Just for information - the nine federal states (I prefer to call them "provinces" in English because they are so small compared e. g. with the American states  ) of Austria and their capitals:

Vienna - Vienna  (just the same , German: Wien)
Lower Austria (Niederösterreich) - St. Pölten
Upper Austria (Oberösterreich) - Linz
Styria (Steiermark) - Graz
Salzburg (province, here German: "Land") - Salzburg (city - German: Stadt)
Carinthia (Kärnten) - Klagenfurt
the Tyrol (Tirol) - Innsbruck
Vorarlberg - Bregenz
Burgenland - Eisenstadt

Vienna has 23 districts - I know them all by heart (we were forced to learn them by heart in elementary school...  ) I don't think that you want to know them, do you?

Hi Dustin, I might be wrong and probably am, but I can't see where I've been included in the small mob from downunder .

Also, and without his knowing of this post, our friend Stewart_Garden from Scotland is moving to Brisbane, Qld Australia in a week or two.
I think he should now be considered an honourary Aussie (mainly because I have gathered from his posts that he likes a beer or two ). I hope he doesn't expect it to be warm, the beer that is.

Dave (Tooheys) is correct, I will be moving from the UK to Australia in 7 days.  I should probably be removed from UK, England (my current residence) in about a week and added to Australia, Queensland.  Sorry for further confusion.  Am I the first person to have moved country/continent since you started this thread?

Thanks!  All I need to do now is tell the UK government ... and hope the Aussie government lets me in.  Heck, I like beer, Cold Chisel and speaking my mind ... they'll be dry cleaning the red carpet now.
