In 13 years I have never released a BAT without prior and thorough testing. None of the hundreds of files I have released has ever had unintended, irreparable or game altering effects despite modding and making many, many lots that no-one else has ever made before. I don't know why I would suddenly change that track record now. :-\

Anyway, 11 years ago, I made this. You can see it on page 2 or 3 of the thread:

It wasn't part of the separate folder but has been growing merrily in my regions all that time, and for whatever reason I thought I had released it, but it turns out that wasn't the case.

Of course the only problem with uploading really old files is that they sometimes need a newer counterpart to enable a reference point

This is the main section of Thomas Jefferson's farm, Monticello.

In re: the blood donation building, that would work great as a neutral building for medical offices. One thing I find is that SC4 lacks a lot of the medical office types of buildings that cluster around hospitals.

The most common variety is something like that, a two- or three-story structure with room for eight to ten medical offices (think a retina specialist, an allergy specialist, etc.).

A lot of that sort of development, at least here, happens in "office condo"-type developments which comprise a number of buildings in the same development. (Example, example 2, example 3) These often cluster around hospitals and house such offices, but you also find them away from hospitals where they serve a variety of professional clients (insurance agents, law firms, etc.) as well as dentists and other medical offices that don't find value in being near a hospital. There's a lot of parking in between the buildings. Sometimes, there is just one main building or two, but again, they're rarely more than one story. I've never seen something like this for SC4 and always wished it existed, where it could uniquely provide some low-density CO$$ options on relatively large lots.

mattb325

I've noticed the same thing as well.

In SC4 you have the main health OG (clinic, hospital etc) and the only different one is the 'health-other' OG. I've used that in the Market Hall reward and it has a small effect on surrounding areas without needing funding sliders etc. As far as I know Maxis didn't make any other distinctions within buildings.
But in regards to modding such buildings, it would be really bad to add these OGs to growables for the simple reason that you will create game balance problems. For instance SG made a NIMBY growable pack that when it grew too frequently created riots: documented as such, and with no game destroying consequences, but it serves as a beacon for why civic or demand altering OGs should not be added to RCI; only ploppables.

In terms of what you are asking, it might be possible to make a single mega-lot in a sea of asphalt with a single hospital building amongst other hospital-type building props. That way you avoid having to fund multiple placed hospitals in a single tile just to get a certain look.

At any rate, in addition to the stage 2 farm (farms seem to be about as popular as horse dung) I have made Monticello as a quasi- private school ("quasi" in as much as it educates K-6 and High School, doesn't go on strike, and alleviating R$$$ demand caps while using the sliding funders so that it fills more quickly than the in-game private schools:

I wasn't even suggesting having it modded as a civic lot—just providing an idea for a type (and, in some ways, a *density*) of CO$$ development that in SimCity doesn't exist a lot.

Another couple have been retrieved from the vault:

An old underground parking garage from 2011. This is perfect for park and ride set ups and increases mass transit use. Place it near a mass transit (rail/bus/tram etc) for maximum use. Sims drive to/from their houses to the parking garage and then continue by mass transit to the their employment and back again. Looks much better in suburban applications than multi-story car parks.

As well a series of homes from 2015 (this is in 3ds so be sure to pick Maxis or Dark nite). These are real houses from a speculative builder for small lots. They are all in building families, so you'll get a ton of variety from just four models

Very nice. I love your parking garage entrance and have used it previously on several of my lots. (wouldn't mind a HD version without the trees..... ;) JK)

Houses are really cool too. Love these kind of houses with a large garage on the bottom floor, basically my dream home. They won't really fit my region though so i might not use them.

Love those house as all the work you do mattb325

I really miss building cities in place of Modding.

Thanks guys. Yes, modding is a pain...a real pain  ()sad()

There are plenty more houses, yet  $%Grinno$% ::)

Another couple are released from the vault:

And a functional diagonal office building (these are still in such short supply)

mattb325

Another from the vault.

Buildings for under L2 Networks (when I made these back in 2008 there were only a few L2 networks, but these buildings still work with all of the new ones: highways RHW, el rail, viaduct rail, roads monorail, HSR, etc).

Fully functional (either ploppable CS$ or IM) they use prop families for lots of variety.

Wooow... it's really nice! Something similiar what I was asking, while you were making the station models, but at that time I asked this type for L1... Well L2 works for me quite well too! :)  &apls &apls &apls
Really great addition for our cities! :)
Thanks for sharing them, also thank you for the other "found" gems from you vault!

Nice work. I like having something nice to fill the empty spaces under the elevated transportation roads, and those buildings will be a nice addition for my cities
However, is it possible to make an alternative version for modern-futuristic cities? It's very common for science fiction and actual concept of future cities to have roads and railroads not only next to the buildings, but also at the top of them.

mattb325

Thanks  :) When I get through the backlog of old unreleased bats plus the stuff that I have been working on for these few months I do intend to make some sunken buildings and some more underpass type buildings....but I am prone to going off on tangents  ::)

Lakehouse Farming estate. Another one from 2007. Two versions are in the download:

More homes from the vault (2015)

Another set of real homes from a real builder...like the last these are in building families for tons of variety from these four models. I also like that they are single story (there aren't too many of these in SC4) as well as suitable for 1x1 low density lots. (although they come in other sizes: 2x1, 1x2, 1x3, 2x2 & 2x3)

I loves Sim City forever!

That vault seems to be pretty resourceful alright! I like the small homes in particular, could be something from Germany as well (where homes tend to be a lot smaller than elsewhere).

More sets of modern houses .... my regions are going to have some variety now. :)

mattb325

Thanks guys. I do like the smaller houses very much and as well as having a European vibe, they also have a kind of Japanese sensibility (particularly the 2 story ones) which I very much like.

The 'vault' is resourceful alright, and also full of tangents. From itty-bitty houses to a rare example of me making a high rise....

It's another from 2016.

Love your work mate, you really are a credit to the community!!!

mattb325

Thanks gutterclub.  :)

Another vault item sees the light of day. Just a fictional infill villa for medium density areas:
