Help wanted (new monitor)

This is not a major issue, but I thought that around a place with so many computer wizkids it would probably be the fastest way to solve the problem by just asking rather than going through all the game and monitor manuals. ;D

Friday night I had a power surge that blew my screen and my graphics card (no other damage done, thank God!). Went out and bought a new fancy widescreen monitor (LG L192WS) and a graphics card this weekend and installed it yesterday.

Everything works fine except the SC4 gaming view. It's all squashed up, and no matter how change the settings I can't seem to get a normal picture. It just streaches out over the entire screen.

Now, the odd thing is that the snap shots look ok. When I open them in Photoshop they have the normal perspective (so I can't show you what I'm seeing on the screen). All other programs seem to have no problems interpreting the new screen resolutions but SC4 doesn't seem to understand them.

This doesn't really effect the game but it sure cramps the playing experience a whole lot.

Any ideas?

I run SC4 on a 22" monitor, and it looks great! Bookmark the Wiki, it's extremely useful for games that you don't know how to adjust the settings on.

Wonderful amusement park you got yourself there.

As for the widescreen problem, Shadow assassin seemed to answer your issue. I used to run SC4 on a VAIO laptop for a few months--it looked great--though I eventually switched to PC which was much more comfortable anyway.

Well that's all for today. I'll be keeping an eye on this MD.

Hi Emilin,

I am glad that you have chosen to use my BATs, and that you are using them so creatively with your own lots. Results are great :-) And you give me more inspiration to re-start BATting...

best regards

Thanks a lot for the honour some updates back, like you I have been on vacation for some weeks, (in Norway) and have had no internet access.
I quite like the maps you have started making, a very nice touch to this already great MD.
Also the landscapes and the images from the small islands are nice.

Personal replies:

rooker1: Thank you so much! I like the lighthouse a lot myself, actually. It was a lot of fun plopping all that underwater stuff, too.

Heblem: Thank you... uh? Heblem? I didn't even realise it was possible to change the user name. ???

kimcar: Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. To be perfectly honest I think there is a slight chance that the amusement park will continue to be "planned for further development" for quite along time though. I really wasn't joking about the lack of land issue, hehe... ;D

Shadow Assassin: Thanks for all your valuable input, and excellent advice on both the technical aspect and everything else. And of course for commenting.

thundercrack83: Thanks, as always. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

nova vesfalo: Thank you so much, Nova! And I'm sorry for lack of comments in your MD lately. Sometimes I just get "struck by lurking" a little too much. I will try to better myself.

bat: Thanks! I will soon start developing País Palo, by the way... ;D

patfirefghtr: Thank you! I sure think it will, cause I know nothing about amusement park. I do know that a rollercoaster and some venders isn't really enough though. :D

Yoman: Thanks! And, actually, it's an upscale bar by Islas Gemas standards... which really isn't all that all that upscale, so I think you will get ahead simply by not being wasted and dressed in flipflops. ;D

Schulmanator: Thank you! It was actually produced by a million monkeys with crayons that live in the basement.

Eddie: Thanks! I'm very glad it was all appriciated.

mickebear: Oh dear, a comment by one of the BAT-masters. That puts the pressure on, for sure... Thank you so much, Mika. I adore your medditerrainian houses and I use them every chance I get.

Snaper: Thanks a bunch, Snaper!

kwakelaar: Thanks! I'm glad you liked the hounorable mention. There will be more maps further on down the road, by the way.

urban: Wow! Thanks! That was very, very kind of you. I feel truely honoured.

Nisha: Thank you and welcome to Islas Gemas. Hope to see you back again! Nice cat (kitten?), by the way... very cute.

Playa del Paraíso - second visit

Sorry for things being slow around here lately, but update time is finally here. As you may remember from before the hounorable mentions started we are in the middle of showing the major tourist resort of Islas Gemas - Playa del Paraíso. This update will continue the tour of the luxury hotels around the board walk, and also the small amusement park.

As some commenters have pointed out, PdP wasn't at all very big for a "major" resort. Thus, it's been growing since last time, and it will continue to grow a bit more. I hope you enjoy the new features.

Emilin wonderful update... I do have to say the borg club cube is something that looks as it would be perfect for the sims that are into grunge style... See you next update - pat  :)

As per usual, a brilliant update here at Islas Gemas, emilin! The area around the amusement park looks fabulous--especially the cube, I love it! The hotels and the casino look wonderful, too! I'll be looking forward to see more of your work, my friend!

rooker1

Super update, great pictures and awesome layout.  Your choice of custom content is incredible and the way you lay it out together is just as awesome.  I love The Borg Cube, fits in with rest of the casinos perfectly.  I have thought about using it several times but I always forget to DL it.  Maybe tonight.......

Great looking update Emilin, especially the end pictures from the big tower flats estates. The Sundial plaza is a very nice square and a good spot for it just opposite the entrance of the fun-fair.

Schulmanator

I was busy enjoying the update - cursing you for such tropical charm when I can;t go on vacation when....

I saw those awesome stone promenade walls (what are they BTW, me likey!)...

then I saw the  ()borg() ()borg()BORG CUBE!!! ()borg() ()borg()

This is the most warm, tropical and colorful MD ever created, anywhere!!! I think you chose an incredible terrain mod for the look you cultivated. Keep up the great work

Fantastic new pictures of Playa del Paraíso, which is looking great!

Nice work Emilin!
You have captured the feel of a resort wonderfully.
This is a super update, enjoyed it tremendously.

Nisha

Fantastic update, Emilin! I love every little corner of your pics. Such carefully chosen buildings and details, I don't know how you do it. Even the Borg Cube fits right in.  &apls
Yup, that's my Siberian cat Chloe. In that pic she was only about 14 weeks and now she is 2 years old. She keeps me company while I'm Simcity-ing.  ;D

Your city sculpting prowess is surpassed by only 2 or 3 people: Aleking, Badsim, and maybe jeronij.

Dedgren isnt included here... because I haven't seen him make a city yet :)

Seriously loving the resort. Wondering where you got those fat 3 pointed star buildings.
