Woww Fabian!!! What a wonderful mosaic, highly realistic and beautiful!!!  &apls &apls &apls
Welcome to the "Best Sellers" my friend!!!

silentbreaker

Very nice mosaic with its unique european feeling! However I somehow dislike the rails in the middle cutting right trough the heart of the city; they look somehow dead - a tunnel would be much better imo or at least some trains making the rails more alive for the screenshot ;D Nevertheless your mosaic is truely a masterpiece! Well done!  &apls

I like how you incorporated so many trees in all those empty spaces. The mosaic overall looks pretty awesome, too! Great job Fabian. :P

Oh, and congrats on reaching the best sellers!

Your city and the mosaic are really superb, bravo.
You really have worries of the detail and your sidwalk gives a more realistic touch, I love.
Your city is really a source of inspiration.

djvandrake

Wonderful mosaic!  &apls  The large building with the statue plaza near the bottom is very well done.  &apls

Battlecat

Another couple of superb updates as always!  The mosaic in your latest update looks great, I really like that monster train station!

Update #11 - City of Erhaven

First: Wow! 14 replies (and so many new faces in this MD) - that's a new record for me here ;D.
I recently went to Berlin for 3 days and in the last week I had to write two tests (one of it 4 hours long and it doesn't get better in the next weeks), so I didn't have a lot of time to play the game or so.
But ok, here I am with a new update. This update shows you the City of Erhaven. It is a rather small city which is surrounded by farms and fields. I'm not that good at doing those fields and so on - but I'm improving (in my opinion).
Hope you like it anyway and sorry for that rather small Update, but as I said... I had not much time.
And if you want to see a few pictures of my trip you may want to click here:

Hope you liked this Update (even though it was rather short). Criticism, especially on the farms and the fields are appreciated ,

Fabian

danielcote: Thanks a lot, Daniel :). New writers in this MD are always welcome.
art128: Arthur, thanks a lot for your constructive criticism - adding some trains to the hall sounds like a fantastic idea. However, I once added those overhead lines but the pack I downloaded only included overhead lines  for one, two, four and five rails, but not for three rails somehow?! I don't know, I might have to look at it once again .
joelyboy911: Yeah :D. I think a mirrored picture looks way more real; maybe because of the angle. Well, I try to follow the tips given in that other thread. I hope to fix it soon ;).
BarbarossaS: Thank you, Stijn - glad you like it :).
Sciurus: Thanks a lot Guillaume :). To the catenaries: As I've already written to Arthur, I can not find catenaries for three rails, somehow and I somehow have problems placing diagonal catenaries in the center of my city. But I agree with that missing train: I guess (after looking at it again) it would have looked better ;).
rooker1: Thanks a lot, Robin ;). I really appreciate your nice comment and I'm glad that you like it :).
sumwonyuno: Thanks a lot :). I guess I have to try it out - until now I had not time to try it out &mmm.
Tomas Neto: Thanks a lot Tomas :), for being the 100 poster - it is really appreciated.
silentbreaker: Thanks :)! It's always great to read your comments here - I'm glad you like the recent mosaic. Maybe it might look odd (the rails cutting thorugh the city) but I somehow think that it's easier to control and it might add a little bit more detail to the city. However I guess that is just a question of taste .
jimbo_jj: Thanks a lot James - glad you like it :).
Earth quake: Thank you ;).
djvandrake: Thanks a lot, once again. It's great to hear that you like it :).
Battlecat: Glad you like it, thanks! I recently saw a region picture of yours - I must say, I'm impressed of the way you put those fields together. There's a real "flow" in it (if you can say that). I hope I can learn something from it, since I'm currently working on some rural areas ;).
Yan077: Thanks a lot :). Your comment is really appreciated since you really know what the word "real" means in SC4 .

Delecto

Superbe update Fabian, you know well what the word realism wants to say! :shocked2:

Well your initial farms certainly look great!  Nice update all around here, that's a great park as well.  Looking forward to seeing more.

I've found with rural areas that it helps a lot to avoid huge numbers of perfectly square farms.  A few is fine since they are the prefered shape by farmers and it is very realistic, but there are hundreds of things that cause the edges of farms to be rounded or curved as you've done in your last update!  Lots of trees helps things out as well!

djvandrake

I really like your first pic with the trains next to the industrial buildings.  Very nice.  &apls

The park in the following pics is well done too.

art128

Excellent update, Fabian. That small town is really well done. I like that park around the houses, it give to the city a bit more of life and realistically. Also, nice work with the fields, they looks quite nice IMO.. But maybe try to use diagonal fillers to make the edges smother. Anyway, good work ! And don't worry about not updating, school is more important that SC4 (or other games.) !  ;)
Take care,
-Arthur.
I'll take a quiet life... A handshake of carbon monoxide.

Another splendid Update.
The first picture is really splendid, the industrail ambiance is really very well recreates and the second and third pictures are really wonderfull and original, especially with the utilisation of the new bats of MattB325, beside I love this small park in the middle of pictures.
The 4th picture is simply beautiful and resemble perfectly in an  European suburbs.
Finally, the  transition of the suburbs and and the campaign is really superb and successful. &apls

Brown, dark green and gray are dominant colors in these pictures.  It's not that I don't like the colors; Erhaven seems more of a sad city.

Just a wonderful update you've done it Fabian, I'm still a fan of your city, ans as soon as I see your images, I want to do the same in my region, but not as easy we could think! :D
For the catenaries, just ask me for links: Here ;)

Hi Fabian!

Sorry that I haven't been around lately but my small one together with the village competition at simforum.de kept me rather busy ...

I do love these pictures. I associate a kind of seventies feeling of the Ruhrgebiet with them.

Nice station on the first picture - and a nice example how to connect freight tracks with side tracks for storing cars!

Great park - I am sure I have the same or similar park somewhere on my harddisk(s) but never was able to use it half as nice as you did. And finally the fields and their borders - so basic so great!

Keep on that great work!

Bernhard

silentbreaker

Beatuiful little town! &apls I like its suburban feeling - and I'm a fan of the park you used there ;D
Your farms are quite nice looking, although I don't really llike the maxis farms and use them only in combination with custom farms - however adding trees is always a good idea , although I would recommend to use a broader variety of trees.  ;)

PS: Did you enjoy the Festival of Lights?

io_bg

Great work on the latest update! The rail yard on the first pic looks wonderful as well as the suburban area! The small park on the second pic fits really well into the surroundings! Looking forward to more!
