Title: PLEX files from SimPeg
Post by: catty on January 07, 2016, 11:56:28 AM

When SimPeg went down it left the question as to whether the PLEX files existed anywhere else and if so what was the new download link for the files.

As I had an up-to-date list of what was on the PLEX when it went down, I have started a new Index list over at CB documenting where the PLEX files can now be located, its a work in progress, even more so given the number of times Simtropolis has been down the last week, hopefully it will turn out that all the files now have new homes, if not then the PLEX staff over at Simtropolis may need to be contacted and decisions made, but in the meantime, the new PLEX Index list can be found here

This is an excellent resource. I'm assuming though it's only those files on the actual PLEX exchange that got saved? Sadly many great little items were attached in Paeng's threads that I fear are lost forever.

Still, hopefully it will be easy to spot the gaps and try to bring missing content to the STEX using this useful guide. I already know of a few links that are missing, I'll send you a list with some links of the ones I know.

I've been asked by a number of people about the forum attachments, and while they may be gone for ever, I am now in the process of indexing Paeng's website just have to add Krio's files to it and then uploaded that to the documents area ... so maybe some of those forum attachments will still be available on his site ... no guarantees   :)

Do you need people to send you the missing files?

I still have my absolutely vast uncompressed plugins folder and I'm sure I've loads of SimPeg stuff in there

Do you need people to send you the missing files?...

The one thing about cataloguing other sites file exchanges you end up downloading an awful lot of zipped files ... 28gb worth so far, so apart from the forum attachments, I'm pretty certain I will have all of the PLEX files with their readme's and any pictures that were included in the zips.

But until I'm finished re-cataloguing the PLEX files again I've no idea if any of them would be required, I know a couple of them so far aren't on any other site I can find and one is dependency to something else that's on the STEX (unfortunately in both of those cases their creator has long since vanished from the SC4 world) and another one is now on the STEX after I asked its creator about it as someone on my site was asking where they could find it.

An update on how this is going the original PLEX list had 658 plugins on it, I've now located 532 of them and updated the URL to the new site, that leaves 127 which may or may not on another site, make that 126 as I've just located "Terring's Labyrinth by Paeng" its on the STEX as "Paeng & Terring - aMAZEd"

An update on how this is going I'm still unable to find 22 of RebaLynnTS files including this one

FiRE by RebaLynnTS

But checking back thru her posts she said this shortly before she stopped posting

Quote from: RebaLynnTS on May 26, 2011, 09:05:02 AM
antn: Thanks for the suggestions. I plan to implament as many as I can. The textures for each wall on every building is unique, and not tiled. I am not as good at textures, as I'd like to be, but I am always learning.

Buzzit: This set will be modular, so you can arrange it anyway you like.

As with all my creations, feel free to relot, repackage, and re-upload as you wish, just remember to give credit where it is due.

That being the case I will do a final search thru the SC4 sites then post a list of what's still missing in case anyone knows where its now located or as I've found during this search some of the files on the PLEX despite saying they were by someone in fact turned out to be by someone else on another site.

Those that are left I will upload to somewhere at CB in case people still need them (always assuming I have the file in question).

Looking into my archives, it seems that I still have a lot of the old PEGPROD ZIP files, and apparently, there are some of the items that you're looking for as well. Shall I upload them to some filehoster for you, or send them via e-mail?

That would be great ... the plan is to add the missing to a public download (no account necessary) area on my site exchange make it clear that if anyone objects or isn't happy to have the missing files available for public download the file or files will be deleted, I'll also delete them if they get uploaded to Simtropolis or here.

I'll send you a PM with the email address

Thanks for the files, Paeng's files are different in that unlike Pegasus and RebaLynnTS he is still active, but these days mainly on the Banished sites and he also has his own websites one for SC4 files and the other for Banished, so I have sent him a PM at Simtropolis regarding the files that he uploaded only to the PLEX I'm hoping once the new Banished version is released and CC1.6 is formally released as well (as it only works in the Banished beta) that he will be catching up with his PM's.

Hi Alan_Waters thanks for the file, most of these should be over at Simtropolis, but I'll go thru zip and sort it out later today

As for the missing files themselves I will upload them to here

https://city-builders.info/cbex?folder=PLEX%2BFiles

You will notice there is a folder called RebaLynnTS in it and it currently has the FiRE download in it as I know that's a file that quite a few people have been looking for as its a dependency file ... its a public download no account required

Hi Catty,

I do have a serious amount of the files you were looking for.
I don't have them zipped in their original form, so I send you the directories I have. Also several sets like MTP and Pier Set are such a mess that I decided to send you the whole directory including subdirectories. Hopefully you can find what you need.

Here they are: http://www94.zippyshare.com/v/N0kBZJx6/file.html

Happy hunting!

Well I'm still feeling a bit stunned when I tracked down Paeng on one of the Banished sites to ask him about his missing files I was hoping to get them uploaded on Simtropolis or failing that the same place I uploaded the other missing PLEX files I wasn't expecting this

QuoteFortunately most of my mods can still be found on ST (though their system shows holes too, due to numerous software updates, so some stuff is a bit hard to locate). Other than that, I have salvaged one set of files - mostly my tutorials, simposium stuff, some documentations and, yes - an assortment of scrabble box items (all these little forum attachments)... though understanding those and their mostly undocumented dependencies is probably rather... hardcore

If you have the energy to go through this, you are most welcome... you can download the whole bundle (~100Mb) here:

Feel free to re-package, bundle or re-distribute any of those things any way you may find useful... This permission is valid for ALL content I ever created and/or published anywhere - whatever you find, you can use any way you deem fit, no strings attached except for a small notice as to the origins.

If that helps anyone to fill in small gaps in their collections - wonderful! :big-grin:

* By the way - I also have a 60-item backup of Buildings by Krio - not sure if he is still active, let me know if you have use for this...

+++

Well, so much for wrapping up the past...

I'm going to see if I can track down Krio regarding his files

This does open up a lot of possibilities concerning his content though. :)

the "...so much for wrapping up the past" comment.

Well.... it kinda goes back to his closure statement:

QuoteDear (Simpeg) Friends,

quite some time has passed, and I feel you should have a small update on my situation...

As some of you know, I developed some heart problems about 2 years ago, and have been in and out of hospitals since... to make things short - during one of my operations I had a stroke, nothing really cruel, alas - it left some "bad sectors" behind. So during the last year or so I learned again to write (type) and tried to pick up some of the "missing links". Seems though that some of my logical sectors suffered - of all things, logic never being one of my strong suits... :roll-laugh:

So anyway - I just want to make it kind of "official"... I really doubt that I will return to modding, too large are some of the gaps, specially of things that are older than a year or two... And I doubt that I try and learn again all I used to know about SC and its assorted tools... I'm grateful I'm still alive, and that my sense for forms and colors has not suffered much, so I can still enjoy "juicy" images, even create them - a bit slower now, and on a somewhat smaller scale... but that's okay... :big-grin:

Right now I'm at a point where I do need some closure, some let-it-go... at the same time I start missing many of the good folks and the fantastic conversations we used to have. With some luck, and maybe a little help from our friends, some will find the way here... so at least we can reminisce a little... :winking:

When you talk to him it's not difficult to see that the poor guy really isn't the same since then.  :crytissue: He's not kidding about having holes where his sc4 knowledge used to be.  But he trusts Catty and knows the files are in good hands.  This is actually really unexpected and good news; I asked him for his documentation stack about 6 months ago but he couldn't find it due to a hard drive crash that he hadn't picked up the pieces from yet.

That was one of the things he mentioned in the rest of the PM, that and his health and the loss of SimPeg and he's very much into the Banished community these days, as for the files he's given me it looks like its a snapshot of what was on SimPeg so not all of the files are his, for instance in the Tutorials folder there is one tutorial ... I won't quote the whole thing but I think you will recognize it   ;)

QuoteKnow Your Terrain:  A simple guide to making the most of your terrain mod[/b]
~by Blunder

"If you know Heaven and know Earth, you may make your victory complete."
~Sun Tzu.  Art of War X:31

So why would you want to go messing around with your terrain mod?

To be honest this is a bit like going to your local store to buy a carton of milk and when you get there the shopkeeper gives you the keys to the shop, so I'm still a bit   :-\

As Krio is a member of my site and in fact has his own group on it, I've started off by sending him a PM at CB if I don't get a response then I'll try Simtropolis.

Hi Catty,

When you have time and have sorted out the PLEX files that were sent to you, will you then please put an update list of the files you still missing? I still have a lot of SimPeg stuff on my HD. I always tried to keep them sorted out and installed everything in the directories Pegasus released the files, but because of all the CDK, CSK, PPonds, edits, addons, retextures, re-released and overwrite files I guess it is kind of a mess these days.
Each time I start a new Pluingsfolder I have to fight this incredible mess in order to get the PLEX stuff the way I want it....
But I can probably provide some more for you.

Still feel kind of bad about contacting him though. I hadn't read his closing statement. My message from him was quite pleasant and I do wish he had it in him to continue in this community. He seemed very pleasant to work with.

Yeah personality-wise he's still the nice old guy we know and love, there's just this giant hole in his memory.  Don't feel bad about pestering him; he likes the personal interaction (please, no one take that as a green light to ask him for files. Everything he has is in the bundle that was given to Catty).  You can understand how it must be frustrating though to try and field questions that he knows he used to have all the answers to but now there's very little.  Here's another snipet from his banished site:

QuoteSorry to say, but my windows decided on a big meltdown not too long ago...

So between that and the small but pretty effective meltdown in my brain my SC4 slate has been thoroughly wiped...

:pullhair:
QuoteYeah, I miss them, too...

Then again, I'm glad that enough is left to keep going... :big-grin:
After my second stroke, I couldn't even write or type anymore, but after about half a year I had re-learned enough to continue... The third (and hopefully last) stroke took out all I knew about programming, scripting, gaming, some mobility, and maybe some I have not even missed yet... :worms:

Along came Banished, all new and fresh - it kinda picked me up at the right time, filling a void. So I'm really happy to have this little gem, along with some old friends... just right for my present energy levels. :winking:

Hi Guys

FrankU thanks for the offer ... Not sure what's still missing but will sort it in the next few days and then issue another missing list, now for the good news epicblunder now has a copy of all the files and documents that Paeng gave me and is going to start adding them to the most appropriate places at Simtropolis, in the meantime purely as a backup I have uploaded all the SC4 Plugin files to here

https://city-builders.info/cbex?folder=Paengs%2BScrabble%2BBox

Because I've no idea what some of them are or what dependencies they need I have made it registered user downloads ... for the time being anyway, if you download any of them don't be surprised if they have brown boxes.

I will eventually sort them out and as I do they will became public downloads.

As requested an up-to-date missing list   :)

Obviously I've now got all of Paeng files, except for one called SG Nimby Pack by Paeng not sure if its missing or under a different name as Paeng as relotted a number of SG models ... its going to be a while till I sort this all out.

Pegasus missing list I've still got to finish uploading the files I was sent by people, but these ones are still missing

PEG Military Aircraft Props - Volume 1 by Pegasus
PEG Modular Construction Units by Pegasus

Seasonal Tree - Southern Hemisphere Mod. by Pegasus

It may be they have been merged into a megapack, but without having access to SimPeg anymore its difficult to tell what the situation is with these files.

As for RebaLynnTS files these are what's still missing, but am not sure if she is the actual creator or just the person that uploaded them to the PLEX

Thanks catty and everyone else who's helped to restore what we can from SimPeg.

It's a pleasure to see the list is really quite small compared to where it was last year.

Can someone please issue a Karma Point to Catty for her continued efforts in this regard.

Thanks for the karma point its appreciated and yes it certainly looks like we are on the home stretch, its just a shame we lost all of SimPeg forum posts.

FrankU and Dublin thanks for the files, I'll upload them the first chance I get to the CBEX.

Taking a bit longer than planned, while Krio's files were never on SimPeg they were (and still are) on Paeng's SC4 site and are now on the CBEX

https://city-builders.info/cbex?folder=Krioworks

Will be going thru and adding pictures and descriptions and hopefully dependency information to the files, also Krio's Group is here

https://city-builders.info/cb-groups/item/44-krioworks

....took a slight side trip over to the Pictures Catalogue here

https://city-builders.info/catalog

and have been adding plugin file names to the over eighteen thousand pictures SC4 Plugin pictures stored here, unfortunately I can't say its been 100% successful as I'm still missing file names for 4320 of them, but 14397 of them do now have names ... so next time someone is rummaging thru the pictures and clicks on a picture then there is a good chance you will see something like this.

... back working on the simpeg, paeng and krio files

Thanks to Dublin providing the Cruise Ship Port files I now know these aren't Becca (RebaLynnTS) work, unfortunately none of the readme's contained a name, but after much rummaging around on the internet I'm reasonable certain the creator of these files is Pezzajn, because of this I haven't uploaded these files to the CBEX

Visitors to the site will notice that the CBEX files are moving around, so RebaLynnTS work is now here

https://city-builders.info/cbex?folder=Missing%2BRebaLynnTS%2BFiles

also as part of the description is RebaLynnTS missing files ... the Cruise Ship Port files are still listed here until such time as I can contact Pezzajn about these files always assuming he or she is still around to be contacted.

Final Note: Krio has given me permission to upload any of his work that isn't on the STEX to the STEX ... at this stage I'm still working out just what I do have on the CBEX so that will be sometime much later in the future.

I've just uploaded the SSDP package to the Plex on the STEX (http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/31162-paengs-streetside-diagonal-parking-ssdp/). Since Paeng has authorised his work to be re-uploaded, I'll try to get a few others up that I have noticed are missing too.

No he has passed his files onto me and given me the following permission where his files are concerned

Feel free to re-package, bundle or re-distribute any of those things any way you may find useful... This permission is valid for ALL content I ever created and/or published anywhere - whatever you find, you can use any way you deem fit, no strings attached except for a small notice as to the origins.

so I would appreciate you not uploading any more files especially as that file is already here

https://city-builders.info/cbex/download?path=Paengs%2BScrabble%2BBox%252FStreetSideDiagonalParking.zip

His files will all be going on the STEX but it will be organised between myself and the Simtropolis staff.

It doesn't look like they've been revived, there's still:
PEG Trail Park 2 - Add On Pack 1 by Pegasus
PEG Trail Park 2 - Boardwalk Style by Pegasus
PEG Trail Park 2 - Country Roads Add-On by Pegasus
PEG Trail Park 2 - Trail Blazer Edition by Pegasus
PEG Pier Rail Props by Pegasus,
Among others. I assume if there hasn't been any information on them recently then they're lost forever...

I think I have these two:
PEG PPond Swing Bridges by Pegasus
PEG PPOND Locks by Pegasus
Assuming those are for the artificial canals and not the natural ponds I have the individual files, but AFAIK not the zip files.

I also have this:
PEG OWW2 PierSet by Pegasus
Again, not the zip AFAIK. That's the basic pieces, correct?

I also seem to have these:
PEG Mountain Trail Head by Pegasus
PEG Mountain Trail Extender by Pegasus
Which don't have links on the list linked in the first post

Don't know about
PEG CSK Add-On 2: A Means to an End by Pegasus

EDIT: How up-to-date is this (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=17280.msg505692#msg505692) list, is it 1:1 with the link in the first post? I have the pier base pieces (so you can have more than one pier end and don't have to use boat passes for straights), the canal locks and swing bridge, and the random pine forests. It appears everything else will need a time machine, though...

EDIT2: Attached a zip with everything I could find in my plugins folder, except the pier set (otherwise it'll go over the maximum size limit)

EDIT3: Actually, I'm not sure these are the correct files. Be sure to let me know if I have anything you don't...

This shows that it's not easy to find everything.... Good that you mention these files.
I always thought Peg's uploads were a kind of mess. And they certainly are on my HD. Even while playing with them I am never sure if I have the correct files in my plugins.
It might be useful that I take another look at my HD and see if there is anything that could be added to the list.

For those people who have read the notice I put out about shutting down the city-builders website and are wondering what's happening with the PLEX files that never made it to the STEX we have started to upload them to here as people ask for them

https://community.simtropolis.com/files/category/63-files/

They may end up moving again later on to the STEX itself, the plus with uploading them to the club is the owner's name can be changed to the correct creator without needing to involve a simtrop moderator.

Hi!

Jodavis15!
Please read the following linked post, and you will find the answere to some of your question.

https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/75265-plugins-missing-from-the-stex/?tab=comments#comment-1698129 (https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/75265-plugins-missing-from-the-stex/?tab=comments#comment-1698129)

The Cs$$ and Cs$$$ Replacement Mod seem to be missing. I'll ask around if somebody has them.
The Horses by Peang and the Pond Park Family Resort by Paeng will be officially available soon, if I find the time to make the proper readme for them. Currently Catty-(CB) and I are holding the still unavailable files of Paeng and I'm the one who is cleaning them up and make the missing files available on STEX.

If by this you mean the MTP sets, I should have those. I took a complete download of the PLEX's main exchange and any file there should be in my stash. The forum attachments however are less easy to come by, but the most popular ones by Paeng we're all passed along to Catty if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, those are the MTP sets. And yes, I have the Paeng files in progress. Catty put them as they were (with or without readmes/pictures) under her club as attachments until I'll upload them one by one with readmes, updated links and images to the STEX. Then she'll remove the attachements from the posts.
At least this is the plan currently.
So yepp, that would be awesome if you have those files!
Thanks in advance!

I have a question.
I am installing my PEG files and am getting a little confused. There are version numbers on the files (100, 200, ect) and there are ones with letters at the end (205a, 205b, ect). Which ones am I supposed to keep?

And with files like the CDK, CDK2, CDK3 do I only keep the newest or are those more like volume numbers?

Thank you so much for the help.
Jo
Title: Re: PLEX files from SimPeg
Post by: Andreas on October 24, 2018, 06:00:05 AM
If there are version numbers, take those with the highest number, such as 200 instead of 100, or 205b instead of 205a. The letters indicate minor fixes, while the numbers might point out that little changes have been made to the lot(s), and it's probably safer to bulldoze and remove the old version before you install the newer one.

CDK, CDK2 and CDK3 are different sets, though, so you can use any of them as you like. Usually, the -2 and -3 releases are following the same concept, but have reworked or refined lots and models, more options and such, but the overall design is distinctive enough to keep all of them.

Bear in mind too that 205a / 205b could be indicative of different options, such as the non-transparent or transparent edges on Pond lots. Generally speaking everything else is based around the info outlined by Andreas, where a higher number is a newer version.
