I need 3D models for testing

I need some models to do performance tests. If you have some finished textured building models with various poly counts from (10-20 to 100-200) in 3DS, 3dsmax, maya or blender formats please archive them and either upload them here or to some file host.

Thanks  :)

I don't work at such low poly counts, but I can whip up some simple polygons for you. Do you have some specific texture size in mind? 512x512, 1024x1024?

Here you got something to use:

it's very simple...
56 polys - 33 verts

5 textures (3 1024x1024 texture, 1 624x640 texture, 1 600x800 texture)

All the textures are in the .rar, together with a .max and a .3ds file.
(the folder "Wood_house_1" was under C:\Program Files\Textures\...)

Little screenshot:

How can I send it to you?

Nique

I use dropbox, and put it in a public account. fast and simple.

Set it up, create a CityMania/models folder in your public folder and put the file there, now right click on that file and click "copy public link" (to clipboard)
now paste the copied link here in a reply.. and voila

I've forgot to add one very important detail, all textures should be combined into one file. Using more than one texture on a model significantly lowers performance. Can you try and combine those 5 textures with Photoshop or Gimp into single jpg file? I know it will make texturing bit complicated, but, otherwise model is not very useful.

Textures must be square and of power of two size (64x64, 128x128, 256x256...)

1 texture?  :'(
Ok, no problem at all - details won't be as before, but the textures are the same...

Now we've got:
1 texture 1024x1024
1 mesh (same as before) + 1 unwrap uvw modifier

Well, i don't know what tomkeus needs, but you will have an answer from him soon i guess (hes online).

Why i thank you is that its great to see people are trying to help

This is very interesting. I'm still getting 403
#define TRUE FALSE /*Happy debugging suckers*/

Ok, I think that I found the error...

try this:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4232381/Wood_house_1.rar

This file isn't in a folder I created under "public" in dropbox website... probably I can't share things that are in other folders

Nique

victor, you have a My dropbox in your documents?

Right click on the file on your computer, Dropbox>copy public link

paste it here the url should be something like:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/552137/CityMania/Temp/logo.png

you got it

Thanks, I think I solved the problem... I was faster than you  :P

EDIT: if you want I can send you also an ultra-low-poly tree (just give me enough time to create right textures...)

tomkeus

This is good . Few more would be nice ;)

Graphics cards are able to support up to four textures on a mesh, very old cards (like Vodoo 2 era) can only support two textures per mesh. Having 4 textures for every building will be very inefficient, but if we have a common texture pack then we could possibly have buildings which share textures. This would save a bit on memory use.

Victor01

What about not-diffuse-maps (alpha map, specularity map, bump map, displacement map,...). How they can be used in-game?
You must use two textures for this (alpha+diffuse or bump+diffuse or ...).

Victor01

Ok, here we got another building (mmmh... one of my best low-poly so far).

Well... it hasn't got a name, but:

1 mesh (148 poly) + unwrap uvw
1 texture 1024x1024

I'm going to finsh also a little factory.
;D Waiting for in-game screenshots...
