This is a great lot! I havn't seen any stand-alone car washes, and this one is very good. I didn't know it was based off an actual car wash.  My Sims will enjoy having a place to go for their cars to get cleaned

Hi Orange . :)

Firstly , let me tell you how I'm glad , very glad , that you finally decided to open a BAT thread , here , at SC4Devotion ... where I'll be able to comment your creations . ;D
As already said at Simtropolis - about Burj Al Alam - I think , considering you're BATting since only February 2008 , you're going to be the greatest french BATter since Porkissimo . No less , no more . People here can have so far just a little insight of your talent . And I hope that you'll open a LEX candidacy as soon as possible .

The Elephant Bleu is an excellent creation with its neon lights at night , and following your threads at TSC , I do highly apreciate your attention for LOTters . Can't wait for your second props pack to come out ... ::)

The rock Mod was totally unexpected ... I've tested and adopted it immediately !

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg386.imageshack.us%2Fimg386%2F5978%2Faubracmodxa8.jpg&hash=dcf71cb71f8aef398c4033e1191659c99fad1028)

It fits so well with the Sorchin's rocks I use ... Furthermore , the fact you created a mix of grass & rocks is a lot more realistic than others rock Mods with which we rather get bare cliffs than rocky slopes . The grass is a little too "flashy" , particularly on farest views but other than that the texture is perfect .

Thank you .

Cedric.

That's a fabulous boat and your work about it , Orange , isn't less fabulous .  &apls &apls &apls

What a pity that SC4 angles of view don't allow to view it at its best angle ... ::)

Wonderful trophy indeed .

I totally agree with Badsim, SC4 is definitely not the best way to see this piece of art. But... as we have no else choice, well we have to deal with it.
As I told you on TSC, what you achieved is great, really great.

Thanks a lot

Orange, I've just discovered your topic. What can I say ? Everything looks great and give me new desir to play SC4 !

Of course, the Burj Al Alam is perfect and when I see it, I can't refrain thinking of the Burg Dubai, the Index or Rose Rotana being built the same way.

Do I need to write about your train $%Grinno$%??? I don't think so !

The Belem is awesome, nothing else to say .

This church is simply amazing! I really love the way how Richard Meier draws his buildings. And this pure white elegance is just stunning....

Badsim : I'have not problem with the rendering, I have create a process to correct the aspect after the export... but for big bat I prefer the export is good ;D

The church is nice, beautifully batted, although unfortunetly most of the details won't be seen ingame anymore.
I would like to go back to the agricultural tractor props and just mention something. These props are fanatstic and somehow I fell in love with them, hopefully they will not be put aside and then forgotten like so many great BATs from different BATters. It would be an immense shame, because now with some folks that make mayor plops with machineries and other props, the idea is that they would look just wonderful,  if we could use them as Mayorplops to and plop them in existing farmfields etc. It would surely be the agricultural evolution of the game, a first. And if you don't do this, I surely will start BATting again, create farming machinery and have them made into mayor-ploppables. I count on you!

Hopefully they will be available one day and keep up the fine work you're doing. Good luck.

How can you make such a fast progress? I mean, the BAT seems to be perfect and it seems to be nerarly finished.
I hope tha you will do some other modern buildings in the future, too. Maybe something of Le Corbusier... or a small Zaha Hadid building :).

Thank you mrbisonm, don't worry , I'm sometimes puts of time (eh cédric  :-[ ) but I often end what I begin.
The megaprop V.02 will be ended. I did not post here all the props, but I must have made more than 150.
For the mayorplop I do not know, because I have never made. But it is necessary to learn

ObladiOblada I dream of to create the bridge of Hadid, it would be fabulous. It is so beautiful

David I like this first name  ;D
Thank you very much to be interested in you in my work. It is an honor

Thank you Robin ... I badly expressed myself, excuse my English.
It is not bat it which is almost, it is the photo because it is a joke. It is not one 3dsmax preview, it is a gmax photoshoped ;)

Bonjour et bravo pour tes créations, qui vont elles aussi contribuer à rendre nos sim-countrysides plus réalistes

(to the admins, i'm writing in french here, but if the rule is to translate everything, just let me know)

rhizome21, as English is the main language of the site we prefer a translation if you wish to write in French.
As for your suggestions, the same things are seen here in Brittany so I suspect Orange may have made some.
Orange, if you would like me to make you some Mayor Mode ploppable mods for your props, please ask. Dedgren's tutorial is excellent but may be difficult for a non English speaker.

Just amazing! As I already said, it's pure white elegance, recreated by a fabulous BATer.
This church comes along very nice and will be a highlight in every city and something new and different to the chruches we already have for the game.
In contrast to the white colour, this blue looks very dark. But it creates a little tension and makes the building more interesting as it already is.

It's amazing how many great buildings of the world I learn about seeing them for the first time as bats  ;) The church will fit perfectly in modern downtown areas. I wonder how big a lot you are planning to make for it - hopefully not too huge. I'm particularily looking for agro props as I'm trying to recreate wood/agro area from the real word and those would be exactly what i need. I agree mayor mode plops would be particularily useful. Keep up the great work - it's much appreciated

Thank you still in all,

Here is a photo (certainly not the most beautiful) but it presents well the church in its context:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fgraphics7.nytimes.com%2Fimages%2F2003%2F10%2F30%2Farts%2Friding.2.583-240.jpg&hash=f7fa06f1c998a5d0ba75ffb868a53ede5f6d8718)

You can observe several things there:

- Spotless whiteness of the building of effectively in a self-cleaning specific concrete
- the intersidereal space on the square
- The character "in more or less" 45 ° of the road (for us there will be 45 °)

Knowing it:

- My white texture in summer slightly intoxicated not to be too white, most observers of you verons even some castings of dirts by place.
- not there will be neither tree or bench on the square, so that it is less empty, people were added.
- For the Lot... I would see, too much not knowing how to take me there still.

Here is a photo was "extracted"  by the export, (night render) it is not the view of normal night (although the users of the "night mod" are have to be far from it)

Exactly like that! The car looks really good. I'm not quite sure, but would it be possible to delete this darker texture in front of the building? Personally, I find it sometimes really ugly when there are differences between the lot base texture and the base texture of the BAT.
That would only be a bonus to this sweet shop  &apls

Hi

Thank you paul for the Lot  it's look good. I think the upload is next week. and thank for him

ok now the SiliGom bat,

I would create a realistic Shop which is closed at 19h00,  ;D  but usually at night is a day view with lights
so I create 2 bats a day and a night and after with photoshop and ilive, I could combine the two to create this :

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fmoe.mabul.org%2Fup%2Fmoe%2F2009%2F02%2F10%2Fimg-002342q3bs0.gif&hash=3f9ed4d66d684a8436b5f4a0fd219f43839b1b69) (http://mabul.org/)

if you would create a night view with a day view , layer at night shall be filled with color #00001e (R0;G0,B30)  and the opacity set to around 55

It appears that you are having a little difficulty with the white texture for your church. There is a lot of glow and you've lost all the texture detail.

One this to keep in mind with the in game white is that the Maxis buildings are not bright white. To test this you can get a screen grab of some of the Maxis white buildings and then use the color picker tool of your paint program. You will see that the brightest white buildings are usually around R=220, G=220, and B=220.  I don't recall seeing any buildings with brighter whites than RGB=220. So - when I do a bat I usually make my whites around RGB = 190 to 200.  The texture below is my painted white concrete texture with cuts. Note the RGB levels.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi148.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs26%2Fjmyers2043%2Fglow01.jpg&hash=a1755a55bb12f8b3389d66dafc6068ddfda7f295)

White is a particularly difficult thing to get right for a bat. It is most noticeable on a curved surface. No matter how dark you make your white there will always be a huge glowing area. I applied the above texture to a box with two bends.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi148.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs26%2Fjmyers2043%2Fglow02.jpg&hash=95b4f887d18db53889a4d5cdd1db81678deea631)

The way to get around this is to clone a second box. Use the scale tool and make it slightly larger than the original. In the picture below you will see that I made box02 1% larger. I also made a copy of the original texture but I applied 30% opacity to it. Then UV mapped the semi opaque texture to box02. The result is that you can have a curved white surface that still retains texturing detail.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi148.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs26%2Fjmyers2043%2Fglow03.jpg&hash=f623c62eb9dcb2ac36979e468336f4a390a9e2f6)

Here you go. Box02 with its semi opaque texture is wrapped around Box01. This gives me a curved white surface with little or no glare. In fact, you can control the amount of glare buy increasing or reducing the amount of opacity.

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi148.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fs26%2Fjmyers2043%2Fglow04.jpg&hash=a288bc1f2fc0f78573dc67afbb69b1584e21398c)

You may want to try this with your next 'white building with curved walls'.

Thanks to both, but can we plopperizer a prop family or a lot? Because the task will be difficult, there is 96 props who have to put themselves in a particular sense direction... :-[

For more detail, one tile is composed 8 or 9 prop family

Today it adorned me difficult, but maybe it is also because I do not know well the plopperizer. ;)

Obladi my friend, The snow mod will consist of several textures thus it will re-lay in your demand

Thank's Neofita, but the snow which you can see on this image is a test, it is not a definitive texture

Adam, I was told that you also had a project in this domain?

Yes  :D, but it will take some time to prepare it. Last few weeks I showed some rock mods in my MD, I have also a few water and beach mods ready to release. I decided to release them first, both in HD and SD version to make them available for all players. So completing textures for terrain mod is a bit late. I don't want to say about schedules and deadlines  ;) but I hope I will be able to show first results in a few weeks. We are going to make it with Chris (Chrisadams) and Silvio (Rayden) - if they will have time.

I see you make a few very good decisions:
- Composing more snow textures is a must to make a good looking transition between snow and other textures. (I wonder how will look snow border on steep slopes ie. what will you do with jegged edges  :))
- I see that your beach is composed of more textures too  Very good, I suppose you used the last bottom layer of the texture map table to increase the beach size and add variety - am I right?  ;)

Of course we can exchange our experience, if you would like to ask me for somethiong, feel free to do it!

Yes I use 3 textures, perhaps 4 (ice texture  &mmm )  ... and yes I have a problème with the rock mod for the snow, it's for that, when I would work with the Hight cliff texture, but after 3 or 4 days I have of to abandon this track...  :'(

These really look amazing!

One question...  I can see people wanting to use this beach texture (because it's that darn good!) potentially with another terrain mod.  Is it possible to make the textures that you've created for the terrain mod into base textures so people can create smaller beaches with this great texture while still using another terrain mod (without beaches everywhere)?

You are very kind Orange_o_ !  :) Thank you in behalf of SC4 Landscape Designers Studio!

There are many texture sites, but some of them are especially good such as cgtextures. It is possible that two persons or teams can make use of the same texture sometimes. We use to show early versions of our projected mods to receive comments and suggestions, so feel free to inform us if you will see we use something you want to use too  We will look for another source texture in that case.
I hope such situations will not happen very often, both you and our team are working on terrain mods currently, but even if we will use the same texture, we will usually edit it in different ways and it will be a part of different texture sets, so I don't expect any conflicts in future.

Btw your rock mod looks fantastic! It seems we again go in parallel ways  :D. I'm sure we will have more rocks mixed with grass and snow in future, its a natural consequence of our current experiments. It will be also a good way to remove jagged snow edges. But it will be difficult to make them looking good in every zoom and rotation, so we have much work to do  ;)

After Jubile Church (if call remind you the modern church), I redid it a new.

Big novelty nevertheless, I have create that this with Sketchup and textures with 3dsmax. It is the first time which I use 3dsmax, and I am a beginner with Sketchup.

Thus textures are not completed yet (anything is convenient for me everything made) but at the same time it is not too ugly to be shown.

It is about the Church of Saint Rédempteur " Iglesia del Santísimo Redentor " of realizing by the Spanish architect Fernando Menis.
This church is to Laguna near Tenerife in the Canarian Islands.

This church is really amazing. Personally I like this rough concrete surfache of this building.

Refering to the bridge, I remember us talking about this project when you made the chruch by Richard Meier. I can't wait for it :D.

P.S.: Maybe the concert hall of Tenerife would be a project for you, too.

Are these nice works over here and from this group get ever released anywhere, or is this just a showcase? It's a pity because some of them are quite impressive, and I'm sure a lot of people would like to use them. &mmm

Some of my works remained unfinished, as the river for example.
Others are still in development as MegaProp v.02 that I account to uploader within one month.
Some meeting of the problems of lot, as the telescope, where it would be necessary that I to create new elements.
The rest is to uploader on the TSCex, following the recommendations of Choco, I modified Hadid Bridge, who is going to be uploder next week on the TSCex and the STex and I would make maybe a request for the LEX.

If I takes care of posting these images on SC4D, it is especially to have remarks and advice. Many persons come on my topic, but little are interested in my work.
Between both photos of the church, 200 persons came to see, but those who saw an interest there are rare.
Maybe it is the language barrier, my English is far from being completed. I express myself maybe badly.

Quite the opposite.

Many people have visited your thread to enjoy what you have posted. Have you ever walked through an art gallery full of exhibits? Do you feel the need to comment on each and every one? Most people don't comment on every piece - they admire the work and take it in silently.

At any rate, your church is magnificent, and quality modern buildings are needed in game - but as you modelled the building in sketchup and are using a program more advanced than gmax to render it, I cannot offer any advice that would be of use to assist you.

David , for various private reasons , has decided to stand back in order to assess his situation from any SC4 activities . That decision has been a painful one for him , and if it would be a definitive one ... how terrible would be the loss for the whole community . Two days ago , I've received from him tens of  Models files , all little jewels , rural props  & seasonal trees with the liberty to build with them his Prop Pack Vol2 and upload it .

Well , this is how things are going to run : I've started to turn all these Models files into proper props . As soon as it will be done , I'll post a picture of a test Lot with all these props ....

So , as promised , the pictures ...

This Prop Pack Vol2 should be ready before the end of january ...

Antoine , we both know how David was unsatisfied with his trees after have seen yours , but you should think about his trees having a winter snow covered version for your Winter Pack , and maybe , with Carl (Lowkee33)'s help , for Mayor Mod ploppables ?

Hope you like all these babies as much as I do , thank you for leaving a comment to honor David who has the kindness to let me build this Props Pack for the community . Unfortunately , he is leaving many others projects unfinished ... having had the curiosity to read back his BATing threads at Toutsimcities , I've been simply scared of heights . How lucky you are to do not understand french language !!!  ::)

That said , Mayor Ploppable version is also in debate . In that case , necessary & complex  modding being released by a BSC member (Lowkee33) and then integrated to a winter pack from another BSC member (Girafe) , you should see them on the LEX , sooner or later  ...

To toss in my 2 cents on the winter tree question I would vote for both snowy and non snowy trees available which the user would decide on upon install.

Hello, Orange!

Your Pyrenean Terrain Mod (PTM) and rock textures are wonderful and I have been using them for several months.

Recently, in an attempt to have the game run faster, I began adjusting display options as was recommended by several forum threads. One of the suggestions was to render with software rather than hardware. After changing the setting to software, the game would crash to desktop while loading a city. When I reviewed the ReadMe I remembered that PTM is HD and that I always needed to use the hardware option. After backtracking and switching to hardware, I was able to load a city. But there are problems now. Textures are appearing in the wrong altitudes and some are not showing up at all.

For example:

In this picture, the shore line texture and rock mods are visible, but the Maxis terrain texture is appearing as well.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg193.imageshack.us%2Fimg193%2F9959%2Frockandshorelinewithmax.png&hash=524c49725d0764328899934644f4c75fc98b882d) (http://img193.imageshack.us/i/rockandshorelinewithmax.png/)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us (http://imageshack.us)

In this picture, the beach texture appears at higher altitudes.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg713.imageshack.us%2Fimg713%2F2351%2Fsandtexturesatmediumalt.png&hash=758ebf7d5a46d5cc163ce8b615bde3dccfcfc005) (http://img713.imageshack.us/i/sandtexturesatmediumalt.png/)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us (http://imageshack.us)

This picture is a close up of the previous picture: sand on the side of a mountain with the Maxis mountain textures.
(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg194.imageshack.us%2Fimg194%2F2351%2Fsandtexturesatmediumalt.png&hash=69bbf130c045c2d13168b80d0b6c7327caf759de) (http://img194.imageshack.us/i/sandtexturesatmediumalt.png/)

Uploaded with ImageShack.us (http://imageshack.us)

I have not altered my plugins folder in any way and all of the necessary files and dependencies have been downloaded and redownloaded to make sure that everything is present. I have even altered .dat files with "zzzz_'s" to make sure that they load last. No other terrain mods have been downloaded and there should not be any conflicts with other plugin files.

Have you ever seen anything like this before? If you have, do you know what I should do to correct it? Or perhaps you could refer me to someone who would know?

Thank you for your hard work and thank you for taking time to read through this!

Thank you for your quick response and suggestion! I have downloaded the terrain mod again and the same problem is occurring. The appropriate .dat file is being used and all three dependencies are accounted for. Maybe you know of another forums member that you respect the opinion of and who would be able to tell me more about terrain mod problems?

Thank you for your time!

Some of Orange's textures use the same Instances as Maxis Textures.  The pictures you are showing are what appears if only his textures are installed, but no terrain controller.

Therefore, either you are missing a zzz_TSC_Orange....dat or you have some terrain mod loading after this file.  I would guess you have a no-erosion mod installed.

Title: Re: TSC-Orange Creations
Post by: bladeberkman on January 19, 2011, 08:57:20 PM
@ Lowkee33:

Hey, you are right! I found the problem. I have a folder called "ZZ_HeightMod" with a file called "ImportNoErosionStandardTextures.dat." I removed it and the textures are showing up as they ought to. Now I just have to figure out what I am going to loose by getting rid of this file. Do you know what the purpose of this file is and if there are any useful alternatives that will not interfere with the PTM? You knew that something related to erosion was the problem and maybe you know of something that will fulfill the same function without altering the textures.

In the meantime, I'll start reading up on this file...

Thank you for your advice, Lowkee33, and thank you, Orange, for making the referral!

-Blade
Title: Re: TSC-Orange Creations
Post by: Lowkee33 on January 20, 2011, 08:33:36 AM
Erosion only occurs during region rendering, and when you click the "erosion" tool.  You only need this file when you are making the region, it can be taken out otherwise.

Erosion is controlled in the same file that defines the terrain textures (So your file that uses standard textures makes exactly what one would expect to happen).  You can make your PTM have no erosion pretty quick if you know how to use ILive's Reader.  You would figure out the difference between your no-erosion mod, and the Terrain INI in SimCity_1.dat.  Then you apply these differences to your PTM.  I believe there are just two values that need to be set to "0".

Please Orange_0. . . I am a beginner as  an older!. . . I am wading through pages and pages of overwhelmingly magnificent work and I do not know how or where to begin, because I want to do it all very fast. . . in art language has no barriers that are not overcome.  I surely hope I am not too late to learn and hop on the Sims train with all these great creators!!
