I have been away from SC4 for a good bit of time, and am starting to get back into it.  I want to do some airport stuff as aviation is a hobby, however, I am very confused as to what items I would need to download and install, what's current and what's obsolete.

For example, I see in the file readme's items that refer to the RMIP Vol 1 Sets of the Sky, SAE's MIC Airport, Tabi Gates, AC Functional Airports v1 and v2, Luggage trolleys, SWAP etc....

Unfortunately what is not listed, and what is hard to find, is do I need all of these or are there ones that are obsolete?  It makes it very confusing not knowing what would be the basic files, and what other add-ons are ok and not ok.   I am not talking so much regarding aircraft as I am the actual facilites and structures.

The basic files you need to build a modular airport are RMIP 2 Vol 1 (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=15604), RMIP 2 Vol 2 (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=16074), RMIP 2 Vol 3 (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=17205), and RMIP 2 Vol 4 (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=18476) for the runways and taxiways, and ACB VLT Terminals and Jets Part 1 (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=18477) and ACB VLT Terminals and Jets Part 2 (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=18479) for gates and terminals. As for whats obsolete, the SWAP airports are now included in AC Funtional Airports v2 but other than that I don't think there are really any obsolete airport packs. As for other add-ons its mostly up to you to decide which ones you like.

Thank you Rusty!  Can AC Functional Airports v2, as an example, be used with the RMIP and ACB VLTs or is the ACFA v2 standalone to where it is separate, yet compatable with the RMIP and ACB?

Yes, they can both be used at the same time. The ACFA v2 is a pack of functional (as in they actually have capacity) airports, while the RMIP and ACB VLT jets and terminals are just eyecandy airport lots that dont actually have any capacity.

Thank you Rusty.  I did the installation and I noticed that when I ran the Cleanitol Files that it also removed a lot of the RMIP stuff (the AC Mega Prop Files did the same).  Just want to make sure all is well.

So basically, the ACB, RMIP and ACFA all work together, however, there are dependencies that will be removed via the AC mega prop files and ACFA.  So it is best to install the RMIP and ACB first, then the AC Mega prop files, then ACFA v2?

Yes, the AC mega props and textures contain the same props and textures that were in the RMIP and ACB Jets and Terminals so they should be installed first and then replaced with the new prop and texture packs.

I'm not sure if the problem I am having is in any part due to what you guys have released but I think a few others have run into this problem.  More importantly, perhaps we can all find a solution to it.

Take a look at this picture and look at the runway if you could (ignore the overlapping planes - that's another problem I'm working on fixing  ::) ) :

As you can see, I want to use the default maxis small municipal airport.  I downloaded several other airport mods which I'm eager to use (if only for eye candy) but I suspect one of them is causing a problem/conflict and I'm not sure which one is doing it or how to correct it.

Any thoughts?  Any help would be appreciated.

p.s. oddly enough, the runway strips for the fire station look fine but the runway strip for the airbase also looks odd...

I don't think it has anything to do with our creations, as we haven't done anything much with ground textures, except the overlays in RustyXL's lots. I saw this same texture issue in Tomas Neto's Rural Life of Vale Paulista, so you could talk to him to see if he resolved it. It would be good to figure out where that texture is intended to be used, and open the airport in Lot Editor to isolate its IID code, then the conflict can be resolved, but I'm guessing that if you downloaded a lot of mods, most of them were AC team's creations, but it might have something to do with some of the early airport runway packs.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the old Joerg airport packs. I'll have a look around for how to fix this and get back to you  ;)

--Edit--
You need to completely remove all traces of the Joergs & Thalassicus packs from your plugins folder.
The files that must be removed should be:

Airport_V1.3.dat
LgRun.dat

Those are the two files that should be causing this glitch, but please post if you still have this issue after removing them.

FANTASTIC!  I removed those files and my runways look normal again. :)  Thank you VERY MUCH for the specific and easy to understand help. :)

I hope others who have this problem will find the answer here (I know of at least another guy who had this problem).

Also, the overlapping planes problem is happening because you have an automata mod installed that replaces the default Maxis 707s with much larger 747s (I've seen this on the STEX before, I just can't remember who made it).  You can replace this with another automata mod if you wish however you can't have more than one automata mod installed at a time.

Yup, that was the next problem (I managed to fix this up myself but thank you for your help!).  You made some great models BTW! :)  The plane in the picture was a northwest 747-400 I believe.  It's too bad that we couldn't have more than one mod installed and working at a time.  I use the SC4 startup tool (great stuff) as a way to get around it but maybe in simcity 5 they'll plan ahead for things like this...

I used to have that plane mod. It was made by srainy. You could move them further apart in the lot editor.

I am not very comfortable using the lot editor but I might try to do that in the future. :)  For the time being, this airport's size (along with my region in question) cannot justify the use of 747's at this time but in the near future anything is possible. :D  I swapped an MD85? in there and it fits the bill (along with turboprops and other smaller planes).

I am having a problem with Shadeslayer's SCAG Cargo lots... simply put every time I query any of the lots my game crashes! I read that there was an April update so I re-downloaded the pack today and it still crashes, any ideas??

You may have misread. There was not an April update, but do expect an update within the next couple of weeks.

I am having some serious stability issues with many of the packs.  Much of them like the ground marking pack crash my game every time.  Anyone have any ideas so that I can get some banging airports working????

Well, two packs off the top of my head that crash is the cargo pack and the pavement improvement packs.  I have all the dependencies for both and they still crap my game out.  I am at a loss!  :'(

The only issue with the cargo lots is when you try to query them. For the time being, I can only suggest that you do not query them. A re-release should be out in the relatively near future.

I'm not sure if this is SCAG-related, but it does kinda involve the SCAG Cargo lots. Basically, I downloaded one of tabi's plane packs, and lotted the AN-225. When I was using the lot editor, I was trying to make it the same stats as the FedEx 787 Cargo Jet, and I thought that by using the same building as that lot, I could make it have the same stats: Here is the FedEx lot which has the same building that I wanted to use on my lot:

When I load up my AN-225 lot, I type in the exemplar name of that building, and it doesn't show up. Instead I used one of the RMIP buildings, which was just called "RMIP lot", with the hope that it would still appear in the airport menu, and still make an income like other planes. Could someone please help me change this so that it functions in the same way that one of the SCAG planes does, so that it appears in the airport menu and it generates income, and so it shows up with the name that I gave this lot (which was called "Antonov AN-225 Cargo Carrier") I'm kinda new to all of this, as I only downloaded the L.E. recently. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, I'm not expert at this, but if you save the file name in the LE, it won't appear in the game as what you namedit. I believe you have to go into the plugin manager and edit the name there, although I am still not sure. Hope this helps!

Well I think the name is because of the building I used, which was just called "RMIP lot" in the L.E, and it turned out to be the 4x4 grass lot. If I could use the same building that the SCAG 787 lots use, (which are the closest current release to the An-225 in terms of stats) but the particular building doesn't show up in the L.E. I tried resizing one of the lots and simply replacing the 787 with the 225, but it won't let me resize the lot. &mmm

I've downloaded and installed the Airbus A330-200 and A330-300 lots along with all dependencies, but the lots in-game show up as transparent (grass). The ramp markings and all props around the gate are visible in addition to the plane itself, but the usual dark grey widebody ramp texture is missing. SCAG 757 and 777 lots all show up fine, so it's not a question of me missing the texture.

I deleted and reinstalled the lots without success, any suggestions?

Ah, this problem has been raised before: There is indeed another dependency, You need the AC Mega Textures 1 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1896) pack. Sorry, this is my fault, I used the texture from the texture pack by mistake, instead of the one that is included with the 747 pack from AC. Please accept my apology for the inconvenience.

Could you try putting the X-ports folder back and see if that fixes it? If not, could you post a bigger/more zoomed in screenshot so it's easier to see the affected planes?

Mea culpa.

I made a mistake at some point of using the AC Team's other dark concrete texture - and that has caused a handful of dependency related problems. The texture I used is 0xB113591A, which was contained in the pack AC MEGA Textures Vol 01 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1896) (a dependency for the X-Ports, indeed). However, for a very quick fix, feel free to download this file here, which will add just the one base texture in question. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Also, that looks like a very nice airport so far.

When I save the game the base-texture becomes blue or black, and it was the same problem with the A330-300's, when I saved, the base texture went blue or black. Really strange. But now I have the solution for the A330-300's, thanks!  :)

Hi, I'm looking for this file :
Gate Boundary 707/320/737/757 dark pavement (I already installed the light pavement version).

This dark texture is so great, it creates a nice contrast with planes.

Whenever I try to use the ARIP in the game or the PLT roads my game crashes and I have all the dependencies installed. Any help you can give?

I think there may be something conflicting with the ARIP/PLT Roads because I just tested it and I can plop all pieces withou crashing the game.

We do not release our models and texture packs for the purposes of quality control and rights to content. You may be able to find these models elsewhere online and can convert most to be compatible with the B.A.T.

I tried using Voltaire's Atlantic Southeast Airlines CRJ200 and jetway but the angle it is in using the Lot Editor does not line up to use it with any of the terminals or even the ground markings of 90 or 45 degree angles. Any help to correct this problem? Rotating the CRJ prop  or any of the overlay textures (markings) do not line up with each other. I have sent a message to Voltaire have not heard back from him.

SCAG can hardly help you; this properly belongs with Voltaire. Moreover, this isn't a bug at all, as this particular aircraft model is to be used at this angle (probably in the prefabs or similar). If you want a CRJ-200 aligned to the cardinal directions of the game, the right place to ask would be the request thread.

There's no modular diagonal ground markings for a CRJ with a jetway. The ones in the pre-fab airports won't line up with anything else.

We do have diagonal gates in development, but they're designed for large aircraft; so a CRJ would look out of place. And even then, it seems the Atlantic Southest CRJ is designed at a 30 degree angle, but any diagonal gate would be 45 degrees.

Making a smaller diagonal gate is on my to-do list, but right now this is the best that could be done:

Was there anything more about the Taxiway Improvement and the cargo lots?  I also (believe) have all of the dependencies yet it still CTD when I place any lot from either package.  Is there a known conflict with another set or lot that I missed?

Could you try removing the cargo lots then placing tmip, and then vice versa, and let us know the results?

Do you have the most up to date versions of each (please be sure).

Finally run the game clean with ONLY tmip and clss installed.


It's a lot of work but I would like to identify the conflict, and can't recreate the problem myself; I use both in all my airports, as I imagine most people do since both sets are for serious airport builders. I've never heard of this problem happening before with the release versions.

Well...I tried with an empty folder and just the airport lots and it worked fine.  Just what I was worried though, it is somewhere in my 4GB plug in folder.  Ive got some work to do I guess....

Edit: I have isolated it to a conflict with a file or files in my dependency/essentials folder.  Getting warmer...

Run a file duplicate search just by name, you might have 2 different versions of one of the depends. Personally I use http://sourceforge.net/projects/dff/ since most other dupe finders have limited options and always insist on a binary compare. It's not the most user friendly program, but it's the best (not to mention open source), and very useful for a massive plugin collection and never using Cleanitol :)

FOUND IT!   It didnt show up as a DUP because it wasnt a DUP.  Three files in the depths of my dependency folder that I must have missed on the cleenitol. 

D66_essentials.dat, GC_essentials.dat, and z_SW77-AirportSupport.dat

Now I am not sure exactly which file is causing the problem (or it could be all three) but at this point, don't really care.  To the trash!

I have the same problem as Firefighter57 as well as many other posters in here.  I get a CTD when I plop several of the SCAG Cargo planes as well as the warehouses that are listed in the dependencies. 

This is a thread I posted on Simtropolis with the same problem. (http://community.simtropolis.com/topic/58703-building-an-airport-and-getting-ctds-when-placing-certain-lots/)  Initially I thought it was an RMIP-SCAG conflict but it seems as though many people here are still having issues.  I know it lies within my plugins folder because when I clear the plugins sans cargo,warehouse and control tower lots they place without problem. 

I ran the DUFF program that Fafalone suggested and cleared the dependency dups but the ctd's still persist.  I also don't have any of the three files listed by firefighter57 so I guess I'm SOL there. :/  My problem isn't with the query, its with the placing.   I can do this, but once I click, I get the black screen and crash.

Are you talking about in the game?

Because if so, they're only released in the links you gave as props; not finished ploppable lots like most downloads. That means you would have to use Lot Editor to place them on a lot to be used in the game. I'm not sure if anyone has posted lots publicly for the military planes and maybe some cargo planes.

I've found a bit of a "bug" with the MMPs from the MD-80 set posted by joelyboy911 over on the STEX.  Basically, I've been looking for ways to slim down my plugins folder and one of the things I've decided to do is pare down my aircraft offerings and get into some custom lotting.  You guys do great work but at the same time there's no need to have 300 liveries sitting around I'll never get to using!  :)

Anyway, 7 clicks into the MD-80 MMP is the Scandinavian Airlines version:

If I remove the model for that airliner, re-enter the game and click 7 times, I now get this:

I have no idea which building that is as I've never seen it grow in-game (or see a Scandinavian MD-80 in it's stead!) but it must be a Maxis default building as I've nothing else currently in plugins (doing testing as I've alluded).  Apparently some kind of conflict.

That's really weird. I've never seen that building grow in my cities, so it's obviously not a Maxis building.

Oh i`m pretty sure it is a Maxis Building. It`s called "Hamster Tenements" and it grows at Stage 8.
