This is what happens when put the fire department airstrip to work. When a tall building is too close to the end of the runway, the plane will simply bounce off the building during take-off!

This is probably by design, but still odd! ()stsfd()

prolly because of 9/11 ... I seem to remember planes striking and exploding when impacting a building in sc2k.

but City related.

See? That road is too short of a distance for that, not to mention while the roads may be wide to accommodate parking, the have real sharp corners, but technically SC4 did at first too. However there used to be this parking lot in reality I knew of that they reused a speed limit 45 sign, and only whited out the 4, that was weird though.

You play Garry's Mod?

I think they did it that way on purpose, or were just lazy. Besides, it's meant to be funny.

I have Gmodd, but I don't play it often. Too agoraphobic.

My sims love porn and guns it seems

Every single GLR station in the CBO looks like this picture for the most part

The funny part is, this station is across the street from the airport and is the only commercial development in the area and its all porn, gun shops, and hooters.  My city is the porn capital of Simcity  lol

j-dub

@Nascar_Guy, Oh! You caught that, did you? Well, I guess it takes one to know one.

Sure you don't mean the ATF capitol of SimNation? :D

mike3775

lol sure seems like it.

It simply amazes me how my game will build gun shops, tattoo parlors, hooters, porn shops, etc around the heavily used mass transit stations whenever I place a stop.

I wish I would have grabbed a picture when a gun shop, hooters, tattoo parlor, and porn shops sprang up across the street from a church and a Bank of America building.  That church sure didn't seem to help  lol

Making those places historical should have kept them from changing into something else, if those buildings are no longer there.

Looks like someone needs to enact the teen curfew ordinance  :)

j-dub

These days though, people don't only grafitti tag during their teens. Just because there is a curfew even for adults, does not mean it won't get protested, like the wall street thing going on now. You guys have not seen secrets until you have seen NYC's underground. New York City still has a bunch of people living underground for decades. Furniture and household items have been brought underneath, and there are some beautiful ancient areas forgotten down there, that the public will never see. I saw a documentary on YouTube about some dudes that went to explore it. And if you want an oddity for real life, it turns out there is serious rotting wood and crumbling rock foundations that are in very poor condition holding some of the city roads up.

mrbisonm

Not really a game oddity, but....
I guess I' missing a farmfield prop......lol.....so I called this part of my Citytile, "Boxtown or Boxton". ;

Reminds me of the fact that we can do a lot of fun things with farm fields. Why not a farm looking like a shopping mall with a parking lot as farm field? A prop family of parked cars on the lot and there we go!
I might just do it for fun.....

I was responding in the terms of the game  :)

But yes I know about the crumbling infrastructure.  There was a series on either History Channel or Discovery about it, and when they showed Seattle, it scared the crap out of me when they showed how many of the buildings in downtown are being supported by concrete that you can flake off big chunks of with your bare hands due to the salt air and lack of maintenance
