picture it is very clear that some are great deal brighter than others - very clear indication of high reflectivity of the material.
In the end, the roof on the model will never be zinc or anything else, it doesn't exists. All there is just an illusion. And it should be accurate one.
Ok guys ... I made two new versions of the roof. Debussy, according to your notes I try to soil the textures a bit. Hope it's better now.

I vote for the second pic... it just looks more urban and antique than the first picture. Great job!
My vote is also for the second one, but I do find it to be a bit consistently dark now in comparison to the first one. On first glance I liked the first one better, but on closer inspection, it has some odd recurring details that spoil it a bit. So I guess I'd be going for something in between. (option C) ::)
It is an amazing looking building
btw - has there been any further progress with the gazebo? (I too have lots of projects on the go at the same time and I'm not impatient, just curious ;))
It's people like you that make me depressed because I open GMAX and can't even BAT a textureless box :(
All of your stuff is excellent. &apls
Thanks all :)
thingfishs - OMG I totally forgot about the gazebo :o Here's some progress:

The Farley Post Office is breathtaking and huge. I am looking forward to seeing the textures.
Your work is truly great!

YAY! I could not find any suitable stand in for the post office, so now that you're doing it just made my week! BTW how many tiles is it probably going to be?

Jack Bauer - I think I should finish modeling soon and then start texturing, I hope it will be better than on Custom House, I really want to make my textures better :'(
MrMAvE94 - Thank you!
serebii666 - Thank you :) I think it should be something like 8-9x15-16 ^^
thingfishs - You are right, I'll fix the poles soon :) Nice music BTW :D
Ok, except news about Farley I have some other:
I resumed works on Columbian Exposition Recreation, first of all I try to fix all issues on Main Basin (it will be canal set) and here's a result: (now i must change the textures)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2FPreview.jpg&hash=5bf71bec977225af82c88d61ed560d55ded997d1)
I'm also working on Palazzo Chiericati from Vicenza:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-05-10.jpg&hash=28ed3c0c554f704344658fc06c0f8e9e5b54aafd)
There is one more project I started, I'm very excited about it :D I don't know how much time it'll take to finish it... probably something like Bethesda Terrace, but this project is from Paris. Who will try guessing what it is?
good job Seraf &apls &apls &apls
Opera Garnier ???
Ohh pretty! I love the palazzo Chiericati! I would guess (hope :D) the Opera Garnier, Galeries Laffayete, or Place Vendome :)
Good luck with what ever will be! &apls &apls
Excellent building &apls
Guillaume
Thank you guys.
I have some update from CER: (please tell me what you think about textures now)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-08-7.jpg&hash=f10d891e25c90de7ef890a76e07536057214173b)
And Kaiser Wilhelm NationalDenkmal:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2Frender-06.jpg&hash=1030109b15e60468539e67246d742dfca32523c4)
And yes, that project from Paris is Palais Garnier. I simply love that building, but I don't know if I should treat it as SC4 project. Palais Garnier and Pennsylvania Station are more like test of my modelling skills and that's why I started interiors too. I don't know when I'll be able to show some pics form Palais Garnier. The case with Opera is more difficult than with Penn Station because drawings of the Opera are very rare :( I found few plans from Garnier's work Le nouvel Opera and they're very useful but even with them the work is very hard.
you seem to have a knack for these type of projects...
Nice projects you have and I wish you good luck for the Opéra Garnier... maybe some photos of it could be usefull for you?
Guillaume
Looks great, Love the details. Keep it up. &apls
Jack_wilds - Is that wrong? ^^
Sciurus - I already gathered a considerable collection of photos of the Opéra Garnier, I can only hope they will be sufficient to make good model :)
Aaron Graham - Thank you!
Ok, here we have render of Agriculture Building from Columbian Exposition. It's only half of the building because I must divide model into two parts. The model is finished but I'm still experimenting with textures to make them better.
For that while I changed color of elevation (I forgot to also changed the texture od bigger columns and pilasters), I think the color of glass on the roof is good but I need to change texture of non-transparent parts of the roof ... any sugestions? ;D

art128 - Thank you! It's so nice for me to hear that but I think I need more experience if I want to be as good as Debussy ^^
Only small update: I finished gazebo from Adelaide.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-08-8.jpg&hash=5597df93394b4bccedd5797764bcff4ef101c261)
I looked through the several dozen pics I have of the exposition... but because airplanes weren't invented for another 22 years, there aren't any areal shots of the grounds.
That said, there are lots of pics/drawings from a high vantage point... and I was hoping to find one that might help.
Unfortunately, most of these have a vantage point looking east or west... or north, not south, which is where the Ag building was!
Even the picture maps that I have used artistic liberties... your representation is much more accurate, especially in terms of the roof!
This is the best I could come up with.... it's looking SW from the Manufacturer's building.
This rendering from the UCLA project is probably hardly helpful...
Might be the most roof here... but really hard to see.
I'll keep looking and see if I can get anything better.
This copy looks a little better.
And UCLA's "take" on this same vantage point:

Wow I really love your creations. They are really amazing!
Looks great.
WOW! That Agriculture Building is truly massive, can't wait to see it fully textured. For the roof, maybe copper for the metal parts? For the other parts, to me it looks like you just need to break up the tiling a bit. I've got a question for you, do you use Max for the modeling of all statues and such or do you use some other program? Sculptris (http://www.sculptris.com) is a quite nifty tool if you happen to think that such modelling might be a bit tedious in Max and it's free.
Keep up the good work!
Girafe - Thank you :) Yeah I remember about the flags, I forgot about them once and it cost me one bad (useless) export ;D
DCMetro2834 - Thank you ^^
CabraBuitre - Thank you for all those pics. I did quite big reserach on Agriculture roof when I was making it, probably it would be easier if I could go to CHS or AIC and take a look on the original plans. Thank you once again :)
kapete - Thank you ^^
antn - Thank you and yes, that building is big and probably it was the richest one on the exposition in terms of ornamentation and sculptures (It was the work of McKim, Mead and White after all ;))
Thank you about the roof material clues. Usually I use Poser for the main figure if it's human and after that I make "stuff" like clothes or atributes in max.
Sometimes if the shape is more complicated (coat of arms for example) I sculpt it in ZBrush :) That Sculptris looks like simpler version of ZBrush, I must take a closer look at it :)
This time something for those who are waiting for Farley Post Office, the modeling part is almost done, only few things left.
I'm considering the roof and I think the roof of the original building will be the same as in reality but
I really don't like the one of the annex building, so I made my own version: please let me know what you think.

It's famous &apls &apls, Very good work, I love your BATs &apls
Looks great, can't wait to download it. &apls
Magnificient work. &apls Really really good... as always :o
That's a very unique structure. I love it already.
-Ernst
You really do have some great modelling skills, impressive! And you have a thing for Beaux-Arts. About the annex, it looks great this way, and I believe it is true to its architectural style with the symmetry and all, but I believe that this building needs that kind of large interior space which is lost to the second courtyard on this version, it's a post office after all. Those large arch windows looks an awful lot like the ones from Penn station, may that have been the source of inspiration? They look great anyways, have you considered modeling the interior of that part of the building? I think it could look really good at night! One other thing I believe would be great for this building is if the text above the colonnade would be readable, you know "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." I'm not sure if it's possible but it would be cool.
I'm not sure you can get anything out from using sculptris if you're already is using zbrush, but I don't know.
Wow! :o This looks almost the same as the old Penn Station that was demolished in the 60s. (see pic below)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fupload.wikimedia.org%2Fwikipedia%2Fcommons%2Fb%2Fba%2FPenn_Station3.jpg&hash=2364ddac5df7951645f4d00eb3eee4f373e05bc8)
Here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania_Station_%28New_York_City%29#Original_structure_.281910.E2.80.931963.29) are a few more pics in case you're interested ;D
Hay, Seraf, love your work! :)
Your last creations are outstanding. I especially like the Adelaide gazebo :)
Also, recently I found this picture (http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/serafpj/Bat/maxrender01.png) on ST and I must say I'm dying to know how'd you make that ornamented head of the column. Wish I have such a skills. This is just awesome &apls
Best regards, Leo.
So, I was looking around on the forums, and this is the first time I've ever heard of you and I have to say, this is great stuff! Where can I download these models? They are so great. I love the one of the Supreme Curt and of Grand Central Station.
supremec - Thank you!
Aaron Graham - Thank you Aaron :)
DaveN - Thank you.
peter007 - Thank you.
antn - Thank you for that words, I try all the time to design my own buildings and it is very important ability to design something that will fit the existing structure.
Yes, Penn Station was my inspiration because it stood just across the avenue from Farley Post Office and I'm going to make Penn Station too. So I wanted to "my own" roof of Farley corresponding with Penn Station's.
But it's not important now because I decided to make actual version of roof after all. Regarding the text above the colonnade; I will make it but I don't know if it will be visible :)
io_bg - Thank you. Yes, as I wrote to antn, Penn Station was my inspiration ;)
ortiz75 - Thank you, I made the capital mostly by poly-modeling and some modifiers with lines. It really helps when you know how whole capital is constructed in reality :)
banditp61 - Thank you, all my BATs are available on the STEX.
Next update from FPO; as you can see I'm working on textures of the inner court:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-20-6.jpg&hash=e6cf14a3371f06d7593d54a9f6e5e0e20c235dde)
Unfortunately I must change the number of the smaller crossbeams... there are too many of them and on smaller zooms they become blurry &mmm
As said on Simtro, the BAT itself is really nice, but these pink textures ruin all the scene,
Edit: I changed of computer and seems that the pb of pink textures disappear ???
Fix the color of the walls to be a grey ish look, I think.
Those old pictures are beautiful. Shame this building is no more. I like how you model, you have a very nice style. Interested in seeing how the final product looks
Very, very, very superb &apls &apls Maybe the green roof too much... green $%Grinno$%
I can't wait for the release of this!

Only small update: I finished gazebo from Adelaide.
HD render:

Brilliant work Seraf &apls Sorry I missed the unveiling. What are your plans for it now release wise?
wow that is what I call a fine looking gazebo
(https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_QFpK53LUI-E/TaFgtjq7iGI/AAAAAAAABDc/_Ln6er1cn7Y/s800/shadowtest2_39.jpg)
Damn it?
What is this monstrous thing?
I congratulate you for the phenomenal and spectacular mega project with which you are embarked. Just ask whether the construction of the whole ensemble that appears in the picture or just a building, because it is truly amazing and I think that long ago, so not done anything spectacular. Otherwise I'm extremely pleased with the detail and the way you start to look these amazing B.A.T. - Projects. I definitely can not wait to download finished this jewel which you work now.
- Ivo
Girafe - I did some changes in textures colors, I hope they are better now.
Aaron Graham - Thank you :)
CaptainAmerica - Thank you :)
supremec - I think it should be better now :)
banditp61 - Thank you :)
thingfishs - I'm waiting for new version of bat4max for max2012 because I'm working with it lately, I don't want to export anything with max2011 because it produces so many graphic bugs :/
harishna - Thank you :)
ivo_su - Thank you! I already did two buildings from Columbian Exposition and most of the grand basin, I want to recreate the whole exposition but... well, it's monumental task so I don't know when I'll be able to finish it.
I want to take a break from Farley so I did some work on Penn Station: (Sorry for no updates from european projects, I promise next time I will show some progress on them)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2Frender-02.jpg&hash=9e53ac5f1c6661d93e8d77d17d2a0e3ee1d04a02)
seraf I can not believe how many large-scale project to be borrowed directly and left me without words. When all is ready I think will be the largest combination out there - after those of St. Peter and the Hungarian Parliament made by Yoder time ago. I'm worried just how many MB will come out whole composition. I think it can not be less than 30 but will be worth it. Go ahead you have my support.
-Ivo
Wow, this is looking promising :) What to say, all your models look fantastic and i'm sure this one will too. Keep it up :)
You started an AWESOME BAT!! &apls &apls
It looks like its coming along beautifully. Good luck on the Concourse roof, I recently built a scale replica of the station in minecraft and the concourse alone took more time than the carraige ways combined :-[. If you would like, I could e-mail you some pictures of the building (I did research and have over 100 pictures of the exterior and interior of the station) :)
looks promising, the textures are much better now (pink textures are removed) :)
Holy little Jesus, that start looks already fantastic!
ivo_su - I don't know if I understood you correctly, but yes - I think if I complete this recreation it will be one of the biggest projects ever made for SC4 :) And can you tell me what "MD" means? ^^"
delija21 - Thank you :)
supremec - Thank you :)
serebii666 - Yeah, I'm really scared about Concourse roof but I'm determined to make it along with Concourse interiors :)
Girafe - Thank you :)
art128 - Thank you ^^
After a long time I'm back to work at the terraces:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-39-3.jpg&hash=bd74f705b356e04abdd605d16ba896c6c49fe472) (http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/serafpj/Bat/render-39-3.jpg)
and a little update from Palazzo Chiericati, it's almost done, only textures left.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-09-7.jpg&hash=872391ec31a0dd09d5de49285caca6ff2a1eca20)(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-10-6.jpg&hash=d821fab2988b432235b28a38843d869d86916099)
This looks just wonderful, Seraf. The palazzo has a luxurious feel, even without the textures. I'm looking forward to seeing them.
Terraces look amazing. It remembers me a masterpiece of architecture in Russia, Peterhof palace ::)
Anyway really good job Seraf &apls
seraf I apologize for the delay in answering you but as I see I did not write "MD" but rather "MB" which means mega bytes. It's really too early to talk about it but I think that when the entire project is finished it will be over 30 mega bytes.
Otherwise, glad to see progress and I think that the things you make are beautiful. Slowly it began to acquire finished and outlines the real picture of the composition. The architectural style that you have chosen is really lovely and everything looks like in fairy tales. Do you have any idea how much current as the tiles will cover this? I guess will be several LOTs.
Good luck with your project and I can not wait to see new photos of the development.
Regards,
- Ivo
metarvo - Thank you :)
Girafe - Peterhof Palace is a masterpiece but I think the Bethesda Terraces could be even more unique for some reasons :) Anyway both are masterpieces of human genius.
ivo_su - Thank you very much :) Terraces will be 8-9x15-16 tiles, about Exposition... I really don't know but I think it will be a LOT.
After a long time only small update because I'm focusing now on Farley Post Office so I didn't make big progress on european projects:
Wilhelm Nationaldenkmal:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-07-11.jpg&hash=ac35c9c98eef5862be584df28c7374af4a01806e)
and small announcement of Opéra Garnier:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-02-16.jpg&hash=1fe85d21da31ab0cd225dbac43ea826d98a1b1a4)
Opéra Garnier seems to be an amazing project.
Did you find the blueprints you wished?
Did you know that under Opéra Garnier, there is one of the biggest swimming pool of Paris. I learned this on TV, it was for stabilizing the masterpiece
Opéra Garnier eh, one of the masterpiece in Paris.. Good luck with that... :P
Girafe - Yeah I found some drawings, I don't think that Bibliotheque nationale de France will be willing to borrow me the Garnier's atlas of plans of the opera by International Interlibrary loan, so I think that what I found must suffice... &mmm
I read that underground lake was causing a lot of problems throughout the construction of the building. The building itself has some much more interesting stories in its history :)
art128 - Thank you, I guess I will need much luck with that building ;P
Small update :)

sure is quite the project  admire the determination to take this on... is also a school project ??? watching for the updates as this progresses... :)
Looking great as always Seraf. :D
Thanks guys!
Works on Wilhelm Nationaldenkmal slowly going to end. Sadly I'm not making all sculptures which were on this monument because there would be too many of them and it will be impossible for me to work with model :(
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-15-5.jpg&hash=ce58ef32355982d8f1ffe562ff53fe66707c5473)
Lovely, I wish you can teach me on making those human sculptures, you are the best at making them. &apls
Amazing work with the statues &apls &apls &apls
Did you use Poser8?
Amazing work on the statues. &apls &apls &apls
WoW would love be able do that.
Fantastic work Seraf, Poser or ZBrush?
Looks incredible! :)
That is incredible!!
&apls
Robin
Wow! :O
Well this is really amazing... Great job !
Your work with the textures & shapes have something unique, it seems to be alive...
Very good job ! &apls
Aaron - It's nothing special, really :) You just need to learn to use Poser :) That gives you basic sculpture of human :)
Girafe - Thank you :) I used Poser Pro.
vester - Thank you
Delecto - Thank you, for human figures I used Poser, for more complex shapes (I mean non-uniform like cartouche) I used ZBrush, I'm still learning to sculpt humans in ZBrush but it's difficult, so for faster results I used Poser :)
Dragonanime - Thank you :)
rooker1 - Thank you :)
art128 - Thank you
Ol.S / Benoit - Thank you very much :)
Orange_o_ - Thank you ^^
Ok, I think it's done, I made lamps which were in original design but were never actually made. Please tell me I you want me to leave them or delete (of course if I leave them I'll add another two to the other side of memorial). I also have another question to community, I was asked if I can make just a central point of memorial without collonade as a prop. I think I sure can do that if there's larger demand for that, so...this is my question :)
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-16-5.jpg&hash=e0851aa809f6aacaea3dfa6cb23195ab71dd0bef)(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-17-4.jpg&hash=b578b4672be33a1ac41f744c9ff4cb652f868eb1)
I am trying on Poser8 pro but seems to be not so easy than I though :D
I have to try Zbrush too ::)
Regarding the BAT itself, it looks really good; Maybe the ground is too white. Do you have a real pic of the stuff?
Fantastic work &apls &apls &apls
Girafe - Zbrush is a powerful tool but it has a little paranoic interface ^^" About photos - I only have b&w photos and colored postcards so I the ground to be in harmony with the rest of the memorial :)
Silur ^^
I can't wait to use this amazing work ! You are doing a masterpiece here &apls &apls
Yes, I've purchased Poser2012 last week and apart from being a cheap Software, it's really funny.... ;D (Especially if you love sexy women) ::) :D ...ZBrush is a great tool, but the interface is terrible. &mmm
About the Bat, I really love the way it takes. My only concern is the material used for statues. It seems to produce very very dark shadows. $%#Ninj2
Delecto. ;)
concerning the bat colonnade... I like the lamps worth the aesthetic addition and as a separate work to suit many parks, its an option I'd like to use...
I'll have to get poser when I finally get my own copy of 3dsmax...
Congrats and well, what can I say? My jaw is seriously injured, cos' it hit the floor with such a huge impact when saw Your last work :D Really Seraf, this is outstanding and takes SC4 bats to a whole new level ;)
And just only one question - those ornamented curved tiles near the pedestal and under colonnade are texture or kinda individual 3d objects?
Leo.
Stunning work Seraf, really it is. About those tile, well I guess you have these images, but I've noticed that there can be seen a pattern of ground tiles and in a dark color too. So here are the links I've found and one color photography. I hope they help.

Wow!! It's really AWESOME :o I can't wait to see more of the "Opéra Garnier" :)
&apls &apls
kelis - Thank you!
Delecto - Yeeeah, I think it can delay your work on sculptures a bit if you can't focus ;)
And about shadows: I don't really know what I can do with that because I don't know why it produces soo dark shadows..but after all I think it's not so big defect.
Jack_wilds - Thank you, and yes. I these lamps (if made a little bigger) would be a beautiful addition not only to a formal park but also for main avenue of the city.
ortiz75 - Thank you. Ornamental tiles are textures. I spent all day painting them ;)
Vlasky - Thank you, I think the pattern of tiles in actual memorial was different than in original design (so it's also different in my model) so I didn't look that much at photographs
supremec - Thank you, I promise I will post update of Palais Garnier as soon as I can.
Here's some update on Farley Post Office form NYC and a nightview of Wilhelm Memorial:

I am fascinated by your skills regarding the statue modelling ::)
The lighting is nice, after I am curious about the way you will integrate it in the game :)
Given all the talent you have, I allow myself a note on the lighting of the first image. The shadow of the columns shows, you used only three points of light. But I imagine that this kind of building is equipped with more than three light bulbs. Perhaps it would be more realistic to increase the number of light source.
The rest of the image is spectacular.
This is brilliant work you Seraff. It's nice to see more such work, because it enjoys not only the eye, and heart. I expect more pictures from the project.
That night light! And the Farley post office is seriously big!
Hi Seraf.
I have already written about your work many times. I do not know whether it makes sense to write again. Your designs are simply off the scale. Although for me they are not very useful in the game, but it knocks me perfectionism and precision. Each sculpture seems almost alive. For the details that you put in the projects just pick up speech. Your job unless I can compare only to the work Debussyman'a, whose work is also characterized by huge detelaem. However, in this comparison, your work look even better. Even though not of this earth and not at the level of SC4. I would say that if there was a version of SC5, even if your work presented to them even higher than the game itself. Just congratulate talent, perseverance with carving all these details and wish you continued perseverance to create further work. I look forward to further your achievements.
Girafe - Thank you, What you mean about "integrate it in the game"? :)
Orange_o_ - Thank you. I looked at the old photos and found only three big lamps inside the colonnade. Theroretically there could be another two on each side in curved section of the collonade ^^
ivo_su - Thank you so much!
art128 - Thank you :) The Penn Station will also be that big :)
DaveN - Well, what can I say? It is so nice to hear (or read) something like that. I usually spend really long time working on every BAT even if the finished product is not ideal :)
And update from FPO; roof texture will be changed in some parts because I'm still making roof stuff:
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi177.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw221%2Fserafpj%2FBat%2Frender-30-4.jpg&hash=c2ef6dee1f86d467af2a61ac1fa46c28526cc8f6) (http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w221/serafpj/Bat/render-30-4.jpg)
That post office does look great! &apls
I'll agree the the statues and lighting are really impressive!
Seraf I want to tell you that works start to become from beautiful, to the amazing -unbelievable. It is very pleasing to the eye when it starts to become vision.
I want to ask you to show me a general picture of all objects you have already completed and those still to be made later. So I'll gain a little more clear idea as to what stage is reached the whole project. I hope soon to see your next update.
- Ivo
Looking great. :D
Thank you guys :)
ivo_su - I tried to render Main Basin yesterday but MAX tells me that I don't have enough memory to render it so CE must wait till next weekend when I will have time to render Main Basin in parts :(
Update from Pannsylvania Station:

Alex I think your Pennsylvania Station will be one of the most beautiful in the game and must be made to function. This will be used as an ordinary station in each city in each of us. Congratulations for the great work that you do and the best BAT models that you design. With pleasure I will watch next week when the channels are completed.
- Ivo
Wow, fantastic Model. I love it. &apls
Alex, how are you not ashamed to hide things from us? I was speechless when I saw your topic and simtropolis this amazing photo. Certainly the UN headquarters is one of the emblematic buildings of New York and a place in the game.

Every day you amaze me with your BAT's that I think are the most beautiful ever made.
- Ivo
Just to say, Ivo, the UN headquarter building wasn't made by Seraf, but Cockatoo, Simfox and Jasoncw , as well as the 345 Park Avenue was made by PBGV103. Also please could you consider resizing the very large picture? Simple use this code [ img width=1000 ] as the place of the first [ img ] .. Thanks.
Seraf, i agree with your personal phrase, you really are the master of Beaux-arts!
Thank you for the information Arthur, just discussing this project with our mutual friend Ioan. It's nice to know how to reduce excessive images as to Alex (seraf's) it is really amazing in their works and they are fine.
- Ivo
Thank you Ivo, it will be really nice to see Penn Station as ordinary station in sc4 cities :)
Rick - Thank you
Arthur - Thank you, it's really nice to hear that :)
Of course like Arthur said UN headquarters and 345 Park Ave are not my creations, I put it together with FPO to see how textures colors etc. fit to each other.
I almost completed modeling of FPO and here are the last renders of FPO before I start making the night views: (There are only few things left to add like sculpture above entrance and grilles on windows on the rear facade)

excellent progress...
Maybe my question will seem a bit silly, but I want to know which side will enter the railway tracks in this station. I guess platforms themselves will be located inside the building, which will be waiting, but I do not see where they could have railways.

Very impressive work ! &apls
I.. I... I just have no words to describe this, so i'll let a picture to speak..

The tracks came into old Penn underground (still do--when they demolished the old station, they basically just scraped the aboveground structure off and left the underground platforms). To model that in SC4, you'd have to use a rail-to-subway converter and make Penn Station a subway station.
I can think of ways to do it that wouldn't require subways, but they'd probably be a lot of extra work, and they'd limit players' flexibility in placing it.
Actually, I'd suggest a different way to handle the tracks into Penn Station. While it should double as a subway station (it does have a massive subway stop underneath), you could use a partially sunken lot to handle the train approach from the New Jersey side. As a plus, there is a brief section between the Hudson and the station where the tracks actually are open to the air, so it wouldn't be too much a stretch (I don't think), to have the lot extend 3 or so tiles beyond the building on the one side, showing tracks ramping up from an underground station level up to surface level, where they could be connected to a surface rail network. The LIRR tracks are entirely below ground, so they wouldn't show anyway, and unless there is a way to designate the station an underground rail station and connect it to that network, that might be a bit of realism that is unrealizable.
Edit: Another thought just occurred to me, and that would be to suggest that should you take the sunken lot approach and there are visible tracks, to use standard double rail at least at the point of connection to the rail network. I know some lots use single rail (and soon maybe even triple rail), but this lot is likely to be very popular, plus there are tons of switches available for those who want to switch double rail to single or triple once it leaves the station. Double rail makes it most compatible with the most people.

Double rail makes it most compatible with the most people.
That was the method I was thinking of (someone released an in-line station that does exactly that; I have it, and it's been useful), but it does place limits on how you can place the station, which I'd be loath to do given that the lot is already going to be enormous and destined to be placed downtown somewhere (I've had trouble fitting the Gare du Nord for that exact reason--huge station plus track approaches create too much of a barrier in my downtowns).
Of course, if it already has the subway stop, then you can just dig the hole, fill everything in so the ground is flush with the station, and use the subway station only. So maybe your way offers more flexibility than mine. The only problem would be the extension on the concourse side, and I think there are some eye candy rail tunnel entrances floating around, so that's not insurmountable.
I completely agree on using the double rail if you do have visible surface rail connection. I would have to imagine the majority of players are still routinely using double track.
While we're talking about train stations, what I'd really love is something like Reading Terminal or old Broad Street Station in Philadelphia, where the concourse, platforms, and tracks are actually
elevated, so I could run viaduct rail directly into a major terminal station without trying to squeeze in a 15m elevation change somewhere.
EDIT: Or Newark Penn Station, which is the same idea applied to a through station.
I am curious about the status of the White City project... it is a concept I considered for the design of my new capital and am keenly interested in it.
Thanks
I think that the Seraf dont have a time for post here, or what is more frightening, now abandoned this issue. But I hope that my feelings are wrong, and Seraf yet again surprised us with their works.
I hope so.
Great work,Seraf!!I have a project connected with Palazzo Chiericati and i need more information about the meazurements of the building.. please if you see this i would be very thankful if you contact me ( deska_@gbg.bg ) :))
Well, I guess it's time to sweep away the cobwebs ;)
While I post renders of most of my creations in my NYBT thread nowadays, I still have some projects that represent the buildings from the rest of the world. To get started in this new year I thought I will make something small that I will be able to finish rather fast.
I chose a memorial from my home city - Kaiser Wilhelm Denkmal. Sadly it's no longer standing.

Looks promising! Funny timing for your return as I was just wondering if you were up to anything these days after discovering you Kew Gardens conservatory yesterday :D Welcome back
That will be a great monument!!!
Can't wait to see this one finished, nice work so far! &apls
That is a beautiful monument. And I'm guessing that picture is from around the turn of the 20th century?
Looking forward to the finished product. :)

Yes, I like it too, it's a pity that it was destroyed :( And yes, I think it's a postcard made from photograph :)
I BATed the Leaning Tower of Pisa and it's avilable on STEX :) Enjoy :)

As the forums system kindly reminded me: "this topic has not been posted in for at least 90 days". It's high time to do something about it ;)
I've been working on this project for a few months now. It's not one of my "main" project so I don't expect to finish it anytime soon but I thought I'd share my progress on it.

I'm aware that Schriefer is also working on Hogwarts Castle but since the appearance of it changed over the movies I wanted to do my own version, including the elements that I like and discarding those I don't.
Those are HD renders, I'm still not sure if I should export such a monster of a BAT in HD...but if I don't most of the details will be lost. Oh well, I will think about it when it's finished :P
Not too big a fan of HP, however, that's quite a spectacular model - though the tower is too dominant imho. Nonetheless, I hope you'll continue working on it, sure could use another castle!
Stunning model &apls &apls
but I agree with Vortex about the tower.
Even so it is one heck of a BAT!
Amazing project :)
Really nice model!
Cool project! Love the details (my thoughts on the HD question will be predictable ::) ) and it's cool that you're taking a bit of artistic liberty creating based on your favorite timing and details. That big foundation of the tower could allow for some really cool placement too
Wow, looks, amazing. But, why Hogwarth, not for example Wawel? :P
Wow! What a monster!
I've never really watched Harry Potter, but this looks like it will be an amazing addition
What else to say, it's exquisite &apls &apls
It's a magnificent model so far. &apls Is the huge tower what make it Harry Potter-esque? (I haven't watched/read Harry Potter, and the tower seems unusually large.)
Big!
amazing work, you can make it modular and then export it HD. so ingame it will be a puzzle pieces building.
O.O
How didn't I see it before?!
But, wooooooooooooooooooooooow, Hogwarts is all yours my friend! Amazing model!! Keep it up!
So... just to let you know that I'm not dead :P

It's so beautiful! Nice to know you're still working on it :)
What a fantastic project ::)
Should be so hard to model, is there any plan available somewhere? . And if I am right, the design of the castle changed from movies to others.
Seraf! Great to see you back and so nice to see progress with this amazing BAT. Worried we lost you :bnn:
Holy f.....ractional angeled road, you`re still alive?

I'm sorry to say life was keeping me busy for those two years, I hope that now I will have more time to BAT since it's still something I really like to do :)
Just a small thing for now, finished I think, just need to add lights to night version and make winter one too. Any comments are appreciated
