Hey everyone,

I feel as though this is the best place to share a new project I am working on: showing how I build a city from scratch in real-time. It will be a Youtube 'Let's Play' type video series... So It doesn't really fit with the Mayor's Diary theme (besides I already have one of those). People have been asking me to do something like this for years, and I have finally caved and decided to do it :).

So these entries will be pretty basic I'm thinking. There will be a video embed with maybe a picture or two. Not really a standard MD style so I feel as though Other Projects is the best place to share my work with the SC4 Devotion Community.

Anyways, here is part 1. I really do hope you enjoy this series, as it's going to be a massive undertaking on my part :P

Oh, and this can be interactive too! If you have any suggestions or general comments about what I'm doing, feel free to share them! :D

Parts 2 and 3 are up now. They focus on inter-regional connections.

Interesting. Good job on the interchange and the bridge.
Let's face it, we all Mayors have met the invasion of Failure in SimCity 4.

This time I focus on building a large parclo interchange. It's a big part, but a big junction!

Awesome! I like long videos. This part will surely keep me entertained.  ;D

Guess what? I'm finally starting to make the city now! These parts finalize the work on the highway interchange and show initial zoning and road layout of a city.

I'm pretty sure the interchange is complete now (slip ramps added)

Also I built this snazzy underpass by raising rail 7.5m and sinking the RHW 7.5m. (15m total)

I'm also almost ready to start the simulation!

I was keeping up and then got side-tracked, I know what I'll be doing at work during the lunch break today   :)

You are already past 60 episodes for your "Building a City From Scratch... in Real Time" program.

I am curious, since I have never "subscribed" in YouTube before, but have been watching since #1 aired...

Can one subscribe to just this series, or must it be the whole channel?

Will YouTube notify for any new episodes you upload in this series or anything you upload to your channel?

Thanks! A subscription will notify you whenever someone produces a new video, but you don't have to watch it. Nearly all my vids are SC4 based, with nearly all of those being part of this series.

I've returned to this series after a bit of absence. To kick things off I did a tour of the city before I resumed building.

I've always enjoyed these sort of let's play things. Gives a nice insight into the steps necessary to create what we normally only see as a finished product. Also, neat that you had that screenshot "borrowed" by the BBC for their article.

Nice work! Congrats on being OSITM.
