Title: Better Ploppable Water Mod
Post by: ChiefZDN on February 17, 2017, 03:16:55 AM
Dear players & SC4D staff,

Yeah,  the Pegasus' ploppable water is good. However, this is can't be used with ferries (to simulate canal system) & other 'need water' lots (including some seawall mods). I can't setup the canal system properly because I don't have any canal station (yes, I can download the station, however it's rare and some stations can't be downloaded because corrupted links). To fix this, we must create a mod that can set a land into water (not just by visual, also by the game too). This ploppable water can be placed anywhere without problems. This ploppable water is bridge-compatible (who don't want build a bridge in a canal?). And, this ploppable water can be bulldozed without any problems. However, this project is a DLL mod because the change caused by this project can't applied using conventional mod (like DAT mod). We need DLL mod coder like Simmaster07 or Speeder to accomplise this project. This project will be useful in the future because it can decrease mod usage that lead into more stable gaming experience (e.g. no CTD).

Thank you.

EDIT: Fix typos.

You could use Jenx' Poseidon mod to create navigable water on pre-terraformed earthen canals, and then seawall them and add ferry terminals when needed. IIRC, there is a BLS ferry terminal for Marrast seawalls that doesn't break the wall continuity nor adds a pier, which would be inconvenient for narrow canals. i guess the only thing that cannot be done with this would be slopped canals (but CALSG canal locks could be repurposed as a ferry terminal for that) and bridges with less than 30 metres of clearance
