Tutorial: Wide Medians for NWM MAVE-4 and MAVE-6

This will guide you through the process for making one tile wide medians for the Network Widening Mod's MAVE-4 and MAVE-6.

What you will need:

  • NAM (Network Addition Mod) for Windows|Mac
  • NWM (Network Widening Mod) for Windows|Mac
  • A median for your 3 tile wide avenue (one tile wide median (anything will do))

Step One:

  • Place a MAVE-4 or MAVE-6 starter piece (in this case, MAVE-6).

Step 2:
  • Extend one side of the MAVE-4 or 6 at least 7 tiles out from the starter piece. If you extend it out less than that, this won't work. When you're done, it should look like the below image:

Step 3:
  • Bulldoze the other side of the MAVE-4 or 6 that you did not extend out 7 tiles( I can not stress that enough).
When your done, it should look like the below image:

Step 4:
  • Place another MAVE-4 or 6 starter piece. Make sure that the white square that shows up when your placing the starter piece is right next to the other segment of road when you plop the piece. If it isn't, you will get an undesired result and you will have to bulldoze and start this step over. When your done, it should look like the below image:

Step 5:
  • Extend the outer side of the MAVE-4 or 6 at least 7 tiles out from the starter piece. Again, if you extend it out less than that, this won't work. When your done, it should look like the below image:

Step 6:
  • Bulldoze the other side of the MAVE-4 or 6 that you did not extend out 7 tiles (this will be where your median goes).
When your done, it should look like the below image:

Result:
  • As you can see, your new wide median avenue is compatible with all network types (only some were shown here, though).

Medians:
  • As you can see, you can use all sorts of custom content for medians for your new avenue. Even Maxis parks work, too. You can use anything from parks to plottable trees to canals. You can even place bus stops and subway stations if you wanted. The possibilities are nearly endless.

There are more picturs here. See the first reply on the linked page.

That's the end of this tutorial. Post any questions, comments, and suggestions below that you may have.

I'm guessing the Ave/wideAve intersection does that blackspot thing anyway due to its unrealism?

Its a pretty awesome trick, thanks for sharing :)

Neat trick. I'll store this away in the memory banks for when such a need comes up.
