Cool, glad you got better textures.
And congrats on being the featured wiki article!

That GLR line looks great! I love how all the overpasses fit in, and it's making me want to switch to the old GLR textures... is there any way to use the new ones on the full-tile-wide GLR and the old ones on the rural?

And I'll say it again, nice video!  &apls

deathtopumpkins:  You will see them in this update!  You can find a textureless GLR line near the end of the GLR menu.  Just press TAB a lot! :P  Glad you enjoyed the video!

south park:  Thanks!  Glad you enjoyed the update and the video!

mrtnrln:  Yay! You liked it!  That update didn't even focus on the highway, but the GLR line within it.  :P

Update Time!

This update will show ongoing developments in Terran Settlement.  The region is always expanding!

Pictures

Looking at same RHW featured in the last update.  As it enters the older part of the city, its huge 7 tile median has completely vanished!  The pic that showed where the GLR line enters the subway system just below this pic.
-This stretch is becoming congested.  Luckily, the city left enough right-of-way to rebuild/widen the highway if needed, so reconstruction is easy.

Zoning of a new area.  The high towers overlooking it shows the how high the land value is.

Moments later, the area explodes into a gigantic construction site due to this.

A long section of FAR links up a road running parallel to the Multi-RHW in this new part of town.

Wow, I love the new sandstone textures for the NAM avenue curves.  It really beautifies this road which was somewhat bland before.

The riverfront is being rebuilt.  Note the new use of seawalls too.

A casino has been built in a newly zoned area close to the RHW with GLR features in the lat update.  A off-ramp from the northbound RHW directly connects it with the casino, and thus makes it more attractive for casino-goers.

The morning commute begins early for those who want to beat the rush.

Because as the sun rises, so does the amount of traffic.

By mid-morning, congestion begins to get heavy if you're headed to downtown (like most are).

That'll do it for now.  I hope you enjoyed it!

Best,
-Haljackey

Really? What do you mean by textureless? I just wanted to use the old textures on rural and the new ones on urban...

Wow! That amount of construction is impressive! And the urban stretch of FAR's pretty good too. I see you got it to support RCI zoning.

Noticed one thing interesting though: The stretch of MIS extended along the avenue in the casino shot. Extra travel lane for the avenue?

Lastly, I really like how you got that shot with the elevated avenue to fit together! Excellent!

deathtopumpkins:  Well, those are the new textures :P.  Try this:  click the GLR puzzle pieces icon and press TAB many times.  Near the end of the cycle you will find GLR networks with a lot of different textures, including one that doesn't have one!  That's the one I used!
-Glad you enjoyed the update!  And yes, that extra MIS lane directly connects the casino with the highway.

Pat:  Hey, thanks a lot!  Its great to see you back!

Simpson:  Thank you very much!

art128:  Hey, thanks a lot!  Glad you liked the video!

mrtnrln:  Yes it is.  Glad you enjoyed the update!

warconstruct:  Thanks!  Yeah, I don't like pure grids, so I break away when I can!

bat:  Thank you!  Glad you liked the video!

Update Time!

So... What's going on in downtown?  You know, that huge city with 3.2 million sims?  I haven't posted an update about it in a bit, so the next two will focus on it.  I hope you enjoy it!

A traffic jam along a GLR-in ave, intersecting a RHW expressway in the city's southwest.  Traffic jams are common in this dense city, but the sheer size and quality of its infrastructure keep it from reaching total gridlock.

The last few open areas in the city are being rapidly consumed with highrises.

This picture is meant to show the actual roads of the city, not just the highways.  Note how they carve themselves through the skyscrapers in a non-grid setup.

A tight, raised avenue interchange.

A unique interchange in the city's north.  Just beyond that boarder is Terran Settlement.

RHW expressway in the city's west.  Note the new smooth curves.

-This is what it looked like a long time ago:  (sorry, not full resolution.)

Lare avenue intersection.

Some recent development.

New buildings overlook the RHW/ground highway transition.

Convention Centre.

Anyways, I hoped you enjoyed a look at downtown again!  More is to come!

Hmmm... really? I know the pedmall textures are in there... I'll try it and then edit this post next time I get to play.

That is a lot of traffic!

And some neat interchanges, I really like the before-and-after shots with the RHW curve.

And that convention center's a neat building.

Is that a 7-way intersection? :o :o :o  That would be a mess to drive through, at least for me.  Your transit system is intricately designed in these shots, as it has always been, and you have made some fine skyscraper choices.  Great job, Haljackey!

Wonderful work!

Great updates Hal! You do have some truly eccentric architecture... (this one and the one on the left)

(ooh i forgot to look for one of my police cars...)
There's a couple! I am now satisfied for all eternity that at least SOMEONE uses my mods in their MD... ()stsfd() they're in this image...

EDIT: I oughta change my user image now that i don't use that cop car anymore...
My days here are numbered. It's been great and I've had a lot of fun, but I've moved on to bigger and better things.

caspervg:  Hey, thanks a lot!

deathtopumpkins:  Yep, its there.  Did you find it?  Glad you liked the update!

art128:  Thank you very much!

metarvo:  I guess it is a 7-way :P.  But believe me, it really relives traffic congestion.  In that area you can totally bypass this junction if you are going straight through, so you only need to use the intersection if you are turning.
-Thanks for the comments!  Without such a good infrastructure, a city this dense would not exist :P

bat:  Hey, thanks a lot!

Pat:  Thanks a lot!  Ya, that intersection is nuts eh?  But its unique!

nerdly_dood:  Well, I don't, my sims do.  Most of the stuff you see in the GTR is grown, that's why you may see a few repeating buildings here and there.  However, I plop if I know something looks good there.
-And yes, I am now using your cop car mod.  I hope to see you back!

Update Time!

This is the second (and final) update showcasing my largest city as it continues to grow more and more.

Pictures
Click on the images for full resolution!  (1920x1200)

In the early days of the city, many RHWs were built to connect the city to its neighbour, Crossings, to the south (Crossings is the oldest city in the GTR).  Most of the RHWs ended when they entered what was the edge of the city at that time.  Today, the city has expanded all the way to the boarder, overshadowing the RHW connections like this one:

Here's an older, lower capacity RHW/elevated highway interchange.  Some may say it is a diamond, others say its a volleyball.  The truth is its actually in its own unique class, sharing attributes of both.

A old-school, pre-MIS interchange which still exists to this day.  Due to space constraints, and the heavy traffic use, the city has decided not to change this to MIS because more land would be consumed and construction would cause backups.

However, not all interchanges are to be left as they are.  This interchange is being upgraded to MIS.

An interesting shot of 3 types of RHWs in the city south.
-A multi-RHW
-A sunken RHW (with old textures)
-A classic RHW

Looking at another RHW connector in the city's south.  Heavy traffic jams are common when the highway reaches its termini.

New developments in the city's north.  3 Identical towers overlook the huge monument.  The mayor frequently visits this place.   8)

Looking at another connecting RHW.  Note the at-grade GLR crossing.

A section of a large mass-transit interchange in the city's west.  This is where all the lines combine to form the huge mass-transit network that reaches the main stations in Witburg.

I'll end this update with one of the many tight stack interchanges found in Downtown.

Well, that does it for this update.

Stay tuned!  I have something special planned for the next update! (Hint Hint :D)

Best,
-Haljackey
