Title: New Updated Dependencies List ¡¡¡ ( Thanks to Diggis)
Post by: jeronij on August 11, 2007, 06:06:48 AM
Dear SC4Devotion member,

In a continous effort to make the site the most useful and comfortable for all of you, we have added a new updated dependencies list, gently provided by Diggis (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?action=modifykarma;sa=applaud;uid=391;topic=1932.40;m=57574;sesc=390f1664c97593518ebb45ad544b2411), which you can find at the bottom of any forums page.

This list will be updated as often as possible.

Interested?  Search for this link:

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/Themes/default_jrj/images/Deps_Link1.jpg) (http://www.sc4devotion.com/dependencies.html)

or this one ( depends on your forum layout)

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/Themes/default/images/Deps_Link2.jpg) (http://www.sc4devotion.com/dependencies.html)

I hope you find this feature useful. The Dependencies list in the LEX will be updated as soon as  possible  ;)

Again a BIG THANKS   to Diggis (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?action=modifykarma;sa=applaud;uid=391;topic=1932.40;m=57574;sesc=390f1664c97593518ebb45ad544b2411) for this huge effort and for sharing it with us

Indeed it is a huge job and I too would like to say thank you.  &apls

I have located some of the missing links:
BLS Farm Prop Pack Vol 01
BSC BAT Props Agart Vol 01
BSC BAT Props BLS Floral Vol 01
BSC BAT Props Don Miguel Vol 1
All above in BSC MEGA Props Misc Vol 01 which is here: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=426

BLS Housing Support Files posted here: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1035

BSC BAT Props RT Minecorp Vol 01 here: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=529

Schiffenberg Large Prop Pack
Schiffenberg Small Prop Pack
Both the above are in BSC MEGA Props KWK Vol01.dat which is here: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=626

The various vehicle and train props are gizmo's but I don't have a link to his site at the moment.

Wow, this is amazing!   &apls  This is wonderful to see an online version of this list, especially since the links did not work for me in the last downloadable version.  (Don't ask - Vista is weird about things like links to external sites.  It's nice of Microsoft to protect me from myself.   ()sad())

Here is the link to Gizmo's site:

Thanks, Diggis!  You ROCK!!!

Thanks to all ( specially Barby) for the links    ¡¡¡

Now the list is complete. All the links should be working. if someone does not, please report it here.

Btw, I am glad that you find this list useful  ;)  . It will really save tons of time  ;D

Looks good mate.  I do have one comment, there was a column in the excell file showing if it was part of a MMP, which I found usefull as it allowed users to see if the file they are downloading has been supersceeded, and by what, incase they have it.

And thanks for the extra links.  I think there are some new files up on the BSC LEX that are not in there.  I'll try to get it updated this week.

I had to remove that column because I thought there were links, and they did not work as links  ::)
Perharps the excel sheet went somehow corrupted, because I could not find any link in the MMP column  ()what()

If you can check this, and send me an updated excel sheet, I can add this information.

Btw, since I had to manually translate the excel sheet to understable HTML, when you update the sheet, I'd need to see quickly the files that have been added / updated, so you should add some sort of advice to the new files. Thanks in advance  ;)

I have also updated the LEX dependencies list with this one.

Awesome work Diggis!!  This will help the community in a BIG way.

Now, I have noticed a thing or two about this list.  There are a bunch of Prop Packs that have been merged into MEGA Prop Packs.  For example, all of the BSC SG, BSC MJB and most of BSC D66 Prop Packs have been merged into their respective MEGA Prop Pack.  Maybe on this master list there should be some notes about these updated MEGA prop packs and what is in them.  Or maybe after the link to an old Prop Pack put a note saying "This Prop Pack is now part of the BSC MEGA SG Prop Pack Vol 1"

Just a thought.

Jeronij, I had a think about that column, the link was to the pack as shown in the list.  If you click it in the Excell file it will take you to the packs name in the Excell file. (try it, best way to understand it) it also had a tool tip for the pack saying which one it was, which answers Jasons comment.

I'm not too up on HTML so not sure how to go about fixing this, but thats what information is in there.

Unfortunately, all this information is lost when you save it as html  &mmm ( and I simply cant imagine the time it would take to add it manually  ::)

A solution would be to add a link to a downloadable version of the interactive excel sheet in the dependencies page...  ()what()

Thats not such a bad idea as it allows the casual user to grab a dependency with out having to download the list, but allow users to download the list and mark off what they have downloaded.

Well, not necessarily  ::) . This is the most extense and comprehensive Dependencies list at the moment, but there is always something new that may be missing  ;) . I'd say it is a very good reference when you are looking for a prop pack, but I'd not say that all you need to download is in that list.... $%Grinno$%  ( it depends on what your needs are)
Title: Re: New Updated Dependencies List ¡¡¡ ( Thanks to Diggis)
Post by: Diggis on August 13, 2007, 05:15:40 AM
This is really just a list of where the available prop packs and texture packs are.  Given that a building off a lot can be listed as a dependency, it would be impossible to list every "dependency" as potentially every file uploaded is a "dependency"

I was wondering if anyone knew where garyreggae's garage block went? The link in T Wreck's Low Wealth Mega Lot Set Vol02 (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=15846) on the STEX points to here (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=14201) but it's not there nor in the list. Has it been merged into another pack or is it no longer available?

I got some brown boxes when the lots from T Wreck's pack grew in game, so I loaded the Lot Editor with just GAZ's Mega pack and the lots, and the prop for the garage block didn't show up.  The prop's footprint was defined on the lot, of course, but the pack apparently didn't include the necessary prop.  Is there any other way to get the necessary file, or should I just delete the lots?
Title: Re: New Updated Dependencies List ¡¡¡ ( Thanks to Diggis)
Post by: Andreas on September 19, 2007, 04:48:49 PM
Hmm, the garage block shouldn't cause brown boxes, since it's just a prop, but for your convenience, I attached a ZIP with a DAT that contains both the garage model and the prop exemplar file.

Post by: delldimensions on September 19, 2007, 05:01:45 PM
Thanks a lot Andreas.  You're right, it shouldn't have shown a brown box, but in any case, that file solved the problem.
Title: Re: New Updated Dependencies List ¡¡¡ ( Thanks to Diggis)
Post by: Andreas on September 19, 2007, 05:09:45 PM
Hmm, if there was a brown box that is now gone, maybe the prop pack does include the exemplar file, but not the model? Someone should check that, just to be sure.

If I look up (on the dependency list for LEX) BSC Mega Prop JES Vol 13, it sends me to BSC Mega Prop JES Vol 5.. THEN when I link from the list it sends me to BSC Mega Prop JES Vol 1, not 5

Also the following dependencies need to be added to the list
SG_Models_Sainsbury – vital to avoid brown boxes ... FOUND http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1099 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1099)
SG Extras – vital to see the queries  ... FOUND http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1090 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1090)

They are needed for SG Commercials Lots Sainsburys simgoober

In fact as I look further, even tho they are classed "BSC" the general class of simgoober's SG_ whatever lots are not listed here at all. Perhaps there needs to be a SG MASTER list similar to what there is for some other dependency people (ie Deadwood).. SG has a crapload of excellent items.. they should be easy to find.

Also missing for lot http://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=733 Jestarr Chemical Storage Facility

is BSCBATProps JES Vol12

Well I finally found it where it says in the label "Superceded by BSC Mega Props - JES Vol04".. why not just include this here on this list? :) .. or better yet, modify the dl above just to say Vol 4 to start and avoid the whole thing..

This file http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=341 BSCTexturePack JES Vol02 is asked for on the essentials linked by SFBT in this file \cleanitol BSC Mega Packs\cleanitol BSC Mega Packs(1).txt however this file is locked. This file (341 above) shows that it is "Superceded by BSC Textures Vol02"

The essentials file should be updated to remove BSCTexturePack JES Vol02and just show  BSC Textures Vol02 with the link http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=638.
__________________________________________________________________________________________
Also, even though I appreciate that people try to update their dependencies in order for us to be able to find them, I think this is a cheap shot.. the file SFBT Oil Tanks (Readme's\SFBT Oil Tanks\readme_oil_storage_tanks.htm) http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=750 .. it's just stupid to show the ENTIRE LIST OF BSC MEGAFILES for this ONE LOT.. sheez!!

I'd rather have the actual dependency listed and I"LL FIND IT if that is the approach being taken. WHy not just list all the downloads as a dependency for every download lot on SC4D? :)

EDIT My mistake.. this file SFBT Oil Tanks properly links in http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=750 as is proper.. I don't  know how I got myself confused, but I appologize!!  :-[
______________________________________________________________________________

In addition the last file listed for the BSC ESSENTIALS LIST mentioned above is MISSING : Newman Inc Prop Pack Vol3.dat has not been found, you can download it : http://www.simpeg.com/dload.php?action=file&file_id=375 This link is broken and gives a HTTP 404 NOT FOUND error. If the TITLE is CORRECT? the proper link appears to be this one
http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=911

However if that file (911) is correct, then the cleanitol list (BSC ESSENTIALS) is in error since I already have the file 911 BSC Textures Vol 02 installed.. so there is some problem there too. This MAY BE because Cleanitol was simply looking for the wrong file.. I don't know

Maybe I'm mixing up something, but the readme for the SFBT Oil Storage Tanks doesn't show the whole list of BSC Mega Prop Packs, but just the needed dependencies, namely the SFBT Essentials (the file you linked above) and the BSC Textures Vol. 1.

... the SFBT Oil Storage Tanks ...  just the needed dependencies, namely the SFBT Essentials ...

You are quite correct, my apologies.. I have corrected the note..

On another note: I may be confused in how to use the cleanitol  program in some cases. I have run the megfile list cleanitol file "cleanitol BSC Mega Packs.zip" and it lists the following files on my system:

CAL_Harbourprops.dat (CAL_Harbourprops.dat)  found in ...
BSCBATProps RT Beverage Trucks Vol01.dat (BSCBATProps RT Beverage Trucks Vol01.dat)  found in ...

In addition it lists a very long list of megafiles that I don't have installed (which I suppose is natural as it seems to be some sort of "master list").

But I am not sure how I should be using this. I don't at this time wish to dl the 100's of megabytes of all those mega-files, even though I DO wish to have appropriate megafiles for those items that I have installed in my system.

When I go to the dependency list page on SC4D I don't find those 2 files that are shown in my list. How do I find out WHICH megafile I should dl (if any) in place of the 2 files listed here. I would GUESS that the first for CAL is BSC MegaProps CAL Vol1 http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=469 , but I don't know how to confirm that. The other one BSC BAT Props D66 RT Vol 01 which when I follow the link is BSC MEGA Props D66 Vol01 http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=396 .. are those the correct ones? I already have D66 Vol01, so maybe its one of the other Vol's.. (there are at least 9 edit: hmm .. I note that these all map into TWO files only..however the file above RT Beverage Trucks.. is not in either one) ? How do I confirm this? Do I just have to download them all and look?

EDIT: I have confirmed that the CAL_harbour one is in the CAL Megapack.. not too hard on this one as there was only one.. :)

I am not really sure what this means and what specific action I should be taking. If I run the "backup" function of cleanitol, won't I just be removing those 2 files? (which I assume SOME dl that I have installed.. in this case the harbor walls and the Pepsi plant that uses them.. ) If I remove the two files, but don't perform any other action, won't I be messing up those two packages I have installed?

If this is explained somewhere and I've missed it, please refer me to that documentation. If not, please tell me what I should do.. :)  Maybe I simply should NOT RUN the master cleanitol file?

In either case the file SUGGESTS that the two specific files are contained in some BSC megapack, but I don't know how to find that. I have looked on the master list page on SC4D http://www.sc4devotion.com/dependencies.html and they are not there. Thanks.

I MAY BE making this way harder than it should be.. LOL.. if so just be patient with me as I learn..  %confuso

Hopefully if I am completely off track, I can at least help someother poor soul as dumb as I am ..  :D

Please don't take all this as complaints.. :) I am learning as I go. I really appreciate what is being done here and am very much in support!!.. I hope maybe my problems will help others to learn as well as me.. PLUS .. maybe I can act as a "tester" so I may find a problem here or there that can be corrected. Please take this in the proper spirit.

SUMMARY: I guess what I would like to see in a "perfect world" is literally a master list or database of EVERY FILE in EVERY MEGAFILE. It would seem that this could be done fairly simply with a batch process that simply "print to list" all the contents of every mega.. But I am not sure... maybe it is harder than I think.. anyway.. that is my thoughts. Then anyone could find any dependency missing by just looking in that list and getting the proper megafile.

@SC4Boy: What cleanitol does is search for old files that are replaced by mega packs. So you should only use the backup function when you know that you have the megapacks installed.

The two examples you gave:
CAL_Harbourprops.dat
BSCBATProps RT Beverage Trucks Vol01.dat

Cals' harbourprops are indeed part of CAL's Megapack, the RT Beverage Trucks are part of BSC MEGA Props - RT Vol02.dat so you should only remove the harbourprops and beveragetrucks when you have these two megapacks installed.

How to know where to find such a pack? Well most Mega packs offer cleanitol files or read me's with documentation wich files to replace. When you look at the files you mentioned above you can see who the author of these files are (CAL and RT, it's in the file-name) so it isn't that hard to find the megapack that replaced these files.

If you have these 2 megapacks installed, the pepsi plant and cal's harbour will work fine without the harbourprops and beveragetrucks files and these old propfiles should then be removed (they could corrupt your game). If you don't have these 2 megapacks installed, leave the harbourprops and beveragetrucks just where they are.

In the end Cleanitol will tell you what Megapacks are missing and provides the link where you can download the megapacks from. Installing them will not take as much time as you feared, trust me...as long as you read the read-me files that are included with each download almost nothing can go wrong.

The master dependency list is pretty massive already but you are right, it isn't 100% complete. That would be hard if you consider that hundreds (if not thousands) of dependency packs have been released over the years on various SC fan sites. I think the dependency list we have now is very usefull, but if you find files that aren't on the list..it's good to let the author know (as you did with your post).

Please take your time reading the read-me's and cleanitol files and you will slowly see the light in the big forest of dependencies :)

I hope this will help you some.

The list should contain every prop and texture pack released as a seperate download.  It hasn't been updated for a few months so recent stuff isn't on there but everything older than that should be.

If a dependency is another lot then it will not be in the list, as it's not a prop pack.  Any file can be linked to as a dependency, and it would be impractical to try do a list for that.

If you download the file version of this (available at STEX and PEGs) it has an additional column telling you what MEGA pack replaced the file.

Thanks for your notes. I THINK I am catching on.. the list still is hard to negotiate for the large number of files. I realize this is a very large task to attack.

Yes I see that..and I appreciate your work.. Is my thinking that a master list with every file could be done though just with a re-directed batch file? hehe.. all you need is a trouble-maker, huh?

Thanks for that added information!!

I might make a note though.. I just now used the master dependency list page to find BSC MEGA Props RT Vol 02 per your note above.. :)

The link LEX simply reloads the master list page.. so the link seems to be broken on that file..

edit hmmm.. I also just did a "power search" on [BSC and PROPS] and on just [BSC] and find no link to the BSC MEGA Props RT Vol 02 anywhere. and RT is not available as an "author"

I'm not sure what you are after here.  If you are after a list of all the files that have been released with links to the latest version then thats what the dependency list should provide.  The downloadable version has an extra column telling you what package has replaced it.  All links should be to the latest version as of June.

if you are after a list of all possibly dependencies with links, given the sheer volume of files released and the fact that ANY file can be a dependency, then no it is not really possible.

Sorry I was not very clear. Well sort of half and half.. :) What I'd like is a simple text file that has all files in it. When you do a search on the file it will be listed under a heading... That heading would then be looked up on the dependency list and I could find what megapack link there.. This would not need ANY active liinking of any sort.. just a file to do a CNTRL-F (find) search on.  Something like this:

XYZ_BATPROP_VOL01
abc.dat
def.dat
ghi.dat
lmn.model
... etc
XYZ_BATPROP_VOL02
... etc with the contents of this file

At most this would only need to be a 2D file.. no more orders of orthogonality.. (containerfile)x(itemfile)

If I had a authors dl and did a dependency search on and it said I needed ghi.dat, I would do a search on this big file above (it would not be printed out.. just the find so little bandwidth would be required) and I could see that I needed to get XYZ_BATPROP_VOL01. I would go to your great list, look up XYZ_BATPROP_VOL02 and find a link to the file that had ultimately the ghi.dat in it. If it turned out that that first find was not on the list, I would do a find on THAT file and would quickly narrow to a file that WOULD BE on the dependencies list.

An example is the FUKUDA HARBOR PACK where I need jeronij Muelle 1X V4 LISO CARGA-0x6534284a-0x0f55ca9c-0xd0af45d5.SC4Desc. I have not been able to find that file even though I have been asking patiently over a considerable time. I know I can edit the file and change that dependency, but at the time there were 7 dependencies that I could not find. .I stumbled on the other 6 sort of hit or miss.. Now that one is the only one I'm missing, but you see what I mean?.. This particular item is not the point here, just to say this would be the kind of thing that I would envision that I could find on this master list.

With repect to "all files by all people" I would only expect to find this data on the sort of quality file I might find on SC4D.. Of course sometime it would come up empty.. Well you can't have everything.. But I bet over a year's time or so that this file would become very good.

Right, got you.  That is still a very big ask.

The problem you are encountering is because of readme's without enough information.  That file is the file name, not the download name.  Most creators here will provide a readme with links, and with the name of the download, not the file.

If you need a specific download you should be able to go to the list, find the file you think you need and the link will take you to latest version.

Well its me again..  :D .. This time I have a file called SNMP Rescue Station which I think is by ripptide. It links (in its doc's) to a broken link over at ST. (I got the station from here on SC4D.. http://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=270 (http://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=270) In the doc's it is called

"PEG_ Offset-Peeps_PROP".
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: FOUND: here http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item59 (http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item59) Notice that it is a prop set within another file.. but it is there.. :) It probably would be a good idea to list the file PEG-CDK Prop Pack Volume 1 onto the dependency list for the lot SNMP Rescue Station
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have no idea if that is the correct title for the dependency, but I don't find it anywhere.
The doc's link to a file on ST that is a hospital, so it looks like a broken link there.
On Pegsim it is referred to in a message that says it is in the SNM section of the PLEX, but I don't even find a section by that name.

If anyone has any idea about where I might find this, I'd appreciate it. If it is in a dependency pack, I cannot find reference to it and it doesn't seem to be on the dependency list (if the name is right)

Thanks for any help.

More trouble. I have dl'd the marrast rail stations. They list the following dependencies both in the dl and in the docs. No link is provided at all. [edit: Found links on another Marrast file, but they didn't work.. ]

Marrast MEGA Pack vol01  FOUND: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1177 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1177)

Marrast MEGA Pack vol02  FOUND: http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1191 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=1191)

I don't find them listed, nor is Marrast searchable on the LEX. I'm surprised as I thought marrast was a much respected and longtime, longstanding SC4 celebrity.. :)

edit: Located em by extracting some links which did not work and screwing around with it till I located the right file. Why can't these be found on the dependency list? or by a search? And why didn't the links from the documentation work? It was downloaded on this SC4D site.

Thanks for help on these..

Both of JRJ's lots JRJ Rural WallsLots Cold Version  and JRJ Rural Walls Lots Warm Version have broken links in their documentation... The proper link is http://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=4 (http://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=4) JRJ Props Vol4 Rural Walls. The link that is in there is broken so defaults to the SC4D home page.

Also both of Diagonal Trail Parks Tarmac Version_LEX and Diagonal Trail Parks White Version_LEX need to update the links for BSC_SG_FloraPack_Vol2.dat and BSC_SG_FloraPack_Vol3.dat to link instead (the link has BOTH of the SG packs in it) to BSC MEGA Props - SG Vol 01 http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=746 (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=746) The dependency list is correct, but since this is a JRJ board, it would be good to just have the docs listed correctly.. :) That way the user can just dl straight from the docs and not even have to use the list.. hehe.

Also the same document has broken links for Concrete Modern Diagonal Walls Placement Tutorial and for  Diagonal Concrete Walls suport thread

Also the documentation Readme_Jeronij_Concrete_WallsV2_Props.htm has broken links for SC4Tool : Reference and Visual Editor for BATs and Lots and for Diagonal Concrete Walls suport thread for the package download http://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=130 (http://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=130) BSC Props Jeronij Vol 01 Walls

SC4BOY : this thread is for posts regarding the Dependencies list provided by Diggis not for reporting broken links in Readmes. The Readmes are unlikely to be updated as it would be a big job to do them all. Diggis' list will help you to find most prop packs and all you  need to do to find tutorials is either search here or ask.

You are mistaking the Dependencies list for something it is not. It shows location of packs not individual props. In fact if you looked at the list and clicked the JRJ Wire fences yellow you would be taken to the correct location for the file.

Can I step in here and point out that this started because I asked SC4BOY to post information about Readme broken links elsewhere? This thread is for posts regarding links that are broken or packs that are missing in the Dependencies list only.
I was also rather frustrated to find the same post regarding the Peg OffSet Peeps at SimPeg, Simtropolis and here. At SimPeg it had already been answered in that thread some time ago with an explanation that it was a typo error - in fact pointing to a STEX reference of 11175 instead of 11775.
Your assistance is welcome, SC4BOY, but please give time for things to be dealt with on one site before posting at another. It only makes my "job" more difficult having to post three times instead of once. You are in the USA, I am in Europe so you need to leave a minimum of 6 hours before posting again - it could be as much as 10 hours depending on your location in the USA.
I would ask that an Admin or Global Mod to transfer the extraneous posts from this thread to another that deal with general dependency problems.

In the dependency list, the entry for BSC BAT Props RT Minecorp Vol 02 actually links to http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=403 (BSC MEGA Props - swi21 Vol01). Its possible this is correct, but given the link to Vol 01 goes to Vol 01 I doubt it.. worth a look anyways as to what is intended. I've tried to find it on a "SEARCH" via various key words and don't find it that way either.. MIA?

EDIT: FOUND IT  http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=652 is the correct link

Kind of you both to reply. I have to deal only with the information I get in the documentation in the file. In that file it is clearly called RT_claypit and nothing else.. and the link is broken so that is of no help.. I will use this info to see if I can succede here.. Thanks. I will dutifully look for "BRT Industries Claypit" and "Thikasa Clay Pit" and under "barbyw"  to see what I can find.  Yes I looked under both RT and ripptide (and BSC too as I recall) to no avail. As ALL of you know the search on the BSC Ex is very restrictive and does not allow me to search simply for "claypit" etc. Hoping all will forgive me for not knowing the history of every file.

I also know (or at least suspected even tho it is not identified other than "dependency") that it is a "lot"... of course to those trying to solve these problems this is just another obstacle.. I left the note as a part of another message clearly related to the dependency list.. and part of the same file set.. so begging pardons all around.

Oh and if I find it I will edit this reply to give the link.. http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=202 for BRT Industries Clay Pit.. LOL I see barbyw put this link in her reply... oh well .. I apologize and must confess that my eyesight is rather poor and the light blue on white is not good for me (I can read it fine, but can't tell its a link unless I mouse over it) .. thanks barby anyways.. :)

Jeronij I sincerely appreciate your help here, independent of the "issues".  I see your maturity and dedication to solving problems under whatever name..  thanks thanks.. :)

Looking for these: (Needed for Simgoobers EASYFLO plant)
PEG_MTP_TEXTURES_vol2
PEG_MTP_TEXTURES_vol1
They are not listed on the dependency list.

I did Find these:
PEG MTP Mountain Theme Pack
PEG MTP Texture Pack 2a

Are these the same? When I look for "dependencies-textures" on the BSC Ex LEX it contains no files.

Also I am looking for (needed for BRT Coal Mine, by BRT)
PEG_MTP_RESOURCE_vol1

I find several items for PEG including a Mountain Theme Pak (MTP?) Any ideas which file or mega I actually need to get this resourse item? Perhaps PEG_MTP_RESOURCE_vol1 should be added to the dependency list as well?

They are available at simpeg.com.

Unfortunatly the names you are looking for are the names of the files, not the downloads.  I can't check all the file names and link them, as it would require me to download every single one of the files on the list, install them one by one and then find the name of the file, and add that to the list.  The people who write the readme's need to be providing you with the name of the download, or a link.  I can't add every single file name sorry.

Henry,  The file you requested is a recent file, and has been added to my master list, which I have a little more work to do and then I will send it through to Jeronij to update this one.  Any thing released after June isn't on there.

Not much I can do about this either.. :(

I am surprised that something given a title "vol XX" is an "individual file".. *shakes head*
I mean all these "megapaks" I'm downloading are "just files" too.. I'm afraid your method of distinction is inadequate in this context.

QuoteThe people who write the readme's need to be providing you with the name of the download, or a link.  I can't add every single file name sorry.

Indeed. Maybe having them mentioned here will help that happen.. I certainly have no pipeline to developers.. or at least a far weaker one than others who participate here.. You indeed are faced with a tough task.. as are those who download things, then can't find dependencies.. ;)

I believe much progress is being made.. and time will mellow them to finer results..

In fact so far as I can see the links for the PEG_MTP_Texture packs are both correctly linked to the STEX uploads in the Readmes. I checked the SG EZFlo Readme and it is quite clearly linked in the list at the bottom of the Readme. Pegasus packaged both his Resource pack and his Vol01 Texture pack in the PEG MTP Mountain Theme Pack (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=14025) but as they are separate dats within the package they show up separately in the Readme. As people also check the LD files the resource pack will show up there too and if the MTP Pack only is linked then we get asked about the separate dat file. No matter what we, the packagers, do we seem to be wrong ::)
Can I once again please, politely, request that broken links or general dependency queries are posted in the LEX Forum or in the BSC Help forum? The Dependency List provided by Diggis is not the same thing as looking for dependencies generally. He should not have to provide links to every single dat file uploaded. This list is for helping find packs that have been amalgamated into bigger packs and for general packs. I am not complaining, SC4BOY, as I know you are trying to be helpful but this is not really the right thread for this.

Do those files show up in the dependency list or not? They do not. Are they listed as dependencies in the documentation? They do. When you follow the link, do you find the file mentioned in the link? They do not.. you find another file.. is it broken or just miss labeled? When you go to the dependency list, do you find it? No. As diggis says, it is only a "file" not a dependency.. but it is identified as "Vol XX" just like any other dependency.. I certainly can't judge that it does not apply.. I'll take diggis' word for it.

I have no simple way of telling. I am simply providing information as I find it. I am not qualified to judge exactly where it fits in the "big scheme of things" This was not reported as a documention problem, but rather as a missing "dependency" which was not linked in the dependency list.. so you see, it doesn't matter what we users do, we can't be correct either.. so I sympathise with your frustration.. I'm sure we all are frustrated in some way... :)

What I think you're confusing is that this somehow is a "finger pointing" exercise. It is not. It is simply going through information in an attempt to make it as good as it can be. If you folk "in the know" feel that some data point I have provided is erroroneous, I can certainly accept that.. Just take whatever action the information merits. I don't take it as some personal affront..

In every movement to "better" there are "errors".. on all sides I expect.. IN the assumptions that we all are doing our best to resolve problems, lets just sort through them and resolve issues as best as possible..

In terms of where to type it.. I don't care.. I'll do the best to follow whatever tools and guidelines I'm given .. you seem to feel I'm "violating this thread" either in fact or spirit.. frankly I don't care WHERE I type it as long as it is addressed.. I simply use the tools at my disposal. If you wish me to enter it elsewhere, kindly link me to the thread that is "correct" in your judgement, and I'll use that..

Why you think it matters to me where I report it is a puzzle.. I find a problem.. I'll report it whereever I can.. I'll try to follow guides the same as anyone else.  Diggis seems to have no problem telling me "that isn't applicable" and move on.. I certainly can appreciate that.

It seems clear you have no problem telling me that same thing.. and that's fine too.. :)  I simply can only try to report things as I see it to those who may have the power/ knowledge to address it in whatever fashion appropriate. Do I always "see it right"? Of course not, but it isn't for lack of trying.

EDIT: I thought further about this.. I suspect I am causing you work that may not be fair in some way. I am very sorry if that is true. This CERTAINLY is NOT my INTENT!!..  and if you have some guide for me to follow.. or some other steps that I can take before I "pass it on" I'd appreciate it if you share these with me either privately or here.

Thanks to all for their efforts.. which seems to largely be poor diggis and barby.. I love you both :)

hehe, thanks for the last statement, made me smile.

I just want the clarify what I said by the it's a file not an dependency and a couple of other things.  I know barby PM'd you about this, but it's possibly written here in the open too.

The name dependency list is a little misleading as any upload can be a dependency.
This list contains all uploads that have been uploaded to the SC4D Lex, the PLEX and the STEX as prop or texture packs. They are listed by the name of the upload.  Each upload can, and often does, contain multiple DAT files.  When you scan a lot with the sc4tool it will list the filename of any files used on that lot.  Unfortunatly this is not often the same thing as the upload name, especially with older files.  In the case of the PEG_MTP_TEXTURES_vol2 and PEG_MTP_TEXTURES_vol1 they are the name of two files, which I think are part of the Peg MTP texture pack.  As they were never uploaded seperately to any any sites they will not show seperately in the list.

I think the issue with you posting queries in this thread is that I have to go through when I update the list and check each post and each reported broken link to make sure I have caught them all.  As there are over 300 files, reports of broken links is important as I can't check them all personally.  A lot of the stuff you are reporting isn't specific to the list, but I still have to read it to check.  As you have filled up a couple of pages... :P it's a lot of reading. I'm not knocking you for your attempts, but it might pay to start a new thread for this.  Barby may be able to the best place for it.

If you do find genuine broken links could you please just post the name of the file and, if you find it, the link it should be.

Is there any chance of the dependencies list being made for Cleanitol any time soon? It would seem to me the two would be a perfect pairing.
Title: Re: New Updated Dependencies List ¡¡¡ ( Thanks to Diggis)
Post by: Diggis on December 17, 2007, 04:50:45 AM
Unfortunatly the list only shows the name under which the file is uploaded, not the name of the actual DAT files inside.  To create a cleanitol list you would have to download everysingle file on there, and then open them all and copy the names into a file.  It's a lot of work and I don't really have the time at the moment but if anyone would like to take a crack I can send them the original excell file to work with.

[filename].dat

Thanks Pat. The file does work in Reader, as long as you change the file type you're looking for to All Files, but I'm not sure how this effects game & lot use. Opening it with Notepad shows that it is a DBPF file, so it shouldn't make things too complicated. Considering Dat Packer reads it, I would guess the game does as well.

The list is great, but the problem I encountered comes in a different form: I open an existing city and get the in-game message that I am missing a dependency. But rather than a name the message box displays the following number: "743303503 is missing". There are no brown boxes anywhere in the city and I can play normally. Searches for this number have thrown up nothing on the LEX, STEX, nor here..

How can one find out what's behind the number??
Title: Re: New Updated Dependencies List ¡¡¡ ( Thanks to Diggis)
Post by: xxdita on February 09, 2008, 05:10:27 AM
This usually indicates that you have removed a file from your plugins recently. Without actually having the file, there would be no way to figure out what the corresponding file is to that number. Though every lot has a Plugin ID, it could be difficult to find that specific one. If your game works as it should, I'd ignore the message. If not, then you may want to replace any plugins you've recently removed, then go back into that city and make sure all instances of those lots are demolished. Save & Exit, and it is now safe to remove those files again.

And the string of numbers Sc4 displays does not and will not help. there is no known way to decode them and find out what plugin(s) the game is referring to, trust me i've tried.
Title: Re: New Updated Dependencies List ¡¡¡ ( Thanks to Diggis)
Post by: xxdita on February 10, 2008, 12:51:48 AM
True. But hopefully you know what you've removed from your plugins recently, and have at least tried running the game without those files before recycling them. I'd always recommend starting up a handful of cities, especially in older regions, before actually deleting any plugins from your computer. There is always the possibility of having forgotten to demolish a lot, in a region you haven't played in a while.
When moving the files back into your Plugins folder, put them all in a folder named Delete These, or somthing similar, so that they'll be easy to find. Revisit any cities that had the Missing Plugin Error, and demolish all of the lots that you need to. Exit the game, remove the folder from your Plugins, and then go back and double check, if necessary repeating the process, until you can start all cities without any error messages at all.
Most of the time, the Missing Plugins message, along with the lot not working is the worst it gets, but often, especially if there are a lot of Plugins listed, this could cause a CTD, making the city useless.
It would be nearly impossible to create a list of all plugins ever made, and their SC4 Plugin number, but perhaps a list could be started with new lots? But I'm not volunteering myself for that just yet.  $%Grinno$%

I don't and I haven't. There's been no removal of any files: the only thing I tried was to use the BSC DatPacker to compress all folders into a single megapack in order to speed things up. When I found no marked increase in speed (especially menus) I restored the original files and only removed the megadat folder.

Hmmm... I've switched back & forth quite frequently between packed and unpacked without getting the message. If this is happening only in the cities you've used the packed files on, I suppose it could be that the game is looking for those dats, and reporting them as missing. If it's happening elsewhere, perhaps you forgot to move everything back? DatPacker only compresses the subfolders, none of the files in your Plugins root folder.

The root plug-in folder was not touched. I am not blaming the Datpacker. It is always possible that I removed something accidentally. But I have other strange things happening, too: the NDEX Lumber Yard, for example: I've had it for some years now, always worked fine. Yesterday it appeared as a growable, and the buildings were missing. Similarily with the Pollution Eater. The one of SimGoober's housing lot began to sprout brown boxes. I deleted the lot (5x5), when I plopped it the brown boxes were gone and it looked normal. Methinks a complete reinstall is at hand. And I think I will write a small utility that keeps track of what is installed where.

Since the plug-in number must come from somewhere, it ought to be searchable somewhere. I wrote to EA, but that's like dropping a feather into a canyon and waiting for the echo.

Has it been a long time since you've played and you tried to put in a lot of new things at once? The description you made above sounds very much like that.. lots of updates without checking them as you go. What you describe is symptomatic of MANY problems, not DatPacker (or cleanitol.. though running it "in the dark" will lead to MANY problems too) There is simply no substiture for going one or 2 mods at a time, testing each as you go, and UNDERSTANDING what you're doing.. even then you may have a problem or two, but you can always work through those.. I'm afraid you have a bit of a mess... do you have a region /plugins backup from before you started this?
Title: Re: New Updated Dependencies List ¡¡¡ ( Thanks to Diggis)
Post by: xxdita on February 10, 2008, 03:35:48 AM
As EA/Maxis isn't responsible for support regarding Custom Content for the game, it's unlikely you'll get a satisfying answer. The plugin number would only be searchable if someone had been keeping track of them all since day one, if the number is assigned by the plugin itself, as opposed to a random number assigned by the game when the plugin is first used.
This can be tested of course, by two players using the same plugin, plopping it, removing the corresponding file from their plugins folder and restarting the game.

When I "discovered" STEX & LEX a couple of years ago, I started SC4 more seriously (without you guys it would have been a one-off, boring game). From day one I kept back-ups (its what I do for a living - keeping systems alive). My problems almost all started with the move to Vista, and the the fact that my old, American CD's became unusable. I then ordered SC4 & RH from UK Amazon. Vista forced me to completely reinstall everything on my PC's - some two GB worth of software, games and utilities. When I received my UK SC4 I restarted all regions, installing first all official updates, the essentials and dependencies, then all the custom content. Luckily then Cleanitol was there to avoid duplication et al. And I thus had a running show until two weeks ago, when things started to go haywire. And I do know that it is not the Datpacker's fault - but always, always the user's, ergo moi meme! I am now trying to create a tool that will find these identifiers. Wish me luck..

And thanks for everyone's comments..

It could very well be that you have removed lots with Cleanitol that you had not demolished beforehand. This would almost certainly give you the Missing Plugin error. You may want to have a look at this thread (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=3795.0) for more help with that.

The number displayed is the IID of the building or the lot ( I don't remember ). And the IID is based on the date the lot/building was created

Make sure you have latest datPacker ( v.08c ), the previous one ( v.08 or v.08b ) could have messed your packed files ( and only packed files ) the way you described

As it happens, I just found out what the plug-in was. DaddyO's excellent albeit mundane U-Haul centre and its extras had been corrupted during a back-up and restore operation. The way I discovered it is almost amusing: a very old (from the early 90ties) DOS Utility which came with then Norton Tools: a Hex Inspector & Disassembler! It found what no other search tool found: a reference burried in one of the lot files. The strange thing, though, is that the accompaning bonus pack lists no dependencies but still gives me brownb boxes, even though I do have the required BSC mega pack.

Have you tried using SC4Tool to scan for dependencies? Could be that the lot creator neglected to mention, or wasn't aware of one?

Great idea. Did not know SC4Tool could do that; thought it was a utility reserved for folks creating these marvels.

Though most of the programs have been created for Custom Content Creators, they can be very helpful for anyone that's ever downloaded a lot that just didn't work right as well. With the proper tutorial, you can easily fix these problems for yourself, often faster than the creator can figure out the root of the problem. And by the time you have learned the basics, and tweaked a few lots for your own use, you'll find you've become a bit of a Modder yourself.

Great, Becca. But now how can we get the name? Because this still appears. Elsewhere someone mentioned that this concerns the missing pieces DaddyO forgot to include in his UHaul lots, but when I remove those lots and uninstall his stuff, the message still appears.

If you open the save file, of the city, in the reader, you can look though the exemplars in it, to find the hex value in the plugin pack id property (it should also be the instance number of the exemplar, so if you sort the files in reader but Instance, it might be quicker to find). Then just check the name.

Title: BSC BAT Props MJB Mega Pack link leads to 'Underground Parking Props'??
Post by: Gringamuyloca on May 05, 2008, 02:02:56 PM
A newbie to the world of plug ins.... just got a new pc that can handle the game, so I'm busy collecting dependencies! I love what I have found amongst my fellow gamers! Too good to be true!..

Back to the subject line... when I'm at the The Dependencies List July - 2007 and click on the BSC BAT Props MJB Mega Pack link I end up HERE (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=13264). Is this the 'New' dependency, or is it an incorrect link. I have been searching this site as well as Simtropolis for info, alas no luck...

Can you help?

Thanks,
Gringamuyloca

Fixed, thanks (diggis)

Continuing to look for these... Don't know if it helps, but this is the lot that lists "Industrial Props Pack" as a dependency...

http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=14289 (http://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=14289)

Clicking on the link in the download window results in the previously mentioned problem and discovered the issue with the three files in the Dependency List while searching for the file...

Something else... Here's an in-game image of the lot...

(https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg182.imageshack.us%2Fimg182%2F9136%2Fwestportsmouthaug270012vs2.jpg&hash=18bef5b6b9d57ab18db03c7f80c858fb6c0d6d92)

I can't see any difference between it and the image in the download. Maybe the Prop Pack is part of a Mega Pack as I have most of them loaded into the game. Just curious...
Title: Re: Unknown Dependency List Links

As it's a plopable lot, you should be able to check the LD file within iLive's Reader to see exactly what props are necessary.
Or if you can provide a link to the lot itself, I may be able to look into it futher.

I checked the Reader. It referenced some RJM-Container props that I can't seem to find but seem to be on the lot. Perhaps they are in the missing Industrial Pack but have been repackaged into another pack I have.

There is a link to the lot in my previous post.

Could it be JRJ Industrial Props Pack ?

It was the only one I could find in same master folder as the RJM Intermodal Shipping Depot.

Master folder meaning from the same download time.
(Each time I reinstall the game, I make a new master download folder.)

Just to finish off what I originally started, the lot that I had initially needed the 'Industrial Prop Pack' for appears to require the BSC Mega Props - JES Vol01. After checking all the BSC packs, this pack provided the only props I could see missing on the lot with all the other dependecies installed. I don't know if the original Industrial Props Pack was rolled into this one or what, but it supplied the required pieces.

Thanks and hope this helps anyone looking for this...

Can't help you with the nameless ones, but "Googer" is most likely SimGoober (found on the Lex & Stex), while the other could be Vlakhaas (am not certain of the correct spelling here). But you'll be best served to include some screenshots, and - sometimes - if you hover the query tool (top question mark) over the missing bits/area, a name might pop up that would help.

Suggest you stop over at the LEX and get yourself the Simgoober & Gascooker prop files - they are, if I recall correctly, in each case in mega packs. You may also need the respective essentials and in this case I think it is the BSC essentials. One other thing you could do, at least for the SimGoober stuff, is to take a tour of the residentials at SimCity Plaza (http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=4). This link will take you to the German version, but the site has flags in the upper right corner so you can switch to English, ja?! You will probably see your Goober Mansions there, just page through the residentials.

No, your eyesight is ok, I'm at fault here; was thinking of another site; Anyhow, here are the links of what you ought to download from there:
SG Megaprops (http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=55)
Dependency 1 (http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=60)
Dependency 2 (http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=54)
Dependency 3 (http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=53)
Dependency 4 (http://kurier.simcityplaza.de/details.php?file=57)

I don't recall now the names of each one; and yes, they do exist on the LEX as well (BSC Exchange), but these ought to do it, at least for SG and Gascooker. For Vlakahaas you'll probably have to wait until the STEX is back online. What you ought to download from the LEX, though, are all the BSC Essential files, props & textures; Just click on Most Popular (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_lotlist.php?oBY=P9) - they are all shown on the first page..

http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=139

But unfortunately i'm getting a big brown box... see:

http://xs128.xs.to/xs128/08256/bretton801.jpg

I really do think i've installed all the needed dependancies that were listed, does anyone know what i'm missing?

Really like to use this lot.

Ah, another one who likes to skip the "read" part of the "read-me" equation: you are most likely missing SG (SimGoober) Auto Factory. Simply go back to the LEX and in Power Search select SimGoober as creator. leave everything else as it is and complete the search. Download the factory and try again. If that ain't it: look for the rest of the dependencies, neatly listed with the link you provided  $%Grinno$%
CSX MEGA Props - Vol04
BSC MEGA Props - JES Vol01
BSC Mikeseith Carprops - Vol 01
CSX BAT Props - 2006b
BSC MEGA Props - NewmanInc Vol01
bldgprop_vol1 – available at simcity.com
BSC Textures Vol 01
BSC MEGA Props - DAE Vol01
Highway Light Towers v2
SG Auto Factory – vital to avoid a large brown box

Actually, i'm not the idiot you seem to think i am.

I do read readme's, and i've been using the SG Auto Factory for a couple of months.

I've installed all dependencies listed there, that's why i'm asking.

Not to worry - nobody's calling you anything  :P. Since you have all the dependencies this is odd indeed. I don't know for sure if the factory falls into that category, but there have been several updates by various pepole, to some of the lots and dependencie. I have both the factory and the CSX factory and no problems, but mine were recent downloads. And since I use the BSC Downloader, updates are more or less automatic. On this one you might want to PM Colyn, as he was the creator of the lot

u2mofo  Cool!

Ghostkiller108  The info you gave was a bit sparse, however, you may want to try these:

21st Century Tower by ks_jpn found in his Mega Pack here (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=709).
HoManFung by Bixel found in his Mega Pack here (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=901).

First post, sorry if this was already mentioned.
I couldn't find the following dependencies on the list, most of them are farming-related.

BSC_FarmFields_SG_Vol02
BSC_BAT_Props SWI21_Vol03
(point of interest: the "LEX" link for this actually took me to the STEX and presented me with Pegasus's MTP)
Link fixed, thanks (Diggis)
SG_Props_People V02
csx_Imperial_Museum
BSC_NCIM_Props
PropPack_mjb_Flowers_Vol03
SG_Props_Residentials01

I used the SC4 Plugin Manager to determine these. Any help locating these would be appreciated!

This list will be updated as often as possible.

thephilistine: I have just downloaded and installed this set. All the files you list above were placed into My Docs\SimCity 4\Plugins\SFBT\Signalboxes. They are not dependencies as they are included in the install. The only dependency is SFBT Essentials. I suggest you re-install the set and check your plugins after install.

Post by: Andreas on August 02, 2008, 02:53:10 AM
What Barby said. :) In the SFBT ReadMe files, I tend to list all included files, and add some explanations, if necessary, since many of them have German names (since the SFBT is a German team) - this makes it easier for you to delete selected lots and models, in case you don't want to use the full set. The dependencies are listed further down, in the "Dependencies" (duh!) section. I don't specify the standard installation path (since it can be changed), but in virtually every case it's \My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins\SFBT\[name of the download].

Isn't there a possibility to place all that mods in 1 file to install them all in 1 time? (Would be a file of 30 GB or so, but still, for a game like Simcity you must have room:D)
Title: Re: New Updated Dependencies List ¡¡¡ ( Thanks to Diggis)
Post by: Diggis on August 12, 2008, 08:16:47 AM
Which Mods are you talking about?  If you mean every single dependency on the list then no, not really.  30gb is very large and probably a slight over estimation, but say it was 500mb, then will you pay to host this?  cos that would eat through a sites band width after a couple of downloads.

Added to this is the fact that the list contains work from many, many users.  You would need permission from them to compile their work into 1 giant mega pack.
Title: Re: New Updated Dependencies List ¡¡¡ ( Thanks to Diggis)
Post by: BarbyW on August 12, 2008, 11:22:42 AM
Not to mention the problems for lot makers who wouldn't have a clue where the dependencies were from and would have to link to that enormous file.

Hi

Have downloaded SG Lots Agriculture, and have downloaded all the required dependencies, except SG Extras Agriculture and SG Extras, both of which are locked by admin, and consequently I am getting brown boxes.

Could someone please refer me to the dependency that replaces them (if there is one).   If not, is my best option to delete the SG Lots Agriculture download??...which would be a shame because they look great!

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I also hope this is the correct place to post this.

I downloaded Ripptide's set of Tapas bars.  According to the download information, they have no dependencies needed, but they are showing up as the dreaded brown boxes.

I don't know if this will help, but I noticed that the files for the tapas bars seem to be unzipped into two separate locations.  One is My Documents/SimCity 4/Plugins/BSC/ripptide/CdS/, which has all six of the SC4LOT files, and the other location is My Documents/SimCity 4/STEX_Downloads/BSC/Tapas Bars/, which has a bunch of JPEG files and a ReadMe file.  The ReadMe file instructs me to download both BSC MEGA Props -RT Vol01 and BSC BAT Props Mega  MJB; however, when I click on either one of them, I get the dreaded 404 error message!

You need to create an account on the LEX and login, then the links will work.

Shobhit, I would suggest you post that query in a new thread here:

http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?board=112.0

Also, make sure you post some pictures of the lots too as that really helps.  If you can install the Peg Oops Mod from simpeg.com that would help more.

Oh all of them work. My point is that they are in the blue HYPERTEXT "LEX" slot.. therefore there is no link to the LEX. Perhaps there is no LEX link in which case the "LEX" label probably should be removed on those dependencies. If the STEX link is non-functioning, it in turn should probably be deleted.

The login to the LEX is a separate registration from the forums. You'll need to create an account on the LEX before you can download the files.

Great list and very helpful.  But I've run into a snag and I can't find the dependencies for the following:

When I try to plop BSC BLS Oil Ports (or any of the related ports in this package), I see the big brown box of missing dependancy.  But I cann't figure out what I am missing.  Can someone shed some light?

The list will only help if you know what you are missing.  You need to find the readme for the oil ports and make sure you have ALL the listed dependencies.

Hello to whoever,

I am pretty new to all of this and I have a few questions:

What are the differences between prop and texture packs and why do I need them (aside from listed dependencies)?

I understand the concept of the Cleanitol programs but do not fully understand how it works.  What more should I do than just make sure the file is in my plugins folder?  How do I know which cleanitol files I need?

Finally, while most of my downloads have an installer program, some don't.  How do I ensure that I have properly downloaded an item if all it comes with is a blank paper icon and not a zipper file?

Thank You So Much!

Props are models of objects that are placed on LOTs... They become dependencies when others upload Lots with props on them, so the upload links to the pack so the LOT will show correctly in game.

Textures are the base of the LOTs, if there were no textures we'd just see straight through the LOT (which is sometimes desirable) Textures are images that are placed on the bottom of the lot to show the ground texture, i.e. Concrete, Grass, Sand etc.. ... Again, when people upload LOTs with Custom textures they must tell the user where to find the textures, otherwise the LOT will not display correctly in game.

Cleanitol, to my understanding of it, deletes unnecessary files... which saves you space. A "cleanitol" file may be included in some 'MEGA' packs, these packs are usually condensed versions of old packs, therefore the older files are no longer necessary, ergo wasting space. The .txt file included with the Packs is opened with Cleanitol, that's all it's used for. Cleanitol will also move the files associated with Readmes out of your Plugins folder (.html, .jpeg, .txt etc.)

If the file, whether it be a .desc, .sc4model, .sc4lot, .dat all go into the Plugin folder under SimCity 4 in your Documents... Unless told otherwise in the Download's description.

Once you extract the Zipped folder you just place the contents into your Plugins folder, unless the readme says otherwise. If there is no Zipper, you just place the "blank paper icon" straight into the plug ins folder.

Essentially, read the Readmes and try different things out, see what works for you  ;)

If you need any further assistance, PM me...
Adrian.

Just to keep you all informed, I am finally starting work on updating this.  Unfortunately the STEX appears to have been completely restructured resulting in new links.  I think it's not a big job to change them, but STEX is down again so I can't check.  It's a simple change that I will apply shortly.  The STEX links will be working again soon.

Anyways, there are about an additional 300 or so to add, so it'll be a while before I get them all up there.

Please keep posting if you find any errors, Now I understand how the list works on here I will try and keep it updated more regularly.

Just saw this... the list on the site is about 670 long, and I am in the process of adding a further 200 or so.

is there a cleanitole file of the dep.list? if yes where is it? if no why not?

To create a cleanitol for these you would need to download every single file, copy the names of all the files they contain into a txt document, and the link after it.  Given there are nearly 900 of them, and most of them contain multiple files...  Nope.. not going to happen. :-[

Yeah, nobody in their right mind would even attempt it. (https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi91.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fk301%2Fditareinvented%2Fth221824845.gif&hash=7e86c9b1456ff5a0ea30f3b35c594b67f0d1b19b)

The biggest problem with having a Cleanitol like this would be that people would use it, thinking that just because a file is on the list, it's a standard dependency for many of the lots they'll want to use, so they'll download every file, and end up with a couple gigabytes of props that will never show up in-game. Or, a lotter will use some obscure prop they found while searching through the list, along with several BSC prop packs, at least one of which would most likely contain a suitable alternative. PIMX, with it's LE-X makes this even more of a possibility, since you can actually see each prop before you place it. Of course being able to also see a substitute in PIMX, that is in a prop pack that you've already used for another prop, is also a possibility.

Not that every prop a lotter would ever use will be nicely wrapped up in a BSC Mega Prop Pack. There are quite a few really good props that have been made through the years by individuals and teams not affiliated with BSC. But, mostLEX uploads make use of the Mega Packs, as those are the props we (BSC) are most familiar with, and generally prefer. Plus, it limits the number of dependencies to a level comfortable enough with most players, and limits the number of files in our plugins (in theory at least).

For the dependencies you need, the best place to start is (almost) always the ReadMe file (that should have been) included with the lot.

Of course, you could always check the Cleanitols For Free thread (link's in my signature), for specific things. Reminds me, I need to get back to work on that, huh?

Right... just in case anyone is actually checking, I am marking the changes I make.  Just because they say done, doesn't mean I have uploaded the change yet.  The changes will be uploaded when I am finished adding the packs.  And I just realised that I had forgotten the STEX textures.  :'(

This was listed as Dependencies for SimGoober's Pepsi Bottling Company and they are not on your list.  Don't know if it is listed with a different name.

BSC Mega Props CP_PropPack_Vol01.dat

This Pack is also not on your list.  I found it on the LEX though.  It says that it is lots but SimGoober listed it as a Dependency for one of his lots.
SimCityRail Utility Lots  The actual listing said BSC_SimCityRailUtils_v2.dat I am not sure if it is the same pack or not.

There are over 880 entries on the list so I almost certainly have made some mistakes, and possibly missed a few.  Please inform me here of any missing or broken links and provide new links if possible.

I'm just updating the list to show what was included on the DVD or the CD so those member who have received those will know what they have installed.

BSC Mega Texture Pack as far as I know was merged into the BSC Textures Vol 01 File. So essentially that particular one shouldn't truly be used anyhow. I stand corrected if this is truly wrong, but from what I've read and researched when reinstalling stuff kinda helped me know which files were replaced or merged into others.... :)

You are correct with the texture pack and the PEG-OWW dat may have been phased out by Pegasus.

I know that all this dependency stuff has to take a long time to organize. I was just curious if anyone has ever thought of developing a utility that would install dependencies for us. Here is why I ask, I have been a long time fan of the Tiger Woods golf games for the PC (not of his personal life, if you know what I mean). They had a very nice course creator with the game and lots of really good visionaries created very nice courses for the game. In order to make all the dependencies manageable for the users to install, the course creator would bundle all the dependencies along with the course in a ZIP file. When the end user downloaded the course ZIP and installed with the created utility, the utility would search in the correct place to see if you already had the dependency and if you did would give you a pop up stating that you already had that dependency and that you didn't need it again.
Has anyone ever ventured to creating such a utility? It just seems that the Cleanitol, although being a nice utility, isn't quite as clean of an operation.

Thoughts??????

Well if each Lot/Download had a specific Dependency section in their Description with a HTML tag with a specific ID and the list of dependency inside the tag. And is identical on each description page. Then a program could be made to automatically download dependencies. And the LEX would be the best SC4 exchange on the net even more than it is already.

But the the actual reason I came to this thread was to say that this dependency doesn't seem to be on the list: BSC Mega Props - CP Vol 01 .

The reason they aren't on there is there wasn't an upload with that name when I created the list originally.  I went through every upload on the STEX and PLEX (as they were the only 2 at the time) and created this list linking to the latest version.   If there wasn't an original upload to BSC_Essentials_OG then it won't show on the list.

While it would be nice, I have to draw the line somewhere.  If I get time I might manage it.

It's located at the official EA SimCity4 web site ... you need to log in to see the links. They're called 'Simcity buildings as props' and if you're looking for vol2 then you're probably looking for the 'RushHour buildings as props' link.

It would be nice if that was possible, but I never heard of a gigabyte file size being able to be downloaded at rapid speed. I see what your saying, but now calculate how long SC4 takes to load with a bunch more plugins, then you have to calculate the time it takes to wait to download. I certainly do not want everything ever made, because the size is way too big, not like that will happen. You definitely do not want server connection time outs.

However, it would be great if someone else could host, because some countries, while they did have their own limited selection of Maxis buildings, they did not get ALL Maxis buildings like Lucky's Hang Ten, Shorty Burger. I still can not get over why Japan's Maxis site did not even get the Maxis made Seoul Gate download. That also goes for the Tai site, which, lost the .exe building installers after EA broke updated the site, it does not even redirect to the US site to download.

Not to mention the DLC only versions of SC4 EA put out in to internet retailers don't all use the same product registration system like when SC4 came in a box, so its not like those people are going to go to the Maxis site to access those, unless someone from EA tech support gives a rats enough to take care of their valued customers, and if you ever had to make a phone call, be put on hold, you know how that goes. It would be a lot easier, and appreciated if someone could host at least the lost Maxis files.

No, there isn't, for a number of reasons:

1. Creator credit and copyright.  People put a lot of work into these and they deserve the credit for it.  The sites here have the stuff in the manner intended by the creators. Additionally it allows them control over the version available and the ability to update it.

2. The file would be huge, very huge, and it would blow through any private websites allowance very quickly with everyone downloading it.

3. You don't need all of these.  In fact you don't need most of them.  If you are downloading from here 90% of the stuff you'll need is on the LEX as well and should be linked to it.  You can click add to download list and then use the BSC downloader to pull it all down in one batch.

Alternatively, most of the files needed are on the BSC DVD which is available for a small donation to help the site run.

That prop is by gizmo and here (http://gizmo.webspaceforme.net/index.php) is his site.
Register if you need to, than go to down loads, than to vehicle props.

Hi, Kevin ...
You can get APTX Prop Packs on this site ... In Fileexcahange > "Category Search" >  > "Dependency - Props", see APTX Props ... But You must have a separate registration for "Download section" ...
Good luck ...

Hi Silur,

Thanks for the help but each time I try to download both of these packs it asks for a password when I'm un-zipping them.  ?

HI there Kevin when you go to open the files after downloading successfully it wants a password to extract them? I am understanding that correctly or is it where you cant even download the file at all?

EDIT:  OK so I went to Aptx props on the LEX and I was able to download them all and unzip them no problems without it asking me for any passwords... Are you registered on the LEX at all to download? Do you have a separate program that had a trial version that had expired that requires you to buy it now before you can extract any files further?

The readme lists these dependencies

StreetlightColourPackV2_LightCones.dat from cogeo's Streetlight Colour pack V2
StreetlightColourPackV2_Lamppost$$$Fix.dat from cogeo's Streetlight Colour pack V2
StreetlightColourPackV2_LampAuraColorTinted.dat from cogeo's Streetlight Colour pack V2

which you can find here  http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/12336-street-light-colour-pack-v2/

hope that helps

all of the STEX dependence urls have migrated to different links, or were removed from there, and just link to the main page at the STEX.
Anyone noticed this yet?

I saw FANTA's works about one month ago on China site, can't see it now ...
And one - Your link lead me to nothing - it's a thread ABOUT FANTA's simple MMP created by Craig-Abcvs !!! Can't see FANTA ...

ZERO answers on SIMPEG about FANTA now ...
Thank You, in any case ...

99% of the STEX links changed and just link back to the main page, and the search function does not yeild results for some with 1-2 letter/number combos in the names.(and again, some were removed.)

Its still possible to find it, but in some cases the plugin no longer exists on the STEX, I have been working on a Custom Content Catalog over at City Builders

http://citybuilders.co.nz/joomla/index.php/en/

you currently need to be a registered user to see it and it is very much a work in progress, as I said previously I'm happy to help

It's possible, with the STEX links that they ID number in the link is still valid and it's just the first part that needs changing.  That's how it originally worked.

Hi Diggis

Nice to see a post from you, I miss your MD

and yes if you paste this into a web browser  http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/27694-  it should take you to the right plugin, but there also seems to have been a lot of deletions on the STEX so that's not always a guaranteed result.

This issue has been found and resolved and found again, it simply will not die  :P

So, let's resolve it again.  There are three Dependency Lists on SC4D (well, three I've found, there may be even more).  None of them have the latest STEX address formatting, because they haven't been updated in a while.  However, after ST changed its addresses, they realized they broke older links, and added a fix that grandfathered old addresses into the new system.  Unfortunately, it only works with the most recent previous addresses, and there are even older ones out there that are still in use.

The only Dependency List whose STEX links work correctly is this one (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?page=4).  This is the page you get if you click on the "boxes?" picture in the menu to your left.

DO NOT USE either the one on the LEX (here (http://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_depend00.html)), or the one that is linked in the first page of this thread (here (http://www.sc4devotion.com/dependencies.html)), as these are both outdated and very broken in regard to STEX links.  It would literally take a minute each to fix these pages, but someone with access to the webpage server would have to do it so they could reupload the corrected pages.

As mentioned above, there is no getting around files that have been deleted, or sites that no longer exist - except to ask around and see if someone knows if/where the files can still be found.

I don't know where the first 2 lists are from....  :o  The one linked by the boxes is the only one I knew existed and have ever updated.

Just updated my dependencies once more.. ^^

Noticed that the link for "BSC Props Pack CP Vol02" isn't correct.. It refers to his Vol01 instead.. Either it's the wrong link/package or the real "BSC Mega Pack CP Vol02" isn't listed at all.. which replaces his old "CP Props Pack 2009a" :D

Here's the one I googled:

For Teacat's Summerton Mill Farm, the following is listed as a dependency: ALN_Wooden Fence_Beta
Link - http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=2352.0
I can't find anything by ALN or wooden fences as a prop, though there are ploppable wooden fences in the Rural Renewal project this seems to link to.

Help? It's the last missing piece for the Mill Farm.

Thanks!

First of all a bit of housekeeping ... if anyone wants to go thru and delete my previous posts here it would be appreciated, secondly

The CATALOG is now a picture gallery, the link remains unchanged  https://city-builders.info/catalog

Given what happened with SimPeg and having a list of what was on the PLEX providing quite handy to have, I am adding my lists showing what was in each of the various site exchanges to here

https://city-builders.info/cb-documents/11-catalog-by-website

Once added I won't be updating them again, you will note that not all the LEX is listed, I have split it up as its too big to post in the one document, the first list is the Dependencies.

https://city-builders.info/cb-documents/11-catalog-by-website/49-sc4-devotion-exchange-lex-dependencies

The rest will be posted tonight ... more exchange lists to follow after this

Long time between updates ... just to let people know that I have finally finished uploading the Simtropolis list, because of its size it had to be split up into 27 lists based on the letters of the alphabet

https://city-builders.info/cb-documents/11-catalog-by-website

Just a reminder that I have stopped updating these lists, but I still have about three partial lists like the French site toutsimcities that I may end up completing    "$Deal"$    :)

If you are referring to the City-builders website it wasn't exactly a new site as I set it up in 2010 ... and also apologies I did put out a number of notices that the site was being shutdown last year and the contents transferred over to Simtropolis, but at the time I had a lot of stuff going on in real life so obviously have missed a few places.

Anyway I'm assuming you are referring to the custom content lists that used to be on the CB Website these are now on the Omnibus under CATALOG

https://community.simtropolis.com/omnibus/simcity-4/reference/omnibus-sitemap-draft-only-r571/

The custom content that used to be on the site is either on the STEX or its over here

https://community.simtropolis.com/clubs/26-city-builders-website/

under FILES or is it one of Paeng forum attachments then its over here
