Updated to Version 1.1 on November 18, 2018
The TRK-NAM Default Asphalt Streets Mod is a mod which re-textures the game's default Street network to a dark asphalt look, matching with the game's Road, One-Way Road, and Avenue networks. It also swaps the gray Maxis Streets to become SAM Set 7 in the NAM's Street Addon Mod, which is normally a dark asphalt set by default. It is designed to cover all existing features with the base Street network and SAM-7, including intersections, curves, and transitions available in both the base game and with the NAM. It also supports both US/North American and European/International texture sets, as well as the two Rail specifications (NAM RealRailway and Maxis Rail), as well as Right-Hand Driving (RHD) and Left-Hand Driving (LHD) modes.
The TRK-NAM Default Asphalt Streets Mod is designed for use with SimCity 4. It will technically work with any version of SimCity 4, though has only been tested for compatibility with SimCity 4 Deluxe/Rush Hour. However, it is highly recommended that the user have the latest version of the Network Addon Mod (NAM) with the Street Addon Mod (SAM) chosen as an installation option.
More information on the NAM, including compatibility, can be found in the NAM Online Documentation.
Update to Version 1.1 (November 18, 2018)
Windows Installation (Installer)
Upon running the installer, the options screen will present a variety of different configurations, based on drive side (RHD or LHD), and whether one has North American or Euro-International textures installed, and whether one has the NAM RealRailway (RRW) spec installed for the Rail network, or still uses Maxis Rail.
The option "RHD/North American/RRW" will install the files necessary for Right-Hand Driving, North American Road textures, and NAM RealRailway crossings. "LHD/Euro-International/Maxis Rail", on the other hand, would install the files for left-hand driving, Euro-International textures, and default Maxis Rail (non-RRW) crossings.
The files are, by default, installed to My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins\z___Tarkus_NAM\Default Asphalt Streets Mod. This folder will load after other cosmetic options in the NAM (which reside in z___NAM), and as such, will override them. Both the main Default Asphalt Street files and the SAM-7 Maxis Street set will be installed here.
The mod's documentation is installed to My Documents\SimCity 4\NAM Auxiliary Files\Documentation\addons\default-asphalt-streets.
Upon opening the initial .zip archive, open up TRK_NAM_DefaultAsphaltStreets_Setup.exe using Keka (or similar utility). The entire contents of the mod should be viewable upon doing so.
In order to fully install the mod, select one of the DAT files beginning with "TRK_NAM_DefaultAsphaltStreets_", and the corresponding one beginning with "TRK_NAM_SAM-7_MaxisStreets_". The abbreviations after the initial part of the file name indicate drive side, Road texture spec, and Rail texture spec.
"TRK_NAM_DefaultAsphaltStreets_RHD_NA_RRW.dat" would be the file for Right-Hand Driving, North American Road textures, and NAM RealRailway crossings. "TRK_NAM_SAM-7_MaxisStreets_RHD_NA_RRW.dat" would be the corresponding SAM-7 file.
By the same token, "TRK_NAM_DefaultAsphaltStreets_LHD_EU_MRW.dat" would be the file for Left-Hand Driving, Euro-International textures, and default Maxis Rail crossings. "TRK_NAM_SAM-7_MaxisStreets_EU_MRW.dat" would be the corresponding SAM-7 file (as the Maxis Rail/MRW versions of the SAM-7 files work for both RHD and LHD).
Installation into a z___Tarkus_NAM\Default Asphalt Streets Mod folder within the Plugins folder is recommended.
Primary credits for the original Maxis Street texture enhancements and expansions go to superhands, Swordmaster, and memo.

|Tarkus||Updated to Version 1.1, adding additional wealth textures to cover mid/high-density wealth levels (4, 5, and 6), to fully cover NAM Euro Cosmetic Mod and RealRailway features (thanks to Tyberius06 for spotting this issue).||2018-11-18|
|metarvo||Nice! I sometimes feel like I use the SAM-7 streets more than the defaults, so this makes it much easier.||2018-11-05|
|mattb325||Thankyou so much for sharing. It must have taken some time to bring this all together. Street texture replacement mods for the player are easily one of the best ways to keep the game looking fresh :-)||2018-10-22|
