Good day to all reading this new MD. After talking with my friend Xiziz, the author of Krimean Socialist Republic, I've decided to abandon Ankara and start up a new CJ. I had fun with Ankara, but it just got old. And ever since I started it I've been wanting to get to building what I can build well and like to the most :), Eastern European cities. Without further ado I'd like to present my latest project, PSSO.The People's Socialist State of Odeschyna

The History of the People's Republic of Odeschyna
The first record of civilization in the People's Socialist State of Odeshchyna was that of the Greek colonies of Oblia, Tyras, Niconium, Panticapaeum, and Chersonesus dating to the first millennium BC. As history progresses, the Scythians settled the area later followed by the Sarmatians. Throughout the middle ages the lands were part of the Kievan Rus, the Golden Horde, the Grand Duchy of Lithuanian, and the Crimean Khanate. During the rise of the Ottoman Empire, Odeschyna was conquered but later passed to the hands of the Russian Monarchs during the Russo – Turk wars of the 18th Century. In 1819, the major port of the area and the current capital, Odessa, was declared a free port and remained so until 1859. This led the city and the region to contain an extremely diverse population. In 1905 workers in the city of Odessa rebelled against the monarch Russia and were slaughtered in the streets. The rebellion was famously shown in Sergei Eisenstein's movie, The Battleship Potemkin.

During the Russian Civil War of 1919 Odeschyna was occupied by numerous groups including the French Army, the Red Army, and the White Army. Finally, in 1920, the Red Army took control of the region and united it with the Ukrainian SSR which later became part of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The region suffered a famine from 1921-1922 as a result of the Civil War. The region later prospered under Lenin's plan of Ukrainization, where the region was industrialized. Upon the death of Lenin, the plan was reversed however by his successor, Joseph Stalin, who targeted many of his purges against Ukraine and Odeschyna in particular. During the Great Patriotic War, Axis forces consisting of German and Romanian troops occupied the region from 1941-1944. During these four years, over 600,000 citizens were either executed or deported. The region was finally liberated in 1944 and its capital, Odessa, was named a Hero City of the Soviet Union. After the Great Patriotic War, the region was rebuilt from the ground up and became the most import port region in the USSR. Many of the USSR's essential goods passed through the docks of Odessa and several other smaller ports of Odeschyna. In 1964, Premier Nikita Khrushchev visited the city of Odessa and insisted on seeing the Potemkin steps. Standing on the top step he declared that this is where the Great Revolution began. Later in the year, numerous public improvement projects were started in Odeschyna and the industrial capacity of the region was doubled. The Oblast was thriving under the socialist system and the region was often show cased to foreign dignitaries.

In 1988, the citizens of the Odeschyna Oblast declared that they had become disillusioned with the increasingly capitalistic government of the USSR and asked for independence under which they would continue using a socialist model. Premier Mikhail Gorbachev, facing other more pressing problems, granted the request and the Odeschyna Oblast had gained independence. Under the terms of treaty of independence, all military units based in the Oblast would remain as the armed forces of the new Socialist State of Odeschyna. The region began to thrive with its economy built upon the trade that went through the regions ports. The defense budget was cut and the additional funds were transferred to public welfare and public improvement projects. After the breakup of the USSR, Odeschyna was asked to join the new capitalist Ukraine and denied with its citizens still preferring the socialist model. Today, the People's Socialist State of Odeschyna continues to thrive around the major economic enterprises of shipbuilding, oil processing and shipment, industrial manufacturing, and agriculture. Recently, the PSSO has signed a mutual defense agreement with the Socialist State of Krim and is a founding member of the Tri-Partite Alliance, which comprises of the Socialist State of Krim, the Imperial Republic of Elytheria, and the People's Socialist State of Odeshchyna. During 2006 & 2007, the PSSO was a member of the SCJU but chose to leave the Union after becoming disillusioned with it. PSSO has, however, chosen to continue diplomatic ties with several other Union members including but not limited to the Constitutional Monarchy of Calderwood & Reginam da Domena Lorella. PSSO is also improving economic and diplomatic ties to other nations of the world, including San Senderiz.

This area is located just to the Northwest of the Potemkin Steps near the harbor. Several factories and storage areas area in this area built to serve the docks less than a kilometer away. In the upper area of the picture one can see workers housing for the dock hands. The canal in the picture extends inland to the downtown area of Odessa and sees heavy barge traffic.

Here we catch another glimpse of the canal and the factories of this area. In the bottom of the picture is some more worker's housing just under a small clay pit that is being extracted.
Thats all for tonight, unfortunately don't expect a substantial update like this for a little while. However do look for small things like a quick mosaic or something. Strike that, Ive been able to finish an entire district :D Just a few new relots and I'm all set for a second update.

awesome first update Owen! I like how its all laid out
I have been waiting for ever to see this MD pop up! :D
It was definitely worth the wait, though...I love the history and the good use of large tenements. It's got a nice Commie feel to it already. ;D
Edit: Curse you Hotdogs, I wanted to be the first. >_<
Very nice work. Even though it's a Commie country, it still needs some people walking around. :P
I quite like this place, I wouldn't mind living there.
wow! total awsomeness yoman! you seem to do the socialist thing very well! i love the history i dont get how you could come up with something like that &apls

A very nice start for this MD, great looking moasic and map.
That looks amazing! I can't see a single detail in those moasaics that isn't perfect. I really can't wait for more. This is truly great stuff. &apls
A fantastic start there, Yoman! Looking forward to more...
Wow........I had to look it over and over again and again. That looks very well planed and soooo realistic. I'm going to be following this one very closely.

Robin
Looking great, the attention to detail really pays off! I love that quarry! ;D
That is a good start Yoman.
you have introduced Odeschyna very thoroughly.
I also like the way you combine the ingame pics with the RL ones.
I look forward to the way your new state will Progress. :)
Strechnitz.
Very interesting start, Yoman! &apls
Everything is well-ordered, both in the introduction and on pictures
Industrial buildings and storage areas compose very well with canals, everything looks fantastic, but maybe SA is right - more people and some disorder would be good ;)
I will dfinitely visit your work in future
Wow, a very promising start, the pictures are looking very good. Looking forward to more.

This Update Dedicated to Seb (Xiziz)
For his substatial imput on my cities and our cooperation in both our MDs.
Today I have to mosaics from a factory and dock workers neighborhood just above the area from the last update, in fact you can see the same retaining wall on one of the mosaics. This is my first wall to wall neighborhood in this style so bear with me :). In future updates I'll probably include a bit more text on the area but I'm in a bit of a rush tonight, so what I do add will be in the picture descriptions.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg528.imageshack.us%2Fimg528%2F5290%2Fmosaic3bc7.jpg&hash=07b7aae43d8e42f4cd1278236cd6079af1c33a74)
In the top of this shot you can see one of the tenements from the previous update. Factories continue to be common place along the canal as it moves to higher ground, although after the first kilometer they are predominantly on the western side of the canal. The housing in this picture is a mix of historic apartments and modern tenements. Most of the residents of these houses work at the docks or nearby factoires and get to work via either the Красная Линия Subway Line with its world renowned beautiful stations or buses.

The same area and the canal from a different angle in which we can observe the Фабричное Министерство, or Ministry of Production, sitting next to the canal which is responsible for the output of Odeschyna's factories.
Okay, thats all for today :) I should be able to get an update up by the end of the week, but no promises.
Nice update, looks really nice and i love this w2w style :P fits in to 100%

*GLOMP*
w2w is amazin! and yes i do know the difference between socialist and communist :P great update i like the factory :)
Very nice. It's a great mix of concrete and greenery. I quite like the canals in the industrial areas.
Super update and great mosaics. Your city looks very well planned and very realistic. You won't catch me missing one of your updates. ;)

Man.. what I would give to figure out how you do it.. my first attempt at a CJ on ST kinda looked like crap.. and Now with that entire region gone... I need to recreate it all... hopefully for here...
Another "red" MD eh $%Grinno$% atleast it's not another monarchy :D :D
But, mosaics were good but seen before. But your appoarach on socialist state is so far most realistic what I've seen, looks like Estonia. Can I call this PSSO or what?
woah, excellent update owen! it looks like a very east-european/grittish neighborhood! really liked the buildings you chose, especially the w2w houses! nice job!
How wonderful. I'm not a huge fan of socialist CJ's, but I do love them when they are done so well.
The use of images both in game and RL are fantastic and of course the W2W work is stunning and just works so well.
Overall a fantastic set of updates and I shall return to Odeschyna..........I hope there will be Vodka next time. :D

Seb (Xiziz) - Glad you liked your update :)
Seahawkfan - Thank you, took quite awhile to get it to grow properly.
Daniel (Shadow Assassin) - Well glad you had a good reason to comment :P Glad you liked my mix.
Rooker1 - If I catch you you shall be tried before a court of the people and shot :P Nah jk, glad you liked it :)
Simplmn9 - Its all in the plugin choice and knowing it, build your plugins to your style, know how big their zones are, and they should grow if you cheat and use super-demand like me :P Oh and also one last major bit, patience to bulldoze what grows that you don't, wait long enough under the right conditions and what you want will grow.
Bengt - Yes, muhahaha another "Red" one :) Your comment means quite alot here as I know your blunt and honest, and therefore am glad you think its quite realistic, and yes using PSSO is just fine.
Daniel (iamgoingtoeatyou) - I love those w2w houses, and look below ;)
Belfastuniguy - Thanks.
This Update Dedicated to Daniel (Iamgoingtoeatyou)
For being a good friend and helping with the custom maps & graphics.
Today I will show a suburban area of Odessa as I continue to work on the innards of the city. After this update I'm kind of out of my already done areas (though the last one I did in two days :P) I could post an update on farms using Seb's (Xiziz) great PSing methods, but that would be kindof boring since it would be much the same as his great update. Currently Seb and I are working on an extensive collection of personal 3d models including a wide range of Soviet Military Equipment, among the collection however are a two new ship models (a tanker larger than SOMYs (though not quite as detailed) and a common cargo ship). We've also added a few port cranes modeled on the ones in Odessa and the ones over the dry dock in Nikolayev, Ukraine. A Kiev Class Aircraft Carrying Cruiser might appear very soon in game also ;).
But for now onto the update!
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg218.imageshack.us%2Fimg218%2F1407%2Fmosaic5ry5.jpg&hash=7dd3ce4da69c0f5da521d274c1d587b5b36a2a4e)
In this Suburban District located west of Odessa most work in the factories on the outer belt of the city. There are roughly 300 people in each small apartment and over 1000 in the tenements living in the Workers Paradise that is Odeschyna. Most commute to work via the commuter train lines and the extensive bus network of Odessa. Recently many Ukrainian nationals looking for work and residence have immigrated to the Workers Paradise and now live in the suburbs of Odessa.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg68.imageshack.us%2Fimg68%2F259%2Fmosaic6et5.jpg&hash=a57d44cc1f6caa972f64299e72f94f2c9c685984)
Apologies for the large size of this second mosaic to those on slow connections. However in it we can see the local train stations, a few suburban buildings, and at the left of the image, a heliport for an Mi-24 Hind Helicopter of the Odeschynian Air Defense Force, the same heliport is also visable (slightly better) in the first mosaic towards the bottom.
Once again I'm sorry to those operating on a slow connection, hopefully the first mosaic kept you entertained while the second one loaded. I'll try to make them smaller next time :)
Again, it looks realistic with symmetry and you have "the right buildings" for residentals BUT two IMO you have two mistakes: the glass corner-office building in the middle of first mosaic. It's corner is facing wrong direction and it dosen't look good. Other one is that where are children's playgrounds? Communist parties think that children are the most valuable asset of the future and so far it's important to keep "future" in shape. If you look pictures of old soviet residental blocks or Chinese blocks, you see swings and carousels in them. But otherwise your lots are good, I assume that you made them because my lots for those buildings are different, IF I remember right..
Well, until I replace the factory equipment in this PC with better, more cutomer hardware.. I'm not going to be playing SC4 anytime soon..
Thank for the suggestion though.. and superb update! &apls
great MD you got there yoman! i like that copter in one of your pics reminds me of those Desert Strike games on the sega
Great atmosphere!! You always impress me! I hope you show more photos of this great ghettos next time ;) !!
Ah, now this is a great start you got off to here Owen! ;D ;)
I love the way everything fits, matches and how smooth the transitions between the LOTs are. That deserves a mention and an applause! &apls I've always been a sucker for perfection, and you my friend, achieve it no doubt! :satisfied:
Now if only I'll get off my butt and get La République Impériale d'Eleutheria up and running... %wrd
Anyway! Not to detract too much of the attention of this amazing MD! Good luck with your endeavours here!

wow! everything fits in sooo prefectly! i wish i had city building skillz like that :D &apls
Fantastic two new mosaics of your city! Great work!
thanks owen :) i really liked the update, very nice suburban area and i like picking out all the small details! your city building excellent ;)
This is looking really excellent! You have been doing some extensive re-lotting, am i right?
In my eyes, it is perfect, I'll be sure to visit again $%Grinno$%
Hind heliport :D allways needed to keep those lazy people dragging the entire system down in check.
Great pictures, in particular the second Mozaic, love those tenantments, only objection i have would be the two lowermost tenantments in the second mozaic, there fasing the opposite direction of the others. Normall in these kind of areas(i would take RL photos of some of stockholms areas if i wasnt scared shitless going their with my 7000SEK camera) all the balconies face the same direction, or same two directions, or three even, but normally they dont face north at all, and tend to face soulth, soulth-west, soulth-east. this is to catch the most of the sun on the balconies, those facing north would be in shadow for almost the entire day, the entire year.
Just a small detail though, and there are allways exceptions :P
These are some absolute great pictures! The socialist atmosphere is very well catched in those. And in addition, Odessa is clearly the labourers paradise: so many private cars parked along the streets indicate a prosperous economy my friend! I think I even spotted some Porsches and Cabrios :P
How utterly depressing...though the colors make the destitute conditions less noticeable. Definitely a Worker's "Paradise". $%Grinno$%
Keep up the good work Owen!
Ugly.........depressing..........low income. I love it. Great work on the mosaics Do you know where there is a tutorial on how to do mosaics. I still don't know how. ()sad() How close to work are all these people and how do they get there? Great use of the Somy lots, they are so nice. But the others, where did you get them? I don't recognize them. Are they from SFBT?

Replies for the People
Bengt - Once again your advice and criticism is very welcomed, I just built another suburban area today and added a few playground lots I added. The glass building is actually the high school of the area, perhaps it was misplaced though.
Kevin (SIMplMn9) - If you ever need help you know where to find me :)
Ryan (Filasimo) - I doubt they were Soviet Mi-24 copters in those games though :P Thanks goes to Glenni for the Hind.
szymcar - my suburbs will take up a large portion of 3 large tiles, so you should see more, thanks :)
Marius (M4346) - Finally you got your act together and visited one of your socialist brothers :P Thanks for the nice words and I'll look forward to see your delegation and Seb's at my dacha soon ;) Look below btw.
sEAhAwk fAn121 - Thank you, I take alot of pleasure building the cities when they come out the way I want :)
bat - Thank you!
Daniel (iamgoingtoeatyou) - Thanks for your help in all the mosaics etc, couldn't have done it without you.
mjig_dudy - Not really, Ive been using the same replace the ugly maxis base textures mod you have :P Though I do relot a lot of larger buildings.
Seb (Xiziz) - You've been most useful in your advice on those tenements. The hind will be needed if we get our acts together also :P
Sebes - I deeply wish I could get rid of those cars and replace them with GAZs & Ladas, thank you for the kind words though :)
Dark Jedi06 - Indeed, everyone loves living here in the Workers Paradise :P
Rooker1 - Thank you for the kind words :)
I've learned how to do mosics from Iamgoingtoeatyou's tutorial here (http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=147&threadid=88963&enterthread=y).
Also those buildings your asking about are indeed SFBT and can be found here (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&Keyword=andreas%20roth&view=all). Very useful I must say!
This Update is Dedicated to Marius (M4346)
For being a fellow socialist ally and giving me great input on my cities.
Today I'll be going back to the area shown in the second update and be showing more of it. Ive recently begun work on a red square kindof area, and the custom lots for the docks are in the works, so there might not be an update for awhile after this, because I want to make the next two really good :)

Thats it for today :)
EDIT - Die imageshack.
Nice mosaic there Owen, you really used those canals in a great way, by the way, wheres the choppie heading?
Wonderful three new mosaics, Yoman! Great work on these!
Wow....super work on those mosaics. I have always envied the people that make mosaics as I have no idea how to make them. Thanks for the link to Iamgoingtoeatyou's mosaic tutorial. I'm going to give that a try tonight for sure. And that will be my first mosaic ever, and all thanks to you and Iamgoingtoeatyou.
I really like your choice of custom low res. lots along with the canal pieces, they all look great together.
&apls &apls
Robin
very impressive update &apls
I'm especially like the mixing of the older wall to wall building and those concrete housing blocks. It contrasts greatly, but still fits together seamlessly.
Finally, I must warn you of the impending CJ cliché.... 'Excellent Work, keep it up' $%Grinno$%
Great, great work &apls the German housing blocks are maybe too repeative, you could use different buildings to make blocks. 4 same building in the same block is good, but you could have different blocks. I'm also repeative when giving comments. Different blocks. &idea
Wonderful again, enjoying what I see :satisfied:
Nice work Owen! love those large blocks :D they really look sad and worn. and the tenantments fits in really nice, just like those i just blew up in WiC.
Ah, I've been meaning to comment here ever since the update, and that PM of yours notifying me of it. :P
First of all, thank you very much for the great honour. ;D It is indeed of some, if not a lot of, importance and status (methinks) to be mentioned in your MD and, best of all, have an update dedicated to me. $%Grinno$% Know that I aide and add willingly and with a gladdened heart to and in your MD. ;D :D [/pompous arseness] :P
Secondly, what a great update it is indeed! :P I love the general feel and look of this area of Odeshchyna (by the way, I believe it is misspelt - at least from the original rendering and its conception way back - in the title of your MD and the subsequent posts). Now, where's my PSSO Fact Checker's Badge?! ()stsfd() $%Grinno$% :P
Anyway... it looks very Eastern European, a look that you are no doubt going for, and something that you have achieved in such a manner that it is not only consistent with and true to reality, but also in a strange manner, pleasing to the eye. ;)
Finally, and on a bit of a side note, I'm not lotting the Prepo Orthogonal Growable W2Ws anymore, and the test LOTs I sent you are of no use now. I do appreciate your work and effort, however, but also apologise profusely for what I would call, in a nutshell, what has been a waste of your time. :P
You can get the models here now -> Click! (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1242) And accordingly, also, if you so wish, showcase them in your MD (using either my LOTs or your own renditions). ;)
So, thanks for the very pleasing update, and, I do hope to see some more of PSSO soon! ;D
Keep up the great work! &apls &apls
Very nice, i love the City, very nice layout, and use of the Paris Lots
Красная Линия (Latin: Krasnaya Liniya) means Red line, da?
excellent update as always :satisfied: and with this comment, i'm bumping you up to ones to watch, congrats ;)
Wow, amazing mosaics. I especially like the last picture with the brick factories; you manage to mesh it so well with the neighboring residential buildings. Such an eastern european/soviet feeling.
Here's a knife so you can stab Imageshack till it bleeds. ;)
Or change to Photobucket and save yourself some hassle.
I like how everything's been put together. The composition of the buildings are good, but how about a little more variety in the blocks of rowhomes, maybe throw in a few different styles (I know it's Socialist, but still, some variety can't hurt).
I don't know SA, you sound dangerously familiar to propaganda uttered by enemies of the people. :o
You do know what happens with those in a self respecting socialist state ;)
A truly wonderful update. your style is pretty unique, and the way that you take care of detail like paving is really a joy to watch. And it is nice to see that you have managed the art of mosaics.
So where do the Barons of the Politburo Reside?
Strech.
*cough* Baron is such a bourgeois term and is not acceptable in the lingo of the Central Committee. ::)
We shall, instead, refer to the comrades of the Politburo, okay? $%Grinno$%
Oh indeed M. thank you for pointing that out to me. I am so hopelessly Bourgeois myself. &mmm
Stroponians tend to get very nervous around socialists. they fear that their carefully preserved domain of plutocratic imperialism will collaps if socialism ets too popular. however! %confuso
So where are the lavish villa's of the comrades of the Politbureau?....is that better? :D
Strech.
Bourgeois is so last season. ::)
We'll make a socialist revolutionary out of you yet. :P And they live in "humble abodes," not lavish villas. (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsc4devotion.com%2Fforums%2FSmileys%2FJasonSmilies%2Flatigo.gif&hash=7e713fce7d10fbbdd1a6517bf64c4456e3949662)
Maybe we should compile a list of non-kosher and bourgeois terms that may not be used in the vicinity of this MD or any self-respecting socialist, for that matter. The list will include, amongst other equally distasteful terms, words such as lavish, fabulous, extravagant and the likes.
The Politburo works very hard, and they cannot and will not stand accusations of luxuriant living. ;D
Fabulously lavish and extravagant this place is!
:P
You have made some really excellent updates. The way you have made the w2w buildings together with the the more modern flats and with industry and canals, it is looking great. Also all the greens between the buildings and in the streets adds a nice touch to the general atmosphere of this city.
WOW Owen, this is truly AMAZING, something I would truly loved to of based the old Republique du Tient after...A RED SQUARE :angrymore: HAHA I am SOOO PISSED OFF AT YOU NOW lol, but now seriously your mosaics are truly amazing, and although those grey brick buildings show up quite a bit (trust me I know how annoying they can be sometimes ha-ha) they actually look really good and bring out the city even more, a region view of this city would be REALLY neat ;D
I really like the layout of your city. Guess what... you were right! I finally have Paradise Valley rebuilding... and its looking real good.
Thank you for the advice, and keep up with this here city!!
First off let me say your attention to detail makes this a very enjoyable MD to follow.
One question about your streets and roads...It looks like you are using the JRJ street side mod. The one thing I don't like about this modd is the change in sidewalk textures for different wealth zones. In your mosaics it seems that all your sidewalks are the same and do not change to different textures (which makes it look much more realistis). Did you alter the modd to achieve this or are the areas in your mosaics all the same wealth? I love that look and would like to have the same for my Euro style streets.
Nice job with your city and I look forward to your updates!
Replies for the People
Glenni - Its headed to gun down some drug smugglers, no arrests, just some 2/75 inch rockets :P
Bat - Thank you, too bad it wasn't just two mosaics (second two combined into one), you can blame imageshack for that though :P
Robin (Rooker1) - I'm glad I could help you in your quest to learn how to make mosaics, the tutorial was very helpful to me as well :) Thanks for stopping by once again :)
Mijg_Dudy - I'll respond to your cliché with one of my own - glad you liked it, :P. When I built those areas I envisioned those blocks to be ones destroyed by the Germans / Soviets in WWII replaced with new apartments for the homeless, much like what happened in other USSR cities.
Bengt - I would love to use a different wall to wall set, but thats really the only one that fits well :S, the SFBT ones are too nice, and I'm not going to go near the Paris stuff. For my downtown area (based off of Moscow) I am using Prepo stuff though :)
Sebes - Thank you, glad you liked it.
Seb (Xiziz) - Playing on the powerplant map or the Russian Sub base map eh? :P
Marius (M4346) - The PM was just intended so that you saw "your" update, didn't really care if you commented, though I won't lie it was nice :). And you get a fact checker badge of the PSSO, it is indeed Odeshchyna, :P I like my way more though. It takes certain people to love the crappy areas of cities, I find them interesting in real life even :P Glad you think they look true to reality, as that was what I was going for :P Prepo's lots are already around Red Square as you've seen, now I'm just waiting for the growables.
TheGunKid - Not sure if those are Paris lots and yes that means Red Line, Russian translator did it for me :P
Daniel (Iamgoingtoeatyou) - Thank you very much my friend ;D.
Nedalezz - Very glad to see you here as I'm a big fan of your MD :) I figured the people of PSSO would like to live close to their work place anyway :P
Daniel (Shadow Assassin) - I would use Photobucket (and have an account with over 600 pics there) if it supported mosaics like imageshack. Thanks for the knife though. About the rowhomes, I'd love to throw in some different sets, but none really work well. Ive tried the SFBT ones and like I said to Bengt, they're too nice. Thanks for the suggestion though ;D And this knife better work.
Strechnitz - Don't worry, SA will be dealt with promptly ;). I'm not sure how I ever lived without mosaics, I think they add alot and are fun to make. And its funny that you asked about where the Politburo resides, as I just built 3 dachas, one of which will have a small story later, and I know you love stories :P
Marius (II) - Here is some medal to add to your fact checker badge for defending the Politburo!
Strechnitz - Now I'll have to help the socialist insurgency in Stropon :P Lavish, what rubbish :P
Marius (III) - Heres another medal :P
Kwakelaar - Thank you, as I said to Mijg_Dudy I'm trying to recreate Soviet styling housing built after the destruction of the second world war.
Luke (Amerikaner) - Why are you pissed, every self respecting socialist nation needs a big parade square :P Those grey buildings intentionally show up alot :P And I'll show you, and just you a region view on MSN, its far from done :P
Kevin (Simplmn9) - Sorry for leaving this blank, I have no clue why I did. I'm glad you've gotten back on your feet sc4 wise and its great that things are looking good :)
Kestner34 - Im glad I was able to help you with that PM and look forward to a future visit, as well as your MD :)
Today is the beginning of a series of Port Updates, based off of the port facilities of Odessa. Finally I finished the first part. Unfortuatley don't expect the rest of it for awhile as I have to do about 200 + relots, should be fun ;D
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg150.imageshack.us%2Fimg150%2F273%2Fmosaic9py6.jpg&hash=f3e75e1b7f0c66b692d60228e3517437cea35bb6)
The restricted access fishing harbour area. Only residents and fishers can gain access to this area as Odessa's fish market depends upon it. Every morning the fleets leave at about 4:00 AM and come back around 7:00 PM to offload their catch to the processing facilites of the area. Apparently today was a holiday as all the boats were in during the day. Or maybe it was a strike, bah, don't be silly :P
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg228.imageshack.us%2Fimg228%2F4337%2Fmosaic10ll8.jpg&hash=8139b96f5c2dfc16c91d77d770e48df056c3f51a)
Here we can see a bulker being loaded up for a trip to god knows where, possibly the bottom of the Strait of Kerch if those storms keep up &mmm. At the bottom of the picture is a nice tenement where the fishers live, overlooking their boats (well not their boats exactly :P The people's boats) in the harbor. Glad to have the day off I guess (I would too if you had to go into a storm that broke a tanker in two in one of those little dinky things :P).
Ok all done ;D
your city looks fantastic i love all the industriaL lots
can you tell me what kind of seawals are that i mean the one without the railing
another excellent update as always! i love the fact that you don't resize your pictures, making them big and revealing tons of details. i enjoy passing the time, looking at your mosaics, i noticed a bunch of details on bats, streets, and city building that i would have never noticed otherwise. great work  &apls
Beautiful waterfront, great work! &apls
However... no reply to my comment??? ()what()
Its blank...
Awesome work, yoman!
The photoshopping is nice and subtle, everything is well laid out, all in all, it looks fantastic.
Looking forward to seeing more!
Wonderful looking mosaics of the harbor area!
Those have to be two of the finest mosiacs I have ever seen! Seriously, very very impressive. I still havent gotten the hang of making mosiac...maybe you can make a small tutorial.
Anyway, a fantastic update, and that harbor is unbelievable...very realistic. Great stuff.
Looks excellent Owen! the rest will be in for a treat with the up and coming of your harbour :P
Keep it up mate!
The harbour is stunning, truly unique. I have yet to use those seawalls but this has spurred me on.
Wonderful mosaic, fantastic work Owen. :satisfied:
HAHA I am excited to see that region view, yeah I have seen them in a region view before (one of my shitty CJ's I downloaded them) they looked nice from region but were a little annoying to myself ;D, anyway I am officially in LOVE with PSSO that harbor is looking quite amazing and the way you put it together looks very realistic. 200 relots WOW that sounds like fun considering that the most I have done is like um 5 &sly...haha.
I really like your port. It suits its purpose: a large fishing port. I wouldn't mind an overview when it's done. :P
Another wonderful Update. The attention to detail is execellent, if only I could build cities like this. :'(
Alright. I'll take lavish back. LOL
How do the comrades of the politburo live in their austere and modest way? :D
Oh and for a socialist insurgency in Stropon you have come at the right time too. It is becoming a little volatile there. ;D
But back to Odeschyna. Great harbour. I haven't seen anything like it in terms of combinging these elements.
And it is good to see that your people don't use those enormous trawlers destroying seabeds and sealife.
Strech.
WoW Yoman i missed alot here and i got caught up at least but anywho, some mighty fine stuff going on in here and i just loved the port area, great job and see you soon - pat
Replies for the People
Squidi - I call them waffle walls, but they're really a set of Japanese walls that Xiziz and I have completely remodded and reloted. I would provide the download link, but when I got them someone provided it to me so I can't sorry :(
Daniel (iamgoingtoeatyou) - Thanks, yeah, I like close in shots alot more than zoomed out ones. You can see alot more of the city.
Kevin (SIMplMn9) - Haha, sorry about that, as I told you its been fixed. Thanks you for the kind words.
Mulefisk - I just recently learned (like about a week before I started this MD) how much the brightness and contrast option can improve your pictures. Thank you.
Bat - Thank you ;D
nedalezz - Thank you for the very kind words, and about the tutorial, I don't have to make one, as I learned off one that I'll give you the link for ;D Here you go. (http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=36&threadid=94214&STARTPAGE=1)
Seb (Xiziz) - If we ever finish those BATs :P Though we are making good progress.
Emperor Stormont - Thanks
Luke (Amerikaner) - Yeah, about 200 lots plus 7 BATs at the moment ;D
Daniel (Shadow Assassin) - Key word...when its done, though I can show you an undone one on MSN.
Mjig_dudy - Ah but you can, your cities are stunning, equally as stunning as those BATs you make ;D
Strechnitz - They live in dachas when they need to clear their minds, and some modest apartments while in the capital. Oh and we use the gigantic trawlers, they're just moored in another area of the harbor, come now since when do socialists have reguard for seabeds and life :P
Pat - Thank you Pat, I look forward to seeing you again.
Due to the fact that I'm still working on several BATs for the port area, some of which can be viewed here [Linky] (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=2996.msg93244#new), I really haven't had much time to play Sim City. I finally got some today as I didn't feel like BATing and Xiziz was texturing the models. So I built something close to the port area. Очистительный завод Свободы, or Freedom Refinery.
Очистительный завод Свободы is the largest refinery in Odeschyna and before 1988, the year of PSSO's independence, the largest refinery in the south western Soviet Union. The refinery is vital to the PSSO's economy, as it supplies much hard currency from refining oils shipped in from Novorossiysk, Russia. After being refined it is shipped through pipeline to Ukraine and the Balkans, or shipped via tanker to Turkey, Krim, and Italy. The refinery currently produces an astounding 550,000 barrels per day, which more than satisfies Odeschyna's own needs. The refinery is located in the northern section of Odessa next to the main oil terminal.

Sorry about the small size of the update, but I promise the rest of the port updates will be big with custom BATs and lots ;D
Great work on the refinery, Yoman! Looking forward to more...
what a huge raffenery &apls &apls &apls
im looking forward to your update
squidi
Again some excellent work being done here. The oil refinery looks very good, and I can't wait until you get the new harbour pieces going.
incredible refinery owen, all the small lot details are excellent, the photo editing also looks great
The last two updates were great.
I love the restricted boat access and the refinery is just awesome!!
Excellent stuff. As always. &apls
It's interesting to see how the level of detail keeps increasing with each new update. At this point I feel that I have to ask: is any of that stuff grown (knowing that you prefer growing your cities, but the level of control over the lots suggest otherwise ;D) ?
If it is indeed grown it must have been a real pain growing the right stuff.
You should post bigger updates, you know. :P
The oil refinery looks good (well, I don't know what a real one should look like, so meh), it's a chaotic mess with that typical Socialist orderness added.
ohh yeah pure capitalism..... :P j/k
great work, i really like the layout of the oil refinery field.
Nice work here Comrade Owen!
those are awesome massive refineries...i like the pipes...where did you get that? anyway -- great work!
That refinery is stunning! &apls
That surpasses many industrial complexes seen on any forum. exquisite!
Quotecome now since when do socialists have reguard for seabeds and life
Ah! such soothing words. you know. I fear that a true socialist may consider it as an offense. Espescialy coming from such a twisted and corrupt Imperialist like me, but, you almost sound like a true Stroponian! lol
I also fear that a selfrespecting socialist regime does not care to have diplomatic ties with the last hopelesly backward, Bourgeous Empire. But shal we start with establishing a mutual trade pact in the meantime? We would love to take some raw materials like your oil of your hands. For a reasonable price of course. well what do you say my Lord? ehrr I mean Comrade? ;)
Strech.
Great work. :)
Replies for the People
Bat - Thank you yet again ;D
Squidi - Thank you, this time its bigger than normal :D
kwakelaar - well I've gotten one of them going, and being impatient I couldn't wait for my smaller gantry crane so i went ahead and built my port. I'll work on some more generic custom lots later to fill out the rest of the harbor as well as a few more BATs.
Daniel (Iamgoingtoeatyou) - Thank you, those lots bugged me forever :angrymore: but I finally got them all to work.
tkirch - Thank you, that first harbor updates is one of my favorites, glad you liked it also
Emilin - Depends which images you are talking about, almost all of the wall to wall and tenements are grown (if something just won't grow I'll plop though). Most of the industry (all really) is ploped though. Its about a 75% Grown 25% plopped mix in the zoned areas, in the rest its plopped :P And yes, sometimes I hate growing things, but I like the result growing more than plopping ;D You might especially like this update btw.
Daniel (Shadow Assassin) - Yeah, I don't know what one looks like either. All the pipes lead to somewhere though :P
Simrabbit123 - Bah, capitalism &hlp Thank you for the comment though imperialist :P
Seb (Xiziz) - Thank ye ()stsfd()
Suplado - The pipes are part of Nob's water set that you can find on his site. I've relotted them though. Glad to see you here considering Im a big fan of your CJ/MD.
Strechnitz - Well both Socialists and Capitalists think of growth, socialists just think about everyone, not just themselves :P Hope ye got my PM all right?
Emperor Stormont - Thanks.
This Update Dedicated to Robin (rooker1), Adam (Ennedi), & Emilin
For their support, ideas, and imput on the SMPPRP (SMP Port Realism Project)
The first of those ports BATs can be viewed in this upcoming update, I was too impatient to wait for the smaller gantry crane and decided to deal without them, looks okay anyway (well at least I think so). I'm begining to get more time to play Sim City and it should culminate in alot of time over the Holidays, so I hope to produce some more regular updates. If anyone reads the first post again and remembers what the independance day was last time, well I keep moving it back so that I can do a parade, and now that the area around where the parade would take place is complete, all that needs to be done is to render all those tank models and lot em. So expect that I hope. Okay, I'll shut up now and onto the update!
First we see the Контейнерный Терминал, or Container Terminal, of the Порт Одессы, or Port of Odessa. This terminal handles 1.2 million TEU units every year. The berth can dock two 350 m ships at the same time and has a minimum depth of 15 m, so any Container ship can dock here. The two Gantry Cranes serving the terminal are named Khrushchev & Andropov, after former CCCP Premiers. The latter being responsible for the expansion of the role of the Port of Odessa. After the containers are lifted off the ship they are taken via truck to their final destination, or the intermodel facility across the quay. At the inter model facility up to two 1000 m long trains can be loaded at any time to be ready to depart for destinations all over the PSSO and beyond. While a major part of the Port of Odessa, the container terminal is not the largest handler of cargo.

Being a former Soviet Port, I just had to have a wrecked ship :P
This next mosaic is of the Центральный Район, or Central District. This district is centered around Duc de Richelieu Square. Duc de Richelieu is the man who is credited with taking Odessa from a small city and making it a premier location of the world. The Square was also the site of the massacre of patriots (rebels) by the Tsar's troops in 1905, though Sergei Eisenstein's famous movie The Battleship Potemkin potrays the massacre as occurring on the Odessa (Potemkin) Steps.

Thats it for today, I hope you enjoyed that ;D.
lmao, nice floating abandoned ship owen ;) just kidding :P the update was great, 3 amazing mosaics as always :) my favorite is obviously the last one, love the use of prepo's new lots, a very unique looking city since i haven't seen them used very much yet. great job :)
Nice work! I especially like the "nice" district, as you called it. In all seriousness, everything fits together extremely well, the use of prepo's diagonals really add that extra touch of variety to an area that would otherwise be quite griddy.
Fantastic looking port there! Wonderful mosaics of it! And also nice looking central district!!
Great work!
That is one mighty fine looking harbour Yoman!
And yes, I did receive your PM and have answered it. :)
Strechnitz.
Awesome work Owen. The harbour look very well put together. I am very jealous. I haven't had as much time as I wish to, to work on my own. &mmm
Your use of daigonal buildings in the city looks very good as well.
&apls &apls
Robin
This is almost too cool. The port looks fantastic! &apls
Once again - the level of detail is stunning. I sincerly hope they move those oil barrels before it trips over the crane. ;D
Port looks great as does the town, not so sure about the wrecked ship though.
The level of details in your container terminal is simply amazing - one of the best I've ever same Comrade Yoman. The wrecked ship is giving it a very special touch... very commy!
The housing area in the central district area of Odessa is also very sexy ;)
Prepo's diagonal buildings really add a touch to the citycentre, still think the Broadtech building dosnt really fit into the scene :P
Next your going to connect this up i hope(me has seen overviewsm you needs it!).
We really need to fix that crane up though, do i smell an automata mod...
Good heavens Owen. You deserve these: &apls &apls &apls &apls &apls.
Love you works pal. I just made it from page 1 to page 5, still starstruck
EDIT: I'm not sure if it was done by mistake or not, but you posted twice in a row, so I deleted the second one, since it didn't say anything that could not be said here. -Dustin (thundercrack83)
GREAT PICTURES.
The flying boat is funny.
I love the mosaic with the ship, it really stands out and looks great
Welcome to the Best Sellers, my friend! You're doing a fantastic job here, and it's my pleasure to move you on up!
Take care!
Dustin
awesome port!! huge and looks really busy...i love those new cranes!! amazing update!! &apls

Daniel (Iamgoingtoeatyou) - Bah, its possible to still be floating ?$%kar&%h Well this update contains nothing but that central area, so I hope ye like it.
Daniel (Shadow Assassin) - Took your advice and am doing triple mosaic updates now instead of double ;D I do like mixing it up with those diagonals, keeps the dense feeling going but doesn't make it gridy.
Bat - Thank you :)
Strechnitz - In response to your question about the humble housing of the hard working Politburo, I've thrown in a mosaic centered around those humble apartments ;D As always looking forward to doing business with you imperialists in Stropon :P
Robin (rooker1) - Theres a LOD error in the crane I sent ya, so I'll send ya the fixed copy soon enough. Hope ye get some time, as I'd love to see what someone else does with it.
Emilin - I really appreciate the praise as it comes from the Port masta. And the oil barrels won't trip the crane, as it is built sturdy by socialists :P
Emperor Stormont - thanks
Sebes - I was myself surprised at the fact that there were so many wrecked ships in Russian harbors, I mean there were ALOT. Thank you for the kind words ()stsfd()
Seb (Xiziz) - Thank ye for the texturing on that crane, though we still gotta LOD the damn thing correct.
Marvin (infinitum19) - Thank you for your very kind words my friend, glad you liked the trip through the MD.
tkirch - Alright, seems that you and alot of people think the boat looks flying, gotta fix that :P Thank you for the kind words and the 100th comment, whoo! %BUd%
thundercrack83 - Thank you for the welcome. I'll be happy to see that PSSO is in the best sellers section of your wonderful statistics now also :satisfied:
suplado - Thank you very much.
Whoo Best Sellers %BUd%
Thank you everyone for your continued support.
Now onto the update!
Today we will be taking a look at the humble accommodations of the hard working Politburo that are running the country. We'll also get a first glimpse at Duc de Richelieu Square. Where in an upcoming update I'll show you the powerful Main Battle Tanks of the PSSO army rolling through on Parade, who doesn't like parades eh?
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg265.imageshack.us%2Fimg265%2F4607%2Fmosaic17at7.jpg&hash=1513addb1d0198d807be63443ad3aaff0b76ab9c)
First up is Народный Радиовещательный Центр, or The People's Broadcasting Center. From here the un-biased news, talk shows, music, and other radio programs of Odessa are broadcasted over the airwaves. Interestingly enough the people of Odessa love Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Iron Maiden, and a host of other western rockbands (I do too :P). The People's Socialist Party of Odeschyna's radio station is based here as well. In the lower left area you can view the Белый дом, or White House, the center of Government that overlooks the Square. (Please note that this is not a reference to the American White House, but the Russian White house that is in the Kremlin Compound).
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg265.imageshack.us%2Fimg265%2F2959%2Fmosaic16ir7.jpg&hash=bff151088bd7508f40e934327aa697628db102fe)
Here we can view the Башни Политбюро, or Politburo Towers. These are the humble accommodations of the politburo. Each apartment spanning two floors. Every morning between 7:00 - 9:00 AM the route to the White House is closed to public traffic, only the motorcades of the Politburo, military, and militia (name of the police force) automobiles and transports may drive over the route. It is not however closed at night, as most members of the Politburo return home at different times. Security is tight around the two towers, and we can see this in the precence of parked row of military transports at the base of the towers.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg519.imageshack.us%2Fimg519%2F8198%2Fmosaic18dq8.jpg&hash=dd02a968067dd76ea1479db48727dc7918d3cd48)
And here it is, Duc de Richelieu Square. The square is the site of most May Day and Revolution Day parades. The parade route and square is closed to civilian traffic for two days before the parade as preparations are made. Overlooking the square is the White House, the center of Government. On the opposite side just out of view of the image is the Odessa Theater and the Odessa GLUMP Department store. This square is the center of the city.
Ok, thats all for today, hope ye enjoyed it.
Ugh, Your people have a horrible taste in music ()sad() I'm quite a fan of the Duc de Richelieu Square though, It looks fantastic! Grand and filled with crowds :) Very nice governmental house aswell, It looks very good in your area along with Prepo's diagonals. Very nice work :)
cool update was wondering if youre ever going to release those seaport cranes in the last page ;)
Hello Yoman. This last update really caught my eye. I don't play with European themed cities but I really liked looking at your pictures because they are so well done. What are you planning to do with the large cement plaza? Looks like it would be a perfect spot for a fall Octoberfest.
Another wonderful update there! Wonderful pictures, too! And great work on that area of your city!
Super update my friend.
Strange that you say there is a LOD error in the crane, I haven't noticed anything yet. Although I am at the closest zooms and mostly in LE. Anyways, I await the new copy. And just to let you know I have three loots completley done. A left and a right corner pier lot, at 7x10 and a land lot at 10x6. This is all for the container port and they have been modded with PIM_X. ;) ()stsfd() I have 16 more lots to go. :'( Good news is that I now have all my biuldings and props picked out so the rest won't take as long to make. I hope you finish your props soon and upload them as a prop pack so that I could possible upload mine lots someday. ;) God willing of course.
As for your update, it was awesome. Great use of the diagonal lots and I like that very large and open plaza.
I can't wait to see what you have for us next.
Robin
amazing update -- very colorful pics!! really like the use of the diagonal road and buildings...really blends well!!
Niice! ;)
Hello Owen,
You are a master, great couple of buildings, everything blends very well, these finnish buildings add a lot to the specific atmosphere of this city
I love your closeups, their quality is perfect, and everything is very well arranged - sidewalks, backyards and open spaces.
Looking at your city I can say the Odeschyna version of socialism is quite efficient - everything look very well-ordered, clean, buildings are freshly painted and colourful ;) There are a lot of cars on streets (good sign) and looking at the picture with Politburo Towers (near the top of it at the left side) you can see a pink muscle-car, I suppose these are kids of Politburo officials spending their free time :D
I think the government here says a lot about socialism, but in fact everybody simply do their own business, and it's a good direction especially if they like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd :D
Socialism or not, I'm sure this city simply has a very good Mayor!
Всего хорошего товарйщ!
I finally have some time to reply, and my internet slows down to a grind(so i cant view pictures, and ive got sc4d in text-only mode somehow O_o), sister is pulling some fancy new yankee sitcom off the web right after coming home, going to Malta tonight and im gonna see if i can connect up and check out your next update soon enough.
Love the diagonals, there just so nicly done! Love the location of this area to, ontop of the hill(though i guess not many would know atm ^___^ seeing as ive seen the overview). Nice little historical core of the city, obviously ww2 didnt destroy as much of Odessa as Sevastopol in our timeline XD
Fine update, but the concrete base texture isn't suitable for everywhere espically when building historical city like yours.
lovely update ands great use of diagonals too.
I'm glad to see your people have such a good taste in music. $%Grinno$%
WOW Yoman i love the use of the Diagnels!!!
Thought I already commented on this?
In any case, I like it. :P It's very clean, and really suits the area.
Your city is very realistic, I really like socialist's style in SC4
The king of Harbors and Mosaics! Your updates are always incredible to look at, eye-candy like no other. The Fursan Seaport is under construction, with the final goods still waiting to be delivered from PSSO (no rush, seriously). You have a great eye for detail, and it shows in your picture taking. Great update.
Wow! I just read through the whole thing... I'm liking what I'm seeing! You seem to be able to make all the BATs and Lots melt into each other and create a feeling for the area. Love it!
&apls &apls
These Mosaics are wonderful! &apls
I love the way you blen in Prepo's buildings in your city. great whitehouse and square.
First thing in the new year will be a request for diplomatic ties between Odeschyna and Stropon. Lets built bridges of understanding between Austere Socialism and jellybellied Imperialism! :D
Strech.
very nice...it has been awhile since I've stopped by, but your cities have a great coordination to them...kudos.
nice mosaicS, prepo buildings ,a s others said, are wonderfully used to get that "Estern european" feeling ! The concrete texture isn't that bad, specialy in a socialist states (they don't care about urban space ^^) ! Want to see more !!!!
Some very beautiful mosaics you have made from the centre of the city. As the rest have been saying great use of Prepo's w2w and I see some of the older BSC w2w, Haarlemmergold and SFBT mixed in, also the streets and squares have a lot of life which is nice to see.
I haven´t been in here before, but I wish to congratulate You on some very goodlooking scenes.
At first I thought this would just be another run of the mill socialist MD, but as I read through the updates I quickly learned otherwise.
If You have grown all this it must have taken a very long time and great effort to control the growth which goes to show how serious You are about this project.
I look forward to reading future updates and get some inspiration for my own projects.
Keep up the good work!
Replies for the People
Daniel (Iamgoingtoeatyou) - Bah, you have horrid taste in music, my people have incredible taste in music :P Too bad your a fan of the square also, in the new version of the city its gone :P
Ryan (filasimo) - I'll release those and the one I'm working on currently in time, want them to be as good as possible (hate the old one now also though :P).
jmyers2043 - Always great to see newcomers, thank you for the compliments and the great idea. After I read that comment I went and checked through my props in LE and now I have a little something planned
Bat - Thank you my friend!
Robin (rooker1) - Well most of your message is irrelevant now :P Would like to say that your lots (the ones presented in your MD) were a great showcase for my old (crappy) crane. Can't wait to have ye test the new one!
suplado! - Thank you very much :)
BoKriF - Sometimes one word comments are more than one word ::)
Adam (Ennedi) - Well everyone has to like Pink Floyd and Zeppelin, your shot if you don't :P Sorry to say that there are darker sides to PSSO also, which you will see in this update. And the abundance of cars is due to a mistake by the minister of transport when he installed the new NAM :P
Sebastian (Xiziz) - Thank you my good friend, if ye see this you'll be in the Navy by now. Have fun on the Visby and don't blow up any beached whiskeys before ye take piccies for me $%Grinno$%
Krio - I must agree with you there and on my new central district it has been changed to something more.....historical :P
mjig_dudy - Only the best music for my citizens
Pat - Thank ye.
Daniel (Shadow Assassin) - Eww....cleanliness :S Gotta fix that in the future $%Grinno$%
sauron620 - Thank you ()stsfd()
nedalezz - Jeeze, I feel terrible about the delay in those Props, I can't even begin to think of shipping them out in a crappy state though! Thanks for the really encouraging compliments though, means alot.
Owen (Owen Luby) - Feels like I'm answering myself here :P Thank you for your awesome compliments my friend!
Strechnitz - Thank you my capitalist foe, may those bridges be strong (though rigged with demolition charges just incase :P)
Yoder7652 - Great words to hear from a master of the BAT and Euro city building (and LE). Thank you ;D
nova vesfalo - Thank you, but I think I should refrain from using that texture EVERYwhere. Glad to know that some people like it though.
kwakelaar - Yes, all incredible BATs and I love all of them. Too bad the I never showed the areas with your awesome BATs in them :(
Swesim - Thank you, those are some very inspirational words that just reinforce my will to continue working on this project no matter how much I hate the cities sometimes. Its comments like these that inspired me to restart instead of just throwing in the towel ;D
This Update Is Purely About the NY Giants
Even though it has nothing to do with them whatsoever. We all know that they are going to win the Superbowl and kick some Patriot @$$ :P
Running late today, so no explanation. Just some new images of some of the nice suburbs around the newly restarted (in a much better fashsion) Odessa. Hope you enjoy, and just so you know nearly everything in these pictures have been relotted, all thanks to inspiration from Badsim, thanks Badsim

EDIT - Look at these incredible shots of the real Odessa I found! Linky (http://www.panoramio.com/user/1201508)
Very gangster :satisfied:
Very great area there! Wonderful work on that!
Wonderful work ...
Looks like real Soviet city ...
Good luck ! &apls &apls &apls
fantastic new pictures
i like all the trash and other small props you put around the small houses
with the trees you have to be more carefull :)
and you should think about making some fences around the rails if you like it
i will be there to look what you have to show us next
Wonderful!
Very nice blending between custom rail pieces and ingame rails at the end of the first mosaic, by the way. That is one of the things I have been struggling with myself lately. Mind giving us a quick rundown of what mods and lots were used for that? ;D
Very grimmy city.....I love it. Great job on those LOTs. I think there maybe too many buildings. A very dense maze of those low wealth houses would look fantastic, IMO of course. ()stsfd()
As for my last reply, maybe irrelevant now, but I am still waiting my friend, for the new crane. How are things going on that front. ;)
Robin
Magnificent update, Yoman! I love the park in between the split avenue, it looks amazing! Keep up the good work, my friend!
Great update owen, Your custom lotting is especially fantastic!! ;D
I am liking the update...
Thanks Badsim ;D
Absolutely stunning! Amazing! ()stsfd()
wow ! stunning ! so realistic !!
Must be dreadful to live in those shacks in the shadows of teh hi-rise buildings $%#Ninj2
that it realism!! splendid mosaic &apls
Wii! You've been busy the last two weeks! looks great. hope Ill be able to catch you on jabber soon enough. would be nice to have a chat before i go back tomorrow. looks like im gonna be back every weekend, il get get transfered to my ship week20, should be allowed to have a tour before that though.
Quite some time since I last updated in your great socialist MD Yoman. I loved being here again today. The last mosaïc is awesome, but the picture from the Duc the Richelieu square shown a few pages back is absolutely marvelous. I think my city will get a Duc The Richelieu Rijlaan named after that
Beautiful work as usual Yoman!
It´s nice to see You haven´t given up on this in spite of all other projects You have going.
I am interested in how You got the SFBT catenary poles to plop on the rails without a lot on the side of the track for the "single" track if You understand what I mean.
I recently downloaded the SFBT mod but was a bit annoyed by the fact that it required a tile beside the track to be free.
This could have been ok if it was possible to plop trees on them like frogface´s mod, but now it looks plain ugly in urban areas...
Keep up the good work on this wonderful MD though!
Replies for the People
Daniel (Imgonnaeatya) - Not really, as this is Ukraine, not Harlem :P
Bat - Thank you ;D
Silur - Something great to hear from someone living in Russia
squidi - In LE those trees didn't go through the houses, but when put right next to each other the trees go off the lot and onto the next going through the houses, aww well, just imagine that they forgot to chop down the tree before they built the shack :P And I'll look into those rail fences, I think a TE lot could work nicely.
Emilin - Thanks for your input as always. As for your question I've used the standard rail (dur :P), relotted SFBT cantenaries, and some rail yards available at STEX by north_county_dude. Hope this helps, least I can do to repay you for those regional runner trains you can see in this update.
Robin (rooker1) - Well ye got the crane, now do something with it (or make more jokes $%Grinno$%). Maybe there are a bit too many buildings, but then I would have to lot some more fillers, and I'm sick of LE at the moment :P
Thundercrack83 - Thank you, glad to hear you like that as an avenue median, I wasn't sure how it looked.
Glenni - Thank you, those lots wouldn't have looked so good without your cars ;)
Kevin (SIMplMn9) - Glad you are
Krio - Yeah, I think we all have to thank him a ton, not only for producing that incredible journal, but also for inspiring me and some others to make their own MDs more special.
M4346 - Glad to see you around Marius. Thanks for the compliment, and have fun tutoring!
Antoine - Thank you, also for those cranes in your prop pack :)
Krbe - Indeed, doubt there are even floors in them &mmm
warconstruct - thank you ::)
Seb (Xiziz) - Glad to see your on top of things, though we haven't had much luck talking in the past three weeks, you were away the first two and I was having a god awful travel experience the third. Be sure to take some photos eventually (just don't get shot).
sebes - Your always welcome in PSSO, and Im looking forward to seeing Duc The Richelieu Rijlaan
Swesim - Just need your email and I can send those lots on over (unless I already did, vacation screwed me up). :P------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once again Badsim has inspired me in this update, also emilin, who has taken after Badsim also. Also everyone who helped while I was lotting all this crap. Sorry about the time between updates also, have a bunch of projects going on (and David is gonna dump another on my lap soon with my 3RR quad). Also had a horrid travel experience Friday-Saturday as some of you know. Well anyway this update is centered around my relotted version of Nob's Hiroshima Station (I've converted it into a terminus). For the most part this is accurate to real life (general layout, placement of important things). Now onto the pictures, oh, and ignore the huge traffic accidents %wrd.

Can anyone spot the German Panther Tank (hint, its in the market somewhere). I guess it was captured by the Red Army in World War II or something.

Owen, That Park is amazing.

Yes, great new mosaics and pictures there!
Great work on that city, Yoman!
Wow.......
That was am amazing update. It looks like you are becoming very profecient with LE. Your LOTs look awesome and very well planned. The level of detail is perfect. I love the market, I'm just speechless.

Fantastic!!! &apls &apls &apls
It's a bit hard for me to find apropriate words to explain what I like here. The harsh, "Soviet" climate is not overdone, but it increases the realism of your city views. In fact, these pictures are much more realistic than most other ones, showing more modern and rich buildings, colourful parks and other such stuff. Your sidewalks look excellent, trees fits perfect both at streets and in parks, and your space planning is fantastic!
My favourites: two last pictures and the whole surrounding of the Hiroshima Station (e4specially the market and the park).
Btw, thanks for the crane!
Adam
Yoman I loved the Market Place and the Train Depot and also the park there!!! Great update and will see you soon
Another fabulous update, my friend! That train station is simply spectacular!
Keep up the good work!
Dustin
Wow, wondefull.
It's very beautiful. &apls
you must really spend of time on the LOT, as Badsim.
I agree with Glenni &apls this time I had hard time to find "faults" from your update and I misused that time because there are no mistakes! Perfect! What building are you using as trainstation?

I'm using a really extensively relotted (its not a terminus originally :P) version of Nobs Hiroshima Station (http://hide-inoki.com/~nob/lot_station.htm), with a few custom boxes to make it a terminus correctly.
Well, what can I say that hasn't already been said? I absolutely love the new pictures. The level of detail is nothing short of spectacular.
I can't wait for your next update. Well done! &apls
Amazing update Yoman! The atmosphere in the pictures is one of a very pleasant city to live in. This is truly a Peoples Paradise!
Congratulations, Yoman!

Thank you guys, I'm very glad to be part of this group of 5 MDs for March ;D and I'll do my best to make this a month of activity.
Ah - and see: the People have rewarded you!
The State of Odeschyna obviously has the People it deserves ;)
And I look forward to this month Yoman!!! Congrats on your award Sir!!!
Also looking forward to this month! And Congrats on your award, too, Yoman! &apls
Well earned Yoman! Congratulations. &apls
Some really awesome work here. This CJ is getting better and better by every page.
I think it's fantastic that you take the time to lot everything you use. It really gives your cities a unique and atmospheric look.
Oh, and congrats on the award. Well deserved.
Congratulations on the well deserved award! &apls
The latest update is fantastic. The use of NOB:s Hiroshima station is spectacular - Wow!
One thing that was pointed out to me was the need for curbs between the parked cars and sidewalks - and I think that you should probably look into that too. There is a prop called "concrete curb" that is fairly discrete but still seperates the cars from the pedestrians.
Oh, and I have a question too - there is one train prop I haven't seen before (the two red old looking engine cars). Please tell us what that is and where you found it?
Replies for the People
Glenni - Being compared with such incredible MDists like them feels really great, alot of these lots wouldn't have been as good without your props either ;)
squidi - Thank you!
TheSixCents - Thanks Chris.
Bat - Glad you still like the MD Bat!
Robin - Thanks my friend, I'm starting to get the hang of it quite well now, its a matter of knowing prop packs well, I used to have to look at everything to find what I wanted, now I know what pack and what prop for certain things I need.
Warconstruct - thank you for your kind words there, its really nice to hear that the LE time isn't going to waste.
Adam - Thanks Adam, Im really glad you liked it. What I did for this update was conduct a ton of research on Odessa, and find the closet possible buildings. Then I mixed it with Badsim style LEing, and a few soviet props from Glenni, and tada! I love that market also, have plans for a fishing one on one of the piers in the harbor, which will be much more lively than my past attempt.
Pat - Thanks Pat, I'm happy to hear you liked the park, as I wasn't sure it was the greatest lot.
Thundercrack - Hello Dustin, thanks for your continuous support here and I'm glad you liked the piccies
Earthquake - I spend a fair amount of time in LE, but probably nothing near the amount Badsim spends, his lots are just so much more unique and detailed (alot of my lots are recycled).
Krio - Well there are a few faults, such as the traffic, and some lack of diversity in the lots, but I'm glad you, who has a skill for finding and pointing out faults (which helps me fix later) hasn't found any ;D
Bigberta - Hello, always glad to see a new face around here, especially if you liked the update :satisfied:
Sebes - Well this area is certainly quite nice, not sure about the area in the update before, still wouldn't want to live there :P
Dustin - Woah!!! Thanks!
Adam - Thanks for the congrats my friend.
Sebes - Always nice to have a reward after a long day of hard work sitting in a nice office after being driven to work in a limo....err I mean laboring for the people :P
Pat - Thank you for the congrats as well. :)
Bat - Wow, tons of congrats from people, but everyone makes it even better, thank you! ;)
FrankU - Thank you, unfortunately this will force the Port Project to collect dust webs until April :P
Mulefisk - Another new face, I'm really glad you've enjoyed your visit. Those stairs will also be featured in the update after this one, which is planned for Thursday.
Emilin - Glad to see you around. Great to hear some advice for the lots also, I'll certainly look into that prop, is it Maxis or part of a prop pack (though I have almost every one known to man now :P). And for your question about the train prop, you seem to be the only one that noticed. Before you kindly converted the region runners and I discovered Nob's train props, I feared that I would have to BAT all my trains, as I couldn't find any props. This is the result, it is my own model of a Soviet VL10 engine. (http://www.trainzitaliafoto.com/data/836/medium/3VL10_polonia.jpg) A pretty bad one if you ask me :P
------------------------------------------------------
This update will the first one lacking any mosaics at all, also the first one outside of the game (technical). While Adam (ennedi) and I were PMing each other about something, I asked as a side note if he'd be interested in the LE shots of all the lots featured in the last update. And so I will have an LE shot of every single lot from the last one, well any one extra that some of you may have already seen in the Show us your W2W thread (it features one of the most prominent landmarks in Odessa). Anyway enjoy, and questions are more than welcome!(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi38.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe130%2Fyoman3%2FOdessaTerminusPark.jpg&hash=18479f37fef3dd4674f499169f230c7ab6b42401)

That last lot will be the center of the next update, as I said in Mulefisk's reply which is set to go on Thursday. And by the way, thank you to all the staff for selecting the PSSO as a part of OSITM, the party is pleased ;) They threw a party!(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi38.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe130%2Fyoman3%2FPartyFindYou.jpg&hash=43dc7cf50fa09267d6d1314a67bf1020f01b4d02)
And remember, In Soviet Russia, Party Find You!
And also, to give Odeschyna even more of that authentic Soviet feel. We've been working on rendering EVEN MORE props to spice up the streets, countryside, plazas and so on.

Hello,
I never had the chance to congratulate you for getting into SIOTM. Very well deserved my friend.
This update is especially interesting for me. I love this new phase that people are starting to show. Showing pics from LE. It just goes to show how much work is involved in making a LOT.
Cant wait to see what you have for us next.
Robin &apls
That's a great work on the LE there! Looking wonderful!
Also looking forward to more in this month!
Congrats on the well deserved OSITM my friend!
And great work with the LE! I just don't understand why you turned one of the few big through station into a terminus - as the most big stations available are terminus stations.
Take care (and don't forget to make backups!
Bernhard
Wonderful work in the LE, my friend! And I'm pleased to hear that the party had party to celebrate your time in the OSITM! Can't wait to see more of your work!
Dustin
Great L.E work, Owen! Congrats on your award.
This Party poster is printed and on my fridge... I love it :satisfied:
First congrats for OSITM it`s well deserved &apls &apls And &apls &apls &apls for your great mosaics and &apls &apls &apls for your work on the LE . Badsim get some competition now ;D and &apls &apls &apls &apls for the overall work that you show
WoW Yoman those lots have turned out really nice and Glenni you made some wonderful props there!!! Also Yoman do you plan on releasing some of them wonderful parks and other lots by a chance?
Loving the PSSO.
QuoteRemember, In Soviet Russia, Page Links You!
QuoteRemember, In Soviet Russia, Party Finds You!
:D
awesome work there, your lotting is stunning and inspiring.
Again fantastic work! &apls
These LE shots are excellent, everything fits very well
Yes, the rail station is great, w2w lots too, but one of my favourites is the park, these lots are one of the most realistic I have ever seen!
Looking at these pictures I'm afraid a bit about my future LE adventures, it seems it needs an extreme patience :D
I think I will have a few questions for you, but maybe via PM :)
PSSO is not only my favourite place to visit, but also one of the most creative MDs &apls
I'm very curious of Potemkin stairs - how will they look in your city?
Adam
Well, now I must give you some criticsm of your lots:
Odessa Terminus 3x3 looks weird, because you have located that Great Blue building in the middle of much smaller, but same era buildings and it's partner, the Great Blue Corner should ALWAYS be next to it. Or you should need to add another Great Blue building next to it. Alone it looks stupid, though its a great bat. Even Soviets didn't made that kind mistakes on Leningrad.
Otherwise your lotting is almost Badsim-level &apls
Oh damn, that is some real nice LE work you've been doing there... I should really use that program a little more! I love how you've used rainforest trees as urban ones, that really works well.
Oh it's magnifical it's so realistic
good job. &apls
congratulation for your works on LE &apls
it is really very although people like you this lance in parts like that, the control of will be rewarded by all our compliment !
Thank you to post the images of the LE and to thus continue .
All my congratulation and I am impatient to see the continuation ;)
Cheers &apls
Replies for the People
Glenni - And awesome models they are ;)
Robin - Don't worry about it, you have no, and thank you for that congrats. I'm always glad to show my forrays into LE. It has become quite time consuming (more time there than in game).
Bat - Thank you, I'm very excited for this month as well.
Nardo - Thank you for your congrats, and congrats to you also for the same honor. In answer to your question I converted it because I was striving for accuracy, trying to get the closest building to the real Odesa station. Which you can see here [Linkie]. (http://www.mapofukraine.net/odessa/sightseeing/railway_station.jpg)
Dustin - Ah yes, an even bigger party with tanks this time!
Daniel - Thanks!
Sebes - That combined with a few other "commie" images is my background :P
Kimcar - Wow, tons of claps for me, thank you very much!
Pat - Thank you first of all. I was never thinking about releasing any lots, (the w2w will never be released), but maybe I'll do some parks for release?
Dragonshardz - Classic Russian Reversal :P
Berethor - Thank you, always great to see a new face.
Adam - I noticed that Odesa's parks are kindof dull and just full of trees in real life, so I made my lots that way :P Any more questions you have feel free to PM or post here. And you'll see the steps in this update
Krio - I see what you mean, and now taht you point it out it does look quite bad...but I'm too lazy to re LE that because I just barely had enough time to do this update :P Good information for future lots though.
Cockatoo - Thank you, wasn't aware that they are rainforest trees, just looked like cool trees so i placed em :P
Simpson - Thank you
warconstruct - Thank you for your wonderful comment my friend, I hope this update lives up to the last one :satisfied:

This update will feature a custom BAT for me by Glenni that is the center piece of real life Odessa. Thank you very much to Glenni for this BAT. It will also feature something I've been wanting to do forever, but only with Glenni's help. We've recently teamed up (though he did more of the work) and produced basically every piece of equipment the Soviet Army (and PSSO Army) operated / operates. So now I'm going to have a military parade, for no apparent reason :PThis Update Was Only Possible With Glenni!! So Thanks to Our Local Viking (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg85.imageshack.us%2Fimg85%2F1870%2Fmosaic23cp0.jpg&hash=3674bf6237c5c28f3dcc9786cab7d236dc532b31)

That damn Viking and you made me speachless :P
Just great
Wow Owen, you've left me speechless &apls
Those trees, that parade, the posters, oh boy, where do I start.
INCREDIBLE!
It's pretty fun working on this kinda stuff so i don't really mind, especially when i see those results. ;)
Great work with that stair! I do love the overall atmosphere here, reminds me of my Visit in East - Berlin in 1985 (I was teenager then ... ;)
About the station:
I see, the Hiroshima station really seems to be the appropriate building for your terminus station.
I just wouldn't use open platforms in such a big terminus, all big terminus stations I know have big halls or at least all platform plus the connecting platform behind the tracks covered with a roof.
Take care!
Bernhard
Wow! Magnificent work, my friend! Absolutely magnificent!
You really catch the essence of the soviet union. ;D
Excellent city. I enjoy the details and the parade of course . &apls
yoman astounding work and gleni i didnt realise you had released thst corner building :P
Wow! &apls
Great stuff. Love the parade (though it looks very much a like riot in some places ??? ) And the Potempkin-stairs are wonderful!
All the Soviet equipment you say? Does that include air-planes? Because I would LOVE to see an AN-128 as an alternative to Tabi's Galaxy transporter. Or why not go for the biggest of them all: the AN-225?
Edit: the curb prop is not Maxis. Its called jes_concrete_curb
Some excellent mosaics and pictures there, Yoman!
And the stair and the area around it is looking beautiful!
Looking forward to the next update in this month...
quite simply splendid my friend &apls &apls
- I must congratulate you for your immense works that you have to realize here!
the mosaics are absolutely splendid and I am to level by looking at all these images $%Grinno$%
- In short... batches of the army (tank...) are really well to lay out in the city! and the military procession is even more realistic &apls
Your time to pass on the LE , was to reward my friend! maintain your great update
a+ Paul
Excellent update Yoman - this MD is bringing back many good memories, although I am glad the Soviet era isn't existing in real live anymore.
That stairs Glenni made fit realy well in Odessa :satisfied:
Thats a lovely update...your work with the lot editor is up there on par with BadSim in Antigone.
Your mosaices are a piece of art in itself!
I like the ambiance of your cities. Great job on the station and the staircase(and the threes along the street BTW!)
Again , a very nice mosaic and update &apls &apls &apls Love the parade and stairs , lucky guy
Yes good pictures  & very original &apls
Oh man that update is great!!! &apls
I have missed a lot in my absence. Your lots are deliscious. the atmosphere in the city is wonderful!
And I like the posters a lot! My way of handling politics :D
Strech.
BTW you'll be hearing from me soon.
You have no idea how great this is.
Awesome stuff! &apls
Just... Awesome... Great City Building/Lot Editor Skills & Nice attributes by Glenni. :o
Hey Owen, the last update is really fantastic!
I love your streets and sidewalks, and especially these great stairs
Billboards are great too (the communism was nothing pleasant, but maybe really the best way of talking about it is laughing ;))
Adam
Firstly belated congratulations on OSITM ;D
I LOVE the steps, finally they make an appearance anf truly wonderful they are. Overall such superb work, clearly a W2W master :satisfied:
AND the posters and parade, my goodness Owen, spectacular &apls &apls &apls
Hello,
This update was SPECTACULAR yes your work is fantastic but where do you find this grey texture of the street and road &apls &apls &apls &apls $%Grinno$%
I spy with my little eye beautiful gleaming T72s, Brutal BMP's and Mobile Ballistic Rocket Launchers. Awesome mate, the Potemkin looks Amazing, and a huge amount of beautiful small details, from fences to cars and sidewalks to the large commie posters. You got my Ak47 watching your back for you Comrade!
Norrbaggen förtjänar en redig applåd han med förövrigt &apls
Read the last page in Red Army the other night, awesome book. not very technical, but very describing of people in war, highly recommended you it :)
Keep it up Comrade Front Commander Owenski!
Update on the Status of PSSO
Sorry for the lack of replies, but it is 2:43 AM here right now, and I need to go to sleep, only thing that has kept me up was Snapple :P
Well I've kindof lost interest in LEing all my w2w, and I've gotten back into ports alot, I mean alot. As you know I have released my first prop pack with a set of gantry container cranes, and well I want to use them somewhere. So tonight I terrformed a Megaport, similar to Emilin's that occupies an entire large city tile. I plan to make this a project of mine over the next few months and I'll be BATing tons more things for this port. I'll aslo show work in progress pictures and how I did stuff etc etc instead of just pictures like the normal update, I plan on making this project somewhat of a learning experience or addon to emilin's port tutorial, its application on a wide scale I'd say.
Everything I BAT for this port will be released one way or another eventually if I think it is up to standards, and I can BAT much faster now than on some of my old projects. But moving on the port is based on Rotterdam's port. I based it on that port because when I was researching into ports and cranes on all my past BAT projects, I came to know the layout and all its info by heart basically. So I'm quite familiar. The port has basically been cut in half, and one section was flipped and moved to the left. So it still reflects Rotterdam's layout a little.
But you think I'd leave without pictures?

Enjoy!
^ Look up "complicated" in the dictionary and you get that! ;D Hoo hoo...
But seriously, it looks great even like this, can't wait to see it with cranes, boats, lots and all that
something tells me this is going to be good... :)
That looks excellent Yoman - I'll make sure to return here to follow the progression!
That's looking fantastic, Yoman! Looking forward to the development of that area... ;)
Oh M G!
And that just after I showed my region in the show us your region thread!
I was boasting about my port, called Rotterdam, but not at all resembling the real Rotjeknor.
This is much more detailed.... Although mine was just a first rough layout...
Probably I can learn a lot form your work.
I'll see what happens.
WOW!
That's that all I can really say! This is going to be immense!
wow! i missed some absolutly stunning updates and i cant wait to see how you will do the port
thats filth my man utter filth....
This is looking very interesting. I can't wait to see you fill it all in.
Robin ;)
Your first few updates were suprisingly pretty for a bleak communist nation :P ;D I loved it, brings back memories of Poland.
I'd like to see your port, looks very complex!
Wow! That is one intricate port you have there. Very clever use of diagonals - they look really cool, but also possible to turn into working docks. &apls
WoW...very beautiful works of térraforming for your future port &apls &apls
I am impatient to see the continuation !
Very good terraforming, it's very réalistic I really really love your work
Sweet work on the Port there, it will look mighty once its done comrade general!
Cheers
 Yoman just wonderful!!! I just dont know what else to say but WOW!!!!!!!!!
Replies for the People
Note - This includes replies for the last two updates
Krio - When I saw the models I was speechless as well :o
metasmurf - thank you :)
Daniel - That makes three of us speechless :P
Glenni - Even if it is fun for you, it wouldn't have been possible without you &apls
Bernhard (Nardo69) - I'm glad that I was able to capture the atmosphere of an eastern bloc city, its a really nice thing to know after working on it for awhile ()stsfd() As for the open platforms, your going to need to blame the designers of Odessa Station there, its a fairly large terminus and it has open platforms in real life, even odder considering that they get snow.
Dustin - Thanks, I think we should get your band to play on the steps
Berethor - Again its nice to know that the payoff at the end of the day was right in its atmosphere, and I love parades too :P
Mightygoose - thanks my friend, and he didn't release it :P Just found its way into my received files.
Emilin - Well I guess the people coming out to support their government are really getting into it, don't worry, theres tanks just a few hundred meters away :P Glenni attempted to convert a GTA IV An-225, but it came out looking like crap, so he scrapped it, he did however convert a Tu-154, which looks awesome. I've started BATing an An-124 myself, which could easily be converted to a 225 (same design, just larger), though its on the back burner at the moment. Thanks for the info on the curb prop also
Bat - Well I only got one more off during the month &mmm Was still an honor to be in OSITM
warconstruct - Thank you for your kind words, and I agree, tanks in cities go great, well as long as they don't have live ammo ::)
Sebes - Well this part of the Soviet era is the good part, I would love it if we had military parades now days, the part shown in this update is the not so good part &mmm
nedalezz - thank you for comparing me to Badsim, really makes me feel that the effort I put into the LE was worth it.
Une_ame - Thank you, hopefully some of these tanks can make it your way soon, along with the Mig-29s.
Kimcar - thank you, while I'm incredibly lucky to have the model, its not fun placing it :P And you can only look at it from this and the opposite angle, any other and it looks messed up.
Quesh - thank you :)
Strechnitz - Glad you were able to see it all after your absence, too bad PSSO doesn't have any huge palaces like Stropon, then I could LE those, though it would take forever (the train station took me a week). I eagerly await your PM, maybe PSSO can produce some posters for Stropon as well, as long as they don't contain anything promoting capitalism :P
Mulefisk - Thank you :)
caspervg - like I said, would not have been possible without the help of the viking ()stsfd()
Adam - Glad you liked the update my friend, the stairs are a perfect match for the ones in your MD as I said ;) As for the posters, I really wish I could make them large enough to read and keep it realistic, if you look closely on a bunch of them you've got the I'm too sexy for the tsar one, one where the Soviet farmers seem to think its patriotic to drive tractors over crops and crush them, and then the Lenin the Pimp one :P
Micheal - Thank you, been meaning to get that great model into its place for awhile, after months it finally got there.
Simpson - thank you, you can find the street texture on the STEX, just search sap23.
Seb - I'll see about getting that book, we'll also have to see about having a Visby make a visit at Odessa Harbor, maybe yours :P
Glenni - thanks, though I've scrapped that tile and started a new region with the 5 tile long port as you know :P
Bigberta - that tiny thing good? Bah, I've scraped it and made a 5 large tile long port now :P
Sebes - Thank you, it was fun to terrform ;D
Bat - Thanks ;D
Franku - I hope that people learn from my work, it would really make it feel worthwhile, hopefully my updates will help you
Dustin - As I said to two others, that thing ain't immense, only one tile, new one is 5 :P
Squidi - Thanks my fellow LE everything MDer :P
Mightygoose - water does look a tad bit unhealthy :P
Robin - Everything that makes its way into this port will get to you eventually
Panthersimcity4 - Well the old city centers dating back to the 1800s are actually pretty nice. Thanks for the comment.
Emilin - Figured that this would be right up your alley :P As for the diagonals, I didn't want it to be just box docks, so I took one of the areas in the Rotterdam port and crafted it to work for me a bit more.
Warconstruct - Thank you, as I said to others, I really enjoyed terrformming it and thinking about the possibilities of it.
Seb - Should be a nice side project to tide me over until your done pillaging the Baltic :P
Pat - Thanks :)----------------------------------------------------------
Todays update will be back in the PSSO, the suburbs of Odessa to be exact, last time I showed the nice areas, now the not so nice ()sad() On another note the port I showed in the last update has been scrapped, Ive stopped work on that project........and started on a new one, new region! The new port is a near exact replica of Rotterdam and is 5 Large tiles long :P Now onto the update!(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg145.imageshack.us%2Fimg145%2F8675%2Fmosaic25fo0.jpg&hash=0e2d55d084915c4eb0a7cfd7b6e921bb993cdc0e)

hmmm, i wonder whats going on at the old airstrip in the second picture? looks great yoman!
~~Dragonshardz~~
I must look carefully at your whole MD before building my low wealth districts :D Seriously! This is an excellent work, some places look funny but nothing is overdone here! At this occasion I would like to tell you that even in communist countries people are not so lazy and take care about their homes surrounding, they don't put their garbage directly at their houses entrances, but rather between bushes at the other side of the street, all state-owned areas are the best ones to do it :D

Me too! :P
As for your seaport: I think you had a good idea to change your project. It is very difficult to keep the proper scale in SC4, so making a seaport it is good to have a real model. Looking at your terraformed area I had a feeling that some of your docks are too narrow to enable large ships traffic. Imagine yourself a ship of the size you want to use, add some tugboats to it, provide the way the ship will enter/leave the port and you will have an answer how large should be a space for it.
5 large city tiles is a lot of space. You will also have a lot of work so I don't expect results very soon. But I wish you good luck! I will build two ports in Shosaloza and I will test some new ideas too. Maybe I will be able to give you a few suggestions?
Best regards
Adam
PS. I will write an answer for you in Shosaloza in the separate message, to let you know when I will send it. But now is too late in Poland - maybe tomorrow?
WOW!
Your work is mind-blowing, my friend! Those mosaic are some of the most beautiful mosaics I've seen in a long time! Magnificent work! I can't wait to see what you've got for us next!
Dustin
I don't think I'll ever understand why you love doing ghettos and slums so much, either way, it looks very realistic, not a pleasant place though. Great job on the mosaics, you're great at them.
Wow...seriously
I love the feel of the poorer areas, the look so realistic down to the rubbish in the courtyard areas. Amazing work as always Owen.

Yoman I love this really trashie update here and the wonderful placement of some military vehicals lol!!!!! I cant wait for the next update!!! BTW where does one find that grass that you have on the runway Owen? Is that something you made yourself or is it a plop item?
Ok and the rusty plane is just that?
OK and what are these green splashes along the airstrip?
Awesome! I like cities where mostly are bloks :)
Oh it's so beautiful very very...very good
I love your work &apls &apls
What is your terrain mod ?
I've kept my eye on this CJ ever since I have registered. It is just truely amazing! There's always a peice of realism in every update.
And for the lastest update - wowzers! You've done it again - you've brought out a fat, thick, block of realism once again. Those shanty flats surrounded by dirt and crap grass is an truly amazing peice of 'Best Seller' work.
I look forwards to seeing more of this great CJ.
;D
Always like your mosaics! Great new one!
Oh yeah very good job &apls
I like the oldies buildings !!
This suburbs is very realistic

what an update, the detail in the shots is unbelievable!!

I am lost for words here. That is just... wow! The airfield is about the coolest feature I have ever seen... well, maybe not ever, but it sure is something extra - so original and so very, very well executed.

Yes, I need both something like this and the fuel tank carriages train for my future oil terminal and refinery, I suppose I should do something with the carriage family but I haven't practice with it and don't know what to change ;)

Both the carriages (the fuel tank cars and the coal hoppers) are found in one of Jestarr's wonderful prop packs, I'm not sure which one exactly, but I think its one of his more recent ones, at least for the freight cars.
And to answer your question from the previous page Adam, the weeds are on the runway to make it appear out of use, I really wish there were some better weed props though :S
Whoa, i really love this mosaic, the best part is the deserted runway with suspicious stuff going on...

Wow! That is simply amazing!
Great work!
Still curious about your port though.
Absolutely splendid, your work is has the perfection, I congratulate you &apls
lol your sc4 town looks like mine in real life :D :D
Not an update here, just announcing that there might not be one for awhile due to GTA IV :P

ooooh no Owen dont say we lost you to the dark side lol!!! hey i wonder if you can do a cross over of GTA and PSSO :D
wow! your MD looks very similar to the Soviet-Union era photos ive seen! It looks very realistic!
Also, how do you find GTAIV? I hate how the cars now drive like they have a 2tonne brick in their boot! And the apart from WKTT, the radio stations are absolute crap.
Although I guess it makes sense in you playing GTAIV, with all the Russians, the Ukrainian central-character and the backstory about a war there...
ahh, another victim of GTA addiction syndrome, eh? ;D I myself have been diagnosed with that as well. :P
I love that airstrip in the middle of the field. Looks very awesome.
Replies for the People
dragonshardz - thank you, the Pu-239 was moved safely before those pesky weapons inspectors arrived :P
Adam (Ennedi) - I'm glad I'm an inspiration, but I must say, that I am lazy, and didn't really look to see where the garbage was falling when I clicked repeatedly in LE while moving the cursor around :P Though I based this a little on these photos, which have garbage everywhere [[Link]] (http://www.sweb.cz/whitewoman/chanov/english.htm)
About the docks, I realized that it was way too crammed in there, which is why I moved, its only ended up being 4 large tiles long, but the room it's given me is quite helpful in increasing the size in between docks. Though its incredible in what channels some huge ships can fit, like in the Port of LA.
Dustin (Thundercrack83) - Thank you very much for your kind words, I wouldn't call the scene beautiful though, well the farm fields do look nice :P
Daniel (Iamgoingtoeatyou) - Well because slums are fun to make and I can't pass up on using some great Polish bats.
Stormont - Thank you for the kind words.
Pat - Thank you my friend, apparently though you never know who was watching what happened at the airfield. In response to your question the grass I used on it was a maxis prop, I think I typed in weed or weeds in the prop search bar, and it was near there. Though I think it may have been in a cycledog pack.
dragonshardz - Yup, just happens to be there, unless some of the soldiers threw their vodka into it along with the cigarettes, and we know how that turns out :P
Adam - Weeds.
kbieniu7 - Thank you, great to see a new face.
Simpson - Thank you, my terrain mod is a few mixed together by Xiziz, along with a custom water mod, though you can't see any of the ground in those mosaics, all covered with grass lots or fields.
warszawa - Glad I was able to bring a lurker out of the dark, and welcome to the PSSO ;D Thank you for your kind words, nice to know that the annoyingly large amount of clicks needed to place that trash doesn't go unnoticed.
Bat - Thanks for the compliment
Quesh - Well I have no idea how old the buildings are, the Soviets seem to have picked a design in the early 50ties and not strayed from it for 40 years :P
ejc - thank you, your region shots have a much more vast amount of detail though. And I sortof did, I placed props on a lot with a railroad texture. The props are from one of Jestarr's packs, not sure which one though &mmm
Emilin - Thanks for the compliments, its definatley not the coolest feature ever, I've seen cooler a number of times, like in your MD  Originally it was just a farm field but I thought that was a bit too boring when combined with the farm field in the lower portion, and saw an airfield on google earth, so tada :P Might be a problem with the Tu-154 though, glenni's computer died :bomb:
Adam - Jestarr's rail props are excellent, perfectly sized. You'll need to ask Bernhard about proper configuration though, he knows alot more than me.
Glenni - There is no Pu-239 in that scene, I repeat, no Pu-239.
Sebes - lol, that is the most original reply I've ever seen.

mijg_dudy - Thanks, though finish your damn commie blocks so I can use em! :D
FrankU - Thanks, this update should satisfy you ;)
warconstruct - to have my pictures called perfect really makes the effort in LE feel worth it. Thank you.
Spot - Really, mind some pictures? Would really help with inspiration if you get the chance.
Pat - Don't think that GTA would work well in PSSO, bit too strict, though the Tank chases would be cool. We'd need your firefighting skills after though :P
cameroon1991 - I find GTA IV to be the greatest game ever, and love the new driving controls and feel (you need to get used to it and know how to use that 2 ton brick :P) And god I love WKTT, funniest radio station I've ever heard, Just or Unjust :P God I wish I could say some of the jokes, but I can't :P
Panthersimcity4 - indeed I've contracted the strain. Though in RL all my friends who played GTA obsessively including myself all got sick with Sinus infections :P We've dubbed it the GTA IV Virus.------------------------------------
I have finished the terrforming for the Port of Ossic, and construction shall begin soon, probably starting with the interior....well, I'll probably jump around actually :P. As I said previously, I plan to make this a WIP pictures project, as opposed to the finished shots of PSSO I show. Please feel free to ask any questions and I may release alot of the lots as attachments at the bottom of my updates, though be warned, I have huge numbers of prop packs that I use ::)(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi38.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fe130%2Fyoman3%2FImageOne-2.jpg&hash=7920662df886d12328ff2701a647382cc54fc931)

Sorry that there is no region shot, its not finished enough (only rendered the tiles I worked on).
Gosh Yoman, I really wish you would do a little planning instead of just jumping right in and building... ;) Looks great, I can't wait to see what you come up with!
I hope you will release some of your lots with your updates, because I have just about every prop I know of, and I have seen so many great port-related items on poor/unrealistic lots, and I know you will fix that!
Can't wait to see more.
Fred
Yes Yoma,
You definitely satisfied my curiosity.
Looks fantastic.
Can't wait for the next update. &apls &apls
The land preparation is really remarkable &apls
I feel that the future harbour will be splendid ;)
Holy Smokes! Jebel Ali in Dubai got nothing on this! Incredible planning; it really makes me drool just imagining what the finished product will look like!
Wow yoman your update is magnifical &apls
The préparation is very good and I can't imagine what you can do with this (it's will be good no??? $%Grinno$%)
So continue I want really...really more ;D &apls &apls &apls
Very interesting, to say the least. I wonder what seaport lots you will be putting in there? ::)
Robin
I have to say, this is probably my favorite md of all... Just brilliant. &apls I can't wait to see you develop that seaport.
All I can say is...
WOW.
Can't wait to see your port come together, my friend.
Dustin
Great start to your port, Owen. I'm throughly impressed with your planning and look forward to see it all come together.
And I'm sure I'd love to use your lots, if I don't have the dependancies then I've failed at SC4, there's no way I can't not have anything with 4GB of plugins...
Cheers,
Kevin
Great new update there! It's looking wonderful!
Looking forward to the next great update...
Splendid update , which work on the level of the térraforming for your port !!
The communication networks are very to develop
I the continuation with impatient waits .
Nice pictures, but the lay-out of the port reminds me of...... ;)
Can't wait for the next update and lots.
OMG
I really like your MD
don't know what to expect each update, but it's still amazes me how you capture the USSR-feeling in SC4
nice!! & keep it going
E
I'm sure that will be an impressive port. Great work
I really like the idea of swamps. I'm looking forward to see more.
Replies for the People
CabraBuitre - I know, terrible habit of not labeling anything :P
Fred - I will try to release as many as possible, some won't be until I get some more prop packs on LEX though ;)
FrankU - Glad you like it :)
Quesh - Thank you
nedalezz - I don't really like Jebel Ali that much, as like everything else in Dubai, its master planned. I like organic development ;D
Simpson - Thank you ;D
Robin - None power or water consuming ones....annoying game :P
Bigberta - Wow, of all the incredible MDs here, this is possibly your favorite, thats quite a compliment, thank you very much ;D
Dustin - Thanks my friend
Kevin - Somehow you've managed to make your plugins bigger than mine, two times the size, now that is a big plugins! ::)
Bat - Thank you my friend.
Warconstruct - I hope that the infrastructure of the port develops to be as extensive as the one in Rotterdam, it would look very interesting!
Getron - It was completely original, not totally stolen from Rotterdam..... :P
BoKrif - Thanks :D
EJC - Thank you for the great compliments. I like to keep things off balance ;)
Air6 - Thanks, and glad to see you hanging around the forums again. The swamps will be made much easier with ChrisAdam's new flora.
This Update Dedicated to Mike (Onlyplace4)
God Bless you Mike, a mentor, but most of all a friend.
Today's update is of Bailiaivka Cosmodrome. A medium sized launch facility located to the west of Odessa. From here Soyuz TMA Rockets are sent skyward carrying satellites mostly. The PSSO is yet to attempt a manned mission, though it has all the technology required. For now all manned personnel are sent into space via the Baikonur Cosmodrome and our Russian friends. The Baliaivka Cosmodrome is guarded by no less than 4 batteries of S-200 Angara Surface to Air missiles, with a range of 300 km and a ceiling of 125,000 ft, there is no escape for enemy aircraft %BUd% The Soyuz Rocket is a mid sized launch system, capable of taking most payloads into orbit. It is the most used rocket in history, with over 1700 launches and less than 40 failures. First introduced in 1966 in the USSR, the Soyuz has since become the workhorse of the PSSO, Russia's Federal Space Agency, and soon, the European Space Agency. --------------------------------------------------

Nice to see a Russian rocket with logo of ESA (European counterpart of NASA). Hope that this props will ever end up on the LEX.
What worry to detail, is really impressive
It's really beautiful &apls
wow!
That looks awesome!
Did you BAT the rockets yourself? They look great! &apls &apls &apls
Excellent update of the rocket there! Wonderful two small mosaics of it! Fantastic work!!
Looking forward to more...
Great update, my friend! That rocket is HUGE! And it looks amazing. I also love the single track leading the rocket to the launchpad.
Keep up the very impressive work here!
Dustin
"In Soviet Russia, arms race runs you!" ::)
Absolutely breathtaking stuff Owen, absolutely gorgeous! You know I love all these space-race stuff. Thanks for letting me know. Looks gorgeous!
OMG
LOVE the recent update, the rocket lots are spectacular.....you really do have a talent for this, fantastic work Owen.
Nice JS-III tanks on patrol lol. I love the update--the rockets look fantastic (tho I hope all those explosive-looking containers and freight cars get moved before launch ;) )
DO YOU HAVE AN OVERVIEW OF THE CITY?
I LOVE IT!
Hot damn! that rocket on the rail looks so awesome! :)
Thought I'd stop by to say hi. :P
That is one awesome update Mr. Owen.
Very impressive indeed! &apls
Woow!!!! Amazing!!!
For a while ago, you posted a picture of your rail station at the picture competition. Some criticized the fact that it was no covered roof over the rail terrace. However this was something i liked, and with that rail station, it actually reminded me of a station i once traveled to : Odessa train station. But what i didnt know is that it actually was supposed to be Odessa Train station. So now that i found your diary of Odessa, i am surprised to see i am right. The choice of rail building was visely. Even tough, the original station have the dome on the roof (or is it globe on the roof you say?).
Well that is just my opinion. See for yourself : http://www.flickr.com/photos/beatdrifter/1097880289/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/beatdrifter/1097880289/) (i hope you dont mind me adding this link.)
I now got the time to read everything. It looks very good. The last post is priceless.
The potemkin stairs is gorgeous, but way shorter than originall. The suburbs are great looking with an eastern Europe feeling. But it looks like Odessa have gotten the same problem as Napoli when it comes to garbage problem. Maybe the president of PSSO should put the secret police on the case. I'm shure they can find some responsible. If not, they can always make some become responsible. :D
Well, i am actually going back to Odessa for a few days at 10'th June. So if you want me to help with some pictures, textures or descriptions. Then its just to let me know.
Great job.
What a beautiful tribute to dedicate the legandry Mike (OnlyPlace4). &apls
The grounds of that military base look fantastic. I love the one way train tracks and rockets!
I hope to see more of your work very soon Yoman.
Alex
The cosmodrome is fantastic!
And I am still wondering about those great BTR's and T-80's... Lovely. ::)
Very nice tribute to Mike , Yoman . And your rocket and layout around it is just Stunning . Great work &apls &apls
Dear Yoman,
IMHO, all these nice pieces of equipment (T-80, BTR, BMD, trucks, S-200, Soyuz Rocket, etc) should be release to equip others forces :).
I've seen a Chinese replacement (simtro) for the in-game space shuttle, I do think your Soyuz looks way better and could be a wonderfull MOD to make .
Aye to that!
Replies for the People
Getron - When I was researching the Soyuz Rocket I found that the ESA will soon be using them at their own launch pads as a medium payload rocket. So I thought the logo was appropriate (plus I needed more logos on the rocket :P)
Quesh - Thank you, I think I kindof skimped on the lots, got really frustrated with LE :S
cameron1991 - Yup, BATed the rockets myself. Glad you like em.
Bat - I wish the mosaics could've been bigger, but well I spent most of the time BATing :S
thundercrack83 - Thanks Dustin, the original version was alot bigger, like 3-4 times the size, this is much better sized :P
Ryan - "In Soviet Russia, rocket launch you!"
Gareth - Glad you like the rockets, I'm sure your rocket BATs are better though
Micheal - Thanks, I'm gradually improving at BAT, like everyone says, it just takes practice :P
Toichus Maximus - Glad you like the tanks (which are acctually T-80s, but theyre so damn small, so hard to tell :P) Js-IIIs are pretty cool though, maybe I'll get some for monuments!
sergiolet - Oh god now :P Overviews are evil in my opinion! That is because the sections just off the mosaics for the most part aren't complete.
Glenni - Thanks, new vehicle in GTA eh? :P
Seahawkfan - Thanks
Q-Tips - So glad that that station reminded you of the real station. And yes, Odessa does seem to have a garbage problem. Unlike Napoli however we aren't going to ask the mob to deal with it (what idiots :P) Cant wait to see those photos!
warszawa - Yes, we shall all miss Mike ()sad(), he was my BAT mentor, which makes the update even more appropriate as alot of it is BATed. Thanks for your reply.
BoKriF - Yes, those BTRs and T-80s shall be on the advance soon!! Muhahahahahaha, because the Chairman needs to go to the supermarket :P
Une_ame - I'm clueless about Mods unfortunately :P So no Soyuz mod :P I may release the Soyuz props as a prop pack (though probably not the launch pad, I could've done alot better on that). S-200 and some other military crap might be released also, but the BTRs, BMPs, T-80s etc cannot be as they are not my models, PM me if you want em though.
Dragonshardz - PM me if you want em also ;)
--------------------------------------
Today is the last update before I go to Europe tomorrow, and probably the last update from the current region. Glenni will be starting a new MD based on Moldova and as a result both him and I are going to get new regions (I'm not happy with my current one anyway :P). Today though is farming. Because who doesn't like food! Woo. Theres a mosaic of some of the farm land (state owned of course) that is divided up by roads and hedges of trees. The PSSO produces more than enough food to feed itself and exports a large amount to the rest of Europe, Asia, and Africa. Scattered all around this rural landscape are small villages, which unfortunately aren't very nice. I'm not even sure if they have electricity or running water (think they have the latter). One of these villages, Marynivka, which is just north of Odessa, near the main highway to Kiev. --------------------------------------

Just some of that great state owned farmland!--------------------------------------
Sorry about the small size of the update, but I'm leaving tomorrow as I said and I couldn't get more done :S
Hi Yoman
You make like each update a very good and realistic one &apls
Your fields look very good like your small time
I hope you make a big update in not a long time because your make is simply beautiful :D
David
WOW OWEN that looks amazing. I am practically speechless on your update. The farms look really good, but what got me was that village, omg your parks menu must take like 20 mins to open from all the custom content you have. You really have such a wonderful MD coming along, and your lot editing looks amazing. One of the most realistic MD or CJ's for that matter that I have ever seen. Great Work. &apls &apls
Two large mosaics of great class &apls
A beautiful representation of the rural world
Great mosaics Owen!
At least I can see some realistic scale farmfields
I love farm buildings too, an excellent choice of them! I must do something similar when I will prepare my new region ;D
I don't know what will be the main theme of your new region, but knowing you and Glenni I suppose you will show some military stuff again :D
So I think it would be good for you to make a training ground for all these tanks ;) I started to research terrain textures and customizing terrain mods, maybe I will find something nice for you?
Adam
When can I move in!? :P
Excellent update again, Owen. Your lots are just awesome. Extremely creative, it's rare to find updates with areas like this one.

It will still be the PSSO, Glenni is taking over Moldova and making it communist :P But I need a bigger region, my current one is only of the area around Odessa. A custom terrain mod would be a god send also ;D
That's right, you'll see more later on, currently i'm really busy with preparing stuff for it. ;)
Wonderful new mosaic there like always! And looking forward to that new region and new things...
Wow, fantastic Update, I love your mosaics.
Really realistic, bravo.
Don'tbe sorry for a small update if it contains 2 gorgeous mosaïcs my friend.
Have fun in Europe and looking forward how it will inspire your future region ;)
This is a great village! I like it very much, the simple houses, but the large gardens and areas around them. Maybe you let your sims grow some more crops and vegetables in there. Usually in Communist countries these garden fruits were the only things people owned and could sell. So they worked hard in their own yards, and did close to nothing on the kolchoz.
Meaning that the gardens looked perfect and the rest didn't.
Good work. But.... what's happening with your port?
Woua, OMG :o ! It's fantastic ! I love your work, bravo !
Yeap 2 great mosaic. great pics &apls &apls Keep it up
ooohhh the farm mosaics looks fabulous.
I may have to steal some inspiration as I've started adding farms to Atlantean countryside.
The colours are just gorgeous and it looks realistic as well as being artistic :)
Hi Yoman,
Well, I finally made it over here and took some time scrolling through 16 pages! Your mosaics are truly fantastic. Your pictures have a real clarity and vibrancy about them, which works so well. I've played with a few mosaics but now I need to study yours again to see where I can improve.
Love the high rise apartment areas, you've really used the SFBT buildings to great effect.
And now PSSO is a full IPON member I will have to pop by more often.
Paul
Hello everyone,
Thank you for your very encouraging comments. I'm just posting to say that after over a month of inactivity due to vacation, BATing, and general summer laziness, I shall be making an update very soon, from the new region also ;D Now I leave you with some more communist propaganda & the emotions of Vladimir Putin.

Once again sorry for the inactivity in here.
Yoman its all good and good to know that you will be updating here again!!! I cant wait till then......
Yey! New update soon. I can't wait!
BTW: I love 8-bit Stalin! And indeed he looks similiar to Mario. ;D
Piotr
lol love the Putin image....soooo true :)
Looking forward to your next update Owen and of course our lovely war ;)
Hail Comrade!
Nice work on the last few updates, been awhile since I last checked in. I'm sad I missed you when you finally came to Stockholm, even more so seeing that I was actually in town that weekend, though as I understood it you had a blast anyway, which is the main thing. ^__^
Keep it up and it looks like ill be able to tour in more often this autumn.
Cheers!
Replies for the People
Simpson - I'm afraid I'm going to have to disappoint you, this update isn't of a particularly large size either, just two mosaics, much more to look at though.
Amerikaner - Only takes about 20 seconds or so to open, because I only put in the custom lots that I will need to make a particular something for that session. Thanks for your great compliments. I try to stay as realistic as possible, though its only a game so somethings are messed up.
Quesh - Thank you, I really enjoyed doing a rural area. As its not as high dense so therefore the detail can be nicer to look at. I'll probably do some more with ultra long farmland mosaics :P
Adam (Ennedi) - Indeed, large farmfields are the best ;D Surprisingly those farm buildings are mostly maxis, with maybe one or two exceptions. The entire country is a training ground :P Though a terrain mod would be excellent!
Iamgoingtoeatyou - Farming is excellent, you can move in just as soon as the running water is connected, which is right now...there is none. :P
BAT - I hope to make sure stopping in is worth it with the new region.
Earthquake - Thanks!
Sebes - I had great fun in Europe, some awesome inspiration as well ;D
FrankU - Ports on hold for a little, I have another container crane in the works (BAT) Thanks for the compliments, and yes, they do take nice care of their gardens. :P
Manny - Thank you very much :)
Kimcar - Thanks
Emperor Stormont - I don't think that the Atlantean farms will lack running water like these :P Raising the contrast in PS helps with the colors a little :P
paroch - I hope looking at the pics helps you with your mosaics. And yeah those SFBT blocks are great. Hope to see you again.
Pat - Then is now ;D
Sheep49 - 8bit Stalin is indeed awesome. Hope you like the new update.
Emperor Stormont - I think the mad image should be changed to Putin screaming at Mikheil Saakashvili, but still very true yes.
Seb (Xiziz) - Yeah, I'm also pissed that I finally get to Stockholm, and we don't meet :P Hope you find the time to stop in soon!-----------------------------------------
Sorry about my absence over the past two months or so. First I was in Europe (Denmark & Germany) for about 3 weeks. Then I was incredibly busy back in the US for 2 weeks, then I was back in Europe (UK, Denmark, Sweden) for 3 weeks. And now its school. The good news however is that this is my first update from my brand new Alienware Laptop, which I love, though has some features that probably added to the cost alot and I could do without :P I've spent the past week or so LEing some suburban lots which I'll showcase today. This is an area just north of Odesa (outskirts) which is a suburban area, with one family homes and the occasional towerblock. Conditions are much nicer than in the village we visited last time, and it is generally clean unlike the towerblocks from 3 updates ago. -----------------------------------------

Sorry for the small size of the update again. Alot more to view in the lots this time though.
Good news - an update from PSSO!
Lots are looking great. Very nice transition to the highrises (I hardley noticed it at first). &apls
But why are the military using the dirt backroad? ()what()
Don't be afraid, your update is so beautiful as well ;D
The city is looking very fine and also so réalistic. Very good work
I'm looking forward to the next update
Great update! Beautiful mosaics. They're very detailed!
Keep up the great work! ;D
Piotr
hi yoman , i have look your MD since the beggining and congrats you have really good make the east european ambiancy !!
and great update !!
vincent
that an awesome update  great job &apls
2 beautiful mosaics &apls
A beautiful representation of a poor suburb
Splendid these two mosaics! The suburban zone is very well made! cheer ;)
Great to see a new update here!
And two wonderful mosaics!! It's a very good area there, great work on it!
Looking forward to more... :)
great update owen and I hope you are enjoying the new alien tech hehehe, anyways I see a few military support vehicals tucked away in the residental alley's... Gotta love the military ;) I enjoyed both mosiacs and I cant wait to see more here....
Another gorgeous update Owen, wonderful work and worth the wait :)
that's great far eastern europe "suburbs" with (yeah tank in the garden) ! Dirty road and House and Blockie tower !!!
Great update! The mosaics look very detailed oriented, nice job!
Great update Yoman,
The work you've done in LE must have been time consuming but the results just ooze quality, so I'd say it was time well spent. The whole neighbourhood is put together very nicely indeed.
Great to see your MD "back in action", and hoping for more.
Paul
Your work is just amazing.
I've never seen a city like this before.
Everything is just so realistic ! I can't imagine how much work you've spend on this project !
ps: When will you post a view of all the city ? (or country ;D)
Good luck for the future !
&apls &apls Hey Yoman , welcome back ;D And a nice one as we see. A great use of alleys over there. Nice suburb. can`t wait for see more
WOW thats looking really good Yoman, I am pretty jealous of those lot-edited suburbs. :satisfied:
Nice to see your back and in action.
Nice update Owen. The rural suburb and the commies blocks look very good together. I spend my vacation in Czechia and the former DDR/East Germany, and am always surprised to see those blocks in a complete rural little village...
You captured the atmosphere very well &apls
Replies for the People
Emilin - Yes, took me awhile since the last one, sorry about that, big gap between his one and the last one too. Sorry :( And they are using the backroads on the off chance that an IAEA car is on the highway with a radioactive meter turned on and they notice it go up when the convoy passes them at dangerous speeds :P
Simpson - Thanks for your compliments, I do aim for the realism, makes it look like a craphole to live in though, though not as bad as that village in another update.
Sheep49 - thanks for the compliments
South Park - Ha, this is funny, I made all these lots watching South Park :P Thanks
Art128 - Thanks.
Quesh - Well in the PSSO, this would be an average suburb, poor is even crappier :P
warconstruct - Thanks.
Bat - I don't think you've missed an update Bat, thanks for your continued support, something in the People's Socialist State will surely be named after you :P
Pat - I'm enjoying my new laptop very much, well I better be considering how much they charge :P I do tend to go overboard with the military trucks :P But it is a large part of society.
Emperor Stormont - hmm, I do feel bad that this MD is so inconsistent though, sorry ()sad()
nova vesfalo - lol, why would you play on a swingset when you can play in a tank? I know I'd want to :P
Daniel - yes, I do strive for detail, which is why the damn updates are so small &mmm
paroch - It does indeed take forever to LE everything, I'm really not sure where Cedric (Badsim) gets the time. Though like him, I'm becomming addicted :P
artika - always great to see a new commer. Unfortunatley I refuse to post an overall view, because it would just be what I've shown, than nothingness :P
Kimcar - Gotta have some dirty garbagy alleyways :P
Amerikaner - Thanks my friend, they were acctually quite annoyingly repetitive to make, but I had to have some variety.
sebes - It seems like in the former Warsaw pact and current socialist countries, the answer to everything is the towerblock. When I took the Ice train from Hamburg to Berlin, I'd be traveling through these little farming villages, and bang, go under an overpass and you see a huge towerblock :P
Once again sorry for the absence. I did about half the lots, but then I got Far Cry 2, which occupied me for a week, and then Fallout 3 came out, so :P But I got bored of both just enough to finish the other half of the lots and make the update over the past weekend, partially also because I tore my Medial Collateral Ligament in my knee, so can't really move.
Anyway today's update is in central Odesa, in the nicest area with inspiration coming from the city itself and of course our good friend Cedric (Badsim). He's been very helpful and his MD Antigone, which if you haven't visited you should. By the way, what do my viewers think of the Mosaic format, should I abandon it in favor of an individual photo format showing how I'm building and not just whats done? More like Antigone?
Anyway, here we go!

Yoman, my friend, nice update... excellent use on the custom lots!! Looking forward for more
IMHO, you're loosing the soviet feel a little bit... I don't know... if it's just me I'll shut up
Amazing shot of the city , really nice work on that city Yoman
and also, great work o the mosaics &apls
Arthur
Woaw! It's very impressive! I love this! &apls
Wow, this is really great work. Beautiful detail on the streets witht the parked cars, fountains, subway entrances etc etc.... So much to see!
But, ahem....., I am still sooo curious about how your seaport is doing?
hi my friend ,great work on the LE and on your MD , I love it !! &apls
vincent
Really great city there and wonderful work on the LE!!!
Great work and it's really nice to see you back again.
I personelly like a mixture of mosaics and standard size pictures.
Your mosaics are always so impressive and full of details that would be missed if you only did standard pictures.
Robin
These two mosaics are just great and so realistic! I especially love that communistic thing with Lenin (in the first pic, in the second, it's a bit too hided) ;D Anyway, you've really inspired me with this update! To be honest, PSSO is one of the few MDs that I'm always looking forward for update ;)
The only thing I would suggest now, is for you to experiment with different trees. Because IMO trees you have in dirtcycles look pretty monotonious. But it's n ot a big problem at all. :)
Great update. I'll defenitely come back for more. :)
Piotr
I do not agree with Sheep49.
You use the same kind of trees in the streets and avenues. That is quite realistic. In real cities they usually plant the same kind of trees in one street. The next street might be different, but definitely not several types of trees in the same street.
So, your solution is very good.
And I do like mosaics a lot! They are very impressive.
What a grand and majestic city! It reminds me of Odessa very much, I like it!
Yo Yoman!
This is a great CJ!
BTW where did you get those building the ones next to the paris row buildings. You made serval good-looking blocks with them.
I love , Owen ! A lot ! Or a Lot ... $%Grinno$%
I don't see how I couldn't ....
Except , from time to time , double files of parked cars due to the streets Mod , that's perfect ... and beautiful .
&apls &apls &apls
&apls &apls &apls
This is fabulous, the city is perfect. Super work
And also fantastic work on the LE. I'm looking forward to the next update
OMG love it. Absolutely stunning update I love small details, so the parked cars and guards outside the building all make me very happy.
Another wonderful update and showcase of LE :satisfied:
Sweet work there Comrade, looks fantastic.
Up in Stockholm doing my tour of the Honour Guards at the Stockholm Castle (The ugly shoebox in the middle of old town...). Busy two weeks ahead, just got a few hours for R&R, desperately needed XD
Cheers
You attention to L.E detail is very good.
:) Good job.
Replies for the People
alan_vzla - Surprisingly central Odesa is quite nice, but yes, I am losing the crappy Soviet feel, at least in the city center, suburbs and farms are still going to be crap :P
art128 - Thank you
sciurus54 - Thanks
FrankU - Its incredible how much detail you can add with a few minutes (or hours) in LE, seaport is on hold for a bit, but I'm bored of LE now, so I'll probably go back to BAT, which either means the Airbus A330, or I'll finally try to solve my seawall problem....
south park - Hmm...gotta watch the new South Park after this :P
Bat - Thanks my friend.
rooker1 - Took your advice and have both now my friend (one huge mosaic, and three standard pictures (and a teaser)).
Sheep49 - I had to find a way to cover the big blank wall somehow, and my Lenin posters fit great :P And as for the trees, you probably are right, but the sad truth is, I'm too lazy to experiment with different ones :P Perhaps next time, I'm glad you enjoy a visit here also ;D
iamgoingtoeatyou - Thanks Daniel, you probably like it more than slums :P
Fresh Prince of SC4D -Thanks, and well there are a ton of buildings next to the Paris Row ones, I'm going to assume you mean the Polish Blocks (2x2 ones, that are used alot), those are by Ferox and can be found at simcitypolska.pl
Badsim - all inspired by you, most of the time one of my tabs is on Antigone :P and yes, I noticed the double cars also, I've stopped LEing in parking except on roads or ave's.
Simpson - I'm glad you liked it.
Stormont - I liked those guard props as well, though they didn't show up in front of the theater for some reason, which is why its a bit blank.
Seb - I saw the ugly shoebox, with the little white line you aren't allowed to cross around it :P Seems like a boring duty, well at least at the time I'm typing this its almost over (or is).
SixCents - Thanks.
Not to much of a delay between updates this time, though expect one the next time, I'm tired of LE and think I'll get back into a little BATing. Anyway today's update is Central Odesa again. I've decided to transfer the Socialist government to more of a China styled one (commies who like money :P), or a Russian Oligarchy. Will allow me to have some nicer areas such as these in Odesa, though the rest of the country will still be pretty bad.
Anyway.....on to it!

WOW!
I don't really even know what else to say but...WOW!
Magnificent stuff here, my friend, as always!
Dustin
very good update here Owen and I like the change over, its very pleasing to the eyes!!
Owen,
Maybe I could be of any help with the seawalls problem, whatever that problem is?
Anyway: I like the new mosaic.
The feel of the picture is very central Europe or Mediterranean: the wide pedestrian areas, the buildings. very good.
I have a challenge for you: can you make a mosaic that spreads over two city tiles? Meaning: could you develop a region where two city tiles fit together seamlessly? That might be a challenge. The fitting together of two pictures, taken form different city tiles, is not too difficult. I tried that myself.
Owen, splendid update my friend, you do an excellent work on these lots here  And they look good &apls
I see that you have lotted the Amsterdam station, great work on it ;)
I have just a question, what prop pack do you use for had these browns bench ? and what's their name in LE ?
Can't wait the next update.
Arthur
That's another fantastic new update there! Great pictures of your city!!!
It looks superb!
Shi#!" i miss some update sorry. But great pics and mosaic that you show to us. wow very good work and a lot of life in it . I like it very much. &apls &apls &apls
Ahaha, true, very true.
Sitting my last pass now, twelve hours to go untill I get to go home. Twelve booring hours :)
And those white lines arn't actually white, there black :P
Sweet looking pictures though :D
Cheers Comrade!
Very, very, very beautiful &apls
Good job and the sacred patience to Lot Editor :o
Wow :o. This is so beautiful and so réalistic, your job on the L.E. is really fantastic. I love your city so much my friend
Fantastic work, I'm looking forward to the next update.
David
God job!
So very, very sexy! Lovely European style, but at the same time with a kind of eastern European bleakness. I love it!
The feeling of your city is very special, I think a good part of it come from your crowded streets with the trees .
Can you tell me which MOD (the large walkways with the trees and the parked cars) you use to achieve that ()what()?
nice update, the mosaic looks real nice! my favorite pic was the last one, it looks very sleek and shiney!
