I definitly like the new night version. You successfully capture the effect the clouds gave, without the clouds

I'd agree with jmyers about the textures on the 'steps', easily fixed though.  If you are making 2 variants of the model for day/night, you should remove the people on loungers at night...I know Vegas has bright lights but they won't tan you (or maybe they will  :D ).  The area where the ¨black¨ triangular doorway is would also benefit from some very small spotlights, as if it was an outside restaurant/viewing platform.
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it

Quote&apls Hi Nealos , i really like the new texture you done for your Great Casino. Me too i found the number 6 the best. Great detail you put on too. Keep going that look very impresive.

Thank you friend! These types of comments and compliments are what I really need to keep going; together we can make this thing brilliant...

QuoteJust a couple comments about this particular picture
The UV map of all the angular walls look stretched. And a bit fake as a result. You may consider re mapping those specific sections or using a different texture. But I'm not sure what would suite at the moment.

For the night view that can be easily fixed, and the day just as easily - Thanks for spotting that!

QuoteThe other arrow points to a 'black' thing. What is the architectural purpose for the part of the building as well.

Hmm - Originally it was a door but it seems rather shabby and incomplete doesn't it... I was thinking of making it two doors that opened out... Will have to see on the next previews...

QuoteThe cloud (reflection in the windows) is a good idea but is going to be difficult for you I think. There is definitely cloud repetition between the hotel towers.

I know  :'( I get to one place I like and I find something else which bugers everything up; however I may be in luck and could actually find different types of cloud in different collections... I mean how different is the sky's colour at daytime??

QuoteWhy not try for a smaller version? We all know that Maxis scale is not very consistent so why is there a need for 'realism' as far as the MGM Grand? One thing is certain. Good texturing takes on a whole new importance when the buildings grow large. And yours is certainly huge. What is the footprint of the Casino?

Like I said before it is something I shall look into once it is rendered for the first time; as for the footprint there was none; I had to do it by eye and concentration not only from Google Earth but also from Pictures from Google - This thing isn't lifelike; heck no lol.

QuoteI like the balconies and the chase lounge chairs. Also your use of some people props enjoying the desert sun. I'm looking at the gray balcony floor and wonder if the MGM really has cement floors. More likely some type of terra cotta Mediterranean tile? How about some potted plants on the balconies as well. I'm thinking that you need a wider variety of color and some green wouldn't go amiss. Besides, we all like a bit of eye candy.

Actually you are right about that texture... I looked on Google Earth and the two surfaces are completly different (Roof and Balcony), and potted plants are a great idea... Why didn't I add them before? I did in the original version lol.... I agree we all like a bit of eye candy and the roof services alone prooved it. I was thinking trying out palm trees... See how they work?

Thanks for spotting those areas and making those suggestions too; it is posts like those which help it improve into something greater; I really appreciate it man.

It wasn't that hard to change it all actually, I thanked my brain for grouping and naming all the windows lol...

...Removing the people? That actually is true - They probably would be inside anyway; wise notation there! As for the spotlights... Resturant... ??? That gives me another idea...

Some pictures...

Day - With palm trees and a change of style!

jmyers2043, the tint of the window texture is darker so finding a matching tint clouded texture is going to be harder; This could be one of those sacrifices...

Day Detail - A new outdoor resturant with a grand entrance and some deck chairs & tables... Oh and let us not forget the palms and new floor texture shall we?

Night - No sims? Whaheeey!

Night Detail - The main resturant's main entrance is closed...

Night MGM Sign Detail - This is as close as I could get to lighting up that sign and keeping the texture...

I've started work on the main fountain, and instead of a loin I was thinking of having a golden statue carrying a globe; will show you when I have some pictures my friends.

Thanks again for your warm comments, appreciations, helpful hints and critisms... Every name I see on here will be in the thankyou list and any more that helped shall be too...

For now though...

Let's hope it stays that way until it is finished lol. Thank jmyers2043 for the details on the balconies; he reminded me about the pot plants lol.

That MGM sign was up there originally - Just didn't get around to focusing a picture on it.  On the actual balconies - Palm Trees potted - On the roof of the stepping structure; little air filters/circulators.

Me too... But I think that part could be the easiest after all of that work...

Just a little picture showing you what I'm working on now guys; it isn't much and please don't take it as anywhere near final becuase basically... It isn't.  $%Grinno$%

SGM Fountain Prop

I textured a few things to show you an example of how the thing will look - I was wondering; do you guys mind if I BAT and create your avatars as a way of showing appreciation? For example... BATing a Yoder figure for Yoder7652 and a dog in a little food dish for Kimcar?

Jeronji and some other well-deserved guy... Possibly Yoder7652... Your avatars are going in the lower pedestals so the sims can see them, but Jeronji I do have a slight problem... What do you want your little 'avatar' to be?

Same question to those who want something different...

These little avatars would go on the pedestals of this fountain... Engraved in gold of course lol...

That is funny! Good for you, Nealos! This is going to make it that much more special.

I do wish there was something that could be done to the sign at the top of the building for the night shot though. I love the palm trees. I normally HATE the SC4 palms, but this really works well!

Me too but the lighting wouldn't have it - It would either mean removing the blue haze over the whole building or making the sacrifice of making the sign not so well lit up.  Sorry man... I love that blue haze lol.

Oh and I see you have an avatar... ?

;D really wonderful, I'm honored, but i don't think ive earned the top row,  :D

You could use a target spot, change it from circular to rectangular, adjust the aspect ratio to fit your shape and make sure the hotspot and falloff do not exceed the sides of the sign et voila, it should light up quite nicely. If you combine this with making the texture self illuminating, the result should be closer to what you're looking for....although you may already know all of this in which case I shut my gob  ;D

Your work is coming along wonderfully Nealos! Great job

Over at my thread you asked me how much I paid for my PSP - I got mine on sale at Best Buy for $69.99 USD - it was very rare that I caught that sale - normally they don't fall below $90.00 USD.

Oh, and I think you've been drinkin' too many too  :P
