Additional pedmall tiles

Recently deadwoods released DEDWD NAM PMT Bike Paths that use pedmall pieces and matching pedestrian-enabled lots to form really useful pedestrian access routes. He also has had some plans to add pedestrian access to the BSC parks when they are revised. Sims ought to be able to cut through the park.

What would really help in the development of this kind of network would be an additional NAM subfolder called "Additional Pedmalls". This could be used like the "Additional Bridges" folder. Users could create custom pedmalls to go with matching pedestrian-enabled lots and add them by putting them in the new subfolder.

Is this possible? What do you think?

The problem is that Deadwood's paths doesn't add pedmalls at all, it overrides the Mountain Trail set with a much more useful set.

Any additional pedmalls are impossible without adding them to the NAM in the first place, in which case they'd be included and any custom one would again have to be an override.

Pedmalls are a Puzzle Piece which is statically set in the controller, Bridges are set in the Bridge INI which works very differently.

This is also the reason why the remaining SAM overrides (7, 10-16) haven't been activated by any mods, because you have to modify the controller for them to show up and be usable (and that stinks of incompatibility). Simply dropping in the files isn't enough.

We are always open to including good transit-related content though. Deadwood's system probably won't get included as it overrides a preexisting system that few people use anyway, but if someone makes one that needs its own pedmalls set, if you make the textures, paths and PPs, we'd most likely be more than happy to include it (for compatibility reasons).

Thankyou for your reply. I see that this is much more complicated than it appears on the surface.

I think, if Deadwoods updates the BSC Parks and makes them pedestrian enabled, that the NAM could use matching 4-way, three way "T", straight, and turn pedmalls that match the park paths. This would enable large fully-pathed BSC parks to be created in almost any configuration by alternating lots and pedmalls.

Is there a limit to the number of pedmall tiles that can be included in the NAM?
Could the pedmall tiles reference the same BSC park textures?

The other thing that's been under consideration for awhile now is making a draggable pedestrian trail system out of the BSC Parks.  I did a rough prototype awhile back, and would like to revisit it at some point.

There is a good deal of interest in expanding pedestrian functionality in the NAM Team right now, and we'll probably begin tackling that in earnest after our next release cycle.
