Title: Phoenix Project - 20 years SC4 Challenge
Post by: Akallan on August 03, 2016, 07:47:09 AM
(https://zupimages.net/up/23/07/8in4.png)

New project to replace that of the R.C.D. which suffered from save bugs. Phoenix Project, because as legend has it, when it dies, the bird is consumed in the flames to be reborn again and start its cycle again!

This project radically changes concept compared to the R.C.D. The goal is no longer to organize and plan the entire construction of a region but to create scenes and landscapes where MMP's are most often used. These scenes are all fictitious and the photos are not retouched by image software in order to maintain maximum authenticity.

Story of an inhabitant:
"Legend has it that 11th century, a small ship would be near a large creek during an autumn night. It seems that they saw a strange light shining from above, the captain ordered to land on a beach a few kilometers from this cliff. Throughout the night, the team of sailors marched through the forest. At dawn, the team finally reaches the top of the cliff, we could not see the light because of the sunrise, the marine team decides to mount camps waiting to see the famous light.

Night came, and still nothing ... The nights go, the weeks go ... But nothing, no light. Lack of resources there, the sailors began to turn back. They left the island, thinking that it was madness or the region were enchanted. No matter for them, it's time to leave!

The creek is discovered, but the mystery remains. During the late 17th century, it will Edvard Neliah, a little superstitious adventurer out to conquer the creek with settlers in search of glory and honor. At their establishment at the top of the cliff, nothing happened during nights ... Until one night, the light appears next to the village, Neliah will rush alone to view it, more he approached, and more the light disappeared into the dark forest.
In the morning, the villagers realized that Neliah was not there, they decided to go looking for him. Until late in the day, no one found the man, and no trace. Neliah was never found and will be reported missing or dead. The settlers decided to name the creek "Neliah", in honor of the first man died on this land that thanks to him, a village was built."

Since the disappearance of Edvard Neliah, the region counted a dozen earthquakes, the last earthquake dates back about two months., and the village was depopulated a little more each earthquake.

Today, the villagers believe hard as iron in this legend. But scientists are trying to find explanations, in vain.

I wish you all a good visit this famous cliff! See you soon!

vinlabsc3k : Thank you very much! I would have preferred that the tasks appear thinner as shown in the fourth image (from the top). But as you walk away with the zoom, tasks stand out much. &mmm Thank you for the comment, it's true that I could, I wanted to avoid doing too much text. I'll be careful next time.
Kergelen : Thank you very much Kergelen! :)
kbieniu7 : Thank you for all the compliments kbieniu7! ;D
Seaman : Thank you! No, this road MMP is only "eye-candy". ;)
art128 : Thank you very much art128! Yes, it is true that the area is dense enough for the next I'll try to do something lighter. ;)
manga rivotra : Thank you for your comment, it's always fun!
Vizoria : Thank you for your comment! I do not quite understand your question, what is related to my terrain textures?
Themistokles : Thank you Thermistokles! :D

Great start!! &apls &apls &apls
I love the spotted asphalt, as in RL, and the rurality of the scenes.
But, in some images, the captions are missing such in the last one describing it as Neliah Lodge or similar. ;)

Well, that's... that's pretty awesome!  :o The road, made of ploppable asphalts - it looks impressive, no grid anymore! And I imagine, how much work have you put in there. Me, sometimes I made a small stretch of MMP asphalt and I'm annoyed after just few minutes :D Everything looks great, the place is incredible in general (I try to imagine seawave sounds too feel it more :D ), while it is all perfect even in tine details. This one, with that tenement on the corner, is my favourite

Really, really awesome work

<sighs> That MMPing is so beautiful. You know how to cluster areas with a maximum amount of flora items and then go sparse and minimal. Fantastic farmland to. Are those your own terrain textures? If they are then they are really good and organic-looking.

Stunning landscape! The mmp work that you have done is absolutely breath-taking! And at that level of detail, with the course of the run-off water showing... &apls I, for one, would not mind visiting Creek Neliah! :D

In the far north, a territory lost through time in almost total silence and gives way to the fantastic white world: that of Höreinn! The huge territory has never been colonized, too wild and cold, it has pushed the men set foot there permanently. It is only since the late 20th century a few huts and cottages were built. The first buildings were those of came poachers hunt bear and some deer, then melting ice will still come men on land. The region still may be populated by a few hundred men in the next ten years, actually, with melting ice, some oil companies plan to drill offshore where it was impossible to reach there half a century...

Höreinn still keeps its splendor, here are some pictures to illustrate it. This is a small update, because winter and snow miss with the hot weather!

I hope you enjoy it, see you soon!

The largest chalet of any Höreinn! Set in the very south of the territory, he undergoes a milder climate than the rest of the territory to the north...

... Finally, we are still in the North!

The bear is getting lost...

Themistokles : Thank you Themistokles! I try to innovate a little bit, but create winter landscapes in SC4 is very complicated. But it will probably not be the last! ;)

I'm enjoying where this is going, Akallan.   That lodge on the cliff's edge at the end of the winding road at Creek Neliah looks like it has a nice crowd parked there.  I can't blame them; it looks like a beautiful area!

Of course, I like the snow in Höreinn very much as well.  The falling snow in the second pic is a lovely bonus.

Seven days the emperor was murdered in the capital. Seven days, that the Empire is destabilized and frightened people. No one knows who the meurtrier is and for which it acts, can be an enemy of the Empire or a coup of state...

But today is another day, that of a new emperor will rule as wisely as possible. We must restore the situation, the Empire needs a strong man ...

The sun just beginning to rise as the city is already in motion, the garrison army prepares and secures down the path that the Emperor during his walk to the cathedral to take the wish. Meanwhile the lost in the countryside, the emperor prepares his speech at the castle, which is three hours on horseback from the capital. When he leaves, he will be escorted to the royal guard, his wife, his two children and other statesmen and religious. When he arrives in the capital, it will take about thirty minutes before arriving at the cathedral to finally complete the ceremony. As time passes and more people in the city is excited, there are people angry and more happy to finally have someone on the throne to regain control of the situation before things degenerate. Indeed, there has already been some revolts around the country, often small but end badly.

Finally, it is high time that the Emperor sits on the throne, it is carried by a long reign worthy of the name!

In this city is restless, but less campaign. The Emperor does not always win the heart of the rural population, poorer it has little to the life of these people. "A man or another to the throne, it changes nothing for us! It is not they who will reap wheat.", Said an old farmer.

A small stream, near the castle from which governs the Emperor.

Near the stream, the monks of the monastery are preparing for the ceremony.

The cathedral, great symbol of Dahammas capital. The streets are crowded and it is difficult to move about, the army prepares the way.

The Emperor should leave soon...

... Even though the quiet and beautiful scenery make you want to stay there!

Great story and MMP work!! &apls &apls

The only flaw is the castle use.
As it is located, it could be used more for an hunt or a retreat from court life than as a royal palace.
Maybe you want use the castle as a fortress to protect the ascendant to the throne. ;)

art128 : Thank you art128! :)
manga rivotra : Thank you for your comment! :)

To your question, there is an MMP that Girafe to create my request.

Initially, it is the plant Narcissus (seasonal), but the problem with it, when the winter season comes, the plant Narcissus disappears. This does not please me, as for my work, I need to have plants which are always there, otherwise, over time I have holes everywhere. To solve this problem, I ask for help at Girafe, so he could create me this plant can be seen in the menu "Herbe". He took the plant seasonal Narcissus, then from it he created the MMP with just grass, no flower. I have two MMP named "Herbe" from the menu. One comes from the MMP Narcissus (seasonal) and the other of Sparaxis (seasonal).

I sent a private message to Girafe there a moment about these two grass plants. I asked him if it was possible to share with the community, I think both MMP can be very helpful for people. I still awaiting a response from him.

Meanwhile, I can only suggest you use the Narcissus or Sparaxis season. Even though I know it's not ideal... &mmm
mgb204 : Yes bikes are actually better. But these are Props, it is not you these bikes MMP?

Great stuff! I remember when I created paths with the RRP MMPs and damn it can be very frustrating. (specially if you don't have a steady hand)

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your great talent with MMPs, and all these links.
I have just one question: at 7:35 you start to use grass ( it's written "herbe" in your menu )  that looks very similar to Girafe's cattails but smaller, did you resized them, or si it something different ?

It's probably the Pampa Grass (Herbes Pampas). It's included in the VIP Rural Pack (http://sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=12695.0).

You link to NBVC's MMP Bikes, if I may be so bold, Girafe made a new set of models for me last year. It contains more colour variants (20 total) in Ortho/Diag rotations and I find the quality to be much better than other bike props I could find.

The sun shines draining land in early summer, the south wind sweeps before the doors of houses. Today, the thermometer rise to 34°C on average across the country, the region of Eréphore was most affected by the heat wave, could be measured around noon a temperature of 39°C! Eréphore is one of two regions of the southernmost countries and their Mediterranean climate, the olives trees are thriving and are walking in part with the local economy behind tourism. This part of the country yet still remains very poor, people live mainly from agriculture, fishing and a few small travails often not reported to the state.

Have fun watching these images, this is only the first part of Eréphore. Indeed, the work done so far is huge and is not finished yet. I have many ideas to run for the next update always on the same topic, and I do not want to wait several weeks before a new entry (soon it's been a month that I work on this update ). I wish you all a good viewing, see you soon!

The "Blue Line" is the line of the oldest railway in the country, it has that name because it runs along the sea. Built during the First World War, in 1915, it was used primarily to link the north the territory to the south for the supply of the army. The end of the war, the line will operate for civilian use, and rail will grow in the country.

The Thylis, a small River rises about 50 km to the west in the massive Gormios. The river is known for the motorway viaduct that crosses from east to west. Completed in 2008, it serves the Eréphore other region.

The old tower, so she is appointed. This type of building built in the Middle Ages is common in the south. It was used to alert the town in case of an attack with a trumpet. At that time, there were often raids in villages.

The plateau Eréphore with its abbey overlooking the semi-desert terrain, it is crossed by the National Road 7.

A small village almost deserted, there are still 13 people... The houses each turn fall into ruin.

Also, I actually think the Millau Viaduct looks good here. Gives your picture an extra added dimension.

What I've already written at TSC, it's fantastic! It's actually one of the best udpates, I've ever seen. A beautiful ladscape, greatly done MMPs, stunning river (I love how you've made its embankments) and a well-fitted real-life reference.

And the photo showing the plateau - magnificient! Like it was taken from an area, that is much bigger, not just a small few tiles prepared for a tiny photo  &apls

And here is the second part of Eréphore! I wish you all with a little bit of advance, good holidays of end of years!

A small village in the area, a few tourists pass by here to visit the fort and hike along the river.

One of the two arms of the Thylis, The flow of the river is not very large and fertilizes not much land. Over the past thirty years, the flow of the river has further diminished due to increasingly intense farming.

In the mountain of Gormios there is an ancient ruin of an ancient temple. It was destroyed by an earthquake around 500 AD and plundered intensely after that.

The city center of Erephore and capital of the region, there are about 120'000 inhabitants.

Upon returning to the "Blue Line", we can see the old desalination plant built some fifteen years ago and still functioning today. Due to demographic growth, in recent years, this plant is not enough and a second bigger one has been built.

Mon Dieu!

It's amazing! This river, with its banks being so smooth... and covered by wheat, it's incredible... The same with the city - looks like we're looking at Badsims's screens!

But what I like the most is the water desalination facility... although, I think it might be too small (you know, for a big city, much more of - let's say just - stuff is needed and what is more, desalination process is quite energy-consuming, so some electricity supply should be handy there)... However, it's just my techincal opinion, I really like the concept and putting a pipeline into the landscape - that makes my souvenirs from France almost complete! :D

I sat there wondering why you hadn't made sure that the water completely covered the ground. Watch my awe as you turned random water splotches into incredibleness!

Of course, it doesn't help that southern California has essentially no water (though we've gotten the rain storms recently). Still, this is incredible. Moreso to see the process; hopefully it won't stay put there by itself, though? Have some other farms and villages nearby?

Vizoria : Replies to ST: Thank you. I did not want to take a close look at deforestation for a number of reasons. The first reason is that a close-up would have asked for more details and therefore more time. The second reason, with a bigger zoom on deforestation is less impressive: if one takes the first and last image of deforestation there is a clear difference.

The goal of the first part of the video is not to do anything incredibly detailed with the MMP, but simply to see "live" deforstation.
korver : Thank you korver! :)

As I mentioned on Simtropolis it's a great video. Great natural scenes. But it would have been nice to see some close-ups of that deforestation.

Located in Southeast Asia and in the Pacific Ocean, the Archipelago of Brebes and a group of 67 islands spanning about 580 kilometers and also the country of Halruaah. The largest island is 120 kilometers long by 40 wide and is home to the capital Kawayan. The archipelago was colonized about 70,000 years ago by men, from 500 BC the archipelago became highly coveted by its resources and its strategic position, it will be the scene of numerous territorial clashes between several neighboring countries. It was in 1760 that the British Empire took power from the archipelago and added a new colony to its list. Two centuries later, the local population revolted, and demanded its independence. After the Second World War, the United Kingdom can not preserve its authority against revolt because it demands too much military and financial means, it folds and the independence of the country will be officially signed on June 6, 1953. The civil war will cost the life of 150,000 citizens.

Today, the archipelago of Brebes has just over 15 million inhabitants, the majority of which are concentrated in Kawayan. The poverty line decreases ant the unemployment rate of 11.2% of the active population. The country's main economy comes from tourism, oil and copper. Have a nice trip!

Kawayan, the largest city and capital of the country. The population reaches 9'000'000 in 2016 and demographers estimate that the city is reaching 10'000'000 inhabitants in about twenty years. The city is contrasted by poor neighborhoods, other neighborhoods rise with large buildings blending British architecture in the modern Asian and Australian era.

There are a multitude of small villages like this spread over the entire archipelago. Most of these villages depend on fishing and agriculture, for some of them tourism operates the local economy.

One of the four airfields in the country. Built in 1940 during the Second World War, it served the British Army for military operations on the islands neighboring archipelago. The aerodrome has been classified as one of the worst in the world by an aeronautical review because of its delicate position between the ocean and the cliffs, the pilots have courage ... There have already happened a few accidents, but never anything serious.

An old colonial house of the British Empire isolated from everything.

In the archipelago still lives some indigenous tribes they live mainly of the fishing. There are about 1,700 natives scattered over several islands.

After the war, the country developed to the detriment of the natives.

One of the few stream in the whole archipelago.

The Hainia Atoll. It takes millions of years for an atoll to form: at first it is a volcano to which coral is formed around it in shallow and warm waters. The volcano collapses until it disappears completely leaving behind only a coral reef in the form of a ring. This process takes several million years.

In 2006, a man was found on an island in the archipelago, surviving for a dozen years before a fisherman's boat noticed an unusual activity on the island. The man had made a huge fire and kept it up for several days before anyone noticed his presence. He says he had a great holiday!

praiodan : Thank you praiodan! :)
feyss : Thank you, I hope it woke you up! :P
Nanami : Well, here I am ridiculous! In what you tell me and the internet link you shared there are many coincidences with my update:

1. That is to say, the Brexit is in connection with Great Britain and in my CJ I speak of it with the British colony.
2. The name of the archipelago "Brebes" is random, I did not know that this city name existed in Indonesia.
3. I was inspired by the Indonesian archipelago and the climate. That is why in my CJ the islands are in the same place as the real Indonesia (south-east Asia, in the Pacific Ocean and close to the Indian Ocean).

All this is only coincidences and nothing has been done on purpose, it is very funny to see this situation, a little embarrassing I must say.

Thank you very much for your comment anyway!
korver : Thank you very much korver! :)
manga rivotra : Thank you so much for your kind words!
Kergelen : Thank you, I'm glad you like it. :)
siemanthepieman : Thank you, it has not been obvious to me to make the most accurate translations possible.
Themistokles : Thank you very much for your comment, it pleases me. :)
To be honest, I do not remember the time it took me to do this update, because I started creating the scenes and for a while I did not do anything until I Resume work. The mmping scenes are not the longest to make, it takes about 3 time per scene (this is an average, it will also depend on the size of the image). Urban scenes are long to do, it takes me a lot of hours because you have to do all the lots one by one.

Interesting and great work here!

Anyway I love how you put everything in the history of the state as well as the statistic of it. Pretty realistic I have to say. As for the SC4 pictures, I can't find any image that I dont like  . I really like specifically the MMP as well as lotting work on this entry. It must took a lot of patience to done it.  &apls &apls

btw a little bit trivial, did you know that real Brebes last year is known with its deadly "Brexit" incident (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3678467/Is-world-s-worst-traffic-jam-Fifteen-people-die-getting-caught-gridlock-Indonesian-junction-named-BREXIT.html). Hello everyone,

It has been a long time since I came on the forums, tonight I come back with a new video... A video a bit special, it's the first time I spend so much time to achieve one. It took me more or less two weeks, during all my evenings to lay this video, there are more than eight hours of films that had to be sorted and compressed. But the biggest particularity of this video is that it appeals to 21 other people than me, without whom, I could never make this video as we know it today!

I want to thank everyone who took some of their time to make the video!

Good viewing! :)

kbieniu7 : Salut kbieniu! :)

Thank you very much for your comment, it makes me very happy! This video occupied me a lot of time and I thought that my girlfriend would end up hating me by talking to her! XD

More seriously, I am happy that this video is published, I learned a lot by making this video and I improved myself a lot. I had to find solutions to make this video, because it was complicated at the beginning, was not at the base a director, I had to make the video twice ...

For the anecdote: I had the first time do the video until the time of the rebirth about (4:08 minutes), I had already prepared a montage to have a preview of the result of the work that I had done so far. Unfortunately, I did a clumsy manipulation and that led to the deletion of video files ... It was about 4-5 hours of videos! I had to start all over again and start the video again at the beginning.

Filming the second video took me a total of 8 hours of videos, which are after sorted (removing unwanted parts) and compressed video time. What took me the longest was the lotting, there are about 130 lots in total including 30 lots for road / street textures. I spent a lot of my nights listening to several music to select the one that corresponds most to my video (it took long enough music, it's complicated to find something that looks like video).

The last part that took a little time (it's also my fault) is the request to share images to all the players ... I made the request to 28 players and 21 players answered me (all positive). It was necessary to select the images, to resize them for the most part and to credit them.

But finally, this work was long to prepare and realize it, but I am happy to present it to you. It seems to me that for the first time in a video of SC4, several players are included in it, and this is really important for me, it's symbolic: the SC4 community, together, under the same banner!
Badsim : Salut Cédric!

The wait was shorter because I had more time than expected to work on it! ;)
Thank you for sharing the photos, I'm really glad you participated in my project! Thanks also for the k-point! ;D
Themistokles : Thank you very much Themistokles! I am honored just as much than you to have worked with an image of your CJ! ;D
feyss : Thank you very much feyss, it makes me very happy!
_Michael : Thank you very much Michael! :)
belfastsocrates : Thank you very much! :)
Simmer2 : Thank you!
Tyberius06 : Age of Empire ... It is also my childhood, and now that you say it, it is true that there is a small resemblance! Thank you for your comment! ;D
Terring7 : Thank you! :)
noahclem : Thank you noahclem! :)
eggman121 : Yes, it takes time but it's also a lot of fun! :)

I remember AoE 2, I made beautiful cities well fortified and the invaders could never take me the city. I would have to see to buy it again, I lost the old CD! : / At the moment, I'm playing Anno and Civilization.

Thank you for your comment! ;)
mattb325 : Thank you very much! :)
Nanami : Thank you very much for your kind words, it makes me happy! :) As for the videos, I seem to be the only one to have done something like that. I know that some CJ authors have already collaborated together on the same region.

Salut Akallan!

Well, when I saw that you had posted an udpate with a video (and even a little earlier when you had wrote me a message), I was really curious what you prepare for us this time. Having in my mind your previous video about deforestation, I had high hopes this time.

And I'm not dissapointed! Pas du tout!

At the beginning of the video, when the music started and first picture came up - I started to feel like being in a cinema, watching a long-waited-for movie in its premiere opening. After a while we have been taken back in time to see a small settlement growing and developing step by step - converting into a small village - then into a bigger one with stone structures - then to a small town that keept growing and growing till it reaches industralisation up to today time. I'm amazed how much time and effort you spent to :

a) prepare all lots, props, plugins as well as places and terrain
b) prepare the scenario: what to show at which time - that tourned out to be a fabolous story with all the details! I really looked with amazement how you were cutting down trees, expanding farm fields, destroying old developement, creating new structures, reconstructing existing one etc. I smiled when I saw a rail line being build and then its elecrification as well as turning old gravel roads into paved ones!

What is more - and what is very interesting in your movies - you tried to "sneak" a message for the audience - about the real world, in fact...

And, well, very nice move to present some photos of other players. With those music and the history that we had just watched a while before, it really made a feeling that those were shots from places around the globe - around a fictional (but anyway) world. And I feel honoured to be listed rigth at the beginning ;)

What is more the quality of the video - the music, text, image sequence etc. is really high! In my opininon you're the best video creator from the entire community of simcity players. But even when talking about your "in-game effects" - I watched you from the beginning at ToutSimCities and here at sc4devotion. You made a giant leap in your skills that is unbelievable to achieve it in such a short time (it's been a year at least since you show us such craftsmanlike scenes)! It must have taken a lot of time for you to prepare it and I believe that you would like to have some rest ;) But you should try also another time in the future - you're really good at it!

So, to sum up - incroyable! :)

(I'll try to write a French answer at TSC as well as soon as possible ;) )

Incroyable, phénoménal, fantastique... les adjectifs manquent pour qualifier une telle prouesse  ;)

When you asked to use one of my pictures, I didn't expect you to come with this masterpiece. I'm really thankful that you thought about me and other MD creators, but to be honest, your work is simply sufficient unto itself.

You were already excelling at creating such scenes, but here you brought it to another level by making it elvove through time. I don't know how much time you had spent on it, but it must be a lot since you had everything planned.

I would have asked an admin for a k-point but I just saw Badsim already gave you one :D

Thanks a lot for this work!

I really enjoyed the buildup of scenery and the buildup of the town.

So this is one of the largest collaboration work ever in SC4 community? I have to say this is one of the best sc4 stuff available out there... I can already see how epic it is where you basically start the town from zero (lets say medieval era) and then the city evolved alongside the age, modern road invented, railroad opened, then the stop turned into proper station later on...

I cant really say a long word about this awesome work! It really worth it to work that much time for this single video as it really great!

I'm second to give this post a k-point as it really deserve it!

Hello everyone,

The video is finally coming out, it's different from the others I've done so far. It is oriented rather political in general than on the game itself and you will understand it quickly by viewing it. If it took so long for it to come out, it's because I hesitated for a long time before deciding, because the video presents ideologies different from the norm and the media "main stream".

I can understand the disagreement about people's opinions, but please remain respectful in the commentary space. I am open to all discussions as long as it is constructive.

Good viewing! :)

Geeeez, Man! It's huge! lovely work, indeed. How functional are your lotted networks? Did you give them custom paths, or just TE'd them, or they are simply visual and not functional? Recently I got involved with custom paths. Atm mainly this is the reason why I joined to the NAM Team to help Brian and the rest of them out with paths. Hm... I think the tricker textures could get custom paths (where are lane reductions or extensions), but this is just a thin idea atm...

But amazing work! I think you deserve a +1 for this achivement! :)

The proposal for this contest is to take a picture of any self created scene and post it in the contest thread here (https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/762204-20yearssc4-challenge-full-modded/). I made several images of the same painting from several angles, I hope you like it!

manga rivotra : I'm glad to see your name showing up here, because I posted a long time ago on SC4D and it's been a while since I've been on this forum and the others. It's a bit nostalgic! :D I really appreciate the work you do in your CJ too, I'm happy to read your nice comment, thank you! :)
Tyberius06 : Hi Tyberius, thank you very much for your comment! :D

Absolutely everything looks great in these pictures.
It's both very detailed, very beautiful and perfectly realistic, especially thanks to the surroundings of your roads and the houses in the village. Empty spaces or at the margins are always the hardest to achieve and surprisingly those that require the most attention : here it's perfectly done !  &apls  &apls  &apls
The VIP ground mod is very well used especially for meadows and rocky areas, as RFR MMP for the rivers. My favorite picture is that of the poultry farm : perfect!  :)

Awesome images, beautiful set-up. I've missed these picture showcases.
By the way I've been missing @manga rivotra 's CJs too. Those were awesome showcases too!
Nice work @Akallan
