Marcszar's BATs
« on: March 24, 2007, 07:42:43 PM »
Hi everyone! This is where I will showcase my BATs under construction and where you can post comments, suggestions, and feedback. Problems with my BATs on the LEX can also be reported here.

So here is my latest project- a replica of a warehouse found in Brooklyn:

(Right now it's still in the Rhino stage. ;) The tentative lot size is 7 by 4, so yeah, this'll be a large warehouse! )

Also, I have done a major update to my old Palast der Republik. Along with nightlights, new textures, and modeling tweaks, it now also has a custom query sound of "Auferstanden Aus Ruinen." This BAT is completed and is in testing right now, so it'll be on the LEX soon!

very nice, this will make a great industrial building. BTW, I love you sign...I think that the sign you did while back for Domino Sugar is one of the best I've seen in the game.

Very nice.

Such a large warehouse will be ideal for large docking or downtown industrial area's. I like the monumental proportions wich go very well with a severe art deco style. Will you stick to the original or change the model if you see fit?

BTW: I really like your brewery, I use it whereever it fits in my cities.

Gecko- Thanks! There aren't enough civic buildings for SC4. Come to think of it, there aren't enough buildings of any genre for SC4!

Iamgoingtoeatyou- Thank you! See below for an update.

Hableurg- Thanks!

Sebes- Yep, I think it is an improvement too! I'm also considering whether I should go back and redo the low-wealth apartment sets and release them as one new set.

Yoder- Thanks! Actually, I thought the Domino's sign came out a little too faded in the day view. (It's kinda hard to read the lettering on it.)

Strechnitz- Thank you! I've made a few changes, such as adding fire escapes, ducts, piping, the sign, and other details not present on the actual building. The ground floor is completely different since the RL version looks like it is now a parking garage. Also, I've left out those wheel symbols on the deco towers (you can see them in the actual picture in my top post) which clash too much with the otherwise rigidly angular art-deco architecture.

Rooker- Thank you!

JB- Thanks! Actually, I didn't like the double-stacked text on the old sign so I changed it to be all on the same line, which is more typical of industrial advertising.

Irfox- Thanks! I intend on doing so, unless RL projects eat me up!

Sim Shady- I suck at gmax, actually. :D Really, all I can do is texture, add lighting, and move/scale things around. I literally can't create any objects in it- gmax/3dsmax is awkward and backwards in modeling in comparison to Rhino. I don't think of myself as a good warehouse batter, but thanks for the compliment!

Spa- Thanks! BTW, when are you going to show the progress on the CBC Centre? I'm getting impatient there!  :D

Below is a screenshot of my progress so far. Due to a large amount of unexpected free time, I finished the modeling in Rhino and imported it into gmax. Now comes the texturing part! I also realize I may have to scale up the building a bit and stretch it vertically to reduce the squashed effect.

OMG............that looks incredible.  What colour will the brick be and will you be making this building look very old and dirty?  That's what I would perfer, if I can offer my opinion.  It looks like the ground floor might have some stores?  If so will you be adding names of stores to the awnings?

Hey Marcszar, this is an amazing warehouse...I was wondering if you could make the lot verstile so one could put it in a commerial district as well....So like different versions? I dunno, a suggestion that would be nice to see as a reality. &apls

Hmmm... looking at the real picture , as at your excellent BAT , this is really looking more than just a warehouse .... $%Grinno$%
At least in Europe it would be . :P
I agree with Rooker1 about awnings and baconrocky about the suggest on a commercial version . I love japanese urban malls and your BAT can really compete with them... if you decide to . ;D
I agree too with the fact it needs to be a bit stretched vertically .
I will follow the destiny of this BAT . ;)
