Diagonal Station Tutorial

For this tutorial you will need:
Ilives Reader
Sc4 tool
Plugin Manager
Lot Editor
Something to use as a station building

Part 1-  The Model

If you are going to build a diagonal station, you will need to have a model that you are going to use, so here are some tips for making your model:

    * A diagonal station will have to have the rail platforms at 45 degrees. They should each be 4 units wide. That width applies to straight and diagonal stations.
    * You don't have to model your station diagonally, if you are having trouble modeling on the diagonal, then model your station normally. When you are all done, select everything in the model, including LODs and lights,  then Group it (Group > Group in the menu) and rotate it 45 degrees. Ungroup when you have rotated.
    * If you want no grass below the station you will have to model a plaza that reaches to the two diagonal roads closest to the rail. The distance between the two roads is 36 units (in gmax or max) The length will be different depending on how long your platform is.

Part 2: The Modding

At this point in the tutorial, i assume you have the model or pops you are going to use for your station, if you don't, then you can just put in a temporary building.

If you do have a model, then put it though plugin manager. Just do what you would normally do, nothing different is needed there.  The next part will have a change, Your station model will most likely be too big to fit on the lot,  so there is a change that you will need to make.

To make the change you will need Reader. Open up the file you just made in plugin manager.  In the exemplar file, there is a "Occupant Size" Property It determines how big a object will be on a lot. Open up that property, and change the first and last numbers to something smaller than 16, i used 3 on my lot.

After you change the numbers, press apply on the bottom, then save the lot and exit Reader. Thats it for reader, so its time for the next step.

Part 3: The Lot

Before you transit enable your lot, you will need to make one. So go to lot editor, and make your lot. Make sure you use a 1x2 lot. The lot has to be 1x2 to work.  If you did the last step correctly your building should fit on the lot.  Depending on how your station was modeled, the placement of building could be different. Mine was slightly off center when i placed it on the lot.  When you're done, save your lot, its time for the last step.

Step 4: Transit Enabling

For this last step, you will need SC4 Tool. When it opens, pick "Visual Editor for transit enabling your lots"

Open up the lot you made and click on the lot tab. Then drag the rail type you are using onto both squares. The direction the arrows are facing doesn't matter, as that will be changed in the next step.

After you have both tiles transit enabled, right click on the upper tile of your lot and pick the the "Edit Reps (Expert)"  option. A new window will come up and you will need to make the following values:

    * The compass in the Rep 3 section up top will need to have only the south box checked.
    * The north box in Rep 15 will need to be 01
    * The west box in Rep 15 will need to be 00
    * The south box in Rep 15 will need to  be 00
    * The east box in Rep 15 will need to  be 03

If you did the upper tile correctly the edit reps window should look like this:

If your upper tile is correct, then press OK and close the window. Then open the edit reps window for the bottom tile.  Theese are the values for the bottom tile:

    * The compass in the Rep 3 section up top will need to have only the south box checked.
    * The north box in Rep 15 will need to be 00
    * The west box in Rep 15 will need to be 03
    * The south box in Rep 15 will need to  be 01
    * The east box in Rep 15 will need to  be 00

If you did the bottom tile correctly the edit reps window should look like this :

If your bottom tile is correct, then press OK and close out the window. Save your lot, and close SC4 Tool.

Thats it You're Done!

Andreas

Nice tutorial! But wouldn't you need to add a custom path file ID via the 16th REP as well?
