Wow, I didn't see that plot twist coming. Very clever.  ;)

Indeed an unexpected twist to the plot  ;D
I really like the newly discovered town, the Saint Chapelle is doing its job as a great focal point for Balthazaar.

Kcrimsonsim

pretty, and I'm looking for Leonardo gnomes in that Renaissance-looking burg. Good stuff.
Skin that smokewagon and see what happens!

Give a man a fire and he's warm for the day. But set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life.

Kcrimsonsim: Thanks for your comment!

Kwakelaar: Thank you! I really love that building.

peter007: Thanks! I made the army in the LE using PEG's Civil War Pack.

RickD: Thank you! It was fun to write.

Stargazing

Daphne sat alone atop the mountain, gazing up at the mosaic of stars above her.

"What is up there?
What are they doing to us?
Who put me here?
Are we alone?"

The steward rushed into His Royal bed chamber, failing to knock on the door and instead bursting into the room, knowing that privacy and proper manners were not of importance at this moment. The steward quickly searched the room with his eyes until he found His Greatness lying face down on the bed, a knife in his hand.

It is often said that people look peaceful when they are dead, as if they are merely taking a nap and will wake up once again soon. But not Ulysses. No, His Greatness was very much dead. He did not look peaceful at all, but instead he was haggard, his hair a mess, his face buried deep within the pillows, and his legs skewed at an awkward angle, dangling off the edge of the bed. Beside him, a note.

To my dearest people,

It is over. I have been told the Truth.

May you seek the light, while you still can.

Your beloved Majesty, Ulysses the Great IV

May you seek the light.

Jason
