thundercrack83       Thanks! I hope you find the shopping to be world class! Though, Monkey Island is still upset to be snubbed by Walmart. Apparently, Walmart HQ doesn't think there's enough profits in banana by-products. But, give MI time... they have lobbyists.

Where does a stylish young monkey go to get the latest in golden banana accessories? How does one get exciting new designer tail bows? Or where does one get the gourmet chocolate chimp cookies that are the talk of Monkey Island? It's a one stop shopping bonanza for the well-to-do monkey. They all shop at The Vines.... Monkey Island's premier shopping destination.

Today, we will see several of our favorite monkeys on an expedition to find great fabulous new outfits and accessories!

What a fabulous fall day! The advertisements in the Monkey Island newspapers trumpeted the new Grape Ape Wine Festival sales. Monkey Island knows how to party! Perhaps you would like to buy some Monkey Bay wine? It's the finest export from Monkey Island not made from bananas!



(Pardon me a moment whilst I sip the lovely vino... it comes in red, white and rose... available in fine stores everywhere... /commercial plug)

Some exciting new fashions have been imported from the Banana Republic! And, exciting jewelry for primates of all sizes has just arrived! This type of special shopping expedition means a stop at The Vines. That's right, the premier destination for upscale shopping in all of Monkey Island: The Vines at Tarzan Place. Let's see what is on sale today.

Dangles and Ty, let's head over to the Tamarin Tuxedo shop for some superior sartorial supplies. Then, we can hang out at the Jungle Room and drink some wine to celebrate the Grape Ape Festival!

  Now, Baby Curious, you know as well as I do that we have just GOT to go to the Serengeti Salon first. Then, we can stop by Howler's Music before a quick trip to the Banana Barn.

Guys, I wanna go by the old Stonecutters' meeting hall...



...I hear there are lots of cool guys gathering there to reenact the civil war! Let's do that first, then we can come back into town to shop.

The boys set about to argue for some time, until they all decided to stop at the shops at The Vines first, then head out to the civil war reenactment at the Old Stonecutters' meeting hall. Let's now see what excitement and adventure awaits our three young monkey pals!


The entrance to the complex is a fabulous plaza of fountains which terminates in the open air Mercado de los Monos, the festive source for all of your south-of-Monkey Island supplies. To the right is the deluxe Dr. Zeus Hotel. Every ape from Chimpan-A to Chimpan-Z wants to stay at this plush locale! Adjacent to the hotel is a mixed use development of upscale shops and condos.


Monkey Island's only casino, The Golden Gibbon, is a short walk from the Mercado and the hotel. I wonder how they boys did at the casino.

Woo Hoo! I won 100 bananas!

One of the best parts about shopping at The Vines is the fabulous artificial lake on the property. It provides lots of scenery but is not a big draw for swimmers and waders- monkeys don't like swimming very much.


Between the Mercado and the lake is the posh Golden Groomer restaurant. There, your waiter will pick the bugs off of you and then the chef will cook them up on a hibachi grill right in front of you! It's a great show – and a great meal!


At this end, small shops ring the lake. Macaques 'R Us has a store there, as does Gorillas in the Mist Perfume & Cologne Shoppe.

With shopping excitement like this – who would shop anywhere else??!!

Excellent update, my friend! Of course, the monkey re-enactment of the Civil War was a high spot--it doesn't take a stone of triumph to know that! It's always a pleasure to see what you've got going on here!
