Your link doesn't work. It gives me the ST error page.  &mmm

And I have a picture related question. When you scroll through the pictures, the screen goes wavy and moves in increments. Is this because the pictures are compressed? I'm just wondering, because I convert my pictures to 100% quality JPEGs and this doesn't occur looking at them.

That's a tall skyscraper.
Nice curvy roads! That area looks good for development.
The seawalls look good! They're a nice addition to the GTR's coastline.

caspervg:  Thanks!  Glad you like the seawalls and the HSR (bullet train in The GTR)!

Simpson:  Hey, thanks a lot!  "Incredible" RHW?  Wow!

Patricius Maximus:  Thank you very much!  You can find those blue signs on the STEX here:
http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=14554

XoX:  Thanks!  More personal creativity?  What do you mean?

deathtopumpkins:  Bah!  Sorry about the broken link!  The best thing to do now is just to search "bus" on the STEX.
-About my pictures, did you ever notice the "picture information" I post on every page?  It describes why they are like that.  Each image can be clicked to be viewed in their natural resolution (1920x1200).
-Oh, and glad you enjoyed the update!

JoeST:  As always, thanks for the comments!
-Ya I guess seawalls take a tile along the water, and due to the density along the waterfront, seawalls will be tricky to place.

bat:  Thanks a lot!  Glad you enjoyed this update!

Update Time!

Its time to take a ride in a time machine!  :o

In this update I am going to mix it up a bit and show some older photos of The Greater Terran Region.  See if you can compare some of these older pictures with some of the newer ones.

Picture Information:

This is a rare update where my "Picture Information" caption does not apply.  Sorry, but since these are older photos, only a select few will be clickable for full resolution.  And even that will not be what you are used to.

You will see a "Click me for Full Resolution!" in the caption if you are able to do so.

Also, I am sorry for the pause sign and the side bar in the photos.  Forgive me!

Pictures

Let's begin with a familiar one.  As you may recall, this intersection had the largest and worst accident in the region's history.  Here it is back when volumes were increasing.

Here is a shot of the "new" RHW leaving on of Escape's districts.  It provided good connections with the region.

This was an old stretch in Downtown when the city was young.  Today it has seen major upgrades and the use of the MIS.

One of the older pre-MIS interchanges used with one-way roads. Today, this interchange spans 14 lanes across at its widest.

Does this junction look familiar?

A part of this interchange still exists today:

One of the first modern Multi-RHW segments.  This was still an older version of the RHW and the MIS did not yet exist.

Anyways, that does it for now.  I hope you enjoyed this historical tour of the region!

Yeah, I read the picture information, I know they're compressed, I was just asking if that was why they caused the screen to waver.

Nice look back through the history of the RHW! I think I recognise some of those stretches of highway form their modern counterparts.

Hello everyone,

Sorry I haven't updated in a bit, RL is really killing me these past few days.  I don't have time to respond to your comments right now or post a new update, but I do have something interesting to show you.  Consider this a teaser:

This is a signature that Alafel and I have been working on.  Its nearly done, and I wanted to see if it can get a good reaction from everyone here.

My current signature is very old and is not very colourful (or photoshopped for that matter).  It shows an outdated RHW and texture set, and this region has so much more to show besides that highway.

Anyways, updating may be scarce here and there for the next little bit (I am a HUGE Olympic fan), and just know that I am still here and this MD is still on track.  It ain't dying!

Best.

-Glad you liked looking at the older pictures!

rushman5:  Okay...  I am glad you are enjoying it!

bat:  Thank you very much!

Patricius Maximus:  Thanks!  Yes it does seem not long ago!

No replies about the signature?
If possible, any feedback about the sig image would be appreciated!

Update Time!

Sorry I haven't updated in a bit.  The Olympics are just so good this year that most of my free time is spent watching it!   :P

However, I did get some time to configure a special Olympic update!  The next two updates will showcase some of the sports venues and stadiums in The Greater Terran Region.

Click the images for full resolution! (1920x1200.) See my picture information section on the first update of this page for more info.

Let's begin with The Greater Terran Region's very own Bird's Nest stadium.  Not nearly as large as the one in Beijing, but symbolizes the passion for sport.

The Water Cube if my favorite sports complex in Beijing.  It looks so great that I have constructed a number of them in the region.  They act as municipal aquatic centres.

This multi-purpose stadium has been built along the coastline:

A baseball stadium in Downtown:

A sports arena is inside this casino.  A lot of boxing/wrestling events take place here:

A smaller indoor football/soccer stad:

Track and field and tennis courts:

A basketball court is inside "Haljackey Square Gardens"

Another Water Cube and swimming complex along a multi-highway:

The region's primary sports stadium:

Well, that does it for Olympic update 1 of 2.  I hope you enjoyed it!

Best,
-Haljackey

Honestly, I don't really like the sig banner. The font doesn't look that great, and you can't really tell what's in the background.

Those are some cool stadiums! My favorites are the indoor football/soccer stadium, and Haljacky Square Gardens of course!  ::)

Great views there of the stadiums! That update looks wonderful!
Looking forward to the next, Haljackey! ;)

Simpson:  Thanks a lot!  Glad to hear you like the stadiums and parks!

deathtopumpkins:  Then it might be the load times.  My images are compressed, not resized, but their filesize is not reduced (some can be over 500kb).  To be sure, I would check out The Greater Terran Region @ Simtropolis (link in my signature) to see if you are getting the same problem there.
-Thanks for you input on the sig image!
-Glad you enjoyed the stadium showcase!

bat:  Wow!  Thanks, glad you liked the stadiums!  I hope you enjoy part 2!

Update Time!

Not too much to state here.  This is part 2 of 2 of the Olympic Showcase.  Enjoy!

Picture Information:

NOTICE:  Please Read!

Before I post some pictures of my cities, please know that I strive for the best quality of my images possible.  Every picture from here on-in is not photoshopped in any way, and is taken directly from the game to show you exactly what I see in the game.  The only editing done is converting the .PNG file to .JPEG.

***IMPORTANT***    Also, please know that my pictures are COMPRESSED, and are NOT RESIZED! When you resize a picture, a ton of the image's quality is lost, and is shrunk to comply with SC4D's picture size limits (800x600 STRONGLY recommended for MD's).  Compressing the image retains the quality, but looks terrible when squeezed to comply with site limits.

But, I have found a loophole in this problem.  Each compressed picture displayed will be linked to the actual uncompressed, true image.  All you have to do to view the image in its FULL RESOLUTION (1920x1200) is to simply click on the compressed image displayed in this Mayor's Diary (800x500).  The reason that the images are not 800x600 is because I present my pictures in widescreen (16:10 aspect ratio), making the image much more appealing for the human eye's stereoscopic vision.

If you have any questions or comments about how I display my images, feel free to post a reply.

I'll try that and get back to you.

More great stadiums.
This time my favorites are the baseball stadium and the round one-though it looks a bit too much like a golf ball if you ask me.  :D

I'm looking forward to more of the regular updates.

JoeST:  Hey, thanks a lot!  Always great to see you pop in!

Simpson:  Why thank you!  Glad you like the cities and the RHW!

deathtopumpkins:  All right.  Any luck?  It may have to do with the loading times.
-Glad you liked the stadiums!  Ya that one in the shape of a ball is weird, but it actually exists in RL!  I think its in Stockholm.

bat:  Glad you enjoyed part II!  Its always great to see you here!

Update Time!

Its time for an industrial update!  As stated in my introduction, I do not use a lot of industry in the GTR, and for good reasons.  However, there are areas where industry can fit, and function well.

In addition, I am really not the best with zoning and placement of industrial areas.  I just like something that works and looks good in the game.  You will not see a lot of realistic freight yards and the sort in this region, as I merely zone and see what grows.

Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy this industrial showcase!  If you know of a way to improve my industrial areas, please let me know!

Pictures
Click the images for full resolution! (1920x1200.) See my picture information section on the first update of this page for more info.

A fairly typical look at a industrial area in The GTR.  Good road and rail connections help keep freight times under control.

Industry along the basin:

Inner arteries:

I am not too sure why all the traffic is using one lane on this very busy avenue.  Also note the rail connections parallel to it.

Heading out of the area, we see how the infrastructure handles the increasing freight traffic:

Power plant and surrounding insustry:

The same picture, but at night.  I love the glow!

Rail overpass.  The rail system is grade separated in the GTR.  (Well, 99% of the time  :P)

Ferry Terminal.  The roads are very busy in this area.

Finally, I will leave you with a picture of this area.  I plan to totally reconstruct the roads and bullet train lines in the area to beef up capacity before the area is developed.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this update!

Best,
-Haljackey
