Hmmm... I seem to have disappeared... again!!!  Feel free to yell   :angrymore: chastise  "$Deal"$ and maim   ()testing()  as you see fit.  At the risk of sounding like a broken record (since broken CDs just don't really play anyway) I'll offer my apologies one more time on the off chance that y'all have even a tiny shred of faith left in my ability to post more than once every six months.   ::)

Anyway, I'm actually on a break from work as we speak (type and read?) so I wanted to get back into some things here.  (In case you're curious to know just how far behind I am, let's just say I'm aware of the new NAM but still haven't had a chance to download it!)  I can't really make any progress on the building shown above because it's stuck on my computer at home and I'm not there right now!  I was in Los Angeles last week and am now back with the family in Michigan, but I forgot to move that building to my laptop.  So, in the meantime, I thought it was about time to finish up some older projects.

Perhaps you recognize these?

These are three (of a definite eight) corner buildings for the FAB series.  Last time I showed these, they were incomplete and not textured... now they're done.  Eventually, I want to have two buildings for each of the four situations:  Outside corners Right and Left as well as Inside corners Right and Left.  Hence the eight choices.

You may be wondering what happened to the FAB models that don't sit on corners.  They are still coming, but I think I'm going to change my plan for how I go about them.  Rather than fill the menu with a gazillion (which is a lot, by the way) different lots for all situations, I'm going to take a prop family approach and make multiple store fronts to fit on the same buildings.  That way, I can just make 1, 2, 3 tile wide lots facing right or left and that will be it (mostly).  The rest will be random store fronts to make up the variety.

Anyway... that's where things stand for now.  More on these next time.  Until then, I wish everyone the merriest of Christmasses!!!

great news that youre back again.  the FAB buildings look great and using prop families is a great idea, rather than having a gazillion (yes, that is a big number!) lots.
keep up the great work, merry christmas, and i look forward to seeing what comes next.

6 months or whenever Jon, it's good to see you back at it; besides 6 months of dust really hasn't done anything to hurt the product. I'd almost forgotten about these, but it will indeed be nice to see them in the game. Hope you stay warm back up there. Merry Christmas.

Wow, i did really remeber them!

I like the progresses, but there are some things i'd like to point out:

First building from top:

-You might want to work on the bitmap youve used on the roof of the first building from top.
Right now the bumps, discolorations, stains etc. are a little bit too noticeable.
Maybe a darker bitmap would fit better, and provide some nice contrast with the (relatively) light brick facade of the building.

-Speaking of the bricks of the first building, maybe it would be a good idea to add some contrast there. If the fact that the roof is "a roof" is too noticeable, the bricks have the opposite problem.

Second building:

Very nice building!

-In which material is it's facade clad? Bricks? Stone? Plaster? personally i can't tell.
-The flashing fascia at the top of the building- did you texture it or is it still untextured?
If the first option is the right one, then it looks a little bit too saturated, and it kinda stands out too much.
-The roof has the same problem of the roof of the first building...it seems too small for this type of building, and the roof cracks are way too noticeable.
-Are you really sure that that kind of large entrance would stand there right below the corner curve?
Maybe some smaller bays would be (more probably) used there...

Oh, and would you mind to consider making a taller version of it? Maybe it could match with the tall, non-corner FAB building you've shown when you started this set of buildings.

Third building:

The flashing fascia stands out too much a bit too much- i think it is the same situation found in the 2nd building. If it is textured, you might try to tone down it's saturation.
The stains on the roof might be a little bit too noticeable, and maybe the roof itself could be made lighter or darker.

I really like those buildings, and i'm glad you returned working on them.
