It's actually just a loco with police livery, a nice idea for a campaign.

Today I've got some tram pics, taken at Linz and Leonding, both Austria and the same tram network....

All of them contain a link to their bigger version on Deviantart, where you also can find more pics.

Some days ago, a new rail cooperation started a regular passenger service between Vienna and Salzburg. Of coures I had to pay a Visit to austria's Westbahn and the Stadler doubledecker EMUs of Westbahn AG. thoose nice thingies top out at 200 kph and can seat 501 passengers.

You're saying that those trains run 200kph?  :o They look to me like some regional trains..

Btw those are some really nice pictures you post in here, always a joy to watch :)

kbieniu7

How fast do they go during the normal work? What average speed do the infrastructure allow?
And how long is the tunnel in Linz, that you put photo in previous update?

By the way, while looking at this topic, I wish we had so well-kept and renovated railways, stations trains, etc  :'(
Thank you for visiting Kolbrów, and for being for last ten years!

You can find a factsheed about Stadler KISS HERE > LINK

@Jaris: Thankya! and plz. take a look @ the factsheet!

@kbieniu7:
Wien-Salzburg via St. Pölten, Linz and Wels.

Wien-St. Pölten is a normal stretch of railway (Vmax between 100 and 160) but in late 2012 the new HSR will open up, layed out for 250 kph.
St.Pölten - Linz - Wels is mostly 200kph, some parts will be upgraded for 230 during the upcoming years
Wels-Salzburg is mostly 'old style' again (vmax between 100 and 160, mostly high)

The operation speed of Westbahn trains might not be much below 200 where it's already possible, not much time to waste due to the timetable.

The lengh of the tram tunnel below Linz mainstation and surrounding areas depends from which one of it's three ends to which other end you're going.

Line 3: about 2km
Line 1,2 about 1,5 km  I do not know the exact numer of meters. but there also exists a turning loop somewhere down there.

I am always amazed at how massive american "light" rail trains look.  ::)

Hey, "go big or go home"!  ;D

Seriously though, and besides the few occasions where we could justify big ass vehicles, we tend to overdoe it.

While were bad with our train designs , we do a nice job with station construction , sometimes too much...

I did not say that the trains look bad. It is just different from what I am used to and I find that interesting. I meant this absolutely non-judgemental.

Have to agree about the stations. My jaw dropped to the floor when I first saw NYC's Grand Central Terminal and Union Station in Washington DC (where I got in trouble with Security because I did not know that I was not supposed to wait for the train on the platform  $%Grinno$% )

Some of the old railway stations in New Zealand are stunning, its just a shame no one builds these kind of buildings any more ... our cities would be works of art

I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?" DEATH thought about it. "CATS," he said eventually, "CATS ARE NICE.
