...a graphical, study displaying row-house life, presented with whimsy and the everyday, well done  :thumbsup
the renderings turned out so well that it could be a photographic presentation as well  ???   :)

This is really a service to the city.  Have you thought about sending this stuff to the Sun or Citypaper?

Anyways, These renders can show just how accurate these houses are to people in case they don't know.  Even though a white young adult with two dogs in BelAir-Edison doesn't exist.

Subtle details I noticed and love:
The brick wakway from the sidewalk to the from stoop.
The beautiful streetside garden array.
impressive slope detail used in the porch roof line and at the end of the brick walkway.

OK, after a lot of RL issues and distractions, I've tentatively decided to get back into BATting after being inspired by the jaw-dropping progress in Debussyman's thread (we'll see how much BAT I remember)! :D

I haven't forgotten about the Charles Village rowhouses...

...which I plan to do in several paint and material schemes, but for the time being I've set that aside to work on a courtyard block-style building, McMehen Place. The architecture was inspired by a real Queen Anne rowhouse in Baltimore's Bolton Hill neighborhood, but I decided to modify several features to turn it into a 2x2 R$$/R$$$ building for the game. I wanted to make it look a lot more like one of those crazy-romantic (and kinda spooky) Victorian buildings with turrets, towers, portals, bays, etc.:

The form of this block is kinda going to be like the "Mietskaserne" in (prewar) Berlin and other Central European cities - there will be a little courtyard in the middle - but it's actually going to be made up of traditional rowhouses rather than apartments.

Detail of upper balconies:

Detail of entrance portico:

Plan view footprint of what the completed block will look like (I'm only modeling a small section and then mirroring it over to get the full block):

What's left to do:

1.) What will eventually be the central bay (the currently-blank gabled wall in the middle of the block with the line running down it) will contain an arched portico leading to the central courtyard, kinda like this:

2.) I plan on adding another bay window (?), tripartite attic window, and ventilation grille above the portico.
3.) Chimneys, roof flashing, and roof junk still need to be added.
4.) The facades facing the courtyard still need to be modeled.
5.) The courtyard itself still needs to be modeled.
6.) Cast iron railings need to be added to the stairs, and perhaps some ornamental burglar bars over the basement windows.
7.) The steep gable roofs need to be finished.

I've also thought about converting a RL market hall proposal (Cross Street Market) into a BAT, but that would require stripping out a lot of interior details (I had to model and render this building in sections; there's no way I could get the whole thing in 3dsmax and export it unless I drastically simplified the meshes). But it'd be cool to have another market hall for SC4:

That's some really exciting stuff and I'm particularly interested in that market hall  &apls  There's certainly a need for something like that and it's a beautiful building!

Thanks for the warm comments, everyone! Jack Wilds, those renderings were just portfolio fillers.  ;)

So I've finished the modeling and imported the whole thing into 3dsmax:

Now I can start the texturing and nightlighting! This BAT will fit on a 2X2 lot and will be R$$$. I'll probably include an R$$ version too since, depending on the city, ornate architecture like this can often filter down to the middle class.

Shame that so little of the courtyard will show up in SC4; I love how it looks in Rhino:
