Oh, I don't know what its called exactly, but there is a fog effect in the lot editor that would'nt make the waterfall look still.

I don't remember the prop name, but it is used in Peg's waterfall lot.  I made a conversion from his river/lake set to the in-game water with two versions.... one with more mist and one with less:

http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=13938

For the second transition, I halved the number of instances where the mist prop existed... and really all I did was move where the props were from Peg's set to my modification from being at the "bottom" of the middle tile of his 1x3 waterfall lots to being more in the middle so that most waterfall transitions would have the pond water "hitting" the in-game water at the approximate spot.

For a transition such as this, you might need to play around with the lot editor with a prop such as that to see where it looks the best.

And I'm not sure if that prop is an in-game prop or if it was created by Peg.  If it was created by Peg, then it needs to be noted as such, and you may want to ask him for permission.  The original lot is HERE:  http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=12329&v=1

I have a feeling this may be an original prop, though... from one of the power plants.  I simply can't remember and don't have time to check right now.  I will when I have a chance though!

All effects are Maxis ones....
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it

Well, there ya go!

I do not think that I phrased my other post right...  Let me try again...

I think that this transition looks AMAZING, better even than I had imagined it could be!  It really looks true to the originals from those pics I posted!

The only addition I would make would be what I posted in the last post... the spray effect, which we now know IS a Maxis effect.  I will see if I can figure out which one it is for you, because I think this will accomplish two very important things.  First off, it will give some actual motion to the area where we want motion.  Secondly, it will cover up a bit the static bit of the bottom, which simulates the flow of water as well as can be done with a static creation, but has certain limitations.

All in all, amazing work!!  I cannot wait to see this in game!!

Thanks at all both !

Are there anything to change before exporting ?   ()what()

sithlrd98

I did have a question that I should have asked in my prior post. Since you have already done these models , how difficult would it be to make the canal walls modular like a seawall? I have seen similar in RL , but yet to see them in SC4.

Looking lovely with the spill ways. Any chance in a update or future installment that you will make a spillway that uses the Cal Canal water texture that has the reflections by the canal walls? &apls
