hi all, i recently tried to bulldoze 1 of the schools (parkside) from JBsimios great school pack 1 and it wouldnt bulldoze. there is no building model on the lot (which is complete with textures/props) and if i plop another of the same school, it is normal and i can bulldoze it with no problems.  ive tried the old put a road/buildings around the lot and try to bulldoze but its no good. on a side note, i have this happening in the same city with a 1x1 filler tile, it wont bulldoze either (both lots are far apart).
this is getting on my nerves now..im stumped! any help would be great.

Try blowing it up with a disaster... or perhaps obliterate...
The most astounding and unique aspect of the human race is our fervent application of our ingenuity to kill each other, thus completely defying the near-universally proven fact that the ultimate goal of a member of a species is to ensure the survival of the species.

thanks flame. i just tried the meteors and no go. i also tried lowering/raising the terrain around it and....no go.  its a fortress! hehe.  id rather just build around it than obliterate. i was wondering though...perhaps JB consolidated his models into 1 mega file and i have since updated these prop packs and the models dont match up?  i really have no idea.

As far as I am aware, the model files for the schools should be contained in their individual packs. The 'Immortal Lot Syndrome' thing as it is called is discussed briefly here and here, but as far as I can tell there hasn't been a guaranteed, documented solution for it (though I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong). Assuming you haven't tried to edit the lot, I'm not sure what would cause it, but I would recommend trying Andreas' suggestions mentioned in the second link.

thanks a lot 3stooges! i finally got the lots demolished. i followed andreas suggestions and it was the diagonal road piece that finally pulled throught.  thanks again.

I took a thorough look at JBSimio's Parkside Elementary School,
both the one available at LEX and the older one available at STEX.
None of those suffers from the immortal lot syndrome though.

The fact that you had the school building disappear would instead indicate
that a neighbouring lot has an overhanging building giving it the immortal lot syndrome.

When a building's occupant size overhangs the lot edges, it might "overtake" neighbouring lots.
The query of such a neighbour would instead show that of the overhanging building,
and after a while the building itself on the affected neighbour would disappear, just as you reported.

Your reference to a filler lot and a "diagonal road piece" would indicate that you
have a diagonal filler and that this is the lot suffering from the immortal lot syndrome.
Would you have some more information on that one, so that we could correct it (if possible)?

well what i had was the parkside school lot (the building disappeared) which wouldnt demolish.  i also had a 1x1 concrete tile filler (which i made for my own use) which was in the same city map but very far away from the school since the school was in a res. area and the concrete tile was in an inudstrial area. neither could be destroyed by anything until i followed an idea that andreas gave here:  http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=1494.msg42897#msg42897

so what worked for me was plopping down the nam diag. street puzzle piece next to both lots. as soon as it was plopped, the diag. street overlapped each of the lots and they were destroyed. i hope this clears things up.
im not sure why it happened. i have used both lots before and after this problem with no glitches at all.

The models for each school building were left separate and have never been merged into a mega pack.  (I don't see this ever changing either, to be honest)

As for what is causing the issue, I'm honestly not sure.  I know I've never had similar problems with any of the school packs, and according to Ripplejet's post it doesn't seem to be an issue with the Parkside lot anyway.  Perhaps the culprit is something directly "next door" to the school as Ripplejet suggested?  Your 1x1 filler lot may just be coincidence if it was that far away.  More information concerning what else was nearby would probably help narrow things down.  I'm glad you were at least able to temporarily clear things up anyway... ;)

thanks JB.  honestly, im not sure what caused the problem either. ive never had a problem (past or present) with your lots before, or anyone elses for that matter, so i just think there may have been something wrong with the city tile. unfortunately, i cant remember what was next door now since most of the city was bulldozed to be rebuilt.  im sure it was some kind of res. growable next to the school and perhaps other concrete fillers next to my own lot.
thanks for dropping in on this and im looking forward to your next school, it looks amazing!
