Good evening and welcome to the tenth and final day of the Simylmpic Torch Relay. We welcome you to the Imperial Atlantean Colony of Perseus, a bastion of unashamed glamour and unadulterated grandeur. Perseus is the Earth Colony of the Imperial Atlantean Empire today will hold the honour of the only SCJU nation to host the relay before we sent it off in style on its way to Hinawa, Seto for the opening ceremony.

The Flame arrived on-board a specially charted Poseidon Airlines Trident Supersonic Aircraft from the previous hosting nation of West Novland. It was greeted by an Honour Guard from the First Imperial Marine Guard, also attending the welcoming ceremony was the Persusian Governor-General Sir Matthew Drummond-Willoughby and His Imperial Highness Prince Julius, His Majesty the Emperor's Envoy to Earth. Christopher Rikens the Persusian Sports Minister and the Lord-Lieutenant of Passau City, William Paulkins were also present.

After the welcome ceremony it boarded an open top bus and made its way into the city, disembarking to pass crowds assembled at the King George Botanical Gardens, before joining the large motorcade and making their way into the northern edge of the city and into the Old Quarter, the most historic and earliest site of settlement of what would become Passau City.

Once again they disembarked the bus and passed thousands of people gathered along the beautiful cobbled streets, passing the Persusian National Gallery, St. Bernard Roman Catholic Cathedral, Persusian National Library and Winterton Opera House.

They carried on foot westward and through the Imperial Palace Quarter, passing the impressive Atlantean Arch, built to celebrate the glory and power of the Imperial Empire. From here it passed along Palace Avenue, past assembled crowds outside the SCJU Representative Offices, National Modern Art Gallery and Persusian Museum of Political History.

From here they turned east and headed down Churchill Avenue, where once again Persusians and foreign tourists turned out in their thousands to welcome the torch as it passed the British Consulate, Imperial Palace and the Passau Institute for the Arts and Culture. Continuing down Churchill Avenue they headed south toward the gleaming towers of reflective glass and steel that comprise the powerful Passau Financial District, little more than a run-down quay side only 20 years ago.

From here they moved toward the Perseus National Stadium and Altex Arena where thousands awaited its final leg. The Stadium will ronight host a Finale Concert before the flame departs for Hinawa and the opening of the 10th Simlympic Games. A mighty spectacle has been planned and we await with abated breath as to the delights, drama and hospitality the Setonese people have in store for us. ON TO HINAWA!!!

The Caledon Quay district is one of the oldest in Passau. It has played a major role in the industrial and economic development of the city since the mid 1800's. It started as a small boat yard surrounded by linen mills and grain warehouses.

Over the coming decades it would emerge as one of the greatest and most important shipyards in Atlantica-Alba. Protected from the harsh Atlantic storm if proved a vital safe harbour and perfect location for large scale shipbuilding.

By 1900 it had become the largest shipyard in Atlantica-Alba and one of it's most important ports. It was also the home of a large number of British Royal Naval ships and this only furthered it's importance and economic impact on the growing city.

It provided a vital role during the Second World War, out of reach of Luftwaffe bombers, it was essential in providing safe harbour for docking, re-supply and repairs during the costly war. It's shipbuilding facility was expanded and it's factories taken over and put to use as part of the war effort, churning out tanks, munitions, guns and planes.

However by the 1960's and early 1970's the yard had went into steep decline with widespread abandonment of formerly prosperous industrial zones and a sharp reduction in ship contracts. Competition from Asia undercut the yard and the city suffered immense levels of economic hardship coupled with unemployment.

By the late 1970's the area resembled a derelict wasteland, decrepit buildings and equipment serving as a ghostly reminder of it's own illustrious past.

With the handover from the United Kingdom to the Atlantean Empire came massive levels of investment targeted at building a new economy and fundamental restructuring. The land was seized by the new Colonial Council, cleared and decontaminated.
Incredibly ambitious plans were drawn up to turn the area into the a new centre for business and finance to rival those long established giants such as New York, London and Hong Kong. Atlantean firms were the first to sign development contracts and so a revolution started. Work started to fill in disused slipways, docks and the shoreline was re-shaped to better suit it's new purpose.

Within 15 years the area would grow to become the largest financial centre in Atlantica-Alba, this status and it's highly advantageous business environment led to a flood of international investment and generous government support has allowed the area to flourish. Today the Caledon Quay district is one of the most powerful financial centres in the world and the global hub for almost all of Atlantean based corporations.

The centrepiece of the district is Derivative Plaza and the Passau Stock Exchange. The crowning set piece is the stunning transit hub. A remarkable sculptural building designed by Santiago Calatrava and connecting the plaza and surrounding buildings with national rail links and the Passau Underground rail system. The area also features an exclusive and beautifully designed underground shopping complex that also houses restaurants, bars and entertainment venues. The unique structure allows for natural light to flood into the complex, allowing shoppers to browse stores such as Jo Malone, Sand, Lanvin, Thomas Pink, L'occitane, Mulberry and Dolce and Gabanna.

The district has become home to some of the largest corporations in the world with an abundant supply of Atlantean firms using the location as a springboard into global markets, markets they have started to influence and fully integrate to, Atlantean banks being the most successful.

Some of the most striking buildings include Atlantis Spire, a twisting skyscraper that seeks to display the modern grandeur of the Imperial Empire. Located opposite the spire is the newly constructed Perseus Tower, with its landmark spire symbolising it's connection with the stars above.
The area is a showcase of modern architecture and it awes all those that visit and work there.

A special feature of the financial area is the Roslin Winter Garden. A fabulous glazed atrium that houses shops, restaurants and a fantastic performing arena and named in recognition for Laura Roslin, the longest serving SCJU Representative and President, she represents the Dominion of Wales. The main lobby is home to 12 specially imported Liberius Palms that were transported from the planet of Atlantis and have pride of place.

Plan have recently been released that will increase the development by approximately 70% and bring a new wave of corporate investment and further cement it's position as one of the leading global centres of banking, business and finance.
