Hey Its Titanicguy1912 from YouTube. Yes my Sc4Devotion screen name is Dac1996, my initials. Well to those of you who do not know how to create a custom airport please go to these links. YouTube is free viewing, but you must create a YouTube account to post a comment there or tell me what you think of them here. I am also open to constructive criticism about my tutorials.  Well I certainly hope you like them.   ;)

Please note that the last one might plagiarize PLT for I based it on his written airport tutorial.

The Runway video has been updated so please read all of the annotations I have inserted.  $%Grinno$%

Thank you, Dac!
I know the AC Team for quite a while has been planning a step-by-step tutorial.
However, your YouTube tutorials tell a lot more than any written tutorial with pictures...

Dac1996

Aw thanks I have been thinking about trying to get the AC team to review them for a while. Maybe I should tell them about this forum.

Maybe I should tell them about this forum.

You just did... I'm a member of the AC Team as well... :)

Oh hey thats awesome I really admire your projects (Especially RMIP-3) Thanks again for your kind words   ;D

Hello, RippleJet said you'd like someone in AC to take a look at your videos. It's your lucky day - I'm the guy who made the RMIP-2 series, so I can be of the most help. Meaning, I'm the one who can pick these apart without even opening the regs ;)

The videos are clear and well-done, and would be very helpful to custom-airport newcomers. I especially like the taxiway examples (across several of the videos). However, assuming we want to build with accuracy regarding real-world standards, the runway portions need several updates.

Precision Runways
Approach Lights: sequenced lights much farther behind the Threshold (43 tiles separation); the SSALR itself closer (10 tiles).
This ensures the sequenced lights end without continuing onto the runway.
Blast Pad: RWY 9 should have a normal Blast Pad, rather than the Displaced Threshold type Blast Pad as illustrated.
Designator: no centerline dashes before the number, place it immediately after the piano keys, then the two no-skid sections.
First 2-stripe TDZ marking: only 6 tiles separation
The goal is to have the beginning of each marking 500 feet/10 tiles apart.
The Aiming Point takes up 4 tiles -- so there's only 6 tiles to fill.
All remaining TDZ markings if any* have 8 tiles separation as noted in the video.

*There is a special restriction on TDZ markings. There has to be separation of several thousand feet between the TDZ markings of opposite runway ends, to prevent pilot confusion. There's a table in the Vol.1 readme for this. Displaced areas and blast pads don't count toward runway length.

Nonprecision runways
Aiming Point: 2 tiles farther down the runway (1000 ft/19 tiles from the threshold)
   BP >> TH. (3 tiles) >> Desig. (2 tiles) >> no markings (14 tiles) >> A.P.

Taxiway video
TDZ markings issue as above - just a guess that for this size runway, the US rules allow two 2-stripe TDZ markings.

whole-Airport video
- same ALS and BP placement issues as the runway video.

I don't want to sound too critical and put you off doing these, they are a great idea. But I'd like people to get the right information.

Please continue if you'd like to do more -- we will have more new things soon

Hey thanks for reviewing them Voltaire, I didn't think someone that high in rank would view them! :) And thanks for the pointers, no you did not sound critical at all. I'm really glad someone told me of my mistakes. When I have the time I will update my tutorials. Thanks again! :))
